TTC after ectopic pregnancy

Hello I'm hoping to chat with other ladies ttc after ectopic pregnancy with tubal removal. I recently had an ectopic pregnancy and lost my left tube. I don't know anyone who has been through this so I've no one to talk to about this. I would love this tread to become a kind of support group where we can support each other on the scary journey of ttc.

@Sammyclaire22 thank you for the advice hun it's really helpful. As to the dreams I glad to know I'm not alone, was starting to think I was a snowflake, but now I know it's normal that feels better. I found when I was doing my caster oil pack before bed my dreams were less scary but now I'm in the tww (yes FF decided that yes I did ovulate this morning, wish it would make its mind up) I can't do them. I might give yoga a go instead.
How are you getting on now?

Not a snowflake at all! An ectopic is emergency surgery, not a routine planned knee op (which I still freaked out about as I hate stuff like that lol) and it's also a baby loss- both on their own are hard to deal with and together is a pretty major life event. Then having to deal with all the emotions as well as recovering from the surgery isn't easy at all. It's ok for it to feel hard and to give yourself time and kindness. Best approach so that you really do recover properly.

I'm ok, AF is finishing now so onwards to the next fw in about a week I think? I've started doing joe wicks PE today so I can get a bit fitter too and plan on upping my water intake!

When are you planning on testing @springsummer123?

How are you ladies getting on? How are you staying sane during the lock down? I'm doing a lot of gardening and crochet.

I'm due AF today but I ovulated 2 days later than my charts suggests so expecting AF to come two days later. I don't feel pg like I have done before, only thing I've had is weird dreams but there's a lot going on right now so I'm putting it down to that!
Only got one expensive digi test in the house and don't want to waste it! So will just wait for AF, got some cheapies on the way so I'll do one if they arrive but I'm pretty sure it's not the month. (Only dtd twice too, all this COVID stuff is making think it would be a good thing if it didn't happen straight away!)
How are you feeling? Do you definitely think you had C19?
I've got my DC to look after so that's keeping me busy in lockdown, my DH is WFH so he's busy all day and it's down to me to provide 'activities' - it's pretty tiring!

@Mumlili9 no I just waited for AF to start! Weird sense of relief if I'm honest. Glad to have had the first complete normal cycle - 29 days. So hopefully can track fertile days effectively and make a bit more effort with dtd this month. How are you?

Hi all. I had an ectopic at end of Nov last year and was treated with methotrexate. They advised waiting 4 months before trying again. We started to try again this month. I’m fairly sure I’m 7dpo as I used opks. Pretty much ever since I’ve had a dull ache in the ovary area. It seems to be mostly on the left side but occasionally right. Has anyone ever had this?

Sammyclaire22 · 10/04/2020 12:23

Sorry to hear about AF @Springandsummer123 but I get what you mean about a normal cycle- i found it felt a bit like your body is 'back' after everything being haywire.

Think I'm ovulating the next day or so, had an almost peak last night. Hoping we've timed bd right!

Welcome @clairee84 and sorry to hear about yours. It's normal to feel like you've got lots of twinges and aches. Some of it is probably being so much more focussed on your body. This time round ttc the first few months I noticed them loads but I don't seem to as much now! It's ok to feel a bit paranoid though.

Have the dreams improved @mumlili9?

@Springandsummer123 loving the positive attitude. I'm 11 dpo tested today bfn bummed tbh.
@im still having the dreams I'm starting to wonder if it's a bit ptsd
@Clairee84 hello and welcome. I have the pains but only on my tubeless side. Some days they are awful and others very mild but always there. In only on my first natural cycle since my op though.

Hi all, I had the faintest BFp yesterday at 12dpo. It was such a squinter. Now nervous that it could be the sign of another ectopic?? I don’t want more methotrexate and another 4 month wait! Last time my levels were so low that I stayed on 1-2 weeks on the digital (that was how I knew something wasn’t right). Hoping and praying this isn’t going the same and would actually prefer AF to arrive now after wanting a positive so much the last two weeks.

Did anyone else have a really faint line? X

Ivybutterfly · 16/04/2020 13:00

Hi Claire,

I had a really faint line too. It might not mean anything. Do you have more tests? All of mine were faint and I had no nausea. That was how I knew something was not right. Sending love and positive thoughts. Xxx

Thanks @Ivybutterfly. I have two more tests left. I’ve not tested today, I think I’ll wait until tomorrow morning to test now and I just hope it’s negative. I track my resting heart rate on Fitbit and it hasn’t risen at all (infact it actually decreased slightly). In my successful pregnancy it really increased.

It's odd isn't it as you so want to be pregnant again but then when you might be it's so terrifying. Do you mind me asking how come you were treated with methotrexate rather than tube removal?

@Springandsummer123 I think it was because I wasn’t having any pain. They never actually located where the egg had implanted and couldn’t find it on scan. They had me in every other day for a week to monitor blood pressure/ hcg levels and they were rising but nowhere near at the rate they should have (it was around 3000 when I had the injection). They decided that it was the best option, I was never offered tube removal. They also told me and I could just wait it out and continue going in for checks but we decided it was safer to get the methotrexate.

I think if it was to have happened again they could possibly look into tube removal As it would indicate a problem in one of my tubes I would think. Although at this time I’m not sure they would have time for that?!

Springandsummer123 · 16/04/2020 15:45

Ahh I see @Clairee84 thanks for sharing. Maybe you were very early on that's why it didn't show on scans?
At least you still have both tubes so are in with a really good shot this month! I think most of us on here have had tube removal so we're hoping our bodies figure out getting the egg down the remaining tube even if it comes from the other ovary. Fingers crossed your tests get stronger from here on in. Keep us updated! X

I'm doing ok now ta! Currently either 6 or 8dpo (messed one bbt reading up) so starting to head towards the willpower battle of not poas too early! My frer don't arrive until Monday so that should help!

@clairee84 don't worry too much about faint lines- your still really early on if you are pregnant so it's totally normal. You might only be a day or two past implantation!
I think (from what I googled at the time) they only give methotrexate if they can't see a heart beat. It's possible it wasn't even in your tube, sometimes they attach in the abdominal cavity somewhere. The drug is supposed to stop fast growing cells (some of my patients are given it) so if they cant find it it should end the pregnancy. I dont think its quite as high risk as a tubal ectopy as the tube is unlikely to rupture which is why they can offer watch and wait but its good that you didn't need surgery. Either way its still a rubbish thing to go through and all of us here understand the fear but longing of another pregnancy. But I'm proof a normal pregnancy is possible even straight after, so fc it's a happy ending for you!

@Sammyclaire22 Thank you. I tested this morning and it was negative. I felt relieved to be honest, I’d been getting myself worked up and obsessing over symptoms etc for two weeks! I’m going to try and relax next month. I think I was just so desperate for it to happen in the first month that we were allowed to try again! Good luck to you x

I felt the same sense of relief when I was negative last month @Clairee84 - very odd mixture of feelings isn't it?
Everything that's going on makes it worse too as the thought of going to a hospital for an early scan is scary too! X
