TTC after ectopic pregnancy

Mumlili9 · 25/02/2020 03:22

Hello I'm hoping to chat with other ladies ttc after ectopic pregnancy with tubal removal. I recently had an ectopic pregnancy and lost my left tube. I don't know anyone who has been through this so I've no one to talk to about this. I would love this tread to become a kind of support group where we can support each other on the scary journey of ttc.

@Springandsummer123 I've been scared each time I think it's happened! I ended up organising a private scan with my dd as they agreed to see me earlier (I ruptured at 6weeks but the nhs won't scan before then) so think it was about 5+4 with her. I would do the same again next time tbh as it was a much nicer experience than my early scans at the local hospital. Although last month i arranged to have them under the hospital I had my home birth with before I knew it was a chemical. We will still be entitled to scans as we are higher risk and a known but symptomless ectopic is easier to manage than an emergency one, but e will probably have to attend alone for now.

My bbt dropped again today so assuming I'm out, annoying as now I'm now worried my progesterone levels are off- always something!.

Feeling much better today though thanks @mumlili9. Try not to worry if you've peaked slightly early, it might still be 48 hours before you actually ovulate (so my app tells me!) And at least it means it's all working!

Mumlili9 · 30/03/2020 13:22

@Sammyclaire22 hi hun thanks but I'm fairly sure I've already ovulated as cm has now gone white and creamy and the pain in my bad side is starting to settle down now. Did you have a high temp with your illness. Just thinking that the bbt drop could be your temp coming down as your getting better.

Where did you have the private scan? That is what is worrying me, needing to get a scan. The hospital left it too late with me. That is why my tube ruptured and I lost it. I went in on a Monday and they were unsure until I had my ‘emergency’ surgery on a Friday afternoon. I live in London. Anyone got recommendations if I get lucky?

I get pains now. I get paranoid about them. When I had my ectopic I could barely walk and it even hurt when I peed.

Ivybutterfly · 30/03/2020 17:32

I am scared I won’t get pregnant while being scared that I will. 😂😂

Springandsummer123 · 30/03/2020 18:22

Anyone else in/near the TWW? Can't remember where everyone is in their cycles!

Ivybutterfly · 30/03/2020 18:43

I just had my period. 🙁

Springandsummer123 · 30/03/2020 19:11

Is this your third month of trying @Ivybutterfly? Fingers crossed it happens this month!

Ivybutterfly · 30/03/2020 20:05

Second month. Fingers crossed for all of us. Xx

Mumlili9 · 30/03/2020 21:27

@Springandsummer123 I'm 1dpo

OP posts:
Sammyclaire22 · 30/03/2020 21:54

13Dpo so due AF tomorrow!
I just googled clinics at the time, the reviews were good. It's called Mums but not sure if it's a chain? I still kept my nhs ones though, they scanned me about 4 times. Not sure why as they knew from the first it wasn't ectopic but guess it's protocol for problem pregnany as my notes said Hmm

Try not to worry about twinges and pain- I know it's hard but we've probably had them all along and never noticed them until now!

Springandsummer123 · 31/03/2020 07:33

@Sammyclaire22 ahh 13 DPO - have you done anymore tests? Do you think you're in with a chance this month?
I don't feel anything yet however I am having very vivid and weird dreams which I always have when preg. Probably just my over active mind with everything that's going on in the world!
@Mumlili9 - are you symptom spotting too? When will you test? X

Sammyclaire22 · 31/03/2020 08:53

@Springandsummer123 not done a test today, my bbt dropped again below coverline now so I'm assuming AF is imminent. On to a 2021 baby!
Good luck to you all for this month xx

Mumlili9 · 01/04/2020 12:56

@Springandsummer123 I will test at 10dpo. I'm kind of hoping to be in with a chance. I'm thinking not though as I definitely ovulated on the bad side but Fx for that myth about being super fertile after a loss for 3 cycles. I know realistically it's going to take a while given my age and I'm a recurrent miscarried too. I just think the universe could cut me a break now I've been through hell and I'm still standing.
Good luck to you too

Ivybutterfly · 01/04/2020 13:57

The universe should cut you a break. Sending you lots of positivity and love. Xxx

Mumlili9 · 01/04/2020 15:15

@Ivybutterfly and you hun. Fx this is your cycle.

