Our other thread is getting quite long and I know they stop at 1,000 comments so thought I’d make a new one for us .
I am so sorry if I’ve missed anyone , just going by usernames I remember off the top of my head !
I’m currently 5 weeks pregnant (miscalculated and thought I was only 4+3). Going for an 8 week scan (I’ll be almost 9 weeks) on 25th Jan.
but I am really enjoying joining you on your journeys on TTC and you’ve all been amazing so I didn’t want to just say goodbye to the thread .
Please come on in if you’re new here , and join everyone on their journeys . I feel like we’ve been chatting forever but it’s only been a couple of months. What a roller coaster it’s been!

Anyway, as we were!

@MGee123 that’s good that nothing major wrong but that you found out about the iron. DH and I agreed yesterday to get private tests if it takes us more than 6 months - this month will be month 5/cycle 6. It goes to show that even if you feel fine there might be something a bit low that you can supplement.

@camha welcome back - where did you go on holiday? What cycle are you on now?

DH and I had a cute conversation last night where he said “I really hope you’re pregnant this month”. It means a lot as at the beginning of TTC he was quite nervous and freaked out by the whole grown-upness of it all so one advantage of it taking so long is that now he’s super onboard.

camha · 25/02/2020 10:17

@notalwaysalondoner thank you! I went to Canada. We're on month 2 cycle 3, so not very long. I'm getting impatient though!!

Lovely to hear about your DH, mine is also getting more excited and involved which is so lovely. Last night he held my legs up (lol) which he hasn't done before, it's the little things isn't it!

CurbsideProphet · 25/02/2020 18:26

Hi @camha 👋🏻 it's good to hear from you 🙂

@notalwaysalondoner I wouldn't know where to start with private tests. My DH doesn't want us to get bogged down in ttc, but I will be 35 at the end of year and he's a bit older, so it's difficult not to feel a sense of urgency.

xoJellyBean · 25/02/2020 22:32

Do anyone of you get so emotional over this? There's a girl in my work, she's single and she has just accidentally got pregnant for the second time after a one night stand, she has another young son. She's laughing and joking so much about it and I just want to cry!

Maddy0405 · 26/02/2020 09:01

Sorry it's another long one coming up girls!! x

@xojellybean It's really tough when there are people around you who just seem to get pregnant at the drop of a hat/without even trying. I was talking to someone the other week (one of MILs friends actually) and she was saying that she never really had to try to have either of her boys. I don't think people think before they say things and I dont think that people mean to upset us (particularly if they have no idea we are struggling to get pregnant). It's really tricky as it's not something we all go round shouting about. Have you got close friends you can speak to about it or your DH??

I second @MGee123 - it WILL be our time soon. Everything happens for a reason and our babies will be reality eventually. Good things are worth the wait even though it might be a long and winding road to get there.

@CurbsideProphet @notalwaysalondoner I had a google of private testing the other day but helpfully, the sites I was looking at don't have any prices on them - you have to call them which I don't want to do for fear of having heaps of unnecessary tests being over sold to me... I never want to point the finger at my husband (particularly after my scan results!!) but you do wonder if it's all us or if part of the problem could be their swimmers?! They would never know would they!!

Sending love to you all Flowers

camha · 26/02/2020 11:13

@xoJellyBean it really is though and so emotionally draining... People just don't think before they speak and don't even realise the effects of their words. Agree with @Maddy0405 talk to friends if you can and your DH as well. I also find this forum and threads so helpful. It's good to be able to vent to people who understand what you're going through.

@CurbsideProphet @notalwaysalondoner @Maddy0405 I've been looking at private tests too.. I tried to look at prices and it was £450 for a 'couple fertility MOT', that's at a central London clinic though, might be cheaper further out. I don't really want to spend that kind of money but I'm getting so impatient already. We're only on cycle 3 though so will try for a bit longer before considering it.

On another note, are you meant to count DPO from the day of or the day after ovulation? 🤔 so if I ovulated yesterday, am I 1DPO or 2DPO today?

What CD / DPO day is everyone on?

Love, baby dust and fingers crossed for us all 🤞🏼💕

notalwaysalondoner · 26/02/2020 13:12

I think you can order basic DIY sperm tests online these days!

