Hi there,
I’m very new to mumsnet and in my first month of trying to conceive.
All the info out there is really overwhelming and just wanted to start a thread for the people in the same boat.

@Flamingle909 well exactly! Keeping us all sane anyways.

@SunKissed89 welcome! Good luck on your journey!

@abilouise93 at least you're getting out and if anything, allowing your body to get back to some normality.

@Vil10 I'm not sure as I've just got the hang of mine but I was testing in the morning and nothing was appearing 🤷🏼‍♀️ I did read that you should try in the afternoon as your LH levels are higher.

I've just tested this afternoon and got a flashing face - I'm so happy! Fingers crossed 🤞🏻

@MyGossip Whoop whoop!!

Vil10 · 13/05/2020 16:29

@MyGossip yeah on these easy@home it says online to test between 11:00-16:40, I tested at about 3ish! Good luck!

Vil10 · 13/05/2020 16:29

Sorry mean 16:00 x

MintGreenLife · 13/05/2020 16:50

@abilouise93 awesome, I'm excited to start using them, but feel like I may also get bored/frustrated with them quite quickly 😂 Just praying my cycle appears fairly normal as I came off the pill just over a month ago and had AF come Monday, so hope that's a sign my cycle is pretty good as AF came like clockwork on the day my app predicted it, but who knows 🤷🏻‍♀️

I've ordered 'the impatient woman's guide to getting pregnant' which had good reviews but was written in 2013 so hopefully info isn't outdated. Apparently it's got good info but also meant to be light hearted ☺️

Flamingle909 · 13/05/2020 17:08

@mintgreenlife I'm in the middle of reading that! very easy read and light-hearted :-)

MintGreenLife · 13/05/2020 20:29

@Flamingle909 awesome ☺️ It's coming tomorrow so looking forward to getting started

@LittleMissBlatherskite here is the other thread xx

Scarlettxo · 14/05/2020 08:45

Hey all - took a bit of a break yesterday because my mind started getting TTC crazy!

Nice to see you all are in the same boat with regards to weddings etc! You will get your day and your BFP soon enough 😁

My Flo app dramatically changed this morning.... changed my period dates (went from 22nd May to 18th of May) and therefore my fertile window changed to a couple of days after last period!!! So I've got a feeling I've completely missed the boat this month ☹️

Will still do HPT if I'm late with original period prediction (after 22nd of the month) Here's hoping 🤞🏻 x

Vil10 · 14/05/2020 09:49

@Scarlettxo my app has done exactly the same this morning too!! But it was the premom app that changed, I have flo, ovia and my Fitbit too because I wanted to work out which was the most reliable, and all the other 3 have similar fertile days but yesterday I put it my last few af in premom (which have been irregular due to being my first 3 since coming off the pill) And it changed my fertile window to 28th-2nd when the others say it’s between 15th-22nd of this month!! Very confusing!
But I’m just going to DTD every other/every two days from now anyway and hopefully I’ll catch it somewhere!
Don’t lose hope just yet, keep DTD and I have my fingers crossed for you!!x

Scarlettxo · 14/05/2020 10:22

@Vil10 How frustrating! While I'm hoping for the best, I'm expecting the worst (as usual!) if it isn't meant to be this cycle, I will start testing earlier in my cycle next time and hopefully get a positive on OPK! If my period is due Monday - I am experiencing some PMS symptoms - I will track CM right after aswell. Been a bit lazy with tracking this month but it's a mind game 😂 maybe have to rely on my body to determine fertile window and ovulation!! Fingers crossed for you too xx

NJ2910 · 14/05/2020 10:25

Hi all, I was on this thread last month so just wanted to come back and update and say hi to everyone who has joined since 👋 (not sure if any of the originals are left)
I am cycle 2 of TTC baby #1 and last cycle I got way too prematurely preoccupied with apps, OPKs, POAS etc and not that there is anything wrong with any of that at all but it was stressing me out :).
So this month I stayed away from everything and just DTD when I noticed EWCM - I had this twice about 5 days apart so I am unsure when I ovulated, I think I could be anywhere from 8DPO to 14DPO.
My cycles have been mixed since coming off contraception- 31 days and then 21 days and I am now on CD34 and got a faint line on a FRER last night but this morning although I think there may be a line if I squint, I feel it may be BFN. Have attached pictures of both tests - the one without the date is from last night.
Any thoughts?😊 Am I just dreaming haha? Am I out?

@Scarlettxo it really is a mind game, I was naive to think it was going to be so easy!! Listening to your body maybe your best bet, after all those apps only give you information off info you’ve already told them or logged!
@NJ2910 hi! My cycles are also a bit all over the place, but I’m trying to keep positive as the af I just had is only my third natural one since coming off the pill, hoping I’ll begging to regulate a bit more now! I can definitely see a faint line, maybe wait a few more days and do another one and see what the result of that one is? Good luck!!x

NJ2910 · 14/05/2020 13:35

Thanks @Vil10 😊 it is nice to hear of someone else with irregular cycles TTC. Amazon have just delivered some CB digital (FRER coming tomorrow), I'm so tempted to do one but is it pointless? I'm now regretting not knowing my ovulation date this cycle haha then I would have more of an idea of whether it is worth it.

