TTC after miscarriage - February 2020

Hi to anyone reading 👋🏻

This is a thread for anyone TTC / testing in February, after a miscarriage.

I’ll start off with intros! I’m 37 and my first pregnancy ended in miscarriage at 5 1/2 weeks in December. I TTC straight afterwards, but AF found me, so here I still am on this crazy, frustrating, rollercoaster of a journey!

I joined the January thread after my miscarriage and it’s been amazing to go there and chat to other women who know how you feel.

So for anyone joining this, I’m so so sorry you find yourself here, but you’re in good company ❤️

@Anny27 yes similar, I'm on CD14 today.

Can anyone advise...
I started with the Cb digital ovulation tests this cycle, currently on day 6 of flashing smiley. Is this normal? I did start the tests a day or 2 later than I should have I think! X

toomanyleggings · 05/02/2020 08:12

@BS9790 I think maybe you started testing too early. How long are your cycles? I have tested early this cycle in case I ovulated early and got a flashing smiley on cd6 but I can see me getting a good few days of them now. The flashing smiley indicates your oestrogen surging not the LG surge so keep testing and hopefully you'll get it in the next few days

BS9790 · 05/02/2020 08:46

@toomanyleggings, before MC they were 31-33 days, last cycle after MC was 24 days. So tbh I have no idea what this cycle will be. Started testing based on a 26 day cycle... Went for somewhere in the middle lol

Salamander91 · 05/02/2020 11:27

I think (may be wrong) that the first month you use clearblue digital ovulation tests you can get flashy smiles for quite a while. It's the test getting used to what are normal levels for you. If you keep using the same monitor every month you should get less flashy smiles as it knows what is normal for you.

Salamander91 · 05/02/2020 11:29

I don't think I'm going to be trying this month after all. I got an infection after my erpc so I think I'll wait until after my first AF. I dont want to risk getting another infection. Keeping my fingers crossed for all of you and hopefully I wont see any of you ttc next month 😊 xx

Hey everyone,

I was on the TTC- miscarriage Jan thread but I wanted to share with you this.

I just wanted to let you know I got my BFP this week Smile but I wanted to tell you what I did differently this month. I don’t know if it’s a coincidence or if it worked but I hope it gives people some hope that these things can work.

  • This month I have actually been more stressed then I have ever before for lots of reasons that weren’t conceiving related so... don’t worry about being stressed!
  • I did 2 sessions of acupuncture ( 1 time a week before when I think i was ovulating and 1 time just after)
-i drank lots or grapefruit juice (a glass a day) a week coming up to ovulation. I noticed I had more CM then usual.
  • I DTD ever other day from the day after my period and then everyday on the day before and after i ovulated
  • I used OPK (clearblue digital) but i didn’t follow it completely. I think i either ovulated twice or ovulated late. I followed my CM when it was wet and clear I made sure I DTD.
-I ate a lot of salmon and lots of dark leafy greens -I had all of bone broth soup -I made some red date tea

Do some research, it might not work for everyone and also it’s not over until the baby is past the safe period! But I know how you’re all feeling and Some may have called me obsessive but I wanted to make sure I gave myself the best chance. Anyway good luck everyone!

LITTLEPICKLES88 · 05/02/2020 12:55

@moominmiss any updates? Hope your doing well.

So it's been 2 years since my miscarriage and BFN after BFN now I got my positive last week I've been nothing but a nervous wreck! Testing even more like an absolute crazy lady! Did another clear blue digital today because I'm so paranoid my boobs don't feel sore anymore, was worried it would still say 1-2 but it says 2-3 one step closer! How is everyone doing? Xx

@pancakes26 congratulations on your BFP, great news 😁

Moominmiss · 05/02/2020 13:25

Hey @LITTLEPICKLES88, I’m so so pleased you got the 2-3!!! That’s amazing. You must feel slight relief now.

I’m doing ok, still in somewhat of a limbo tbh lol.
I had bloods drawn at the doctors yesterday after speaking with my gp.
I had a call back from a doctor today saying that my results were 22, so to me that’s extremely low for a new pregnancy, so I’m definitely more inclined to think it’s leftover from the miscarriage. I go back on Friday fir a repeat blood draw so will have answers then. Well Monday I suppose as I doubt I’ll hear anything over the weekend 🙄
She did say she was going to phone the EPU and speak to then to see if they wanted to see me to check for retained products or anything and then get back to me. But I haven’t heard back from her as of yet.
She asked me the whole timeline of the entire pregnancy and miscarriage from start to finish as she wanted a clear idea of what happened and when with regards to scans and what they showed, what my bleeding was like, how I’ve been since the miscarriage etc. She was very thorough.
I just want an answer now though, and to know if I need to do anything in order to get my levels back to zero or if I just need to carry on waiting a bit longer. I don’t know how quickly they should be dropping but either way unless they’re 44 or higher after the next blood test I’ll have my answer! X