I live in London and work less than five minutes from Harley street so I feel like I’m falling over fertility clinics! I listened to the Maybe Baby podcast (very funny although it’s based around a couple who are not sure if they want kids) and they had a Fit for Fertility test at Lister Hospital. I think lots other private hospitals/surgeries offer it and it’s about £600 for both of you (although now I’ve googled it again the prices don’t seem to be there any more). It’s a lot but having a family is my number one life priority so I’m happy to spend savings on it and lucky that we can afford to, plus right now we have a lot of money saved towards a house.

I’m 7dpo now, slightly sore boob on left side, no other symptoms. Not yet into ultra stress TWW but AF due on Saturday to Tuesday depending which app I believe!

Maddy0405 · 26/02/2020 13:33

@notalwaysalondoner yeah fair enough - if you have the money then go for it! We’ve just bought a house so our money is a bit tight but I might consider it a bit later in the year when we’ve replenished our savings a bit more. Maybe I’ll look at home testing sperm kits. Might see what my husband thinks.

I’m CD 15 no sign of ovulation (as usual)!

MGee123 · 26/02/2020 18:34

Evening all 👋 yes @xoJellyBean I get where you're coming from. I get these occasional pangs of sadness that it hasn't happened yet, particularly when someone else is discussing baby related stuff. It's a rough ride this TTC stuff. Sometimes the sadness feels pretty intense.

The private options all seem quite expensive, I had a quick look too. I just keep reminding myself that whilst it's frustrating, statistically it is perfectly normal for it to take up to a year to conceive. The people who do it first time are the anomalies - even if it doesn't seem like it! I get where you're coming from with the 'accidents' though - so annoying!! We're just going to wait it out. My GP said to go back to him if we're nearing the 12 month mark and he will send us for fertility tests, so that was reassuring to hear.

I'm CD 14 but don't think I've ovulated yet. Hoping I will get some signs soon 🤞 I have been reading that low iron can cause anovulation, so I'm wondering if that might be causing some of our problems. I've started my high dose supplements so hopefully my levels will be on the up soon!

@CurbsideProphet how are you doing?

xoJellyBean · 26/02/2020 20:23

@Maddy0405 she also told me she was on the pill as well... I just felt so upset but now it's not as bad! I told my DH but he thought I was crazy to be upset and that we will have our own when the time is right, he's so positive 😂 thanks girls (@camha & @MGee123)

Going to try and be on here more often, it really helps!
What stage of your cycles are you all? I am on day 11, we're loosely following the sperm meets egg plan. I have such long cycles so we're giving that a go!

hopefulhel · 26/02/2020 20:34

Hi ladies, tried the clear blue advanced opks this month. Had flashing smiley Friday, sat and sun so Dtd on sat and sun got static smiley on Monday so dtd on Monday and Tuesday. Currently 1dpo. 🤞

CurbsideProphet · 26/02/2020 21:40

@xoJellyBean I've been nodding along with your post! The rational part of my brain knows that it's normal to take 12 months to get pregnant. The rest of me is devastated it's not happened immediately and is frightened it might never happen. My DH also thinks it definitely will happen and we have to be patient.

@MGee123 I'm glad you're reassured after seeing your GP Smile I'm doing ok. I'm seeing my GP on Friday to see if she thinks I have had another chemical.

@camha I start counting days post ovulation the day after I think I've ovulated. Hopefully that makes sense. I'm at day 5 now. I usually ovulate around day 13 and have a 27 day cycle. Luckily I get noticeable changes in my CM.

CurbsideProphet · 26/02/2020 21:42

@hopefulhel 🤞🏻🤞🏻 this is your month.

camha · 26/02/2020 22:51

@CurbsideProphet that does make sense, thank you. That makes me 1DPO today. My cycles are normally 26-30 days, expecting af or hopefully BFP on 10th March.

@hopefulhel how have you found the clear blue opks? I think I'm gonna try them next cycle if I haven't got pregnant this time around..

notalwaysalondoner · 27/02/2020 11:52

@hopefulhel @camha I really like the clearblue ovulation tests as they are so unambiguous so you don’t have to squint or figure out if they’re positive. It certainly hasn’t made me obsessed with testing or anything, if anything it’s reassured me I’m probably ovulating. I have short regular cycles so I don’t use that many sticks per month so while expensive it’s not too bad. And this month I ovulated late so it helped us identify that and hopefully not miss it!

