Hi there,
I’m very new to mumsnet and in my first month of trying to conceive.
All the info out there is really overwhelming and just wanted to start a thread for the people in the same boat.

@Nic2908 😂 they can't all be faulty! I think you most certainly are hehe Have you made an appointment with the docs yet? From what I'm reading it says you have to have some tests before 10 weeks x

Nic2908 · 15/04/2020 10:42

So with our maternity unit its self referral, so I finally made the call yesterday.first appointment is between 8-10 apparently. Then second one is scan between 12 and 14. If covid is still going on first appointment will be over the phone with bloods taken at the second rather than a face to face appointment If that makes sense?? But fingers crossed things will have started getting slightly back to normal in terms of medical care. How are you feeling?? I bet you keep staring at it dont you!!

MrsEmilyB · 15/04/2020 10:48

@nic2908 - MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! How did your OH react?! How many weeks are you??

Nic2908 · 15/04/2020 11:04

@MrsEmilyB my husband is mr cool.. he was just like what shall we call it?? Covid or Corona?? Grin I'm about three and a half weeks so very very early. I actually ovulated 2 days after the end of my period dont know what the hell that was about. @Natt99 how are you going to tell your partner?? I bet you are wishing the hours away now. I'm so happy for you. Girls your time is coming I promise. This thread is a lucky one!! Star

Katbaby · 15/04/2020 11:38

@NJ2910 @MrsEmilyB thank you, keeping my fingers crossed for a dark line for you!
Yes coming off the pill has really messed with my head. Getting headaches which apparently is a sign.. But also a sign of low progesterone suggesting I wouldn't be ovulating!?! I need to stop using Dr google

Need someone else to talk to instead of just hubby, he's waiting as impatiently as me!

Baby dust to everyone!

mrsgtobe97 · 15/04/2020 12:06

@Nic2908 I'm doing okay thanks 😊 woke up a bit down but since it's such sunny weather I got up and cleaned the whole house from top to bottom which took 3 hours 🤣 but I feel now that it's a fresh start in a way as I love everything being clean and I've kinda just let the house go to sh** in the TWW because I've been so obsessive over it. Just waiting for my AF to start, meant to be Friday, so I'm hoping between now and August my cycles get regular and I can get a head start on tracking OV etc so when we do start trying again it'll be easy (lol as if). So happy for everyone on here with their BFP, hopefully won't be too far behind you all 🙈

mrsgtobe97 · 15/04/2020 12:08

@Katbaby can totally relate with coming off the pill thing! I came off start of December and only got my first period 20th March, now waiting for my 2nd scheduled period which is this Friday, so hoping I can get back into some sort of cycle soon. Now I'm off the pill I'd never go back on it, messes with everything!

Natt99 · 15/04/2020 12:29

@Nic2908 that's good, hopefully it will feel more real when you talk to the midwives about it. Fingers crossed we're at the peak now so it goes back to normal soon.
Yes I keep looking at the picture of the test 😂 we've got a bottle of champagne in the house so I might put a post it note on it saying "reserved for 22/12/2020" a bit basic but won't be able to keep it myself long enough to arrange anything else 😂

beccaxob · 15/04/2020 13:32

@n@Natt99 AHHHim so happy for you!!!!!

beccaxob · 15/04/2020 13:33

@Natt99 Sorry - clearly too excited for you that I lost the ability to type. Congratulations my Lovely x

Natt99 · 15/04/2020 13:48

Aww thanks @beccaxob hope you're doing ok x

Katbaby · 15/04/2020 15:34

@mrsgtobe97 oh god so similar timings then, did you have any spotting before af finally showed up? Really don't wanna get my hopes up that I've fallen this month but can't help but think I have.

My husband is convinced I'm preg as well, congratulations to everyone who has so far! Hoping this thread is a lucky one 🤞🤞

Hogrider · 15/04/2020 16:41

Hello, hope I'm not too late to join the group, but saw your post @Katbaby and we are in a similar boat. Came off the pill Aug last year and got my first period Dec...! It behaved exactly like what you described.

