TTC after miscarriage - February 2020

Hi to anyone reading 👋🏻

This is a thread for anyone TTC / testing in February, after a miscarriage.

I’ll start off with intros! I’m 37 and my first pregnancy ended in miscarriage at 5 1/2 weeks in December. I TTC straight afterwards, but AF found me, so here I still am on this crazy, frustrating, rollercoaster of a journey!

I joined the January thread after my miscarriage and it’s been amazing to go there and chat to other women who know how you feel.

So for anyone joining this, I’m so so sorry you find yourself here, but you’re in good company ❤️

@Leok83 the epu told me it was fine to TTC straight after a negative pregnancy test, the only reason they suggest waiting until after at least 1 period is purely for dating purposes, so get busy!

kkr168 · 10/02/2020 09:27

@seaduck that is such a clear positive, how many dpo are you?

seaduck · 10/02/2020 09:36

@kkr168 I've no idea! Blush I didn't use opks and I didn't have any noticeable symptoms of ov. All I know is I'm 29 days since the gestational sac passed, and 32 since bleeding started. My cycle is usually 28 days.

Timeforanamechangeagain1 · 10/02/2020 10:03

Well after feeling hopeful last week I don't think my period has started. I think it is bleeding after the d and c again as it is really red. I am so fed up with this. I have basically just bleeding in one way or another for five weeks now. It's really getting me down

Anny27 · 10/02/2020 10:28

Ahhh help - I haven't ovulated yet and I have thrush:(

The advice is not to have sex untill a week after the treatment. I am so gutted!

Hopefully I ovulate today or tomorrow because we DTD on saturday so might be a slight chance.

Feel gutted like this month is a right off now :(

Michette · 10/02/2020 10:39

Congrats @seaduck

@anny27
What happened??

On my part bot feeling great.
For the feeling i still have PID from MC infection
And 2dpo :(

shhhhs · 10/02/2020 11:03

@seaduck amazing news ❤️👶🎉 congratulations! Xx

Annie0425 · 10/02/2020 11:35

Hi Ladies, sorry haven’t been on MN for a few days. Haven’t caught up with all the messages yet...Hope you all are doing okay..
@seaduck that’s a clear positive! Did you get a BFN after your MC? At 29 days, It could be leftover hcg after the mc, but if you had a bfn, then clearly it meant your hcg went to 0. So, in that case this will be a new pregnancy...congrats!!
@Anny27 We are both on CD16 I think? I haven’t ovulated either, but I usually ovulate between cd19-21. May be you will ovulate late this time? Sorry about the thrush..hopefully you’ll ovulate soon and you might be able to catch it from your last dtd. Good luck!
@Michette...Sorry to hear that.. did you get it checked? It might not be infection and just post ovulation symptoms? Don’t know if that’s a thing 🤔
I too have a couple of long haul flights and holiday coming up in March/ April...so not sure if I want to be pg then...I don’t want to be stressed during my holiday but at the same time I don’t want to lose anymore time too...so in 2 minds about ttc’ing this month!
@Timeforanamechangeagain1 Sorry you are going through this...May be get it checked to rule out infection or retained products? It could still be the start of your period 🤞

Timeforanamechangeagain1 · 10/02/2020 11:49

Thank you @Annie0425. I'm pretty certain it's not retained products as I had a hysteroscopy done with the d&c and I have no signs of infection at all. I just need to hang on for a week as I have a follow up with the consultant next Tuesday (obviously if anything goes horribly wrong I'll go to epu/a and e) It just feels never ending. How can I ever try to get pregnant again if I can't even recover from this miscarriage?

Winkle2020 · 10/02/2020 12:27

@Timeforanamechangeagain1 I can understand what you are going through. I was in your situation last to last month, thinking how can I ever possibly imagine trying again let alone getting and staying pregnant if I still have retained products. But somehow days rolled over and I am in the trying phase now. So hang in there please. Get all the support you need

MummaShu · 10/02/2020 12:41

Hiya everyone - im so sorry for your losses. Looking for a bit of advice... had surgery to manage miscarriage about 2 & a half weeks ago (lost it at 9 weeks found out at 12 week scan). Stopped bleeding a week ago. I normally have a 33 day cycle, ovulate on day 22. Like clockwork. Yesterday though had what felt like ovulation pain and then tested and had positive opks on day 16. Is it possible to ovulate that quickly, and a different day to normal? Confused was actually going to wait a month but ...

Moominmiss · 10/02/2020 12:48

@MummaShu it’s certainly possible that you’ve ovulated earlier than usual. For lots of ladies their cycles are thrown totally out of whack and they can ovulate earlier or later than they usually would.

Also just worth noting that if you haven’t yet had a clear bfn following the mc, if you still have some hcg in your system then this can also give you a positive ovulation test.

I mc on 1st January and was getting positive ovulation and pregnancy tests up until last week. Blood work has only just shown hcg is back to pre pregnancy levels and af arrived almost straight away once my levels were normal.

