Hi there,
I’m very new to mumsnet and in my first month of trying to conceive.
All the info out there is really overwhelming and just wanted to start a thread for the people in the same boat.

@Gsr14 thank you, I think I might just get vitamin c and zinc for my OH too.
Hope it works out for you soon xx

jules5232 · 06/05/2020 02:14

I've been taking a prenatal on and off but it breaks my skin out so bad. I read some people have breakouts because of the excess b12. Normally my skin is really clear so it frustrates me so much that I barely take them. Does this happen to anyone else?

jbx10 · 06/05/2020 08:45

Thank you everyone, this is so helpful! I think I’ll get my OH some zinc & vitamin C tablets for now and then might look to get the pregnacare tablets.

Has anyone told any family/friends they are TTC? I don’t want to add any additional pressure on ourselves But my OH is so excited i think he’ll struggle to keep it to himself! Xx

Gsr14 · 06/05/2020 09:34

@jbx10 and @KatieG200394 Holland and Barrat do effervescent tablets with both vit c and zinc (see picture)
A tube is only around £3.50 and I just drop it in water and put the glass in front of OH, easiest way to get him to take it 😂

We haven’t told anyone that we are ttc for exactly why you said, don’t want the pressure! Having this thread is really helpful for me as I know I have people to talk to about everything who know how it feels.

I've had bad cramps this morning and AF is due Monday so I'm pretty much ruled out this month :( I know plenty of people try for months and months and eventually get their BFP but it's so hard not to be hopeful, just feeling very rubbish today :(

Aokbaby · 06/05/2020 10:10

@1izzie I'm in the same boat, af made an appearance this morning, so sure it had happened this month, gutted!! So glad I've joined this group with people who understand what it feels like! Friends (pregnant friends may I add) keep saying it'll happen, don't worry but you can't help but worry. Big hugs to you xx

@jbx10 we decided not to tell family that we're TTC as it'll be a constant stream of questions/expectation and I couldn't take the pressure 🙈

Vil10 · 06/05/2020 10:16

As my af is still so irregular and I didn’t have one last month I have no idea when I’m due, but I started with light cramps a few days ago and have had really light spotting for the last 2 days but only when I wiped, it’s a bit more this morning but still only a little bit when I wipe, it’s a light pinky brownish colour, maybe this has been my month without me even knowing it??

@jbx10 we haven’t told anyone we are TTC either, like you said it’s more pressure when people know, and we didn’t want the constant “soo are you pregnant yet” we also thought it would be a really nice surprise as for both our parents it will be their first time being grandparents x

jbx10 · 06/05/2020 10:31

@Gsr14 thank you I’ll get some of those over the weekend. Will make it much easier to get the OH to take them!😂

@aokbaby & @Gsr14I know I completely agree, just don’t want those questions or that pressure. Just hoping my OH can keep it between us for now. Sorry to hear AF made an appearance sending hugs to you. I know it’s easier to say but try not to let it get you down were still early on in our journeys.
Im just in my first couple of weeks of my coming off the pill no AF yet, but I did have EWCM yesterday & a couple of cramps but I think my body is probably still adjusting to coming off the pill xxx

Gsr14 · 06/05/2020 10:38

@1izzie I’m going through the exact same thing, af is due on Saturday but had cramps past few days and still today so I’m 90% sure it’s on it’s way. Like you, I’m feeling pretty down about it! Kind of just want it to come now so that I can get on with it and start the next cycle!

@Gsr14 thanks for that tip, finding it very hard not to get carried away and spend too much but I guess because its all new to us we're very excited, so that's really helpful about the Holland and Barrett onea, thank you xx

@jbx10 we're not telling anyone we're ttc either because of the added pressure plus one of my best friends is also ttc but has been struggling with it for over a year so I didn't want to accidentally make her feel more pressured but also struggling with not telling my mum because of the excitement xx

Nutella0305 · 06/05/2020 10:56

@Vil10
Really interesting what you said about spotting. I had exactly the same last month with a brownish red spotting only when I wiped and I read on google that it was a sign of early pregnancy ....got all excited and 2 days later AF arrived !!!! So it could well be your early symptoms but then again could be same as me . I got my Hope's up and truly believed it was my month ....keep us posted best of luck xxxx

Nutella0305 · 06/05/2020 10:59

@Aokbaby thinking of you lots . Xx and I know what it's like to have those pregnant friends who just found it so easy and try to be helpful and they're not . The worst is when they moan they feel rubbish and im like you should actually he grateful you are expecting some of us have been trying 4 a while now !!!! Lots of luck xxx

