Short LP & cycle success stories

Hello everyone. I'm hoping for some help. TTC#2 had an unsuccessful pregnancy (termination) 3 years ago. Conceived 3rd cycle of coming off pill last time, cycles were 28-29 days. I'm a 28.

Had nexplanon implant out September and had very short cycles since 23-24 days. I ovulate around CD14-15 and then my LP is only about 8-9 days long.

Does anyone have any success stories in similar situations and any advice on lengthening cycle? I've been taking sertraline 100mg for the last 13 months, reduced my dose down to 25mg the last month and now I have stopped completely. CD1 today. I also have been drinking 2-3 coffees a day - could any of these effect my cycle?

Thank you all 💕 any advice welcome

Hi all. Changed my name, it's makeafamily19.

So DH results show low count and motility. Not sure on exact figures as I need to look at the printout when I get home. In one way it's good to have a sort of answer to know why it's taking so long but it's hard knowing it may take a lot longer than normal or we may need help. Also doesn't mean there isn't a problem with me as well, but fingers crossed this is the only reason it's taking so long.

Sorry to hear that @Narwhal88 hopefully there's a plan of action for you though?

Another weird cycle for me. 40 days in total, ovulated CD34 so a 6 day LP this time. Which is 1 day more than the last few months so that's something... I've got my pelvic scan on Friday to check my ovaries and still waiting for my bloods back to rule out or determine PCOS - pushing everything to the back of my mind at the moment and we're taking a bit of a break from TTC for now until we know what's going on. Can't be doing with the pressure atm.

Hi guys - hope you don't mind me joining in on this? I'm currently trying to investigate if my LP is causing problems - I'm 37 been on the pill for many many years and just past the 6 months mark of TTC. From the info I've gathered (once my AF got back on track after my withdrawal bleed!! ) 3 days AF, 29 day cycle with an LH surge on the 18th day so LP is around 11days (if I ovulated close to my surge) - I'm meeting a doctor on Friday to discuss, does 11 days qualify as short & anyone else experienced this type of problem?

Narwhal88 · 04/03/2020 19:46

@CooperLooper hopefully they can find out what's going on soon. Will do you good to have a break, it is an all consuming process.
GP gave DH some things to change to try and improve the count and he has to have a retest in 3 months. We have our first fertility appointment in 3 weeks so will ask more then. It is pretty low though so not sure how much of an improvement we can make.

Wearenotyourkind · 04/03/2020 19:49

Hi @Luan82 welcome. I've read that 10 days + is considered okay, but less than 10 could be problematic. But good luck with the doctor and let us know how you get on and if there's any advice or info you can share with us.

Narwhal88 · 04/03/2020 19:51

Hi @Luan82 you normally ovulate around 24hrs after the surge so your LP is likely 10 days, which is a little short but not that bad really. Is it always 10 days? Mine is 14-15 days but I normally spot from day 10, though spotting from day 12 this cycle.

Luan82 · 05/03/2020 08:08

@Wearenotyourkind @Narwhal88 thanks guys ! Currently on my 18th day of this cycle, so as an exercise I'm going to test this morn and this aft (last time the only positive - static smiley result I got was the afternoon of the 18th day- at about four pm!!). I did also get a strong ish line back on the 28th of February though which would be day 12 so perhaps ovulated early?? It's an absolute minefield - massive respect to all the ladies going through this monthly !! Xx

Luan82 · 05/03/2020 08:11

The strange thing is i often get a really heavy feeling in my lower tummy at the time of ovulation - so much so that I can actually tell I've ovulated!! This time it's less obvious, so maybe the timings have shifted ? I'll let you know how I get on at the docs tomorrow 🤞🏼x

Trying2019 · 05/03/2020 16:50

@Narwhal88 hi. Sorry only just replying ive been taking a break from MN and trying to put TTC to the back of my mind. Sorry to hear about your husbands SA. I've heard so many stories of it increasing with supplements so get him started on them all. How has he taken the news? I know its easy for me to say but when we were awaiting our results i kept thinking as long as DH has some sperm and i have eggs we will have a baby eventually. All is not lost with a disappointing SA. How long did your fertility appointment take to come through? Ive just been referred today xx

Narwhal88 · 05/03/2020 17:42

@Trying2019 yeah that's what I keep thinking before we got the results, as long as he has SOME sperm. I think it hit me today more than yesterday though that even though there are options it means likely having IVF which is at least a year away as well as the actually toll of going through IVF.
We will try everything to improve the results but to be honest they are so bad I don't think we are gonna get them up to a good enough standard to conceive naturally. Wrapping my head around that is difficult. DH took it bad but is ok, I don't think he fully realises how bad they are as the GP played it down. Count should be 15million/ml and the very least and his was 2.9.

I was surprised how fast the referral was actually. Received a letter in about a week then it was choose and book and appointments were a month away so 5 weeks total. I still want to get a scan and HSG done for me to see if I have any problems as well.

Trying2019 · 05/03/2020 18:28

That isn't long at all. I know what you mean. Its easier to think ah never mind we will have ivf but its such a difficult process and a massive toll on your body. A few people i know have had it but none of them were very vocal about what it was like. You're a step closer though to a baby by being referred. Ive asked for the tube test whilst i'm waiting. Doctor said she will try but the request may be rejected. Once im back off holiday im going to try some different things to extend my LP just incase xx

Luan82 · 05/03/2020 18:33

Update on LP- got my surge this afternoon so that's EXACTLY the same day and time of my cycle (day 18 of 29 ) I use CB and never get a flashing smiley just straight from negative to static smile ... pleased I can go to the docs tomrrow armed with this info
