Hi there,
I’m very new to mumsnet and in my first month of trying to conceive.
All the info out there is really overwhelming and just wanted to start a thread for the people in the same boat.

@BelleDell I’d never even considered that! I always just thought it was my mind playing tricks on me, but that’s something my mind would do 🤣 xx

jules5232 · 28/04/2020 15:33

So are we mostly all testing next week sometime?? How fun!

Gsr14 · 28/04/2020 16:02

@jules5232 yeah I think next week it’s you, me, @jessmcg, @Vee89 and @BelleDell

So exciting! Sending lots of baby dust and keeping my fingers crossed for all of us 💕

@mrsgtobe97 try to collect the first urine of the day to do the test with because that will be more concentrated with hcg!

Good luck!

@MintGreenLife
I too am also new to this chat ! So hello everyone:) very encouraging to hear others experiences. I too came off the pill in view of trying to conceive , for 1st baby . I came off in January and my periods came back 4 weeks later. I have had fairly long periods but ovulated around day 16 each month . Nothing has happened yet but hoping it will soon . Mucus testing is useful but I guess can be confusing as well especially if just off pill it does take up to 6 months the doc said for body to regulate. My doctor initially told me allow 3 months for periods and ovulation to come back into a routine after the pill ....hope this helps Good luck and kit !

mrsgtobe97 · 29/04/2020 08:51

All negative 😭

MintGreenLife · 29/04/2020 09:51

@Nutella0503

That's great your periods came back so quickly, I'm hoping mine do the same! That's interesting what your doc said. The only thing mine said is that you can start ovulating right away, so was left feeling a little uncertain about what's normal re periods etc. Wishing you the best of luck :) x

Gsr14 · 29/04/2020 11:08

@mrsgtobe97 oh no! Go eats lots of yummy food and don’t be too hard on yourself 😊 the disappointment is so horrible but (as cliche as it is) it’s just not meant to be this time but your day will come 💕

Hi Ladies,

I’ve been catching up on this thread and would love to join! Congrats to those who have got BFP and sending lots of luck to those of us trying 😌

I’ve been off the pill for a while now but still having very irregular cycles. We have been pretty relaxed but would like to start TTC this month so have purchased some ovulation tests. Would you recommend using them every day or judging by cycle/CM?

Gsr14 · 29/04/2020 11:23

@brooke20 welcome to the thread! I would definitely recommend using the ovulation tests as once you get your head around them they are easy to use and should give you a really precise idea of when you ovulate :)

@mrsgtobe97 Thinking of you and hope you’re ok. I know how you must be feeling! The disappointment is crippling after getting your hopes up. Try to stay positive and do something to take your mind off it if you can although I know that’s way more difficult to do and say in a lockdown environment! Xx

jessmcg · 29/04/2020 11:58

Welcome @Brooke20!
Definitely use ovulation kits. I’ve got irregular cycles at the moment and finding them really useful to figure things out. 🙂

Brooke20 · 29/04/2020 12:44

Thank you @Gsr14 Did you test every day or when you suspected you were ovulating?

@jessmcg glad I’m not the only one with irregular cycles (mine can be anything from 40 to 80 days)! Although I’ve started taking Vitex which I’ve heard can help

Gsr14 · 29/04/2020 12:55

@brooke20 so the day after I finished my last period I tested every day at 12pm, then when the line started to get a bit darker (which was CD 11) I tested 3 times a day, 12pm, 4pm, 8pm. The next day (CD 12) at 4pm the line went really dark so I knew I would ovulation the next day (CD 13). After that I kept testing 3 times a day but the line got really light again so now just testing once a day until I get af or bfp!

I think it’s a good idea to get into the habit of testing everyday because you might have a late or early ovulation and will miss it if not testing the whole month.

Does anyone on here use pre-natals ? I've been taking conception pregnancare tablets , they had really good reviews on Amazon which I found encouraging . Especially those that hadn't been able to get pregnant and after a few months of taking them became pregnant. Just wondered if any of you had any experience with them ?
I ovulated day 17 now into the second day of the dreaded TWW . Last month I believed I had all the symptoms, felt sick , dizzy, fainted and ended up at doctors and turned out my dreaded AF was just late !!!!!! I am going to try and take my mind off it and get some spring cleaning done Haha lol

Gsr14 · 29/04/2020 13:37

@Nutella0503 I saw they had really food reviews but a couple of ladies on this thread said is messed with their cycle and as in usually really regular I thought it was best to try without them first. I think in a couple of months if nothing happens then I will give them a try

Nutella0305 · 29/04/2020 13:58

@Gsr14
Thanks for that that's really interesting . I used to have irregular cycles before going on the pill so I am used to them, since coming off pill and starting these tablets they have been average, ranging between 28 -34 days and ovulating day 17 I'm not a clockwork like some tho. Aww yeah , hope it works for you soon too !! Xx

jessmcg · 29/04/2020 14:37

@Nutella0503 Hi there! I’ve just started on the Pregnacare conception tablets. So far, so good, but my cycles have been a bit irregular for a couple of months anyway, so nothing different there. The reviews looked really promising, I agree. We’ve been trying for a while now, so I’m really praying they’ll have a positive impact! My OH is also on the ones for men. So, let’s see! Not cheap, but if they work then I’m up for spending the money.

Nutella0305 · 29/04/2020 14:46

@jessmcg
Same here ! I put him on them a couple of weeks after I started mine and I definitely dont forget to make him have it ! Lol
As u say they are expensive so let's hope they are worth the cost and give us a bfp soon !!!!
Not as if we can go to docs right now for prescribed meds so I guess this is the best we can do in the meantime
Wishing you lots of luck , hope it happens soon xxx

Pol96 · 29/04/2020 15:13

Hi everyone, so this is my first time posting ever on any online chat.. I've read the entire thread (and many others!) congrats to bfps so far!
A bit about me.. been with my partner for 9 1/2 years and we've just started ttc properly, haven't used contraception for a year or so, so haven't been preventing. I have kinda irregular periods last cycle 43 days, cycle before 37 days, cycle before 42 days (was on BC pill for 8ish years) no idea what my cycles were like before as was so young. Know I ovulate (at least I know I did last month as started bbt then).. Guess just thought I'd post on here as I don't want to keep hassling my dp 😂

jessmcg · 29/04/2020 15:26

@Nutella0503 Let’s hope! Got my fingers crossed for you too. I was really hoping to get some tests done to check everything’s working properly but then lockdown came in and everything got cancelled! So prenatals & lots of hope is all I’ve got for now! xxx
