Hi there,
I’m very new to mumsnet and in my first month of trying to conceive.
All the info out there is really overwhelming and just wanted to start a thread for the people in the same boat.

@abilouise93 ah sorry, I think I misunderstood you. So venue said for the July date it would just be 5 people able to attend in total, but that for September you should be OK for your guests to attend? I think that's how I feel at the moment - not knowing whether we should cancel in case it ends up that we could have gone ahead, but it's getting closer and closer now and I don't feel like I can do any planning or prep. Getting on with TTC in the meantime will take my mind off things I think x

abilouise93 · 13/05/2020 11:51

@RDC2020 glad you managed to sort a new date out but sorry to hear you had to postpone like us.
Yeah similar to me ideally within 4months which is why I think I’ll go private. My doctors don’t do them at all I had to go to sexual health clinic in a hospital but I’ll give them a call and plead can’t hurt right.

Totally get that feeling but what will be will be 🤣.

mrsgtobe97 · 13/05/2020 11:53

@MintGreenLife yeah rescheduled for 6th Feb 2021 😊 so a bit awkward for gauging TTC but I could probably get away with being 6 ish months pregnant with the style of my dress so we're just going for it from August and seeing what happens 😂 I'm hoping if I lose a bit of weight then my dress will be a bit big so then if I do get pregnant the dress can accommodate for it already, hopefully 🙈

abilouise93 · 13/05/2020 11:53

@MintGreenLife. Sorry should have typed that better. Yeah we had a back up date of end aug this year but they said that would be the likely scenario. Hence why we pushed back till next year.

Totally get the not prepping I’d not sorted favours or gift and had no desire to. The excited feeling will come back soon I hope.

In the meantime TTC is making me excited and it’s all starting to be real. X

Tootletum · 13/05/2020 11:58

Maybe a bit of positivity regarding ovulation tests - you don't actually need them. You can just go with having sex every other day too. I did eventually get them when I'd been trying a few months with my second (at 37). With my first baby I was 35 and got pregnant by mistake. We had to postpone the wedding due to the bumpSmile

RDC2020 · 13/05/2020 12:08

@abilouise93 you could always ring the sexual health clinic and say you're having trouble with the implant? They might take it out then! Haha. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤞🏼

Hope it works out for you! Keep us posted!

RDC2020 · 13/05/2020 12:09

@Tootletum yeah I've not got any positives with CB (the 2 day window ones) yet - but still DTD every other day/ every day when the app says I'm ovulating! So 🤞🏼x

MyGossip · 13/05/2020 12:11

Welcome @Flamingle909 sorry to hear about your wedding! But again something lovely to look toward too once this is all over! And @MintGreenLife sorry to hear about yours too! Sorry if I have forgotten anyone... so much chat to catch up on.

Welcome @abilouise93 such a friendly group! Good luck on your implant removal.

@Vil10 please don't worry about your age. Everyone is different. And everyone feels different for when it's the right time for them to have kids. I'm 32 and if I'm honest still don't feel like I'm ready but 🤷🏼‍♀️

@mrsgtobe97 oh I hope you're going to have party instead? 🙈

Random but I heard from my friends that pineapple helps so naturally I've just bought two from Asda. Also switched to decaf... every little helps I suppose? If anyone had any other tips please feel free o share!

Tootletum · 13/05/2020 12:16

@RDC2020 not RTFT so not sure which app you mean but I have a funny story about that, I had started using that app for ovulation (the one where you chart your temp) in order to prevent pregnancy in 2017. I was still taking contraception as it's supposed to take 3 months of obs to be accurate. I couldn't work out why it was telling me I was ovulation for two weeks. Turns out I was already pregnant...anyway bottom line is don't worry too much. The CB OPK was super accurate for me in the end though.

KatieG200394 · 13/05/2020 12:17

I can't believe how many of us are in the same boat with weddings and just decided to start ttc instead, I hope all the others with uncertain wedding dates works out for them in the end and may even have their own little bundle of joy to attend with them by the time it does come round Smile, also welcome to all the newbies on this thread Smile xx

RDC2020 · 13/05/2020 12:18

@KatieG200394 it's so nice isn't it! I honestly felt a bit silly TTC when we're unsure about our wedding! But so glad to know there are lots of other brides to be in the same situation!

