Hi there,
I’m very new to mumsnet and in my first month of trying to conceive.
All the info out there is really overwhelming and just wanted to start a thread for the people in the same boat.

@Gsr14 just as a warning she doesn't give you much time to rest 😂 definitely search beginner's if it's newer to you, but if not then enjoy! I'll be going for a walk soon with hubby and dog as sun seems to be peaking through, then home for daily pilates dose 😊 try to keep myself busy today I think

@Katbaby - lucky! It's torrential rain here in Cambridgeshire! We are about to have a huge brunch to reward ourselves for this morning's workout.

@Gsr14 I probably would! The peak OPK time can be as short as 4 hours, so it prevents you missing it when the lines get darker

@MrsEmilyB @Gsr14 oh my god my brain is totally screwed now!! So I get this right: I test once a day until the line gets darker and then test like 3 times a day to see when I hit my peak, and then 24 hours after the darkest line is when's best to DTD?

@Nicolamca - almost! I test once a day from the day after my period. Usually around 5pm. When the line gets darker, I'll start testing 2-3 times a day (usually midday, 4pm, 8pm). When the line is as dark or darker than the control line, that means I'll ovulate within 24-72 hours. I also keep an eye on CM and my BBT for clues.

We played it by ear last month, but I'm generally super up for it in my fertile window, so we have sex daily during that. But if I'm planning it - we'll DTD every other day after AF has stopped, until that line is getting quite strong, almost as dark as the control line on the OPK. Then we'll BD daily until CM/BBT confirms ovulation is done and dusted, then it's the 2ww.

Does that make sense? I'm rubbish at explaining stuff

@Nicolamca sperm can survive up to 5 days, and your fertile window is about 6 days, so even BD every other day is great!

@MrsEmilyB ahhh that makes sense! Okay, hubby is in for a treat with lots of DTD hahaha 😂

@Nicolamca - baby dancing every other day keeps his swimmers happy, healthy and mobile! But, relax, else it'll become a chore! It's so difficult to get that balance between relaxing and planning!!

Hi everyone! I wasn't going to use opk's but I'm paranoid about missing it now! Which ones are people using? Ideally don't want to spend too much!

@1izzie I've just bought some cheap ones off amazon, they're just called 30x one step tests. Haven't tried them yet but they were well reviewed!

Thanks @Nicolamca they're the best sellers on Amazon as well so I'll give them a go - thank you! I worry I'm gonna make myself crazy with them 😂

@1izzie I use the one step ones off amazon, they are really easy to use (read the instructions fully before you start). At first you’ll probably get a little obsessed with testing but after a few days it gets easier and you don’t think about it.

@1izzie I've been using the pregmate strips and they are pretty inexpensive and have great reviews!

@MrsEmilyB sorry to hear you have rubbish weather we are in the North East and its lovely and sunny but not warm at all!

I had a fair bit of blood again when I went to the bathroom this morning before my walk really thought it was af and had a good cry about it, put in a tampon and went about my day. So far nothing on tampon or since... Is she toying with me or what?! Still think if no proper flow tonight I'm gonna go ahead and still test tomorrow. If bfn then will accept that faint line was potentially a chemical and that full flow is on the way

Caved and tested last night.. So top one is Friday afternoon, bottom one about 10 o'clock last night.. Bleeding has lessened. Hubby making me wait til Monday to test again... Can I get excited yet?! 😬

Or is it too faint 🙃

@Katbaby defo see a line on both and its progressed in terms of darkness. How many dpo?? Eeeekkkkk. I said this was a lucky thread.

@Nic2908 I don't know, it was my first post pill cycle and I haven't had a period since my withdrawal bleed in December so when I ovulated is anyones guess! Was planning on getting bbt thermometer for next cycle but hopefully won't need to now 🤞

How are you getting on?

@Katbaby so exciting and happy for you! So many Christmas babies on this thread now 😀 Are you going to test again today or give it a few days? As you don't know the ovulation date when you start getting stronger positives maybe getting a digital test which says how many weeks may be useful x

@Natt99 poor babies being born at Christmas haha. I always said I wouldn't want a December baby but as the months went on with out a period now I just don't care haha. Reckon if I concieved about 2 weeks ago then I would be due Christmas week 🤣🤣 poor baby.

I'm gonna test tomorrow again and then I do have a pack of digital I ordered of amazon that I will do if I get a stronger positive on another frer tomorrow

@Natt99 that's one thing I haven't really had is sore boobs.. Which I don't know if I should be concerned about the lack of soreness. Have you been having any cramps or anything I have quite a sore lower back and cramps I didn't sleep well last night
