Short LP & cycle success stories

Hello everyone. I'm hoping for some help. TTC#2 had an unsuccessful pregnancy (termination) 3 years ago. Conceived 3rd cycle of coming off pill last time, cycles were 28-29 days. I'm a 28.

Had nexplanon implant out September and had very short cycles since 23-24 days. I ovulate around CD14-15 and then my LP is only about 8-9 days long.

Does anyone have any success stories in similar situations and any advice on lengthening cycle? I've been taking sertraline 100mg for the last 13 months, reduced my dose down to 25mg the last month and now I have stopped completely. CD1 today. I also have been drinking 2-3 coffees a day - could any of these effect my cycle?

Thank you all 💕 any advice welcome

@Wearenotyourkind the first couple of days of a new cycle are always horrible but i keep trying to remind myself it will get better and i will have a baby one day. I tested this morning after having pink CM on thursday. I think im only 8dpo though so way too early. There was just a speck of pink where the 2nd line is meant to be (i think) even if this month isnt my month i feel like im getting closer x

CooperLooper · 26/01/2020 19:11

@Wearenotyourkind you have my sympathies you really do! Positive mindset into the next cycle though 😊

@Trying2019 do you think it could be the start of a positive? 🤞🏻

Trying2019 · 26/01/2020 21:50

@cooperlooper i really don't know. If there was a speck in more than one place then maybe but its so hard to tell. Definitely not stark white but at same time barely there. All month ive been doing positive thinking keep repeating to myself that i will be pregnant and i will see two lines. Swear im going crazy xx

CooperLooper · 27/01/2020 08:44

@Trying2019 how frustrating for you, have you tested again this morning? Is it any clearer?

@Beau2020x what about you, have you tested again this morning?

I'm so excited for you both!

Beau2020x · 27/01/2020 09:05

@CooperLooper ahh so sorry about AF - I didn't see this before my post. You don't class spotting as CD1, only when it starts as full flow. I was the same as you, on nexplanon before and no periods! The agnus castus, vit B complex, B6 and C seemed to help regulate my hormones.

I tested again last night and it was a verrrrryyyy faint line, probably more so than the first one so I'm maybe just thinking it's too good to be true - we hardly DTD at all this month so I just don't know how it's possible! I'm going to test again tomorrow morning.

CooperLooper · 27/01/2020 11:24

@Beau2020x don't worry about it, I've moved on now and it's a new cycle 😊 it was only another 3-day AF for me this time so still pretty light but we're getting there. B Complex is one I didn't pick up before so I'll go to H&B on my lunch and pick some of those up too - give me aaaaalll the vitamins.

How many DPO are you? Maybe you caught it super early and it's still early days for detecting HGC (or HCG I always forget which way around). Jeeze if people get pregnant accidentally from one night stands all the time then don't worry, you might have still caught as it only takes once!

Beau2020x · 27/01/2020 14:46

@CooperLooper Glad you are getting some results and hopefully some answers soon!

Not good news for me, done a FRER today and blazing BFN :( it was too good to be true. My boobs started hurting less and less as the morning went on today so did and test and 100% negative. Never mind, on to the next one!

lunamoon1 · 27/01/2020 14:58

@Beau2020x this happened to me last cycle, so frustrating! Hope you are feeling okay. Remember you aren't out until AF arrives!

@CooperLooper how are you doing? As others have said the first few days of a new cycle is hard then it's onwards and upwards, wishing you all the best for this one!

@Trying2019 keeping my fingers crossed that you will get your obvious BFP soon!

The TWW is really making me suffer🤦🏼‍♀️

CooperLooper · 27/01/2020 15:08

@Beau2020x oh I'm so sorry, when's AF due for you? Was today's test with FMU?

@lunamoon1 I'm doing absolutely fine, feeling positive and looking forward to this month's next fertile window 😊 thank you for asking though, I really appreciate it x

Trying2019 · 27/01/2020 15:59

Thank you @CooperLooper @lunamoon1 i havent tested again. I have a feeling that im out. I had the tinist speck of brown CM this morning and last night the weirdest orangey colour. I feel a bit crampy today and very wet (sorry tmi) but i cant check as im on a train no where near the toilet 🙈 if if i have started spotting already then im sure something is going on as never spot before 10 DPO and think im only 9.

@Beau2020x sorry to hear you had a negative. As we always say we are not out till AF arrives xx

Beau2020x · 27/01/2020 15:59

@CooperLooper @lunamoon1 thank you lovelies. It was with midday wee and it was very clear! I'm sure it's not going to happen anyway as I'd expect a much stronger line by now and my boobs have almost stopped hurting. AF due on 30th so just wishing it would arrive early so that I can get on with the next cycle. If I hadn't tested early I probably would have never known...

Beau2020x · 27/01/2020 16:01

@trying2019 praying we get out BFPs! I don't have mt hopes up anymore but I'm keeping everything crossed.