How lovely would it be that we all come out of isolation pregnant with healthy babies. That's the dream ladies, that's the dream

OP posts:
Ivybutterfly · 01/04/2020 16:55

It really is. Xxx

Springandsummer123 · 01/04/2020 18:13

Fingers crossed for everyone! Yes I'd love to appear out of isolation in September or something about 20w preg and shock everyone!
I'm really funny about telling people about being preg as I'm so scared about losses. With my first I kept it secret for 18w, so would love to do a long period again without telling everyone, especially after the eptopic.
I've ordered some cheapy tests so I can start testing next week - don't want to waste the expensive ones!
I didn't know that about being extra fertile @Mumlili9 - that's good news! Hope everyone's doing ok in this crazy time. I'm enjoying some wine whilst I still (hopefully) can!

Mumlili9 · 01/04/2020 19:25

Now I'm in the tww (even though it's very very highly unlikely) I'm a bit scared incase I do get pregnant and it goes very wrong again. When will my brain give me a break

OP posts:
Sammyclaire22 · 02/04/2020 17:45

Well AF arrived right on cue so I'm still here! Must really learn to ignore symptoms and just go off my bbt.

I totally believe in being extra fertile after a loss, I'm convinced it's what happened to me with my dd so really hope you guys all get lucky this month. I think it's probably why I was a bit over hormonal and more aware of my body this time round as part of me hoped I'd be fortunate again

Mumlili9 · 02/04/2020 18:49

OK so back from the hospital. I was told that they didn't take my whole tube just the portion that the baby grew in. Has this happened to any of you. I was told that the tube would be taken I'm confused. Also totally gutted they perforated through my uterus twice during the surgery so it will likely cause scar tissue. And to top it off I got a really low temp drop today so FF says I didn't ovulate after all. I'm so low today

OP posts:
Mumlili9 · 02/04/2020 18:54

@Sammyclaire22 oh hun I'm sorry AF got you I was hopeful that the spotting would be implantation bleeding. As a fellow bbt-er have you ever had FF say yes you ovulated and then got a huge temp drop and had FF change it mind

OP posts:
Sammyclaire22 · 02/04/2020 20:49

That sounds very confusing @mumlili9 did they explain more about what they did and why they perfed you? You can always ask more questions, don't feel that you've had your one opportunity. It's really normal to come up with more questions afterwards.
Having said that i'm assuming they took my whole tube but they never really said!

Yep sometimes my temps go a bit haywire- can be lots of reasons. Main thing is to look at the overall picture. Do you take orally or vaginally (if that's not too personal!)

Mumlili9 · 02/04/2020 21:15

@Sammyclaire22 I do my temp orally. I don't think my temps are ever great really. My sleep is bad right now as well. I keep having night mares about the ectopic all the time

OP posts:
Sammyclaire22 · 03/04/2020 00:03

@mumlili9 it might be worth swapping your method over to vag? I found it made a pretty big difference to how consistent my temps were. Bbt is so easily affected! If you are sleeping lightly that won't help, but for the next few months just take it to get your pattern established again rather than use it to deeply analyse. Most of the time you can only really see your overall curve once you've finished the cycle so today might have been a one off anyway.

It's totally normal to still have playbacks of what happened, I know I did for months and still get phases of it. We all went through something that could have killed us as well as dealing with a loss. Thats a whole heap of confusing emotions to sort through. Would it help to write them down? Sometimes writing fears or a bad dream on paper helps them feel less vivid? I also found a spot of yoga before bed really helped relax me- there is a great app called down dog which is free atm. Ive been meaning to take it up again for months and finally set it up!
And we are all here to moan or stress to- we all get it x

Springandsummer123 · 03/04/2020 09:05

Sorry @Mumlili9 I didn't realise you were off to hosp. What a shock about your tube - very odd they didn't tell you that originally. I thought it was standard to take the whole tube! I suppose that could mean you could ovulate down either??? Hopefully the scarring won't cause any problems for you.
Sorry to hear about your AF @Sammyclaire22 - I'm expecting to be in that boat next week! I've mixed emotions at the moment. I've heard that hospital care is so stripped back right now I think I'd be pretty terrified incase it happened again with a lack of experts available.
