Penguin huddle 🐧🐧🐧 TTC after pregnancy loss - Thread 35 - time for some sticky BFP's

Welcome to the 🐧 huddle. This a safe place to give and receive support for everyone who has experienced the loss(es) of a pregnancy or baby. Pregnancy and child loss is one of the most difficult things we can experience and it can also be the most lonely time too. I hope you find this thread to be of some comfort.

I have found so much comfort from the lovely ladies on this thread and I’m hoping for lots of BFPs in coming months!

@Hlump1980 Aww not at all, I've really found comfort in this group and you're all so kind.

So sorry to hear about what you're going through :( Absolutely, have whatever you bloody well want at a time like this! ❤️

Hlump1980 · 27/07/2020 11:40

@KerryW87
What about the Early Pregnancy Unit at your hospital. They might be able to help you ?

KerryW87 · 27/07/2020 12:02

@Hlump1980 I wonder if I'd be allowed to phone since I'm no longer under antenatal care. The bereavement midwives were so lovely whilst I was in the labour ward so maybe they'd be able to quickly answer the question.

I feel guilty for how I feel but both my partner and I feel such a need to try again so I do hope this is normal and my cycles will return to normal soon 🤞 x

Kiki275 · 27/07/2020 13:05

@Hlump1980 eat whatever you like if it helps even just a little bit. That's an awfully long time to be waiting,

@KerryW87 my bereavement team were brilliant. As soon as you leave the hospital, you seem to fall through many cracks. No postnatal GP or MW checks etc. The bereavement team did all the final things for me as soon as I asked. Ie. I needed a follow up consultant meeting which they set in motion. This then in turn got a smear request authorised and they reassured me so much. My hospital offer a photography service for stillborn babies so the bereavement team tracked these photos down for me. Even now, 4 months later, I could ring them and feel confident they'll help. I do realise from being on other threads that this seems to be a lucky draw depending on your location & trust.x

Mumlili9 · 27/07/2020 16:30

Well ladies that's my Corona test done. Had to do it before my interview for a new possible job at a mental health hospital

Kiki275 · 27/07/2020 16:33

@Mumlili9 not nice having to have the test but the very best of luck for your interview x

Mumlili9 · 27/07/2020 16:47

@Kiki275 thanks, the test is very uncomfortable but I bet no where near as uncomfortable as having covid would be. Fx for Thursday and praying I get this job. I've got to get out of the one I'm in. My boss has not been very supportive during my last 3 mc's . I can see her point having to go on the sick every 6 months does cause inconvenience to her and my colleagues.

Kiki275 · 27/07/2020 17:34

That's disappointing your boss isn't supportive. It's not like you're pulling a sickie because you drank too much at the weekend. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you x

AliceinBunnyland · 28/07/2020 08:18

I tested today with a First Response Rapid Result (I accidentally bought these instead of FRERs) and got a BFN.

I'm 12 DPO and AF is due tomorrow so I think I am probably out even though these tests might not be as sensitive as FRERs... sigh

KerryW87 · 28/07/2020 10:23

@AliceinBunnyland Ah, sorry to hear that. It's always so disappointing :( Although, as they say...you're not out until you're out so I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! 🤞❤️ x

AliceinBunnyland · 28/07/2020 15:19

@KerryW87 Thank you 💗 Did you manage to get in touch with your bereavement midwife? I had two kind of because one was based in the city I gave birth and one on the city I live in and one was lovely and one was no use at all and couldn't wait to stop calling me! x

Mumlili9 · 28/07/2020 20:33

@AliceinBunnyland I'm sorry about the bfn. They sting don't they. You never know you might not be out yet, fx xx

AliceinBunnyland · 28/07/2020 21:33

Thanks @Mumlili9 💗

KerryW87 · 29/07/2020 16:09

@AliceinBunnyland How are you today?

I tried to phone them today but the switchboard woman said she couldn't get through. I actually got a letter from the consultant today, just a courtesy letter but said I can phone if I had any questions. I phoned and left a wee message with their secretary, got a call back from her to say the consultant advised we wait until results are back before we try to conceive again. Bit gutting but here's hoping it doesn't take too long.

Hope you're doing ok today?

Mumlili9 · 29/07/2020 17:48

My corona test came back with the result unclear. I have to do it again 😥. This year is really p*ing me off now

Kiki275 · 29/07/2020 19:51

@Mumlili9 eurgh, just what you really don't need. Has your interview been scheduled or does it depend on these results?x

AliceinBunnyland · 29/07/2020 20:10

Hi @KerryW87 Hopefully the time goes by quickly. Have they said how long the results will take?

I'm ok thanks. AF is pretty much here so onto a new cycle.

@Mumlili9 Are you testing to see whether you have had it or if you have it now? I'm not really clued up on the testing but sounds frustrating to not have an answer.

Hope you're ok @VenusStarr

Mumlili9 · 29/07/2020 20:21

@AliceinBunnyland testing to see if I have it now.

@Kiki275 yeah can still do the interview tomorrow

KerryW87 · 30/07/2020 08:22

@AliceinBunnyland No, they didn't say. Before we left hospital a midwife said they might take a bit longer due to the backlog after Covid (same goes for my wee boy'a service, sadly) but didn't give a timeframe in weeks. Really hoping it isn't too long, harder to move past these feelings until I feel I'm actively able to try to get to a happy outcome, if you get me?

Aww no, sorry to hear that :( Every month it hits you, even if you try to tell yourself not to get your hopes up. Hope you've got a nice weekend planned and just be good to yourself! ❤️

VenusStarr · 31/07/2020 16:35

Hi everyone 👋 thought I'd just pop on to share a pic of the orchid - one has popped! I'm happy but also a little sad, I really thought I might have found out I was pregnant when this flowered - sounds stupid now.

Hope you're all well @AliceinBunnyland @Mumlili9 @KerryW87 @Kiki275 tagging you @marmitecheesetoast as you were also interested in the orchid development! :)

It's August tomorrow and my ivf should start in the next few weeks 🙏 still undecided whether to try this cycle - I've stopped temping.

@VenusStarr how lovely. I know what mean about wanting a signal. Let's hope IVF brings you your 🌈

Mumlili9 · 31/07/2020 18:00

As for me having another confusing time.

Tests the last two days look positive to me but clear blue fertility monitor and premom app don't agree. Third pic is from last cycle to compare the lines. What do you ladies think?

Hi @VenusStarr, oh how lovely! We were actually gifted a beautiful orchid from my partner's cousin just tonight, I'm admittedly not very clued up with plant care but since planting a wee tree for our wee boy I'm definitely motivated to get clued up! Are orchids difficult to look after?

Aww, I completely understand about the signs, it's natural to interpret these things as signs when it's something you want so badly and I think I'd do the same ❤️ Oh, that's exciting if it starts in a few weeks, I have everything crossed for you 🤞 Do you think you will still try this cycle?

I'm fine, thanks. Had a message from consultant advising not to try until test results come back incase there was a reason for baby's passing that they need to address. I know it's only maybe 8 weeks, but in my daft head just now it feels like forever :(

KerryW87 · 31/07/2020 21:17

@Mumlili9 Oh, that top one absolutely looks like peak to me! 🎉
