Hi ladies . I’ve just finished my period today and my husband and I are now going to start ttc our first baby after having my Mirena removed last week.
Is anyone else TTC this month ? I’ve ordered some ovulation tests after I said I wouldn’t because I’ve read so many success stories on them so I thought I might as well just so I have some in case !

I’d love for people to share their journey with me ! I’m 24, 25 in two weeks . So excited for our journey . I’m trying to figure out this whole lingo on here and stuff sorry! X

@LeaBri that’s so exciting, can’t wait to hear!! Do let us know!

@itsemily sorry that this month wasn’t your month, my supposedly regular cycle seems to be all over the place too - my temp has finally risen and my app says I ovulated on CD15 rather than the CD12 I was expecting (I have short 25 day cycles). So now if AF is late I won’t know if that’s because I ovulated late or I’m pregnant...
According to my app I’m now 4dpo...

Konbanwa · 23/10/2019 11:54

Hey guys! Still no AF here and I'm now at cd30. I have no idea what's going on with my body but hopefully it'll hurry up and get going!

han2291 · 23/10/2019 12:01

@CurbsideProphet it's a fine line to tread right?! Each month I'm like "no no I won't be pregnant yet" and the other half of my brain is like "yes yes you totally could be get excited"! Think you have to keep expectations low to avoid disappointment. But I hope it won't take any of us 12+ months ☺️

@LeaBri good luck! Keeping everything crossed for you, hope this month is your month!

@xoJellyBean hold on for a few more days, do you think you'll wait to test on Saturday or will you try on Friday?

@notalwaysalondoner your body is confused this month too then 😞 hopefully AF won't come at all for you!

@Konbanwa ooh seriously? I don't want to add pressure but I have read about women not having a positive show up in urine at all, it's only when they visit GP and have a blood test that pregnancy is confirmed. Are you just going to wait it out?

Konbanwa · 23/10/2019 12:26

@han2291 I don't think it's because I'm pregnant but more that my cycles are still all over the place

LeaBri · 23/10/2019 12:37

@notalwaysalondoner @han2291 thanks so much ladies sadly did my FMU and it was a BFN! I was so gutted I cried to my partner. Feeling a bit more positive now, it just wasn’t my month! Here’s to next ay!

@xojellybean good luck for your test! How exciting! I’m keeping everything crossed for you Grin let us know!

CurbsideProphet · 23/10/2019 12:39

@han2291 we're only on our first month of trying and already I'm trying to balance between hope / reality / anxiety.

It's also tricky to balance the feeling that I'm trying to schedule DTD in line with my cycle.

xoJellyBean · 23/10/2019 13:46

@han2291 I actually tested this morning and it was negative but I'm 8dpo so google tells me that's early lol today I've got weird tugging going on in my lower abdomen & earlier my hubby was winding me up about something and I completed snapped at him! Oops. Could be AF though.

@LeaBri thanks! What cycle / dpo are you?

LeaBri · 23/10/2019 18:22

@xoJellyBean it’s our first month try to conceive and I am 14 DPO today, AF was due today but no sign of that yet... how about you?

xoJellyBean · 23/10/2019 18:34

@LeaBri I'm first cycle too! Are you going to keep testing? I'm 8dpo. Any symptoms??

GaaaaarlicBread · 23/10/2019 19:43

Hey girls sorry I’ve not been on today ! Had a busy day doing some decorating . AF has finally lightened up this afternoon ! After making a 111 call for advise (due to my epilepsy and blood loss), where they said that coming off the coil can cause heavy bleeding if you’ve not had a period for a while ! They’ve advised an iron supplement so I’m on that now .
Not sure what to do when AF finishes , shall we just DTD every other day until AF is due again rather than faffing with OPK’s ?
It would be better for DH if I don’t mention ovulation this month lol. Start as we mean to go on...

OP posts:
CurbsideProphet · 23/10/2019 20:49

@Itsemily hopefully you'll start feeling the benefit from the iron supplement.

This might be TMI but we would normally just DTD at the weekend because we're tired in the week Blush Grin I'm prob ovulating now, so it's difficult to say "Oi DH I'm ovulating" without killing the mood Wink especially when this is literally our first month of officially ttc.

xoJellyBean · 23/10/2019 20:52

Ohhh guys I have such cramps in my lower abdomen (not af ones but different ones?) and lots of cm... I hate how my body confuses me :(

Konbanwa · 23/10/2019 21:05

@Itsemily I'm glad that your bleeding seems to be easing up and that 111 were helpful!

I'm not sure what we are going to do next month. I've still not started AF and I don't think me cycles are back to normal after coming off the pill. We might just end up taking it easy next month and just track my cycle a bit. Go in with an expectation of if it happens then it happens, but track my cycle with OPKs to make sure I'm definitely ovulating.

I'm really disappointed to be honest because after having a 27 day cycle for month 1 it seems like my body has gone haywire for month 2. Looks like the pill has had a greater impact than I thought 😓

Also my sister has PCOS and I am just hoping that this long cycle isn't an indicator of anything like that!

GaaaaarlicBread · 23/10/2019 21:06

@CurbsideProphet I know what you mean- it’s difficult!

OP posts:
GaaaaarlicBread · 23/10/2019 21:10

@xoJellyBean it is so confusing. But next month I am not going to pay attention to signs or symptoms as I don't want to feel disappointed should it not be a positive. Luckily this month I didn't allow myself to either, despite having so many new symptoms ! It's so hard but try not to overthink things or symptom spot too much. FIngers crossed though!

