Hi there,
I’m very new to mumsnet and in my first month of trying to conceive.
All the info out there is really overwhelming and just wanted to start a thread for the people in the same boat.

@mrsgtobe97 I think I see a line! 😁😁😁

Rooza · 08/05/2020 14:14

Hi everyone I'm also new to mumsnet and TTC, I hope I can join. We started in April but i didn't record anything no idea if I ovulated however, i took vitex which I think messed up my cycle normally mine is 28 days this time it was 30 since my period was late i tested but got bfn so here we are in May. I'm on cd7 I reckon I will start doing ovulation tests from tomorrow. I have used them before had some good results. Also, I've got a thyroid problem, which I've heard can mess up fertility taking thyroxine daily but no idea. Anyone else starting up a new cycle around now?

jessmcg · 08/05/2020 15:11

@Rooza welcome to the thread! I’m on CD4, so we will be TTC again in a few days time. Only a few days behind you!

Rooza · 08/05/2020 15:19

@jessmcg fingers crossed it's our month :)

jessmcg · 08/05/2020 15:30

@Rooza fingers crossed! I’ve been trying for a few months now, but really hoping it’ll happen soon 🤞. This group is a great support too which is brilliant.

TTCgee · 08/05/2020 15:56

Hey @Rooza I'm thinking I'll be AF tomorrow/ Sunday so will be on my 4th cycle from Monday! Anyone else? Xx

TheDaydreamBelievers · 08/05/2020 16:20

Hello,

Hope I can join Smile. New to Mumsnet.

I'm 31yrs, just about to start TTC. Cutting back on coffee Brew, no alcohol, and taking my folic acid and vitamin D!

I've armed myself with pregnancy tests, ovulation tests, basal thermometer and an app. Just trying to work out what on earth is going on with my cycle now I've come off the pill (12 years on it, now CD 52 with no period in sight). Fingers crossed it regulates soon Confused.

Aokbaby · 08/05/2020 16:44

@Rooza hi there, I'll be starting up my next cycle on Sunday🙂

Vil10 · 08/05/2020 16:50

@TheDaydreamBelievers hello! It seems like you’re doing everything and more of what you can but don’t worry, your period will come it might just take some time, everyone is different! I came off last day in Jan, had my withdrawal bleed the week after in feb then 35 days later had first natural period then 9 days later had another one, completely missed one in April then af appeared yesterday after 42 days! I found the worst thing I was doing was worrying and stressing about it, if you just relax, and do everything that you are doing it’ll appear and hopefully you’ll have more of a routine when it does! Being in this group helps so much too!x

TheDaydreamBelievers · 08/05/2020 16:54

Thanks @Vil10! I'm definitely one of life's worriers (if you couldn't guess, haha). Glad to have this group to bounce things off of, and sending the best of luck to everyone Smile.

jessmcg · 08/05/2020 16:55

@TheDaydreamBelievers welcome!!! You’re doing all the right things. 😁 A lot of people (myself included!) didn’t realise that you have to prepare your body when TTC. This is a lovely group too for support, so welcome 😊

Vil10 · 08/05/2020 16:58

@TheDaydreamBelievers hahaha I’m very much a worrier too and that’s the reason I joined in this group, it helps so much when you read up about women who are in the same situation as you, and get advice too! It seems so complicated when we are doing what we can to prepare our bodies to conceive yet so many people get pregnant so easily and quickly without giving it a second thought!!

Vil10 · 08/05/2020 17:04

Has everyone else on here cut out drinking alcohol completely?? I mean I’m not a binge drinker and I never ever drink during the week, and only drink if I go out (not a fan of drinking in the house), but since lockdown when the weather is lovely and the OH is working, I seem to be drinking more often than before lockdown, but now I’m wondering whether I should knock it on the head completely to give myself a better chance of conceiving?

TheDaydreamBelievers · 08/05/2020 17:18

@Vil10 For me, I'm not really an alcohol person anyway (although a wee G&T has been nice in the sunshine). CMO/NHS recommendation is to avoid alcohol when TTC or pregnant (and for your male partner to cut back too) so I've decided to go with that Smile.