We have just started trying for baby no1, but my AF is irregular to say the least. I'm on CD36 at the moment and never appear to get an ovulation line strong enough to be a proper ovulation.

@Natt99 Huge congratulations! Smile Cool way to join a group, feel super excited and energised with all those positive tests.

Katbaby · 15/04/2020 16:45

@Hogrider so did you spot for a couple of days have all pms symptoms and then af eventually show? It's been 3 days since spotting stopped and no sign of af yet?! Just trying to manage my expectations as I just ate an apple and then felt really sick after so now even more convinced of being preg and I'm dreading getting a negative at the weekend? I'm going mad 🤣 how long have your cycles been since your December af? Sorry about the 20 questions haha

Katbaby · 15/04/2020 16:47

Also @Natt99 I love the idea of saving the champers! Congrats again

mrsgtobe97 · 15/04/2020 16:48

@Katbaby @Hogrider I think we may all be in same boat. Looked back at Flo and I'm sure I ovulated CD92 as i had spotting and bang on 14 days later my period. So I think I may not be out this cycle until I get a strong ovulation test, going to keep tracking anyway! After going nearly 120 days before a period I was maybe stupid to assume I ovulated as a 28 day cycle person would?

Katbaby · 15/04/2020 16:50

@mrsgtobe97 I'm not counting us out just yet. There's still time!

Hogrider · 15/04/2020 18:14

Hi @beccaxob just saw you were asking about CB ovulation tests. I have used them for a while and they didn't work at all for me. I got a blinking smiley regardless of what I did. On the 10th day I dipped the stick in water and it still gave me a flashing smiley. The tap water had an equal chance of having a baby Confused

Hogrider · 15/04/2020 18:22

@Katbaby I had crazy pains and felt sick and AF turned up a week later. BUT Sounds like you got be pregnant?! Would be amazing if that was the case. I got my period in December and then again in Feb, and some half arsed AF in March. All over the shop so I think I'm still waiting for my body to cone back into normal state of affairs after 13 years on the pill.

@mrsgtobe97 I've ordered more tests online to continue the ovulation search. Hang in there! One thing I have learnt over the past couple of days reading posts is that nothing is normal...!

@Natt99 Love the champagne thing!

Talb93 · 15/04/2020 18:41

Hi !! First time on mumsnet!
I’m TTC for my second child and have purchased some dip ovulation sticks. I am a bit confused as I don’t seem to ever get a ‘as dark’ line, just very close too. I got the line on the 5th day after AF so cycle day 11 and same on cycle day 13. Anyone had the same ? X

Nic2908 · 15/04/2020 18:58

@talb93 how many times a day do you dip?? I used ovaview sticks from Amazon and they were great. I would dip once a day straight after finishing my period up until I got an almost positive and then I would dip three times a day until it started to fade. So I could always see the line gradually getting darker and then getting lighter again. You might miss the exact pin point moment to get your peak. I also used CB digital ovulation but hated them. Confused the crap out of me is I just continued to flash all the time and never got peak.

Katbaby · 15/04/2020 19:06

@Hogrider oh I really hope I am! Will keep the thread updated with results at the weekend.
At least it sounds like yours are starting to resemble normal periods fx for us all!

Hopefully the baby dust on this thread is contagious

beccaxob · 15/04/2020 19:31

@Hogrider Don't even! I am still bloody blinking today. I am not using them again. They just stress me out. I keep asking the DH to pee on them to test it!!

So frustrating.. do you use any others?

Xxx

Hogrider · 15/04/2020 20:07

@beccaxob I've used Boots own brands test strips which worked well, as does the Tesco ones, but they work out very expensive per test so have ordered 100 pack from amazon (£7!) which arrives on Saturday. Refuse to try blinking smiley again since it just didn't work for me.

@Katbaby Keeping all fingers and toes crossed for you!

Speaking about Amazon, they have a deal on for 4 first response tests for £7. If anyone is hunting for a bargain.
