Hi there,
I’m very new to mumsnet and in my first month of trying to conceive.
All the info out there is really overwhelming and just wanted to start a thread for the people in the same boat.

@RDC2020 aww love this! Totally with you :D

Scarlettxo · 13/05/2020 10:12

Sorry to hear all the wedding plans are now mixed up! I think I 100% have the irrational fear that I can't conceive, I'm only 28 and people have already joked about my age and that I'm not getting any younger 😂

But it is natural and part of life so let's just have hope - our time will come when it is just right ❤️ .

Good things come to those who wait, right?! 😁

MintGreenLife · 13/05/2020 10:12

@Flamingle909 congrats on TTC :) we are going to start this month. I think I will just order some ovulation strips and see how I get on with those and ClearBlue are a bit pricey. I'm self-employed and work has dropped off a bit with everything that's going on so on a serious budget ha. Am worried I will find the strips confusing though and miss this months window, but will have to see xx

MintGreenLife · 13/05/2020 10:20

@Scarlettxo I've worried about this for years, I never knew lots of women had the same fear! You're totally right, that's a very good attitude to have towards it all :) hope everything works out for all of us x

Flamingle909 · 13/05/2020 10:22

@mintgreenlife yeah I ordered about 30,000 OPK cheapie strips plus one load of clear blue and just used what arrived from Amazon first! Won't be able to keep up with the clear blue prices though so will go back to the cheapies and maybe use clear blue to double check when I'm at peak or something. Who knew TTC would involve financial considerations?! I'm sure we were all told if you don't take your pill you'll get preggers immediately 🤦🏼‍♀️rather than having to budget and schedule... Oh yeah and seduce the OH at just the right time 😂

MintGreenLife · 13/05/2020 10:26

@Flamingle909 haha that's so funny, you're totally right. I hardly ever missed a pill over the years and still managed to convince myself I was pregnant several times.

Scarlettxo · 13/05/2020 10:43

@MintGreenLife Oh believe me I've had this fear for years! Got my implant taken out a few years ago & everything seemed normal enough. A few late periods but I figured that's just my cycle and to roll with it!

@Flamingle909 I've spent a tonne on Pregnacare Him & Her conception vitamins, Fertility gel, Digital Clearblue OPKs and now purchased a 3 pack of Clearblue HPT! Heading to get some cheapies soon lol

I am now 6DPO and every twinge or feeling I get I record 😂 Due end of next week - the wait is hard for sure x

Vil10 · 13/05/2020 10:50

@Flamingle909 @MintGreenLife I think from reading this thread it’s definitely obvious that all women have the irrational fear of not being able to conceive! This is going to sound strange too but I’ve always thought it because I was on the pill just short of 7 years and even though I was really good at taking it, a lot of my friends accidentally got pregnant whilst on the pill, but I never have, so I’ve always thought is it because something was wrong or I was just strict with taking my pill, but now that I’m actually typing it I realise how ridiculous that sounds!!
@Scarlettxo I’m only young too, 24, I was actually wary of putting my age in here because I didn’t want the judgement of im too young and I have plenty of years left and my life ahead of me, but I’ve always wanted to be a younger mum, my OH is 30 next month, a lot of my friends the same age and a bit older have children, I work with children and both me and my OH have decent stable jobs and we have a home and also a loving and supportive family! So we just thought well why not! (Also my OH wanted to be a dad before he was 30, so if that’s the case this cycle best bloody work) haha! Good luck to you all!xxx

MintGreenLife · 13/05/2020 10:58

@Flamingle909 oh gosh it's hilarious how we all have the same thoughts/fears! I'm the exact same, and I've actually even voiced my fear a few times in terms of wondering why many of my friends had gotten pregnant on the pill and I never had. I think we can just put it down to taking it very carefully rather than anything else :)

@Scarlettxo I'm 31 so starting my TTC journey a bit later. I think everyone just decides to do things at different times, there shouldn't be any judgement re age :) I always wanted to be a young mum but didn't meet my fiancé until I was 26 and he's younger than me so needed a bit more time to catch up with me and wanting to have a baby xx

Flamingle909 · 13/05/2020 11:00

@vil10 it is completely irrational to think that way but I'm exactly the same!! I also took the pill as directed and never had any pregnancy scares but now I think oh my god what if that means I'm infertile?! When actually it's probably just because I'm organised and took the pill as directed 😂

Its so weird that so many women have this fear but probably don't talk about it much. Except I do to my fiance, like whenever he talks about having a baby I follow up with "well if I can". I do it so much he even one day asked if there was something I'm not telling him about my past or health etc 😂 I felt a bit ridiculous when I had to say no nothing, it's just a feeling I've got

abilouise93 · 13/05/2020 11:01

Hi all -

Slight lurker here and new to mumsnet. We were due to get married in July which has now been pushed back till Sept 21 only available date the venue had.

I’ve been trying for the past 3weeks since I presumed the wedding wouldn’t go ahead to get my implant removed. Possibly going to have to go private as minor operations are postponed in NHS.

I hope to soon be joining all your brides to be on TTC baby#1. I’m 27 and it’s nice to see that lots of us have just decided screw it let’s swap the way around we had planned things.