X

Michette · 10/02/2020 13:00

@Annie0425 i thought it was leftover ovulation pain but i am not sure as it feels more like pain from infection but now will wait as the pain is only in the morning... really weird

I think it’s good to have these plans and holiday to look forward too.
It helps with the ttc anxiety!
Feels so much more relaxed now!

Supposedly in tww but doesn’t even feel like it :)

Also just met a friend who conceived first time and she only dtd on day before ovulation! Some people are lucky!!

seaduck · 10/02/2020 13:10

@Annie0425 yes, I got a negative test two weeks ago. I just took a first response and that was a faint positive too so starting to believe it now. Thanks for support everyone, hope you all don't have too much longer to wait Flowers

Sully84 · 10/02/2020 14:56

Congrats @seaduck , great news.

My period is due Wednesday/Thursday. Having full blown period pains today which has left me in tears and feeling very emotional.
Going forward I really need to work out how to switch off the obsessive symptom spotting/thinking and everything. I have two kids and never felt this affected by trying as I have since miscarrying.

Ejb86 · 10/02/2020 17:20

@seaduck Congratulations lovely!

clarewithoutani · 10/02/2020 18:29

Hi ladies, first time on here and like others can't believe how many of us experienced this in January.

I miscarried at 11 weeks back in mid-January and was heartbroken as it seemed to be twins. I'm 43 so time not on my side but OH and I have unofficially started trying again so let's see what happens. I had a scan at EPU ten days after miscarrying which showed all was well. I wasn't advised to take a pregnancy test to check HCG levels. Strange that we all received different information. Good luck. X

TerribleImagination · 10/02/2020 18:30

@Sully84 The 2WW after a miscarriage is so much worse isn’t it? I’ve found that yoga helps when I’m feeling stressy. You can even do two week wait yoga, just do a YouTube search. Also last week when I was feeling particularly tense, I went for an Indian head massage and that also helped! Another thing I do from time to time, when I find my mind obsessing over symptoms / feeling anxious, is to take a deep breath in and exhale sharply and quickly. It’s like letting all the negative and worrying thoughts out. It’s a big airy fairy I know, but it works for me so could be worth a try! ❤️

Thank you @TerribleImagination

SweetpeaOrMarigold · 10/02/2020 20:11

Congratulations @seaduck if you had a negative 2 weeks ago then you are pregnant! Flowers

SweetpeaOrMarigold · 10/02/2020 20:13

I'm confused by this opk stuff as the app says 10, 5, 0 since my period but I presume its just different urine concentrations? I know its too early for ov yet and they are all just different versions of faint.
My GP phoned today to tell me to come and get a thyroxine prescription, so maybe thats why we have struggled. OH is now questioning whether we should wait a month to get in into my system, but I just want to get pregnant asap x

LITTLEPICKLES88 · 11/02/2020 08:51

2 weeks until my midwife appointment, still don't feel pregnant, this time round after having a miscarriage is the scariest pregnancy ever, I just don't believe it, I'm even more obsessed with symptoms , testing my boobs every day ! I thought of and when I got a bfp I'd be so excited all my fears would disappear but I'm just as crazy as I was testing everyday and symptom spotting every day. I keep dreaming bad things happen, I have to then test again lines strong now and each week since I have find out I've done a digital this morning I was convinced I wasn't pregnant anymore - no bleeding - just lack of symptoms maybe due to extreme worrying! I'm trying not to honestly! Anyway I was very happy to see the 3plus! Hope you are all doing well xx

@LITTLEPICKLES88 i hope things settle a bit after you get a scan. Have you booked a private one for 8 weeks?

Full blown cold for me... been feeling weak since Friday and now really ill.
4dpo.... awesome.

Whiffle77 · 11/02/2020 10:16

Hi everyone,
Had a miscarriage at 8 weeks pregnant just over a week ago, not long after a scan showing all fine and with heartbeat.
I have finished bleeding but still have a faint positive on pregnancy test which I expected. In theory I will be ovulating around this weekend I think, can I still start ttc again even without the negative pregnancy test? Dr said I dont need to wait for a period. I would assume (if everything has passed, which I'm sure it has) the test would still go negative even if we conceived given you dont get a positive until AF time?
This was my first pregnancy and it took a really long time to get here, so I'm keen to get started again asap.
Sorry for everyone elses losses, but I found reading mumsnet a great comfort over the past week or so as I had no idea what to expect

Happythecrocodile · 11/02/2020 10:45

I think I’m out for this month as looks like AF is turning up today Sad A couple of days earlier than expected so must’ve had a shorter cycle following mc.

Ladies who use OPKs - which are the best kind and how expensive are they, and do they make you feel more or less stressed? I used some supermarket cheap ones for a couple of months when ttc my first as cycle was all over the place but I found it quite stressful and it didn’t work (we actually conceived on a month when I wasn’t using them). Before mc my cycle was quite regular so didn’t use them but now thinking about it...
