Hi guys

Not sure about anyone else but i have found that that i have tried posting on various threads and sometimes your own post gets really lost which can be slightly disheartening. I thought i would start this thread for anyone who has just started their TTC journey and together we can share our thoughts and experiences.... i do ask that (not to be mean) that this thread is only for people who have just started their TTC journey to avoid disappointment for people who are way into their journey and who may be experiencing different things. My own story is that i came of the pill in September and have yet to get my BFP. I got my first positive on Saturday just gone and now im 1dpo. Be great to hear from anyone in a similiar boat! Xx

Hi all! Sorry I've just jumped on and not read through all the comments but I've just started this month TTC with #1... Af is due Saturday I'm 9dpo today and of course tried a frer and it was a bfn Hmm no surprise as its still too early!! I had came off the pill in august and my last 3 periods seem to be normal so we thought we would give it a go!
I've been driving myself absolutely crazy thinking am I or aren't I pregnant!
I really hope 2020 will be our year ladies! Flowers

Sausage1990 · 30/12/2019 23:22

Hi @Echobear welcome.
I was the same testing 9pdo, the tww feels so long especially the 1st one I think. Try to hold off until af is due to reduce your risk of disappointment.
🤞🏻For you that this is your month. Xx

lunasunshine · 31/12/2019 08:20

Can I ask what you ladies are using to track your cycle (if you are?). I have the Ava bracelet which I’ve been using since August but not sure how accurate it is!

jenna30 · 31/12/2019 09:01

@Sammiantha2020 yes definitely! Especially during the TWW. I always think each cycle that i'm going to take a relaxed approach without using any methods but then i start stressing out. Stress is not great either as it can prevent ovulation but how can you not when there is such a short window in a month to get pregnant. If you find a way to relax please let me know 😛😂.

Hello everyone, can I join you all please? I am currently ttc #1 and am nearing the end of my tww (AF is due towards the end of the week). I'm desperately trying to hold off testing and just waiting to see if AF appears, I have had zero symptoms this month though and so I don't expect anything. I haven't been using OPK's but have been using three different apps, two of which put my ovulation date 1 day apart and the other puts it the week before with no overlap at all on the fertile window. I'm trying to keep as relaxed as possible and will just dtd every few days next month throughout Jan, however like others have said it is easier said than done!! Wishing everyone good luck!

Echobear · 31/12/2019 11:06

Thank you @Sausage1990 I am going to hold off now had a good word with myself last night lol
@lunasunshine at the moment I just use the tracking app Clue, which for ovulation I don't think is very accurate.. I need to see how I get on with that or I'll maybe try something else! What is the Ava bracelet? Going to Google that now lol

Sausage1990 · 01/01/2020 12:54

Happy New Year to you all!!!

Okay so tmi warning here... I need some advice.

So af has not arrived (due yesterday) so I did a test, well 2 tests, and I got a very faint 2nd line! However every time I wiped yesterday I had some very slightly brown cm, so I thought af must be imminent but so far she's not arrived.
I did another test this morning to double check I wasn't imagining the faint 2nd line and I got another faint 2nd line! But I've had brown discharge again today.

Yesterday I used a tesco one, and a frer. I didn't have any frer left so I did a tesco one again and a cheap one step test... Both with very faint positives.

I'm going to wait and see what happens over the next few days and if af doesn't show up I'll retest on Friday I think... Has anyone had any experience of having a faint BFP, then brown cm but still being pregnant??

Hope you all well and let's hope 2020 is the year for all our BFPs!!!! Xx

lunasunshine · 01/01/2020 13:25

@Echobear the Ava bracelet is something you wear at night and it measures your skin temperature and you can use it to track your cycle. It’s more convenient than measuring using a thermometer as you don’t have to wake up at a similar time everyday etc. but I’m really not sure how accurate it is and also it’s pretty pricey (around £300!) so I’m not sure that I would recommend it. I’ve been using it since August and no BFP yet. I think this month I’m going to chart the old fashioned way (pen and paper!) and see if Ava is predicting things correctly. I’ve not charted before personally so I still have a lot to learn!