Looking forward to having a baby at our wedding 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

abilouise93 · 13/05/2020 12:22

@MyGossip thanks very much - wedding on hold and hopefully soon full swing of TTC.

I heard about pineapple too. Apparently it brings on the birth too.

Flamingle909 · 13/05/2020 12:28

Thanks @mygossip

I wonder if there is another thread in the weddings section where there are more women dealing with both things at once 😂

I've been lurking on another thread where there seems to be an addiction to poas - opks and preg tests. Clearly it helps some people which is great and good for them! But I'm going to keep that to a minimum as I can see myself easily becoming completely obsessed. And if that happens I think my fiance might call the wedding and TTC off completely 🙈

KatieG200394 · 13/05/2020 12:41

@RDC2020 absolutely, I did too at first but you're so right, it helps to know other people are in the same situation, feels like a support group ☺ and yes, fingers crossed 🤞 xx

MyGossip · 13/05/2020 12:50

@Flamingle909 I know exactly what you mean. When we started in Jan it was very relaxed and now I feel like I'm becoming obsessed a little! Nothing else to do in lock down 🙈🙈

Vil10 · 13/05/2020 13:12

@MyGossip I heard that grapefruit juice has so many benefits towards fertility and TTC, so like you obviously I went to go and buy some but can’t find any anywhere!!

Flamingle909 · 13/05/2020 14:18

@MyGossip - yup! I think we all develop our own little obsessions - poas, symptom spotting, checking mumsnet (lol!) - my personal one is just checking my period tracker app about 13 times a day to remind myself where I am in my cycle. Makes no sense at all as its the same as when I woke up and will be the same when I go to sleep! But whatever makes you feel like you're in control of something I guess!

MintGreenLife · 13/05/2020 14:40

@abilouise93 so sorry, I totally got muddled up and thought you had set a new date for September this year, not next year. We actually had an update in the last hour from our registrar re our 2020 September ceremony and seems they are still unclear as to what will happen, think we will wait just a little longer to decide, but is looking unlikely.

Best of luck with all your plans for TTC and the wedding :) x

SunKissed89 · 13/05/2020 14:51

Hi all. Just spotted this thread. I'm a long term 'lurker' on Mumsnet and this is my first ever post so hi.
I came off the pill at the end of January nd still trying to work out what my cycles are etc. DH and I are now TTC DC1. Exciting times! Looking forward to sharing stories and support with everyone here Smile

Vil10 · 13/05/2020 14:59

So I am CD7, and usually use ovaview opks but after reading a few messages in this thread decided to order easy@home opks and download the Premom app, the tests have just arrived now so I decided to try them and I have a clear faint line, so I’ll definitely carry on using these for the next week! Does anyone have any advice on when to start testing twice a day?x

Vil10 · 13/05/2020 15:03

@SunKissed89 welcome, I came off in January too!

abilouise93 · 13/05/2020 15:28

@MintGreenLife @Flamingle909 @RDC2020 @MyGossip phoned the GP couldn’t say they would be back to normal before July! Thought I can’t wait that long.

Phoned the private clinic up appointment booked for Tuesday for the removal of my implant feels all the more real now. Not looking forward to the drive to Birmingham 😩 but needs must.

MintGreenLife · 13/05/2020 15:51

Hi @Vil10 I've just ordered these too and they should come tomorrow :) I've read advice when you first start testing is to test throughout a whole cycle to work out your baseline, starting as close to the end of your AF as possible. When line starts to get darker that's when you should start testing twice a day to find your peak :)

MintGreenLife · 13/05/2020 15:55

@abilouise93 well done for being proactive though :) will be good to get it sorted and then you can get started on your TTC journey. I've just ordered OPKs and a book about conception. They should be here tomorrow so will start testing and reading asap as should be my last day of AF tomorrow.

abilouise93 · 13/05/2020 15:59

@MintGreenLife Yeah I am looking at ordering those OPK tests for arrival this week to be prepared. For now I’ll just continue with my folic acid and lack of caffeine!

Which book did you order? I’m waiting on The Baby Making Bible.
