Short LP & cycle success stories

Hello everyone. I'm hoping for some help. TTC#2 had an unsuccessful pregnancy (termination) 3 years ago. Conceived 3rd cycle of coming off pill last time, cycles were 28-29 days. I'm a 28.

Had nexplanon implant out September and had very short cycles since 23-24 days. I ovulate around CD14-15 and then my LP is only about 8-9 days long.

Does anyone have any success stories in similar situations and any advice on lengthening cycle? I've been taking sertraline 100mg for the last 13 months, reduced my dose down to 25mg the last month and now I have stopped completely. CD1 today. I also have been drinking 2-3 coffees a day - could any of these effect my cycle?

Thank you all 💕 any advice welcome

@lunamoon1 no he didn't say, tbh I don't think he would have a clue, he was just following the nice guidelines on referral after 12 months, he is a really nice GP though so I'm thankful for that. After DH SA I will check the referral was done and see if they know timescales.

@Trying2019 that's great news that all is normal so far. I'm sure the last one will be too. I know what you mean about the spotting taking something away. I feel like I never even get to hope as the spotting takes it away, but it teases you as it's not actual AF so there's always what if?? But then again you get crushed and wonder why you were being so stupid!

Trying2019 · 06/02/2020 21:26

@Makeafamily19 yes fingers crossed for the last one. Surprised they came back so quick. I'll make an appointment to see the gp after my progesterone check. Husband SA will be back by then as well.

When i start spotting i 99% know im out. Last cycle I at least got a bit of excitement and hope with my pink CM 5dpo. Meant i could test for the first time. On the plus side we are saving a fortune on test Smile Xx

Nat4392 · 07/02/2020 07:37

Caved at 12DPO and did a FRER this morning and BFN (albeit with SMU not FMU). I’m happy that my LP has got to a normal length at least. Not going to lie though, I was convinced I was going to get a BFP as I’ve been nauseous for days now but just think it’s because I’m anxious.

Trying2019 · 07/02/2020 08:07

@Nat4392 Aw gutted as you say though great that you have a normal LP and could still get your BFP if you implanted late. Did you do anything differently this month? Xx

lunamoon1 · 07/02/2020 08:26

@Makeafamily19 that's good, even to have the knowledge something is being done is reassuring

@Nat4392 sorry about your BNF, it sounded really promising, but take all the good out it you can having a 12 day LP is fantastic! did you do anything differently this cycle? We need to trust in our bodies, they are amazing things really. The usual mumsnet saying though you aren't out until AF arrives🤞🏼

@lunamoon1 @Trying2019 no I haven’t done anything different, although AF was longer and heavier this cycle so don’t know if that’s anything? I still have a glimmer of hope that AF isn’t here yet 🤞🏻

I’ve had fertility reflexology this cycle actually, I was quite skeptical of it doing anything but maybe that’s it? No idea!

Nat4392 · 07/02/2020 16:18

AF just arrived 😫 so so gutted. Really thought this was it. Onward to next month!

lunamoon1 · 07/02/2020 17:09

@Nat4392 I'm sorry - it's so gutting isn't it! Hope you have a nice weekend planned to cheer you up & then like you said onwards and upwards! How did you find the reflexology? I've been looking into it. I tried acupuncture but it was expensive for what it was and didn't do anything for me. Hugs🤗x

Trying2019 · 07/02/2020 17:19

@Nat4392 so sorry. AF is such a witch. Just remember these few days are always the worse. AF is never nice but when you are TTC it's just even worse. Great about your LP though.

I was going to try acupuncture or reflexology but i'm thinking i shouldnt just throw my money at everything so soon when some people drink and smoke and get pregnant easily.

Rang doctors again. My doctor is off till Tuesday so i wont find out the last result till then. So annoying. It's the FSH one she needs to check which typically is the most important. Tried to ask receptionist for the level but she said she couldn't make any sense of it there were too many different numbers. She just said nothing was in red and normally if something is high it will be. Apparently blood tests get emailed to your doctor to check but this one just came back later and the doctor has been off since. So fingers crossed xx

Nat4392 · 07/02/2020 18:11

@lunamoon1 I literally burst into tears in my car on the way home, I’m so fed up.
I’ve liked the reflexology so far, been having it fortnightly. Although won’t be keeping it up quite that frequently due to costs.
I’ll be having a large glass of wine tonight!!

Makeafamily19 · 07/02/2020 18:23

Sorry about AF @Nat4392 what cycle are you on now? It's just shit isn't it. I cry on the way to work every month, sometimes more than others. Mostly my eyes fill and I fight it as I just don't want it to make me so sad all the time.
My spotting started today so that's this month out and it's heavier than the last 2 months so doesn't appear that the AC helped anything! Maybe too early though. Onto cycle 10!

I hate how bitter this 'journey' is making me. I can't stand even seeing kids or pregnant woman at the moment. If there is any mention of babies/ kids/ pregnancy on the radio/ tv, I have to change the channel. There is just so much anger, I know it's not anyone else's fault but it just seems so unfair. I don't even want to see one of my best friends as she has a toddler attached to her hip (sex one time bam accidentally pregnant even with PCOS). Grrrr! At least it's the weekend!

