Short LP & cycle success stories

Hello everyone. I'm hoping for some help. TTC#2 had an unsuccessful pregnancy (termination) 3 years ago. Conceived 3rd cycle of coming off pill last time, cycles were 28-29 days. I'm a 28.

Had nexplanon implant out September and had very short cycles since 23-24 days. I ovulate around CD14-15 and then my LP is only about 8-9 days long.

Does anyone have any success stories in similar situations and any advice on lengthening cycle? I've been taking sertraline 100mg for the last 13 months, reduced my dose down to 25mg the last month and now I have stopped completely. CD1 today. I also have been drinking 2-3 coffees a day - could any of these effect my cycle?

Thank you all 💕 any advice welcome

@kkr168 I ovulated CD23 this time 😔 currently 4DPO and really hoping my LP stretches out further this month, double digits would be great and a huge improvement on my last two cycles (4days and 9days)

Bubble29 · 22/01/2020 22:06

@kkr168 I had my peak on day 15 so potentially ovulated on later that day or on day 16 of a 24/25 day cycle

@Beau2019 thanks for your reply. Make sense, just paranoid l! X

Trying2019 · 23/01/2020 07:18

@Bubble29 forgot to ask did you do anything differently the month u got your positive?

@kkr168 i ovulated day 18 and have the last three cycles. Before then i ovulated om day 23 and once day 32 and actually had a 12 day LP when i ovulated later x

Bubble29 · 23/01/2020 07:29

@Trying2019 tbh I had no idea about ovulation or anything like that so I purposely used the CB ovulation tester strips which was a game changer as my clue app predicted I would ovulate on CD10, so I would've missed the window.

I also started to take Folic acid 2 weeks before and tbh we did the Deed everyday from cycle day 7 which is when I got my first high fertility flashing smiley to CD 15 when I ovulated.

We have been very lucky to conceive on our first cycle, just hope it sticks. X

CooperLooper · 23/01/2020 09:26

So happy for you, you're so lucky to have caught on the first go!

I think a lot of us are on similar timelines, how's everyone getting on? I'm either 5DPO or 4DPO today, my temp spike put me back by a day as I seemed to have a 48hr lull after peak OPKs before my temp rose.

Looking forward to symptom spotting in a few more days, I know it's too early yet 😅

Beau2020x · 23/01/2020 09:42

7DPO for me today girls. I got my peak and a sudden decline all in one day which was CD15 so I am guessing I ovulated on that day. It would match up to the pains I got. I've been mildly cramping for the last few days which I usually get 5 days before AF - CD22 today so I am keeping everything crossed for no AF on Saturday and hoping last months 28 day cycle wasn't a fluke

Trying2019 · 23/01/2020 18:41

I need someone to help bring me back down to earth. I got a peak OPK friday night/saturday morning. I didnt test really before then but i think i got a negative the Wednesday or thursday. Today i have had loads of discharge and swear i saw the tiniest pink spot twice when wiping this morning and this afternoon. Tonight i have pink tinged CM. This was really obvious and in no doubt. I never spot this early i usually spot 10 DPO. Last night i had pain on my left side but had done yoga so assumed it was that. Im getting a bit excited that its implantation but really dont want to get my hopes up too much and does feel too early for implantation. Any thoughts? x

CooperLooper · 23/01/2020 18:55

Hey @Trying2019 i guess on average, based on all the info I've read over the last few months, implantation typically occurs on average 7-10DPO, so it does seem a little early.... (if we assume you ovulated Sunday/Monday 24-36hrs after LH peak), but then some sources online also say some people have been known to implant as early as day 5ish so you never know....

It could also be that you ovulated later than expected and this could be ovulation bleeding which some women get too so....

Who bloody knows but I'm excited to hear how you get on cos I love symptom spotting and hearing about other people's too! TTC is such a weird time 😂

Trying2019 · 23/01/2020 20:31

@CooperLooper thanks for replying. Im quite happy i have actually got a sympton to spot this month 🤣 i usually ovulate the day after my peak and with me not testing properly im thinking maybe i ovulated saturday which would make it more likely. Ive been pretty dry since sunday until today when i had the spotting and never had ovulation bleeding before but as u say who bloody knows Grin

CooperLooper · 23/01/2020 20:46

I wonder for people who implant early I'd assume they get positive tests early too? Keep an eye on it for sure because it does sound interesting! I'm 4DPO am just a day behind you, I'm feeling quite crampy/period-like today which probably isn't a good sign 😓

Trying2019 · 24/01/2020 19:46

@CooperLooper i imagine the earlier people implant the earlier they get a postive. I havent had anything since last night and no other symptoms. I dont think ill test till tuesday or Wednesday which is when i normal start spotting. I hate the uncertainty of squinters. How you feeling today?

