Hi everyone who read this! My typical cycle is 34-37 days long but everyone I talk to seems to have shorter cycles. I'm looking for others like myself who have long cycles and are ttc :) we are trying for our first baby x

@Pol96 my period is due around 14th June so I'm not sure when I'll test tbh lol when did you get your bfp again??

@Newbie0818 I'm not usually this bad until just before my period, hoping it's a good sign too lol I've been off my pill since October 2018, we never said we were trying but just weren't being careful! This is the first month I've actually confirmed I ovulated :) you?

Pol96 · 07/06/2020 15:19

@Newbie0818 very true!

@xoJellyBean 10dpo I got my very faint line on the femometer tests

Newbie0818 · 07/06/2020 15:45

@xoJellyBean ah it must be nice to know you've ovulated then. I'm similar, came off pill in August 2018 and have been unprotected, but not properly tracking etc until November x

xoJellyBean · 07/06/2020 16:21

@Newbie0818 it defo is, I feel calmer and not so rushed about testing early lol we are sort of similar then! How old are you? Sorry if I've asked before 😂

@Pol96 10dpo that's amazing 😍 do you think I should wait until af is due before I test?

OP posts:
xoJellyBean · 07/06/2020 16:23

@Newbie0818 @hollywhooo when are you both going to test?

OP posts:
Pol96 · 07/06/2020 16:44

@xoJellyBean it'd be hypocritical of me to say wait lol.. I was testing from 7dpo lol.. My line was clearer at 14 dpo and that's when I did my first frer and got a good line.. So waiting definitely gives you better lines but equally it's so hard not to test early x

We are literally all in the same boat haha i came off the pill April 2019 but “weren’t trying”
Hmm i think my periods due around the 16th (rough guess mind) so i think i’ll wait til at least then to test. I’m pretty sure AF will arrive tho, i definitely haven’t had enough sex for it to happen haha

Newbie0818 · 07/06/2020 17:42

@pol96 aww I love seeing a positive test! Gives me hope.

@hollywhooo and @xoJellyBean I've just turned 27. I get really anxious about testing, last cycle a Mumsnet chat group literally coached me through it ahah! I probably won't test and if af doesn't show up I might be brave enough?! Flo reckons I'm due af on 17th, but if I do test it won't be at least until after 20th. I'm not going to trust any "symptoms" either as from experience I've had them all and it's always af! Eek!

xoJellyBean · 07/06/2020 17:52

@hollywhooo I don't think we dtd enough either lol I was too busy getting the hang of OPKs and temps! 😂

@Newbie0818 I've just turned 27 too, in May :) my work is getting busier so hopefully it'll distract me from any 'symptoms' too!

@Pol96 can't wait until we are posting our bfps to show you! You'll have to post your scan too when you get it 🥰

OP posts:
Pol96 · 07/06/2020 18:07

@xoJellyBean @hollywhooo once is enough! We dtd the day before ovulation and that was the only time in the fertile week!
And ofc ill post my scan! When I eventually get one lol might chase up my referral this week.

Can't wait to see all your bfps! Then we can have a long cycle graduates thread!

hollywhooo · 07/06/2020 18:08

@Newbie0818 @xoJellyBean i’m also 27! Haha.
I know it sounds bad but i just can’t imagine myself getting a BFP i think its a defence mechanism to just tell myself that AF will arrive to soften the blow.
I think i’ll test no sooner than the 17th. I’ve given up on symptom spotting, i take medication for hormonal migraines and every time i get one i wonder if it’s a positive sign & my levels are rising. It never is haha x

xoJellyBean · 07/06/2020 18:22

@hollywhooo omg all these coincidences have to be a sign 🥺😂 i usually get sore boobs and spots on my neck on the run up to af so if I get those I don't think I'll test! 🙈 at least if our periods arrive together then we can start the next month with high hopes :)

@Pol96 omg really?? That's amazing! Did you say how long you were trying? My hubby's cousin got pregnant after one time in the month twice, and she never stops telling me. She's due tomorrow with baby #2.

