Hi to anyone reading 👋🏻

This is a thread for anyone TTC / testing in February, after a miscarriage.

I’ll start off with intros! I’m 37 and my first pregnancy ended in miscarriage at 5 1/2 weeks in December. I TTC straight afterwards, but AF found me, so here I still am on this crazy, frustrating, rollercoaster of a journey!

I joined the January thread after my miscarriage and it’s been amazing to go there and chat to other women who know how you feel.

So for anyone joining this, I’m so so sorry you find yourself here, but you’re in good company ❤️

Thank you @Leok83 honestly people on MN teach me so much Grin one more personal question if that’s ok- do you DTD every day once you start getting the smileys or do you wait for a peak?
I’m tempted to give them a try but DH prefers to be a bit more spontaneous! Like you say I’d just like to know if I do ovulate according to the trackers or not, and also my first cycle was shorter after mc so keen not to miss the key days!

Leok83 · 12/02/2020 17:39

@Happythecrocodile I tried every day first time I used them but after getting 7 days of flashing we were a bit over it by the time got the solid smiley😄
So now just settle for every other day for flashing and the day of solid smiley. That’s a lot better and more relaxed as between us were def not a daily DTD couple and def felt too much pressure trying every day!

Michette · 12/02/2020 19:15

@ChampooPapi wave back :)
Good to hear you are feeling better and calmer. ❤️
And yes sometimes staying away from the mumsnet craze is good for our mental health.
I also have much less MN time and I find that i don’t find it as hard to not have a BFP anymore.
I am not symptom spotting so far (ok only 4 dpo but still) and I feel so chilled out like you I guess i am over the MC, feeling free...
I guess the myth of more fertile after MC made me completely crazy with super high hopes and i felt so shit after the BFN last month.
I am not even doing opk after positive at CD18. I trust nature now! Done my part!

@mlax that looks good!! I mean fertility wise. Damn. Never seen anything even close to this in my CM since ttc.
Really good sign I’d say!

Anny27 · 13/02/2020 13:20

Thrush is slowly going thankfully! And havent ovulated yet (cd20!!!) But that's kinda a blessing because by time thrush is gone, will still have time to DTD before ovulation 🤞 although not as much as normal.

@mlax yeah I would say those photos are EWCM. Depends on how it feels vs how it looks though! Ewcm stretches more than an inch in your fingers without breaking. I have EWCM about 4 days ish before ovulation sometimes more.

@Michette ooh 4dpo thata good! Stay sane with the symptom spotting haha!

Anny27 · 13/02/2020 13:22

@ChampooPapi definitley I dont think there is a boost in fertility post mc! After the erpc thinking it is taking a while for my hormones to settle. I would LOVE a bfp asap but feeling more calm now.

Anny27 · 13/02/2020 13:23

Hope my other OG girls are getting on well @MilsCookie @AlviesMam @StephyRose 🤞🤞🤞

Anny27 · 13/02/2020 13:29

@Annie0425 have you ovulated yet? Mines delayed this month! Not sure why, unusually have pretty regular cycles but have the odd shorter or longer one every once in a while!

Annie0425 · 13/02/2020 13:49

@Anny27 I was just about to drop a message. This is from today afternoon, so will be ovulating very soon. Are you doing opk? May be you missed the surge? Or just having a long cycle... it’s really frustrating isn’t it not knowing how our bodies will behave every month! I never ever thought TTC will be so complicated
We have kind of decided not to ttc this month as we have a holiday and few long haul flights coming up next month and I want to enjoy it and not be stressed in case I get pg. But seeing the positive opk I don’t feel like letting go of this month..so confused!! 🤷‍♀️ Good luck! Hopefully you’ll catch the surge soon x

Cometa08 · 13/02/2020 13:50

My first pregnancy ended in miscarriage as well at 8 weeks in December after almost 1 year of trying. It was what they call a missed miscarriage, the embryo stopped growing at 5 weeks but I only started to miscarriage at 8.
After a very long cycle I tried to conceive again but nothing. Now, second cycle after the miscarriage, I'm waiting to see if I might be pregnant again.

Semele5069 · 13/02/2020 14:04

Hi all, just found this chat from the pregnancy forum. I've just started my first period following MC at 7 weeks a month ago. I was really hoping I'd get pregnant again straight away so a bit disappointed! I have a Clearblue fertility monitor arriving today though which is making me feel more in control of the process.

Sorry there are so many others in the same situation but it is really helpful as I don't know anyone in real life who's had difficulty having a baby (probably loads have but just don't talk about it).

I'm 35, that was my first pregnancy and I'm worried I've left it too late even though I know the stats and actually got pregnant fairly quickly after years on the pill!

Hannah234 · 13/02/2020 14:44

@Cometa08 I'm also TTC after a MMC (found out at the 12 week scan the baby had stopped growing a week before), and waiting to see about this month... When is/was your af due? FXed for you... I'm finding it really hard to trust my body or my feelings about what's going on with it after not realising about the MC last time. Anyone else feel like that?

Cometa08 · 13/02/2020 16:39

@Hannah234 I'm truly sorry for your loss.