@Sausage1990 Happy New Year! No advice for you I’m afraid but I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed that the BFP sticks! Especially as you’ve had all those faint positive lines - surely that means something?!

@WednesdaySpinner welcome and good luck! I really hope that we all get the BFPs we desperately want this year! Smile

Been following this thread since it started but havent made an account until now!

Decided to start TTC (trying to conceive) this month. DTD (doing the deed) on day 10/11/12 of my cycle as the Clue app says my fertile period would be between day 12 and 20 but Clue has been wrong a few times about my Cycle average and about days my AF is supposed to arrive so decided to take the fertile period with a pinch of SALT (speech and language therapy/therapist)!

since day 16, I had a few days of white milky discharge but not had the clear egg white discharge at all. I’m feeling nauseous all the time and lightheaded and a lot of left ovary side cramping which I’ve never had before. Also a very strong sense of smell which is odd for me. Generally feeling sluggish and tired.

How many DPO (days post ovulation) should I consider myself? My AF is due on 13th Jan according to Clue but could I test earlier?

Also forgot to add I had a lot of constipation/diarrhea and very bloated!

FirsttimeTTC · 01/01/2020 14:43

Happy new year ladies!!!

Since AF still hasn’t shown and I’m definitely not pregnant, last night I let my hair down and got very very drunk to see in this new year. It was a fantastic night!
Moving forward me and OH are not going to be drinking this year, to improve our health and to TTC. Not that I’m a big drinker anyway, more of a once a month type thing.

Anyway! Is anyone else going to make any
changes to improve their chances this year?

Baby dust to everyone!!

Echobear · 01/01/2020 18:35

@ttc26 hi and welcome :) now I might not be correct as everybodys cycles are so so different, mine on average is 28 days long and I don't know for sure but due to my cm and other symptoms I ovulate around day 14. My AF is due 3rd and I'm 11dpo. If you're not due until the 14th this would just be the beginning of your TWW? I might be totally wrong but this is just my thoughts comparing it to my cycle!

@FirsttimeTTC happy new year! I'm glad you had a good night!! May aswell have one last blow out!

WednesdaySpinner · 01/01/2020 20:29

@Echobear AF is due at the same time for me and I am also using Clue and Flo. How are you finding holding off testing again? I'm desperately trying not to test (and haven't so far) but I just don't see it happening this cycle for me as I have had zero symptoms. I am wishing you and everyone else much more luck!

@FirsttimeTTC I really need to exercise more and so that's the change that I will be making in 2020. I'm never going to be a gym lover but there's so much more I could be doing at home and I have read that keeping fit can help.

Echobear · 01/01/2020 21:12

@WednesdaySpinner everything crossed for us(and everybody else!) I'm just trying to keep busy.. Back to work tomorrow which should help and I've said to myself if AF hasn't shown up by Friday I'll get a test to do on Saturday morning... Its usually this time of night where I sit down and I'm itching to test! I feel a tiny bit queasy tonight but I have eaten a lot of biscuits so it could be that 😂 we can do this! Just a couple more days to wait and hopefully we will know either way!

WednesdaySpinner · 02/01/2020 09:18

I caved in and tested this morning, not surprisingly it was a bfn! Even though I had expected it, I surprised myself with how disappointed I am - I'm back at work today so it's onwards and upwards to try again in January Smile

peachypetite · 02/01/2020 09:30

Got my period. Have had irregular cycles but it showed up one day after the app (flo) said it was due. I’m not using OPKs but seems like everyone else is. Any you recommend?

FirsttimeTTC · 02/01/2020 10:45

@WednesdaySpinner ooh more exercise is something I should really start doing too. Sorry to hear about your bfn, fingers crossed for your next cycle!