I'm so thankful for this thread 🤩

hollywhooo · 07/06/2020 18:27

Sorry @Pol96 i didn’t see your post but that’s sooo good to know, thank you!!!
@xoJellyBean me tooooo 😍 i’ve been invited to my friends virtual baby shower next weekend, she’s due her 2nd, both were accidents 🙄 she didnt even know she was pregnant the first time x

Pol96 · 07/06/2020 18:36

@xoJellyBean yep.. I managed to stab my hand with a kitchen knife at the start of the fw and then just felt rough throughout it..
So I came of the pill march 2018, stopped using contraception last summer thinking if it happens it happens great! Obviously it didn't lol so when we bought our home we decided to properly start ttc so started tracking etc in the middle of march this year and got my bfp in May. X

Pol96 · 07/06/2020 18:37

No worries @hollywhooo!

xoJellyBean · 07/06/2020 19:05

@hollywhooo we seem to be the last to get pregnant lol there was a while there that I was getting messages every week of new pregnancies! Does anyone know you're trying?

@Pol96 ouch!! Sounds sore lol you've given us hope though 🤩

Do any of you have pets by the way? We have a 3 year old lab and I'm starting to worry about how careful he will be if we go have a little bundle 😂 he's literally my child, so he's spoiled!

OP posts:
hollywhooo · 07/06/2020 19:48

@xoJellyBean my mum knows i’m off the pill and my best friend knows. She struggled to get pregnant and had a few miscarriages so she’s really helpful to talk to. I just try and remind myself that i am lucky to have a lovely boyfriend, a happy life and a job i love and it will happen when it happens 🤞🏼 What about you??
We have a dog too, she’s 9 though and used to kids, my step daughter doesn’t leave her alone haha

Newbie0818 · 07/06/2020 19:51

@xoJellyBean @hollywhooo ah no way all 27! My bday was 25th May so I'm still in denial 😅
I had tonnes of ewcm earlier and have been having cramps all day so now I'm paranoid I haven't ovulated 🙈 such a worrier!

@Pol96 you got so lucky with that one time, I've literally DTD every other day this cycle and everyday since Monday 🤣 knackered!

Animals seem to be instinctive towards babies, I'm sure it'll be fine. Least I hope so, we're picking up our little pup in a week! We already have a tortoise 🐢

Pol96 · 07/06/2020 20:01

@Newbie0818 we were doing every other day but it was exhausting! We didn't want it to become forced and it just happened to be once at the right time. I'm very aware at how lucky we were and really hoping it all sticks!

@xoJellyBean we have 2 cats hoping it won't become an issue!

Newbie0818 · 07/06/2020 20:43

@pol96 I know what you mean, it's been such a task this week 😖 I've never tried the SMEP approach before though so thought it was worth a shot. Hopefully we won't have to do it again 😂

xoJellyBean · 07/06/2020 20:47

@hollywhooo aw that's great your best friend can give you advice :) I have only told the girl I share an office with at work - she's also ttc!

@Newbie0818 my birthday was 10th of May! I still accidentally say I'm 26 lol are you still testing? You have dtd so much girl, well done 😂 I had right I very pain briefly earlier and I also panicked a bit lol. 🙈

@Pol96 I love cats too! My dog is so needy lol I wonder will he be able to tell I'm pregnant when the time comes 😱

OP posts:
Newbie0818 · 07/06/2020 21:39

@xoJellyBean nah I've stopped opk testing, if my temp keeps rising I'll just assume. It's nice you can share with the girl in your office. I haven't told anyone at all so mumsnet is such a great support.

Newbie0818 · 07/06/2020 22:05

Sorry, meant to say I stopped opk testing as they were getting lighter so I assumed that the dark one was near my peak.

Fujexa · 08/06/2020 10:04

@Newbie0818 thanks for asking! Just did a preg test and BFN but considering we've temporarily been using contraception its not surprising...had to know though Grin STILL getting the flashing smileys, my app is giving predicted ovulation as the end of this week based on predicted cycle length - but given that my cycle length is so crazy, and I've been getting flashing smileys with 3 weeks then I'm sceptical!! But will keep using the ovulation kit for now just to see what happens.

On the pet front, we have 2 dogs and I actually work with animals, and I worry a bit about introducing a new baby too... most of the time of course everything goes fine, and some pets seem to know you're pregnant and understand intuitively, but it is well worth getting some professional advice on how to best introduce a new baby to pets. Ideally it starts before you ever bring baby home from hospital so its good to be prepared in advance! Our dogs are our first two babies so we want it all to go smoothly Grin

SarahTTC2020 · 08/06/2020 10:05

Doesn't look good for me this cycle ladies, the has gone down 3bpm which signals AF is coming (due weds) and got a couple of breakouts too.
Is anyone doing anything to actively try and shorten their cycles? Seems unfair we get less tries in a year🙈