Trying2019 · 27/01/2020 17:22

@Beau2020x will keep my fingers crossed for you. Im definitely out now lots of brown CM and cervix feels low and slightly open. I wonder what the hell has gone on this month. Never spot this early. Makes me think maybe the egg fertilised tried to implant but progesterone was low. Either way least i had some positive signs this month and im getting blood tests done x

CooperLooper · 27/01/2020 17:45

Aww sorry @Trying2019, I was just going to say orange coloured CM is a good implantation sign, but if you think AF is starting then that's rubbish ☹️ can I be nosy and ask about your blood tests - were the doctors quite open to doing some tests then? Or did you need to give them a push?

Trying2019 · 27/01/2020 17:50

@trying2019 i did thimk orange was a good sign but this just feels more like the start of AF. Weirdly i feel sad but not half as bad as last month. My doctor was amazing. I did say it was nearly 12 months though. She even said if my tests and my husband's come back normal she will refer us to the fertility clinic because im 34 whereas if we were younger she would tell us to keep trying. So that gave me peace of mind. xx

CooperLooper · 27/01/2020 18:01

@Trying2019 definitely good to have peace of mind, even just having a future plan in place makes you feel more reassured x

Trying2019 · 27/01/2020 18:25

@CooperLooper yes its nice to know we have a back up if things dont go our way. Im tempted to just take folic acid this cycle. Since ive started taking everything else i seem to be getting worse but dont know what to do for the best. It might be good to get my bloods done with no supplements x

Makeafamily19 · 27/01/2020 18:26

Sorry for those with AF/ spotting, it's crap 🙁
And sorry to hear it may be a chemical @Beau2020x but maybe the wee was too diluted since it's still early.

I think I'm ovulating today/tomorrow as got a peak smiley yesterday, bang on time CD10 again. I'm never sure whether to DTD everyday or every other day as there seems to be conflicting information.
Counting down the days till my GP appt to discuss my blood results and next steps now on 5th Feb.

lunamoon1 · 27/01/2020 18:49

@CooperLooper that's good, so important to stay as positive as possible!x

@Trying2019 sorry it's not your month, but as you said it's a step in the right direction! when are you having your tests done? with regards to your vitamins ect do you take high dose vit C? There's been a few studies which have shown it can help with progesterone in the luteal phase, I really only take that my folic acid & vit d. Have just started taking omega-3 but that's nothing to do with TTC just don't get enough in my daily diet x

@Makeafamily19 fingers crossed for you! I think unless your partner has low sperm count there's no harm in doing every day if you can, but if you can't every other manages just as will I'm sure!Smile what bloods did your GP do for you?x

Trying2019 · 27/01/2020 19:27

@lunamoon1 i started a 500mg vitamin c this month. I've taken vitamin b complex for three months now and also added an extra vitamin b6 this month and this month im spotting 9 DPO so if anything im worse. I know you shouldnt count spotting but id much rather not have it. First couple of cycles i took coq10 and vital DHA but they were expensive. I had 12 days before any spotting when i was on them but long cycles so i cant win really. I have to have a blood test day 3-5 of my cylce but not sure whether i count spotting and then 7 days after ovulation so im going to attempt temping this month to pin point ovulation correctly.

@makingafamily19 my doctor advised every other day. Hope you're doing ok and this is your month xx

Makeafamily19 · 27/01/2020 20:22

@lunamoon1 I'm not 100% sure as he was just looking at his screen ticking boxes! I know progesterone is the main one but also some tests for thyroid and STDs as apparently you would have to test for those before fertility treatment anyway so may as well get them done. I'm intrigued to know if there were any others though.
You're in your TWW aren't you?

@Trying2019 thank you, I hope we all get a BFP soon!

Maybe I need to add vitamin C to the mix as well 😂 I'm on so many pills I have one of those weekly pill boxes! AC, vit B complex, folic acid and omega 3 with primrose up to ovulation. This month started DH on wellman conception as well.

Makeafamily19 · 27/01/2020 20:24

Oh and @Trying2019 I wouldn't count spotting for the blood test, do it on CD3 of bright red flow.

Trying2019 · 27/01/2020 20:28

@Makeafamily19 thanks ill do that. It seemed to take forever to get to bright red flow last cycle. I need to ring up really and see how soon in advance i need to book the appointment x

lunamoon1 · 28/01/2020 21:24

@Trying2019 it is so tricky to know what to do for the best, you here of all these stories of women trying this and that and getting their BFP's, but really there's no knowing whether they would have gotten their BFP anyway or if it was down to the concoction of vitamins/diets!

@Makeafamily19 that's good, yes they always do that out of a matter of routine, I'm sure when you next go if you ask they should be happy to tell you everything you've had done! I always see the vitamins like vit c, folic acids, omega-3 ect can't do any harm as you can take them when you're expecting too! I asked DH to take a multivitamin too, I mean it can't hurt can it lol! I am yes, praying this month is our month🙏🏼

Trying2019 · 28/01/2020 22:23

@lunamoon1 ive decided folic acid and vitamin c only this month. Id rather my bloods be tested with no supplements plus loads of people get pregnant when they take nothing. So part of me thinks all these supplements may be a myth or a con. Id drop the vitamin c as well but think its good for general health so not sure. I just read another post and the girls b12 was high and she was told to stop supplements by doctor so dont want to do more harm than good xx