Anyone know how much coffee is okay for TTC? We got a lovely coffee machine pre-lockdown and it has been getting me through working from home!

KaptenKrusty · 08/05/2020 17:22

Hello!

Sorry to butt into someone else thread! First month ttc as well - period due in 5 days !

Lovely sunny bank holiday today and my husband has made me a cocktail - am battling with whether I should be drinking or not? In case I am indeed pregnant! What’s people’s thoughts?

Rayrayj · 08/05/2020 18:11

@TheDaydreamBelievers it's recommended to have 1 coffee max per day but also don't stress if you've had a bit more. I've switched to one regular coffee and the rest decaf but it's not easy!

Rooza · 08/05/2020 18:42

@Vil10 I've cut out alcohol almost completely but during my last period just felt like having a glass of wine ( i was down and anxious about the TWW - the two week wait) so when it was finally over had to relax.

Coffee I CANNOT live without. Having like two cups a day so not alot.

TTCgee · 08/05/2020 18:49

@KaptenKrusty I've been thinking exactly the same. Not had a drink since ovulation date but it is tempting in the sun (especially when you think you're 90% not)! I think I'm going to try and not drink during the two week wait but enjoy the odd glass of wine from getting AF and leading up to ovulation so I don't have to completely stop (in case it takes us ages and to take some of the pressure off!) xxx

Vil10 · 08/05/2020 19:03

@Rooza yeah that’s what I’m like now, I just felt like having a couple, ended up only having 1 passion fruit cider anyway, I didn’t drink during the TWW last cycle, so maybe I just be more conscious about what I’m drinking! I have 1 black coffee 5/6 mornings a week but I can live without it, they say 1/2 cups of caffeine is fine so don’t worry yourself on that one!x

KaptenKrusty · 08/05/2020 19:11

Thanks @TTCgee I’ve had the one cocktail - but just made myself a nice soda, lime and elderflower drink without my usual vodka added and will just drink that for the rest of our evening! It’s only a few more days to wait and see and if I’m not pregnant then I can have a drink if I feel like it next weekend I suppose :)

GAT93 · 08/05/2020 19:40

Hi,
Hope you don't mind me joining this group! I've been watching for a few days, so many messages to keep up on!
We're TTC for the first time. But the last couple of months I've had 46-48 day cycles (I'm a nurse and think covid stress has got the better of me) so unsure where I actually am in my cycle right now. Been regularly DTD, but really feel like it's not my month.
So many inspiring people on here though, and wish you all the best of luck - Including those that have had BFP!

Gsr14 · 08/05/2020 19:58

@Vil10 I decided to cut alcohol out completely because I don’t drink a lot anyway and during lock down haven’t felt the urge because I only really drink with friends in a social setting. However.... @Rooza I am currently on af and had a couple of cold beers in the sun today, I agree with you, it feels nice as a little reward after you have such an intense tww

OP posts:
jessmcg · 08/05/2020 20:56

@Vil10 The past two months I’ve drastically reduced my alcohol intake to up my chances of TTC. It just makes me feel like I’m doing all I can! It’s been easy because like you @Gsr14 I only ever drink with friends and due to the lockdown we’ve not been out at all obviously! I might treat myself to a glass of rose in the sun tomorrow if the weather is good though as I’m on AF and not treated myself since it came on a few days back.

@KaptenKrusty welcome to the thread! I don’t ever really drink in the 2WW but if you have one it is unlikely to do any harm, but best to avoid it!

KaptenKrusty · 08/05/2020 22:02

Thanks @jessmcg

Im the opposite to you guys - I usually don’t drink at home only on nights out Like you ! But since lockdown - being furloughed and doing lots of zoom calls my drinking increased massively to pretty much every Friday!

Il cut back a bit now though and won’t be drinking during those 2 weeks anymore - don’t want to hinder my chances!

The suspense of waiting another 5 days or so to see if my period arrives though 🙄 haha 😂

Vil10 · 09/05/2020 10:50

@jessmcg I might cut down as well, like you said at least then I’m doing everything I can!x