Nat4392 · 07/02/2020 18:31

@Makeafamily19 this was only cycle 5 so far which I know is nothing and I need to realise it’s still early days. My best friend fell pregnant on her first cycle and she sent me a picture of her scan today which just tipped me over the edge. I’m immensely happy for her but I did not need that today

lunamoon1 · 07/02/2020 19:28

@Nat4392 I'm not surprised, it's so tiring isn't it! I know we will all get to where we want to be though, and it's nice to know we are all in it together. How long have you been TTC if you don't mind my asking? Agreed, it's so much money! Hope the wine tastes good, I'll be having one too🥂

@Trying2019 that's good news about your results, keeping everything crossed that everything will be within 'normal' range🤞🏼

@Makeafamily19 it does, it suddenly makes you see everything you don't have and it's heartbreaking, I try to remind myself when the jealously sets in when I see people with babies that they might have had a long/difficult road to get there... I know most of the time it won't be true but it takes the edge off for me

Will this be first pregnancy for all of you ladies? It's lovely to meet you all too😊

lunamoon1 · 07/02/2020 19:29

@Nat4392 sorry never mind my question, I have just seen your reply about it being cycle 5, whoops!

Wearenotyourkind · 07/02/2020 19:36

Argh sorry to hear this @Nat4392 I absolutely feel your pain. The first day of AF is always the worst psychologically. Definitely indulge in a large glass of wine.

Nat4392 · 07/02/2020 19:51

Thanks everyone, it really helps to know you’re not alone when it comes to feeling like this every month. The wine is going down well and I’ll see what next month brings ❤️

Trying2019 · 08/02/2020 09:41

@Makeafamily19 @Nat4392 so sorry that you are both feeling so shit. Ive been there and its just horrible. It will get better in a few days though.

@lunamoon1 will be the first pregnancy for me when it finally happens. I'm excited to experience it all xx

Realy hoping to see some positives in this group soon xx

Wearenotyourkind · 08/02/2020 09:51

Is anyone else using the CB advanced OPKs? I used them for the 1st time last month and got 7 days of flashing smileys from CD11 before my peak static smileys at CD18/19. This month it's different - I'm now on CD14 and still no flashing smiley. Am I overthinking it? (There is a strong chance of this 😂)

Trying2019 · 08/02/2020 11:31

@wearenotyourkind i wouldnt worry about not getting as many as last cycle it can vary. Is your cycle normally regular? Id start testing a bit later and save yourself some money. Once u get a flashy test twice a day but use a cheapy the 2nd time and if it looks dark then use the CB to confirm. Just try to have sex every 3 days if your not regular or every other. Ive read people who didnt get a static but got pregnant the same cycle. Xx

CooperLooper · 08/02/2020 19:34

Hey everyone just checking in. I've switched Mumsnet off for a while, sometimes I really love the BFP/squinter posts but lately I'm just a bit sick of them all and tuned out for a while, and put conceiving to the back of my mind.

I'm CD15 today and my OPKs are slowly getting darker, I think I'm maybe a day or two away from my peak, so fingers crossed I ovulate CD17-18 this month which is a bit more 'normal'.

Still taking my millions of tablets too. What's the general consensus on agnus castus - take it every day or only up to ovulation?

Statistically we must be getting at least one BFP on this group soon, I'm keeping all my fingers crossed for everyone 😬🤞🏻

lunamoon1 · 08/02/2020 20:32

@Trying2019 it won't be long for us all, I really hope!

@Wearenotyourkind the 3 months I used them I differed quite a lot, 8 days of flashing then 5 then 10 so it really just depends! I'm done using them though they cause me more trouble that use. Stick with it this month though, you will get your solid soon

@CooperLooper welcome back! hope you are doing okay. I feel the same, it's nice and torturous all at the same time... I hope you so. Pretty much from what I've read it's up to ovulation but if that doesn't work then switch to throughout the whole cycle. I was interested in AC but am going to just try high strength vit C & zinc this month & if it doesn't work try AC next. Really hope it works for you! You are right... we are bound to!🙏🏼

Makeafamily19 · 09/02/2020 08:18

@CooperLooper I know what you mean, I stick to just checking a couple of threads now and I've started reading the infertility ones as strangely I find they make me feel more positive.
I tried AC this month and took it the whole cycle but I don't feel it's made any difference, my spotting is actually heavier and no difference to PMS. I only took 1 a day and the box says 2 though. Maybe it takes a few cycles to work but I think I may stop it for now as I don't want to mess my cycle up.

Trying2019 · 09/02/2020 09:05

Hi @CooperLooper welcome back. I have heard only take AC up to ovulation not sure why. I am the same with the is it a line posts. Especially when its really obvious and they have only been trying a month or two. I do like the ones when the OP has been trying for ages though. Feel so pleased for them. I tend to just check the posts im on now as get all the support i need on this one and one other that im on. I sometimes read the relationships one. Such crazy stuff on there it makes me feel better about my life 😂 ive also discovered after mentioning CM the other day that i get loads more if I exercise. I think i probably have it all the time but it stays higher up near my cervix and then exercise pushes it down so I notice more. Worth a try if you dont notice any xx

CooperLooper · 09/02/2020 09:35

Hmm... maybe I'll take AC up to ovulation then, I'm still taking b6 and b-complex so hopefully that'll sort my LP out on the other end

Can't be doing with those squinter posts when it's their first month of trying either. Happy for them etc etc but pls fuck off at the same time 🙄 although I sometimes read through the infertility boards too @Makeafamily19 because I do like the happy ending ones with people trying for years or with issues and they finally get positives, so that's nice

We've only been trying for 5 months which I know is barely anything in comparison, I guess I thought it would have happened by now - so it's just making me lose a bit of interest in constantly reading and researching about ovulation and conception etc all the time

@Trying2019 that's interesting about CM, I'm still not noticing anything different this month either and I'm really trying to up my water intake... I'll try it and see if checking after exercise makes a difference, you might be on to something there