@peachypetite I have the clearblue digital OPKs, but they are very expensive to maintain and I actually find it more confusing than using internet cheapies! I just ordered a pack of 50 from amazon.

I woke up this morning in absolute agony, AF is here with a vengeance! So glad to see the end of that 55 day cycle. Hopeful for this cycle Flowers

EithneBlue · 02/01/2020 11:01

@peachypetite I'm using boots cheapest own brand OPKs this month - they seem to be working just fine last month I used the POAS Boots ones which cost a little bit more there are fancier ones and digital ones out there but they're 3 times the price and it seems unnecessary at this stage. Mostly I'm just using the OPKs to get an understanding of my cycle (started earlier this month at CD5 so I could see my cycle pattern all the way through - would be a bit expensive on the fancy OPKs)

CD6 for me now - dry January day 2 and back to running every day. Just out of curiosity is anyone else on this thread also a runner? (I use the word 'run' loosely -- I run halves and marathons and other long distances but at more of a jogging pace)

peachypetite · 02/01/2020 11:23

@FirsttimeTTC period twins!
Thanks for the recommendations. I’m not sure if I’d just be better trying to relax for a bit and looking at EWCM instead? I don’t want to become totally obsessive but I am turning 32 this year and I do feel the pressure a bit

FirsttimeTTC · 02/01/2020 11:53

@peachypetite I’ve never had a period twin! Hahah, it’s going to be nice to have someone to be able to get through this cycle with.
I totally understand what you mean about the added pressure using OPKs. To be honest, I use them more to understand my cycle a bit more because I honestly have no idea what’s going on. I think if I knew my cycle like the back of my hand, I’d put too much pressure on myself with the OPKs and probably become obsessed.
Maybe try it for one cycle and see how it makes you feel?

peachypetite · 02/01/2020 14:24

I have bad cramps and can’t stop eating chocolate.

Shaunab16 · 02/01/2020 15:17

Hi all, can I jump on the TTC bandwagon please. I'm 27 and BF is 29. I came off the mini pill late October and we both agreed we would just let fate do its thing, now I know this sounds keen but I have become obsessed and mid December agreed to actively try. I'm on my last day of the ovulation period and tried the cushion under the bottom tip so the TWW is about to commence. We're not telling anyone we are trying as we don't want to add preasure so it would be nice to share this journey with you all. I'm a complete newbie to this forum so not sure on all the terms, bare with me lol

P.S sorry for the essay xx

jenna30 · 02/01/2020 19:36

I notice a few new people 😃 hi everyone! I hope this month is a lucky month for us all. 🌟

OP posts:
EithneBlue · 02/01/2020 19:57

@Shaunab16 - seems like you might've been wise not to tell people you're TTC! I have told a few close friends and literally they're like 'are you pregnant yet?!' and 'is this really dry January?' (Although I'm known to be fond of a glass or three of wine in social situations so I'm not sure quite how I'll hide that when the time eventually comes...).

@jenna30 New year, new humans! Fingers crossed it's a lucky one for all of us :-)

WednesdaySpinner · 02/01/2020 20:39

@eithneblue @shaunab16 I was ill over Christmas and had to cancel a meet up with my friends - the first thing they did was text me and say 'are you pregnant?'. I haven't even told them that I'm ttc, they are just assuming because we got married in September. It's really frustrating and so I agree that it is best to keep it to yourself if you can.

Not a runner I'm afraid, I'm probably as far from a runner as you can get! I like to do spin and prefer a nice sedate hike when I get the chance.

Thank you @FirsttimeTTC, I can feel cramps starting which is a telltale sign that AF is imminent. I thought about exercising but instead drank a glass of wine and ate a Kit Kat!

I am going to leave the apps alone for this month and instead just try to dtd every few days rather than focus on my ovulation date. My DH has said that he feels quite pressured if he knows I am ovulating and so hopefully this will help.

FirsttimeTTC · 02/01/2020 21:29

@wednesdayspinner it’s the thought that counts?! 😂