Vil10 · 06/05/2020 11:00

@Nutella0503 isn’t it strange what our bodies do, I’m trying my best not to get my hopes up and my OH, who’s very laid back has been saying the same, not to get too excited until we know for definite, but it’s so hard not to symptom spot! Thankyou though it’s worth knowing! I’ll keep you posted, Thankyou!!xxxx

Nutella0305 · 06/05/2020 11:04

@vil10
Aww all the best , really hope it is your month . I'm 9 dpo and took a pregnancy test because I knew it would be a bfn so just did it to settle my.mind lol i think it's too early anyway but have a feeling its defo not my month . My " impatient womens guide to getting pregnant is arriving tomorrow" !!!! My husband is relaxed as well and it's a good job coz I am so highly strung about the whole situation . Probably need to relax and it will happen xxx

Aokbaby · 06/05/2020 11:06

@Pol96 thanks so much, this month was the first month I noticed ewcm so i think they're doing something, which is great x

Aokbaby · 06/05/2020 11:12

@Nutella0305 I had the same spotting symptoms that you mentioned there this month and was so convinced it was my month too, it sucks!!
Yea exactly, one friend said to me you need to stop trying and then it'll happen Hmm it's hard to be so excited and happy for them when you're so sad for yourself. Gonna try and be positive for next cycle. Thanks for your support xx

Nutella0305 · 06/05/2020 11:15

@Aokbaby
It so does . When my af came I was so upset I was like how dare you do this to me !!!!! When you have it so firmly set in your mind that it is your month and then it isnt its just gutting
But so glad we all have each other on here because the best thing is we are all in exactly same boat ......
Earlier in the thread you mentioned your skin broke out when coming off pill . Mine did the same . It was horrendous and it's only starting to calm down now . The Joy's of being a woman !!!
Keep smiling we are in this together xxxx

Pol96 · 06/05/2020 11:16

@Aokbaby that's okay! I noticed more ewcm this month too so hoping it's doing something.. I'm about 3dpo now..

2 people know about us ttc, my best friend (she doesn't ask too much as she knows I get stressed) and another friend who's currently 15 weeks.. Which is kinda hard as hers was completely unplanned..

Aokbaby · 06/05/2020 11:23

Just bought some opks and have just started my af, do you just start using opks as soon as af is over? I did try them before sort of sporadically as I only had 10, I've bought 50 this time and gonna test everyday just need to know when to start🙈

Thanks so much everyone, as @Nutella0305 said we are all in this together 💕 xx

Vil10 · 06/05/2020 11:26

@Nutella0305 aw well I have everything crossed for you, it may just have been too early to test!! Hopefully that will help to ease your mind reading that, I’m going to get mine ordered today! I keep saying to myself I need to relax but it’s so much easier said than done! At least we all have each other in this group and we all understand what the other one is going through!

@Aokbaby I know exactly how you feel! So many of my friends have either just had a baby or pregnant at the minute and I love being able to see the babies and spend time with them (before lockdown obviously) and I’m so so happy for my friends but I can’t help but feel a little bit jealous, just hoping it happens for me one day!x

Gsr14 · 06/05/2020 12:00

@Vil10 I can really relate to trying not to be jealous of friends who have their babies or are pregnant! For me it seems impossible to imagine that it actually might be me one day.

@Aokbaby I would recommend testing twice a day as soon as your af stops, once around 12pm and again around 6pm. Then when the line gets dark test at 12pm, 4pm and 8pm. It sounds like a lot and if you aren’t stuck at home isn’t that realistic but it really helping me track exactly when I ovulated last month. Also give you something to do that feels productive during the wait!

@Gsr14 ok great I'll start with that, thank-you xx

1izzie · 06/05/2020 13:06

@Aokbaby @Gsr14 it really sucks doesn't it! I think I'm just finding this harder than I thought it would be!

MrsLully · 06/05/2020 13:17

Hi! I think I will be joining you! We have just started TTC baby number two. My first one is almost 16 months old and we don't want them to be much more than 3 years apart or so. Also thinking about selling our house and moving. It's the worst possible time but we are not getting any younger, sadly Grin

Aokbaby · 06/05/2020 13:42

@1izzie it sure does. I think I just presumed it would happen first time and have been disappointed ever since. Doesn't help when af is all over the place, then someone tells you they still had 2 periods before discovering they were pregnant-always have that glimmer of hope🙈 sooo annoying x