Vil10 · 14/05/2020 13:47

@NJ2910 mine have been so irregular, my first one after my withdrawal bleed was 38 days, then 12 then this last one I waited 43 days for!! But they say it’s takes at least 3 months to get into a regular cycle, so I’m hoping I won’t be as all over the place! It’s so much info to take in though so sometimes you can’t keep track with it especially when you’re irregular! I’d maybe wait and do it tomorrow morning first thing, I know it’s so hard and feels like you’re waiting forever x

Scarlettxo · 14/05/2020 13:58

My cycles have ranged from 28 - 33 days and one was apparently (according to app) 52 days last year 😂 but since that long one they've been fine! I've been off contraception for years now. That's why I went to docs for tests and everything was normal 🙄 .

Can I ask what is FRER? 🙈 @NJ2910

NJ2910 · 14/05/2020 14:36

@Vil10 ahh okay yeah 3 months isn't too bad really to try and get a regular cycle - I'm just impatient haha! Going to try really hard to wait to take a digital.. we will see 😛

@scarlettxo 52 days wow! Bet that felt endless
FRER is first response early results test haha dont know why I'm using all the acronyms when I'm only cycle 2 myself 😂

jules5232 · 14/05/2020 15:17

@NJ2910 Some originals still here! LOL. I know what you mean by it stressing you out. I was all set to test and everything this month with OPKs, but wondering now if I should just stick with going with the flow because it can all get to be too much.
I def see a line on there though very light. If you are around the earlier part of your time frame (9DPO) that would def make sense. Keep us updated!

Gsr14 · 14/05/2020 15:55

@NJ2910 I definitely see a faint line! Really hoping this is it for you. I’m having a month off stressing at the moment, @jules5232 I was planning on being really strict this month and having a month off next but decided to swap them round.
At the moment I’m CD 8 and have thrown caution to the wind. Just bding and enjoying myself! Feels so nice to not be constantly thinking about making a baby.
Going to opk test around my predicated ovulation and bd every other day and see what happens.

jules5232 · 14/05/2020 17:02

@Gsr14 I totally get you and agree. I think I did the same but not intentionally. It was only one month of really trying and it was tiring enough! We are BDing less but just when we want to and maybe itll happen or maybe not. If it seems like I am close to ovulating I might take another OPK just to see, but definitely just taking it easy.

NJ2910 · 14/05/2020 17:08

Hi @Gsr14 @jules5232😊 thank you, desperate to take another test but trying to wait, why is this so hard haha! I definitely preferred the more relaxed approach this month..well until the last 48 hours when I have become obsessed again 😂

LittleMissBlatherskite · 14/05/2020 23:02

Hi all, hope you dont mind me joining.

@MintGreenLife @KatieG200394 thank you for the thread recommendation!

@Flamingle909 @abilouise93 I'm also in a similar situation as you. DP and I have had to postpone our June wedding due to COVID. We had anticipated TTC once we were married but have decided to begin TTC as we have no idea when we'll be able to get married and dont really want to put everything else on hold. It's so lovely to know that there are others in the same situation as us, and who have also come to the same conclusion.

I'm 32 and DP is 34, been together for 8 years. We have DTD this month, I wasnt tracking but it was in my FW. Think its unlikely to result in a BFP - we're not that lucky! So I'm awaiting AF and we'll begin the tortuous journey of tracking, googling and over analysing everything 😉 I'm a complete over planner!!

Good luck all 🍀

Flamingle909 · 14/05/2020 23:38

@littlemissblatherskite welcome! Yeah it seems there are a few of us in the same boat! It does help I think despite it being tricky for us all for various reasons. I think I've deduced we are all real planners but this bloody virus has made us realise life plans sometimes get thrown out the window! I know a lot of people would just delay TTC because of the delayed wedding but my OH and I are very frustrated with our whole life being on hold at the moment so don't want to just sit and wait for things to line up neatly (because they probably won't anyway!). Have you told any of your friends and family that you're TTC now? I haven't and am debating whether to say anything to anyone... A bit fearful of negative opinions if I'm honest. I saw something on a wedding Facebook group about TTC before a delayed wedding and the other brides just jumped on the OP saying it was a stupid idea! I quickly backed away from getting involved in that chat...

LittleMissBlatherskite · 15/05/2020 08:35

@Flamingle909 Oh no so sorry that you've experienced negative comments. It's such a difficult situation and as you say, we have no idea when we'll be able to get married and think it's so unfair for others to judge.
We haven't told anyone we're TTC. My OH's family have fairly traditional views, so he would be keen for us to get married before any babies arrive. We're thinking if we do get a BFP quickly we would either have a very small ceremony and a big party on our first anniversary or a smaller wedding with a baby bump - depending on timing of the restrictions being lifted and our BFP.
We've been quite "lucky" to have had our wedding cancelled rather than postponed, as we now have more options available, but I really dread the idea of planning an entire wedding over again!

abilouise93 · 15/05/2020 09:02

@LittleMissBlatherskite I know what you mean about telling loved ones and friends. I have told one that I’m thinking about it as she is pregnant and was desperate for someone to be in this with her.
I am fearful of the negativity but I think people will just be pleased. As I can’t beat my life being on hold further and couldn’t bear having to wait till after 11th Sept 2021 to start TTC.
Keep us posted on any updates and hope you get your BFP soon.