My miscarriage was not completely unexpected as I started spotting the day of my expected period and then the spotting became some light red bleeding. I went to the hospital, at the early pregnancy unit, and the blood tests came out alright so I kept on hoping. Then an 8 weeks scan revealed that it stopped growing; the day after the bleeding started.

I understand what you mean when you say that you feel like you can't trust your body. It's like the battle never ends and you can't feel safe at any stage of the pregnancy.

My af is due in 2 days time but I have already noticed a decrease in my bbt this morning so I'm not very positive.

Hannah234 · 13/02/2020 16:52

@Cometa08 I'm sorry for you too - that sounds like it just have been very confusing. I'm currently in a battle between what I think my body is saying and what the tests are saying... Feel very pregnant and 6 days late but BFN 2 days ago... Taking another tomorrow morning so we'll see whether valentine's day starts with a high or a low!! Anyone else going to test tomorrow?

Cometa08 · 13/02/2020 17:04

@Hannah234 Do you know exactly when you ovulated? I have read that it is more precise to consider the luteal phase lenght as it is subject to less variation. Also taking your bbt in the morning can help see where you stand.

Good luck for tomorrow!

Happythecrocodile · 13/02/2020 18:11

@Leok83 thank you so much for sharing, it’s been so helpful Smile I mentioned OPKs to DH yesterday but he’s not too keen- he thinks it will add pressure and likes to try and keep a bit of spontaneity rather than being on a timetable (as much as you can be when TTC!). So I think we will leave them for this month and maybe try them next month (but 🤞we won’t need them next month).

Kona84 · 13/02/2020 19:18

So i finally got a negative pregnancy test on the 10th Feb - 20 days after my miscarriage started.
I have started testing for ovulation now but they have all been very negative.
Prior to my pregnancy I ovulate approximately day 20 of a 33/34 day cycle. My ovia app, based on the first day of miscarriage bleeding indicates i'm on day 23 of my cycle.

Is it accurate to use the first day of bleeding as a period in the tracking apps? or should i use the day my HCG levels dropped back to normal?
Me and my partner are keen to try again and I have read that its possible to be more fertile the first month after a miscarriage.

MilsCookie · 13/02/2020 19:29

Hey @Anny27! Good to hear from you... This month I have stayed away from MN (like a few others I have read... @ChampooPapi waves) and it has done me the world of good. I love chatting to all you lovely ladies but MN in general was just making me feel more anxious.

I am currently on CD16 (cycle 2 since mc) and using OPKs this month for the first time (even though I told myself I wouldn't until we'd been ttc for at least 3 months!) and I think I just got my first positive. I am using the femometer app and it gave me a 'high' LH reading of 95, so I'll do another one before bed and try to dtd tonight and tomorrow! I almost feel more nervous now that I know ovulation is imminent! I don't have any EWCM though (just feel wetter down there) so hope that's not going to be a problem.

Hope all of you are doing well!! xxx Smile Star

TerribleImagination · 13/02/2020 20:39

AF arrived today. Absolutely gutted. Starting to think the whole ‘you’re more fertile after a miscarriage’ thing is utter rubbish 😢

OP posts:
Semele5069 · 13/02/2020 20:43

@TerribleImagination I'm sorry to hear that! I was the same when mine arrived yesterday. I was really so hopeful I would have got pregnant straight away again.xxx

Michette · 13/02/2020 22:01

@TerribleImagination sorry to hear!
And yes it is utter rubbish!

Hope you are ok x

Hannah234 · 14/02/2020 06:28

Happy Valentine's day everyone! BFN this morning and then wiped this... (TMI photo attached.) It surprised me because I've never seen this colour before - AF normally much redder. Only on wipe - not much of it. Kind of hoping it might be implantation bleeding, but didn't have any last time (MMC). Anyone recognise the colour? I'm CD 35 today, but didn't track ovulation.

TerribleImagination · 14/02/2020 08:11

Thanks @Semele5069 and @Michette. I’m ok, just gutted 💔

@Hannah234 Both of my periods since my miscarriage have started that colour now, which I’ve never had before. I think miscarriages do weird things to our cycles!

Anny27 · 14/02/2020 08:21

Sorry AF arrived @terribleimagination:( have a glass of fizz for valentines day xx

@Annie0425 ohh yeah DTD and if it happens then great, but if not you get to enjoy your holiday next month

@MilsCookie exciting!! Hope you catch this month :D useful to know when you ovulate so then you will know when AF is due

@Hannah234 that's normal colour for me sometimes, see how it progresses xx

MilsCookie · 14/02/2020 09:04

@TerribleImagination so sorry AF showed hun. It really is cruel that we're not catching straight away after mc!

@Anny27 ahh me too! Although I feel like I've got BV again - exactly like last month around ovulation?! What's that all about?! I'm so mad about it. Going to the GP this afternoon as want to dtd tonight but need to check if I can 🙈. Fingers crossed for you too my lovely! Will keep checking in to see how we're all getting on 😘 Xxx

Cometa08 · 14/02/2020 09:26

Just a question for everybody:

After you got your miscarriage did you do any tests to check if there is any health issue?
We qualify for the full range of tests only after the 3rd miscarriage but my GP checked a few values anyway.

The most important value seems to be the thyroid that should be below 2.5, also the vitamin D.
