Hello everyone,

I am 37 going on 38 in December. TTC baby number 3. Came off the pill on the 1st may (2020). Previously I was on syanna press( depo).
I ovulated yesterday 😊
I only just finished my period on the 9th so didn't expect ovulation just yet. Also I am very new to using ovulation test. This is my second time using it. I am using the easy@home brand.
I have two boys ages 15 and 3years.❤️

Please join on this journey with me, so we can cheer each other up, share advice and information etc..

Good luck to all. FlowersSmile

@Kangaroo77 ok great. I've read on some post that the test line must be stronger in colour than the control line. As I am new to using them, it's taking me some time to understand when it's negative or positive. Smile

@happyhappy37 thanks for the welcome!
The next step will be packing the Mr off to the doctors for a check, but at the moment our doctors are still closed and I doubt they will be referring for anything fertility related at the moment?

And I wouldnt be ashamed of not knowing how the CD works, this was a myth for me too! It took a fair bit of reading and lots of helpful posts on here for me to make sense of it Grin
I know I'm currently on CD 20 but who knows what my ovulation day was! I think it was somewhere between CD15 and 17? But my OPK tests were a bit hit and miss!!

I'm sure we will all get the right outcome sooner or later!!

Moominmiss · 16/05/2020 16:03

@Happyhappy37, with opk’s the test line needs to be as dark or darker o be considered a positive.
Then once you’ve had that peak ovulation should occur within 12-36 hours.
I was so clueless with all of this until I joined here, as I didn’t do any real trying with my children, I just stopped contraception and hep presto lol.
No such luck this time, so need to do all I can to help things along.

@Kangaroo77 I can’t even begin to imagine how difficult it must have been, waiting for results, and then having to go through a procedure like that. Hugs to you.

I pray that the next time you fall pregnant everything goes perfectly for you.

Thank you for sharing your experiences with me. I think I will definitely opt for the NIPT as well as the nhs screening tests.

Lynnysong · 16/05/2020 16:07

Hi, I haven't ever posted on a TTC forum before. My name is Lynn and I've been trying for over six months. I'm in my forties but don't want to say my age lol.

Af is due on Tuesday and I need to test at some point but I'm a bit scared. I don't think it will be +ve and I almost think I'm silly for trying at my age.

I'm 13dpo today, I tested at 10dpo but it was a negative :(

Happyhappy37 · 16/05/2020 16:24

@Flutterby8 😁 I am glad am not the only one , trying to learn these things.
Hopefully, doctors office start resuming normal work soon.

Happyhappy37 · 16/05/2020 16:30

@Lynnysong welcome my dear.
10dpo is still early. Please remain positive, regardless of age. Negativety is such a mental drain on us. Am wishing you good luck and sending you positive energy. 🤗

Happyhappy37 · 16/05/2020 16:32

@Moominmiss ok so are you saying that even though the test is positive ovulation doesn't occur till 12-36 hours later. So I still need to DTD tonight. 😊😁

Happyhappy37 · 16/05/2020 16:35

Ok my lovely ladies, I am getting ready to go to work now. Please enjoy the rest of the evening with positive energy. Take some time to yourselves to meditate and clear your mind of all negative thoughts. Deep breaths , relax and chill 😊😊

@Happyhappy37 Thank you so much for your kind words. I will try to stay positive. I've burst into tears twice today and it's not like me.

It's lovely to meet everyone and I wish you the very best for your journeys. :)

BattenburgBerry · 16/05/2020 16:41

Can I join please? I’m 37 and TTC my first. Came off the pill (Lucette) on 15th April, had my usual bleed, and then miraculously ovulated on CD15, only tested because I spotted some EWCM. Now I’m 11/12DPO and feel like my period is about to start. I’ve had some spotting this morning but nothing since. I’m going to test tomorrow morning. Even if it’s a BFN and my period arrives I’ll be pleased that my body is on its way to getting back into a natural cycle again.
Fingers crossed for all of us.

Moominmiss · 16/05/2020 17:10

@Happyhappy37 yes! Definitely dtd tonight, and tomorrow. The positive test shows your peak lh surge, which means ovulation is coming, then ovulation happens 12-36 hours later!!!

Good luck!!!

Lynnysong · 16/05/2020 17:50

@BattenburgBerry I'm going to test tomorrow morning too. I'm at dpo 13 and I've felt a bit crampy since dpo 9/10. I'm hoping that's a good sign.

It does seem like your body is getting back into the swing of things. I hope you get good news tomorrow, fingers crossed fx

MarieQueenofScots · 16/05/2020 17:53

I’m terrified doing this, but dipping my toe in the water.

I’m almost sure now once this is over I will be trying for my second via sperm donor.

I’m over-35, A single parent to a teen and had unsuccessful fertility treatments but I feel I have to give it a shot.