CooperLooper · 24/01/2020 21:16

So no more pink tinges again? That really is weird, I wonder what is was - time will tell!

I'm doing okay, pretty crampy today but I know statistically it's too early for anything to be happening anyway. My temps are still higher than usual, so no telltale dip before AF yet.

I was likely going to test Weds too! That will be 10DPO for me, which I'll be pretty excited to achieve considering my last luteal phases were 4DPO and 9DPO. So I'll take a FRER to celebrate 😂

Trying2019 · 24/01/2020 22:07

No nothing. I did read that implantation can literally just be a couple of spots but i still can't imagine getting a positive and if im not pregnant god knows what it was.

Hoping you get to 10 DPO ive never even got to test before cos i spot early. Only ever tested once when my period didnt feel quite right and once before my wedding when i was on the pill and i didnt want a positive so it would be nice to get to test but at least we don't waste a fortune on tests x

CooperLooper · 24/01/2020 22:33

I'm out 😔 AF just got me. I'm CD29 and only 5DPO I'm so fucking frustrated. Aaaaargh.

Trying2019 · 24/01/2020 22:35

Oh that's shit i'm gutted for you. Is it full blown af or just spotting?

FanSpamTastic · 24/01/2020 22:42

Try Angus Castus Vitex - herbal remedy useful for smoothing out menstrual cycle.

CooperLooper · 24/01/2020 22:50

Already taking AC, started this (last cycle). It's light but it's more than spotting which is how they've started the last 3 times, and actually cos I now need to count this as CD1 I actually only had a 4 day luteal phase.

Not really sure where I go from here

Trying2019 · 25/01/2020 08:41

@CooperLooper what contraception were you on before and when did you come off it again? Silly question but have you googled whether its common after stopping what you were on? Also is it constantly a light flow or does it stop for ages. When i spot quite a bit which is more like a light flow it can then stop for hours and hours so i still class it as spotting. Id go to the doctors just for some advice. Its more than likely just your body settling down if its not been long. x

CooperLooper · 25/01/2020 09:56

Morning @Trying2019 yeah I know you're right. I was so frustrated last night but just getting on with it and being more positive today.

It was Nexplanon (implant) before with no periods at all whilst I had them in for 6yrs, so it's no surprise it's taking a while and it's all over the place.

I'm just more frustrated that it seems to have regressed this month - first month I started bleeding 4/5DPO which was 35 days after having it removed. Then I managed 9DPO but that was in a 50 day cycle 🙄😱 now I've hit 4/5DPO again but this time a 29 day cycle.

I'll give it another month of tracking and temping, with agnus castus and B6, and if I'm still all over the place I'll go to the doctors.

29 days is a nice cycle length at least, but I suppose my issue seems to be late ovulation really rather than a short LP (I Ov'd CD23 this month).

Aaaaah!! Positive mental attitude positive mental attitude positive mental attitude......

Beau2020x · 25/01/2020 19:41

Hey girls, just to update you all - I've had awfully painful boobs for last 3 days - never ever get that! I did a CB early result yesterday and BFN. Just done a FRER this afternoon and I THINK it may be positive!

It is possible!!! I'll test again in 2 days and see if it's still positive

Wearenotyourkind · 25/01/2020 20:09

Wow! @Beau2020x tentative congrats!!!!! How many DPO are you? I think we are similar? I'm 7/8 DPO.

CooperLooper · 26/01/2020 08:18

Aaaaah congrats @Beau2020x I can clearly see it! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Wearenotyourkind · 26/01/2020 09:18

FFS I'm out 😭😫 AF arrived this morning - so a 26 day cycle with an LP of only 8 days. Feeling really gutted this month. If I was a crier, I'd be in tears. Getting really frustrating now. Sorry for the rant ☹️

Trying2019 · 26/01/2020 10:07

@CooperLooper hope you are feeling ok today? I used to be the same the later i ovulated the longer my luteal phase no idea why. You just cant win some times its so frustrating

@Beau2019 definitely a line there. Congrats.

@Wearenotyourkind sorry to hear AF got you. Is it definitely full on AF or spotting?

X

Wearenotyourkind · 26/01/2020 10:57

Thanks for replying @Trying2019 💗 it's definitely full blown AF. Right, pull myself together, into CD1 and here's to the next cycle...

How's everyone else doing?
