Hi there,
I’m very new to mumsnet and in my first month of trying to conceive.
All the info out there is really overwhelming and just wanted to start a thread for the people in the same boat.

So AF arrived in full force last night, bang on CD28. Its so hard not to be upset about it, even though this is our first month trying and I knew it was unlikely it's still so tough. And I absolutely hate having to tell my OH cause I know he wants this just as much as I do. Sorry to be so down just struggling this morning :(

jessmcg · 09/05/2020 11:20

@1izzie I’m so sorry to hear how you’re feeling. I’ve been there so many times so I can relate. Sending you ❤️ Xx

Aokbaby · 09/05/2020 11:21

@1izzie sending big hugs xx

mrsgtobe97 · 09/05/2020 11:29

@Mabeebabee87 have you got a superdrug near you? They do a click and collect in 30 mins so you could order it there then go pick it up today x

mrsgtobe97 · 09/05/2020 11:30

@Mabeebabee87 doh.. wrong thread 🙈

jbx10 · 09/05/2020 12:16

@kaptenkrusty I'm the same as you I think my drinking went up more when we went into lockdown but since coming off the pill I have tried to cut back down. Not drinking loads not just the odd glass of wine.

@1izzie sorry to hear, sending hugs! Xx

TTCgee · 09/05/2020 14:01

@1izzie sorry to hear you're feeling sad 😖 sending hugs. It is really tough when AF arrives - it always helps me to try and flip it and think of it as a brand new month / opportunity! (Still v hard every time though 😔) xxx

Rooza · 09/05/2020 14:19

So I've started my OPK today CD8 and I'm surprised to see a faint line I've never tested this early in my cycle. Do you always get a faint line? Or does it mean i would ovulate earlier this month, my normal cycle is 28 days.

mrsgtobe97 · 09/05/2020 14:23

I've started spotting today after faint positives, think it's a chemical 😫 xxx

jessmcg · 09/05/2020 14:51

@mrsgtobe97 Thinking of you. Are you sure it’s a chemical? How long into your cycle are you and how heavy is the spotting? A bit of spotting here & there is unlikely to be an issue. Too late for implantation bleeding? Xxx

mrsgtobe97 · 09/05/2020 14:53

@jessmcg cycle day 50 and definitely think too late, will see if it comes to anything but I'll tell the doctor when I get blood test results back Monday xx

Vil10 · 09/05/2020 15:01

@1izzie so sorry to hear you’re feeling like that! I felt exactly the same in March and April! Sending you love❤️
@mrsgtobe97 thinking of you and having everything crossed for your results to be what you want them to be on Monday!xx

jessmcg · 09/05/2020 15:04

@mrsgtobe97 Oh, I’m so sorry. I’m crossing fingers and toes that all is ok. Xx

Vil10 · 09/05/2020 15:13

This might sound dramatic but does anyone else think that they can never imagine themselves seeing that positive on a pregnancy test?? Whenever I try to imagine what it would be like to tell my partner that we’re pregnant, I find it impossible, maybe I’m being negative and dramatic but it’s something I always think about!

TTCgee · 09/05/2020 15:25

@mrsgtobe97 so sorry to hear this hope it all turns out okay xxx

@Vil10 yesss! All the time. It's like I've convinced myself I'm going to be the only one out of all my friends who can't. I even know it's irrational as it takes 80% of people longer than a month but it's hard not to feel that I think when it doesn't just happen like you hope it will! You're defo not alone xxx

KatieG200394 · 09/05/2020 15:57

@1izzie so sorry to hear you're feeling that way, sending big hugs xx
@mrsgtobe97 so sorry to hear this, hoping it all turns out okay for you xx

jules5232 · 09/05/2020 16:03

@Vil10 I'm 100% in the drink til its pink club. I try to limit usually anyway, but the stress of changing every aspect of my life before my whole life would drastically change just seems like more unnecessary stress. Plus I've read so many stories of pregnancies that happen after a wine drinking night because I'd imagine the body is more relaxed. Maybe if ttc goes on for a long time but not yet for us

jules5232 · 09/05/2020 16:08

@mrsgtobe97 I'm so sorry you're going theough this :/ I hope you can get some answers soon!

jessmcg · 09/05/2020 16:14

@Vil10 I think about this often and it stresses me out a bit that I can’t visualise it! Ever since we started TTC Ive had this weird feeling that I can’t see it happening for us and that I can’t see myself getting a positive test. Very much trying not to read into that though! Glad I’m not alone in my thinking lol

Aokbaby · 09/05/2020 16:25

@mrsgtobe97 sorry to hear this, hopefully it'll turn out to be spotting xx

Gsr14 · 09/05/2020 16:35

@Rooza a faint line is normal to have on the test, everyone is different but the picture I have attached is one of my negative tests. The line should get much darker.

@Vil10 I am exactly the same, I really cannot imagine seeing that second line on the test and have also convinced myself that we will be the ones who is doesn’t work for. We’ve only had 2 months of trying so it’s just negative thoughts getting the better of me but it’s a horrible feeling.

@mrsgtobe97 we are here for you, stay strong 💕

@TTCgee @jessmcg @Gsr14 I’m glad I’m not the only one, I thought I was really over reacting and thought I was the only one that thought things like that, I just always think I’ll be that one friend who it won’t happen for when it’s happening for everyone else around me, and I just can’t visualise seeing that positive!

@jules5232 I’m glad you’re still drinking too, I didn’t know whether I was doing something wrong, I suppose as long as we aren’t binge drinking, and like you said it eases people and relaxes them and puts them at ease! My friend had been trying for 8 months, ended up conceiving after a massive night out at a Liam Gallagher concert were she drank all day and she still says now she thinks it’s because she relaxed and had fun!

mrsgtobe97 · 09/05/2020 17:03

Thank you everyone, the spotting has gone and it was basically a tiny bit of brown blood, very confused :/ will see what comes of it later but maybe all is not lost. However fully ready for af to perhaps turn up tomorrow xx

jules5232 · 09/05/2020 17:04

Same here. Before I go to sleep I do try to visualize it happening, literally picture myself seeing two lines and telling my OH. Oddly it makes me feel a little more in control and just more optimistic. But I really do have this deep feeling like I'll be the one that it will never happen to. Maybe its normal?
One question for the group- I'm officially entering into the opk/ BD zone. AF ended yesterday. What are you ladies do during this time to get ready if anything? I'm assuming hydration is important but anything else. I also started trying some yoga meant for increased blood flow..

Gsr14 · 09/05/2020 18:18

@jules5232 I’m a couple of days off opk testing and bding but going to try really hard this month to be doing everything I can (feel a bit more in control of it that way).
My plan is to drink lots of water, do fertility yoga everyday and eat very healthy. Also going to take vitamin d, zinc, folic acid, iron vitamin c and omega 3.
If it doesn’t work then will try and have a month off doing anything extra as it’s hard work!