LITTLEPICKLES88 · 05/02/2020 14:09

Hey @moominmiss ah how frustrating! Well I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for you, this bit is horrible being stuck in limbo isn't it, I can remember that clearly and sometimes feeling relieved when my AF finally shown up as at least then I knew what was going on , I'm really hoping there's good news up the road for you though xxx

Moominmiss · 05/02/2020 14:39

@LITTLEPICKLES88 exactly, and tbh right now I think I’d be most relieved to get af. If the blood test was to confirm a new pregnancy, will levels so low I’d only worry non stop that it was heading to another miscarriage anyway! So in all honesty right now I’d just like confirmation on Friday that the hcg is dropping, then hopefully how quickly (or slowly) it’s dropping will be an indication of how much longer it might take to get to zero, then I can start to roughly know when to expect af, and then finally begin my first proper cycle since the mc.
I will keep you updated though.
So so happy for you though!!! Keeping everything crossed for you for a nice smooth sailing next 9 months!!! X

AlviesMam · 05/02/2020 21:24

Hi ladies.
Just a little thank you to you all. This journey is hard and I don't think I'd have gotten through each day if I didn't have the support from these groups. X

Hi everyone, it's been a few weeks since I posted. Have not been checking this thread manically everyday and it has done me the world of good. It's not you guys, I just found it heightened my obsession with TTC.

I'm DC18/4DPO and we only managed to BD twice this month. 🙈 My obsession affected DPs performance last month so I didn't want to put too much pressure on it. I know its early on but I dont think I'm pregnant. I've usually had a tingly nipple by now (Haha a lonesome tingly nipple!) and can usually tell. But this month isn't it.

It is probably a good thing as after a MMC and then a CP on the second cycle of TTC, maybe my body just isn't ready yet. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I'd love to be pregnant by Summer. 🤞🌈👶🏼

Congratulations to all the BFPs on here, you are giving us all hope!! 💗

@AlviesMam ❤❤

Michette · 06/02/2020 10:48

EssJayyCee · 06/02/2020 21:53

Hi everyone.

I am 27 ttc#1 I had a miscarriage in January.
I was just wondering when you ovulated after your miscarriage? I am on CD21 and still no luck as far as I know.

I track BBT but my temps are all over the place and I've just started opks this week (they took ages in the post) and they have all been negative.

I need some hopeful thoughts.

I have irregular cycles and I don't ovulate every month so it's been a really hard journey of now 19months ttc.

Leok83 · 06/02/2020 23:16

@EssJayyCee so sorry for your loss. I had ERPC 8th Jan (also TTC #1) so now on CD30 and still haven’t ovulated, I BBT and couple days ago I had some wine which pushed up temp artificially so looked like I had but wasn’t the case, came down again the next morning I wasn’t drinking. Had bloods 2 days ago (4weeks after ERPC) and HCG at 37 now (has been 200 10 days before), it seems never ending😢. I was worried this cycle would be anovulatory but now I just don’t care if I get af without ovulation as long as I get back to some form of normality!! I’ve ultrasound booked to check on fibroid next Tuesday so guessing if I have any retained products they will see at same time. Fingers crossed it’s not as drawn out for you as it is for me. I’m 36 so guessing age isn’t on my side either here.

Leok83 · 06/02/2020 23:19

@Michette yay for ovulation!!😃

shhhhs · 07/02/2020 06:10

Well my tww is over with the arrival of AF 😑 another month of waiting awaits, the joy.

Timeforanamechangeagain1 · 07/02/2020 08:50

Well I won't be testing this month as I think my period has started. I thought I might have ovulated when still bleeding after the d&c (so no opportunity to try). It was really difficult to work out when my body might get back on track a bit because the d&c was 10 days after medical management (which didn't work) so I've no idea when my body thinks I miscarried. I had about ten days of bleeding and then ten days of spotting. I really hope it's my period and I'm not still just randomly bleeding

Nuggetlover27 · 07/02/2020 09:39

Hi all, I'm a bit late to this thread but recognise some of your names from elsewhere, I'm in the same boat, MC in November with my first pregnancy, didn't get my 1st period after that until end of December, TTC in January and was convinced it had succeeded (especially being 5 weeks and no period) but someone had other plans because I came on on Monday. Hoping Feb is the month I'm finally able to conceive! 🤞🏻

Anny27 · 07/02/2020 09:43

Welcome @Nuggetlover27 we were on the first pregnancy first miscarriage thread xxx absolute same with being convinced last month. I was devastated when AF arrived!

Cd12 today and no sign of ovulation. Like @michette I think miscarriage has made my cycles lighter longer......yayyy!

@timeforanamechangeagain1 it's such a confusing time :(