@Konbanwa 111 were so good bless them.
I don't think you have PCOS , I think you would know by now. Coming off the pill can take a while for your body to adjust, my Mother in Law was on the pill, came off it as she wanted to get pregnant and was told it would take a few months, she got pregnant straight away first time trying, only DTD once! My friend however, took two months so it varies greatly, sadly! I hate the unknown though, like will we all get a positive next month? Who knows!

GaaaaarlicBread · 23/10/2019 21:11

I'm just catching up on Dublin Murders-not seen any of them yet so Iplayering it all now! Quite hooked already lol

OP posts:
CurbsideProphet · 23/10/2019 21:14

@Konbanwa my friend said she took 3-4 months to get back to a normal cycle after she came off the pill. Hopefully yours will settle down in the next month.

Konbanwa · 23/10/2019 21:14

@Itsemily I know it's probably not that but it's still hard to stop your mind spinning! I think we might just have a relaxed November on the TTC front and just see what luck brings us.

Also, I was reading online that your GP won't even investigate period issues after hormonal birth control until you have been off them for 12 months! So I guess it can take a good few months for things to settle back down into your natural rhythm.

@xoJellyBean TTC definitely makes symptom spotters out of us all! It's just so frustrating that the symptoms of AF and early pregnancy seem to be practically the same!

Konbanwa · 23/10/2019 21:18

@CurbsideProphet Fingers crossed that they settle down soon! It's just so frustrating because I used to be like clockwork!

@Itsemily I haven't watched any of that. You'll have to let us know if it is any good. I've just watched the final of Rhythm and Flow on netflix and it was great!

TeddyToaster · 23/10/2019 23:39

Hiya ladies, sorry I haven't been around - been super busy. On half term and been visiting fam so, of course, I ovulate when we're at my sister's! Halloween Hmm
We're on month one and I have an Ovusense which has been really easy to use.. Tmi but you shove it in every night and it does the job for you! Haha.
DP has been 'releasing tension' Halloween Wink every other day to keep it all 'fresh' and we managed to dtd twice during ovulation but not holding out much hope..! Would be very surprised if it worked! Haha.

Hope you're all doing OK.. Bring on 1 dpo.. Halloween Hmm

notalwaysalondoner · 24/10/2019 13:05

@Konbanwa so you still haven't started? Gosh, what a wait. I know after the pill it can take several months to settle down, so I guess you have to just see what happens.

@Itsemily that sounds rough, I'm glad it's settled down a bit for you.

In terms of DTD, this month we did it every 1-2 days around ovulation, but it turns out (based on temps) that I ovulated a 3 days later than I expected so I think we did it twice in the window. I get more 'interested' around that time of the month which is very convenient! DH seemed quite happy to be informed "We should DTD at some point today" so I guess I'll go with that approach for now. I think most studies recommend every 2 days from Day 8 then every day in the fertile window and two days after. But trying to figure out exactly when that means is tricky!

Maybe something like Ovusense is a good idea! @TeddyToaster, what gave you the idea of using that straight from month 1? I've been taking a more 'ramp up' approach of month 1- just temping, month 2 I think I will use OPKs, then ClearBlue, then maybe Ovusense... but maybe it's better to just skip straight to the best option! It's pretty expensive though, do you think it's worth it?

I have no real symptoms yet at 5dpo. I noticed my boob was a tiny bit tender last night which I wouldn't normally expect until 1-2 days before my period, but that is it... @CurbsideProphet, definitely trying not to symptom spot along with you!

Hannahb26 · 24/10/2019 13:15

Hello everyone! Brand new to this and had a read of everyone’s posts - think I’m mostly in the same boat. Got my Mirena coil removed on Monday and now officially TTC! Bought some ovulation tests yesterday but not sure when to use them as I’ve not had a period whilst I’ve had my coil in. Any advice? This is so exciting/nerve wracking!

han2291 · 24/10/2019 13:26

@Hannahb26 don't go down the OPK rabbit hole it will suck you in! I think maybe give it a few months to see how your body reacts/adjusts to stopping BC ☺️ a good excuse to DTD a lot!

@Itsemily glad that AF is easing up, hopefully that won't be your new normal and that the iron will help. I'm definitely thinking that if we don't get a BFP this month I'm going to ease up on the OPKs.. I'm hating the pressure it's adding and that DTD has become scheduled, which I never wanted to happen 🤦🏻‍♀️

@Konbanwa sorry your cycle is acting up this month, that's got to be really frustrating 😞 if your last was average hopefully this one was just a blip! Are you still feeling really crampy?

@notalwaysalondoner I think that's a hormonal thing to be more "in the mood" before ovulating, super convenient haha symptom spotting is the worst.

I'm CD11 today just waiting for a positive OPK.. last month it was day 16 so I'm hoping it's earlier this time but we'll see. I now seem to measure time by which cycle day I'm at 😂

Blondeandbroody · 24/10/2019 13:43

I’ve just been to the doctors today to discuss coming off the mini pill (Desogestrel) as we want to start TTC baby number 1 in the next couple of months. My current pill runs out next week, after that I’m hoping that my periods return to normal fairly quickly so that we can start trying... in the meantime I think we will just see what happens. Advice welcome!

TeddyToaster · 24/10/2019 13:44

@notalwaysalondoner This isn't my first time ttc. Previous marriage but (thankfully) it didn't work out.
My cycles aren't the most regular either so it really helps me get an accurate reading every month rather than all the guesswork.

If you can afford it, I would definitely recommend. It's got good reviews. X