Good luck to everyone (and sorry if I’m in the wrong place!)

Happyhappy37 · 16/05/2020 19:38

@BattenburgBerry welcome to our journey.
Wishing good luck. Our bodies do mess about after coming off contraceptives, but it's a good feeling when it's getting back to normal.
Have you tested yet?

@MarieQueenofScots welcome. You are most definitely in the right place. Give it your best shot my dear. Keeping talk to us. We are here for each other ❤️. So sorry your fertility treatment didn't work then. Keep at it. Baby dust to you Flowers

Hello everyone can I join?

I've never posted on a ttc thread before.

I'm 39 and came off cerazette pill on weds. I haven't had a period for many years so I can't remember my cycle really. I have a 7 year old ds with my ex and I recently remarried. We'd love a child together. It took only a month to conceive my first, I hope I am as lucky this time. I hope my period actually comes... Who knows... I may have started menopause and I wouldn't even know it! Lots of anxieties about my age really. No idea about all the acronyms on here but I'm sure I'll get to grips with it... 😬

Happyhappy37 · 16/05/2020 20:52

Welcome @Lemonlimeorange i was on the cerelle. You haven't started menopause, surely. Just give your body some time it will return to normality soon. I understand the anxiety with regards to age, but please try to be positive, it will work out fine. You will get your bpf soon. Flowers

Lemonlimeorange · 16/05/2020 20:52

What does Dpo mean??

Lemonlimeorange · 16/05/2020 20:55

Thank you Happy! I know it seems really negative to be thinking about menopause.. But I've been curious for a while now as I seem to have night sweats for no apparent reason... Hopefully it's not a symptom of the change! I started puberty early (got my period aged 8) so always thought the menopause would come early too..

Lynnysong · 16/05/2020 21:25

@Lemonlimeorange the acronyms are a bit confusing. I'll see how many I can remember.
dpo is days past ovulation, 0 dpo is the day of ovulation and 1 dpo is the day after
2ww is the two week wait from ovulation to period
af is aunt flo or your period
bd is the baby dance, dtd doing the deed lol
ttc trying to conceive
bbt basal body temperature

I've run out now, probably forgot some. Hope that helps :)

Lynnysong · 16/05/2020 21:37

Does anyone else track bbt here? I'm hoping my temp stays up. I had a short cycle last time 26 but this one is 28 I'm pretty sure.

This is the third cycle I've charted and my temps look good for once. It's normally like a mountain range lol

I hope everyone is well and gets there bfp (big fat pregnant) soon, baby dust to everyone :)

MrsTtobe · 16/05/2020 22:00

Hi to all the newcomers. ❤
Hopefully we can all support each other on our journeys, the highs and the lows.

I sometimes get anxious about trying for a baby over 35. I get anxious about being 35+ in general. My skin isnt the same, I put on weight quicker than I used to, I don't have the energy and zest for life I had at 25 but when I sit and think about it I realise how lucky we all are. To be getting older, to be healthy, to have families around us, careers we've worked hard for.
Every day older is another day we should be grateful. ❤

Love and luck to you all xx

@Happyhappy37 - happy ttc for tonight and the next couple of days. 😬

Happyhappy37 · 16/05/2020 22:22

@Lemonlimeorange oh I see what you mean about early menopause. Try getting blood test, night sweat can be signs of different things, thyroid problems, diabetes, early menopause, etc..
I experienced severe nights sweats between and march last year. I had to change my night clothes 3 times during night, change bed sheets or put towels.
The first time it happened I thought I peed myself. Then I realized that my whole body was like a swimming pool.
I had blood test done, has the doctor was very concerned that it all sorts of problems.

They checked for thyroid , kidney, liver problems also , checked diabetes, cancer etc... Can't remember the rest now. All came back fine, such relief.

However, she suggested changing contraceptives as I was on the syanna press (like depo), this one I do at home. I was also suffering from acne at my age (then) and also sorts of crap. Stopped the syanna press and all went away, no more nights sweats or acne. Thankfully

@Lynnysong I don't do the BBT, lol I am just learning ovulation test. My poor brian couldn't cope with anything else.

@MrsTtobe I will try to DTD, but I am already feeling exhausted and I have meat/fish to prep for dinner tomorrow.
My Mr came back from work with a bottle of wine for me, am already thinking about cracking it open.🙈🙈
You are so right we are truly blessed and fortune to be our ages. Happy, healthy, got families. Truly blessed 🙏

Lynnysong · 16/05/2020 22:49

@Happyhappy37 I thought the ovulation test was difficult lol, we're all different :)

I take my temp every morning and track the results in an app. I keep an eye on cm too. So hopefully I've timed it well this cycle.

Still scared to test, might chicken out tomorrow morning