@xoJellyBean I had the same thing - a friend was telling me about her friend who is 4.5 months pregnant who went off the pill to lose weight and thought it would be at least 3 months before she was fertile again plus her partner thought he might have fertility issues due to taking lots of saunas (!!) so they didn’t use any protection and got pregnant within two months. Not only is the level of ignorance surprising (even though she’s a highly educated lawyer...) but so frustrating to hear this story when we’ve been trying five months proactively. But trying to keep positive and I definitely feel more laid back this month. 8dpo for me.

hopefulhel · 27/02/2020 13:36

@camha I've actually found them quiet good. I had used different ones and was never quiet sure as to whether the line was darker than the control line. This takes all the questioning out of it so found myself less obsessive this month. I used seven sticks this month before I got the static smiley so hoping to get another month or two out of the box I bought.

camha · 27/02/2020 15:53

@notalwaysalondoner @hopefulhel I'm definitely going to try them next cycle if not pregnant this time around. I can normally tell when I ovulate as I get cramps on one side and EWCM but I'd like to do the tests just to make sure anyway! Fingers crossed I don't have to though 🤞🏼

hopefulhel · 27/02/2020 21:35

Yeah I just found them good I was too uncertain with the control line on the other ones. I am a bit less stressed this month, work had been mental, was mid house renovation last month and the uncertainty with those opks did not help my stress levels. Hoping for a bfp soon am hoping to have one before summer.

camha · 28/02/2020 00:38

@hopefulhel Totally get that, I'd drive myself mad trying to decipher those lines... The smiley faces seem a much better solution!

I'm hoping for a bfp soon too, really really really hoping for this month. Just gotta stay positive and keep our fingers crossed 🤞🏼

CurbsideProphet · 28/02/2020 09:49

@hopefulhel I think that hoping for a bfp by the summer is realistic. I will try to follow that myself. It's difficult to want something other couples seem to manage so easily. My DH has had 2 friends with "surprise" pregnancies in the past 8 months!

CurbsideProphet · 28/02/2020 15:59

I've been back to my GP and she thinks it's likely I did have another chemical pregnancy, as the nausea lasted for 5 days and went off when I started bleeding. God it's pretty hard going this ttc malarkey.

I'm booked for full bloods in 2 weeks to check if anything is low or high, especially vit D and thyroid function. If I get nausea for the week before my next period she wants me to take a test and if it's positive she would class that as my 3rd and refer me on.

I'm lucky I have such a kind GP really. I feel a bit miserable, but at least she's taking it seriously and hasn't just sent me away.

MGee123 · 28/02/2020 19:06

I'm sorry to hear that @CurbsideProphet but am glad to hear you're having bloods done. Your GP does sound like they are keen to help you.

We're still leaving the OPKs but to be honest I'm fairly certain I'm not ovulating - low iron stores can cause that apparently so it would make sense. I've sort of written this month off and am hoping next month may bring some success! We're still DTD every other day but I'm on CD 16 with no hint of ovulation signs and I have short cycles (23/24 days). Just AF to look forward to next week!!

The clear blue ovulation sticks sound good, takes away the uncertainty of line interpretation 👍

hopefulhel · 28/02/2020 22:35

@CurbsideProphet so sorry to hear that. Hoping we all get our bfp soon

Maddy0405 · 29/02/2020 07:51

@CurbsideProphet sorry to hear that. Thinking of you. Your GP sounds lovely I’m glad you’ve got her supporting you.

I spoke to my friend who is a GP yesterday and she’s just made me feel totally shit about ttc. She said I’m ovulating because I’m having a period even if I don’t know when that happens. She basically said my GP won’t refer me until we’ve been trying for at least a year which I knew anyway and that’s fine and then she said ‘it can be totally normal to be trying for two years’ 😳 and then went in about how I’m young and there’s plenty of time and I’ve got plenty of other things going on and to look forward to. I know she was being kind but it’s just set me back a bit.

Getting tempted to buy clomid online....

hopefulhel · 29/02/2020 21:56

@Maddy0405 sorry to hear you didn't have a great response from your friend. Hope everyone is keeping well. The tww again 😂😂