Flamingle909 · 13/05/2020 11:12

@abilouise93 - another bride to be! I feel like such a donut now feeling like I was the only one! Sorry to hear about your wedding and I hope you can get the private appt so you can get started soon.

There will need to be some careful timing for some of us so we aren't about to explode with baby on the wedding day! I've already postponed once so I know it can be done, just want to see if we get pregnant in the next few months as that might dictate how far we push the wedding back for a second time if it comes to it

MintGreenLife · 13/05/2020 11:17

Hi @abilouise93

MintGreenLife · 13/05/2020 11:17

Hi @abilouise93

MintGreenLife · 13/05/2020 11:19

@abilouise93 - I'm entirely useless at this! Keep hitting post before I'm ready whoops.

It seems there are a fair few of us in the same situation on here. I guess it makes sense with the TTC Cycle 1 thread and the timing re weddings being cancelled.

How are you feeling about your new September date? We are early September (our original date) and thinking that most likely won't happen now, hence TTC, but you never know xx

abilouise93 · 13/05/2020 11:20

@Flamingle909 tbh I’m relieved it’s took the unknown away and the decision was made by the venue. It’s hard seeing a 68 day countdown go to 485 days though.

Yeah so frustrating but hopefully soon be tagging along.

I’ll be coming to here for advise on OPKs and stuff. Already spent loads on vitamins and pregnacare.

MintGreenLife · 13/05/2020 11:20

@Vil10 this message was meant for you earlier, but tagged @Scarlettxo by accident. I obviously need some practice at Mumsnet!

'I'm 31 so starting my TTC (trying to conceive) journey a bit later. I think everyone just decides to do things at different times, there shouldn't be any judgement re age smile I always wanted to be a young mum but didn't meet my fiancé until I was 26 and he's younger than me so needed a bit more time to catch up with me and wanting to have a baby xx'

abilouise93 · 13/05/2020 11:25

@MintGreenLife sort of relieved but I am sad about it at the same time. Not told everyone yet as I’m sort of gearing up to that.

My now worry is dress and whether I’ll get back to my shape or close lol.

Our venue seemed to suggest that it will just be 5 people you as a couple registrar and then two witnesses to make it legal.

I hope that you can make the best decision for you and whatever it is we will all get our days at some point. Xx

Vil10 · 13/05/2020 11:30

@MintGreenLife yeah definitely agree with you that everyone starts at different times and whenever is right for them!! I just feel so excited to be on this journey and I’m feeling really good and positive for this cycle!
So sorry to all you girls who have had their weddings rearranged but you’re all handling it so well!!xx

mrsgtobe97 · 13/05/2020 11:34

I should of been getting married on Saturday but planning on having a pig out with junk food and a dominos to help ease the pain 😂 after that I'm on a major weight loss to try lose 2 stone before mid August so I'm in a better position to get my BFP 🙈 it's so exciting it feels so far away but so close!

MintGreenLife · 13/05/2020 11:34

@abilouise93

It's a weird bag of emotions isn't it. We haven't decided to postpone yet as waiting to see what happens, but I feel much better now we have decided to go ahead and TTC anyway.

Ah I see - so are you going ahead and just doing the very small ceremony? We have invited 100 guests for our September wedding, so if your venue is saying only 5 people in total, looks like that won't be doable for us then! TBH I would rather just know what we are doing sooner rather than later. OH and me have agreed that if we can't have the 'wedding' we will just do a registry office wedding instead and postpone the 'wedding day' until next year hopefully by which time we will have had a new arrival...it's so tricky trying to time it all when you start thinking about it. Just going to try and go with the flow!

MintGreenLife · 13/05/2020 11:36

@Vil10 so nice you are so excited :) I feel excited too even though we have the mess and complications of a possibly postponed wedding on the cards too.

Thanks you're so sweet. Think the only thing you can do is just get on with it and hope for the best xx

MintGreenLife · 13/05/2020 11:37

@mrsgtobe97 Dominos sounds like an excellent plan :) have you set a new date for your big day in the future? Best of luck TTC, there are so many of us taking this approach :D

abilouise93 · 13/05/2020 11:40

@MintGreenLife we decided we didn’t want to have that as we wouldn’t be able to chose just two witnesses, fiancés parents are divorced so we have 6 to accommodate.

We have just pushed the whole thing back. Totally get the wanting to know one way or another so was glad the venue made the decision for me. As I was thinking I’d be upset if I cancelled and it could have gone ahead. We had 72 in daytime and additional 40 for evening.

I hoping I’ll have a bundle of joy and be able to feel good about my new date. Gives something else to focus on! Good luck and hope it occurs soon for you 🥰.

RDC2020 · 13/05/2020 11:45

@abilouise93 I was due to get married in July as well - we've moved it to next August instead. Which means I sort of want to get pregnant within the next 3 months (which might not even be realistic! 🙈🤷🏻‍♀️)
Already worried about my dress not fitting and I'm not even pregnant!

I had my coil removed a few weeks ago - the receptionist said they weren't doing those kinds of procedures but I asked them to ask the doctor... next day they rang back and said the doctor could do it. The coil is super easy to remove so not sure if that's why. Hope you manage to get your implant out soon!
