Hi. We have been TTC baby number 2 for 5 months now. My cycle was a bit all over the place at first but I have noticed I ovulate late recently (positive opk days 19/20) but my cycle is only 29 days usually, and was 27 this month. Im concerned that there isnt the time after ovulation for implantation and asked my GP but they didnt seem to get what I was worried about. Google seems to point to low progesterone and wondered if anyone else had similar and had any advice? Thanks x

I am almost certain I resolved my similar issue with B vitamins. I took a complex and after ttc for two years was pregnant after four months of taking the supplements. Have a google and see what you think. Ima tell tale sign for me was spotting, thick brown discharge, for three or four days before af arrived. That was the womb lining breaking down too early and not giving a developing embryo a chance to bed in, so I believe.

Sarahsarahsarah303030 · 01/10/2019 21:16

Thank you for that, I will definitely look into it. Reading up about vitamin c as well. I am on a TTC vitamin so will have a look at the level of B in that and maybe supplement. Thank you for the advice x

I also have this issue, been trying for 15 months now so thanks for asking about it @sarah, interested in which B vitamins you recommend @Goodebe please?

Goodebe · 02/10/2019 01:51

I took a Vitamin B complex, boots own. It might be complete coincidence but worth mentioning that I stopped at around 7 weeks pregnant and same day started spotting. I went to EPU for a scan and mentioned it to the sonographer, she said it was very unlikely to be related but found a heartbeat so all fine. I did start taking the vitamins again, just in case. Stopped again at 12 weeks and no more spotting, baby absolutely fine.

Sarahsarahsarah303030 · 02/10/2019 06:56

@Goodebe great to hear that everything was fine with baby! Will definitely give the vitamins a try. X

Hi @Sarahsarahsarah303030 I think I'm experiencing the same thing right now.. TTC#1 and I got my LH surge today on cycle day 17 but lately my cycles have been 26/27 days 🙁 Google has freaked me out so I'm hoping someone will say it happened to them but they still conceived!! Let me know how you get on xx

Sarahsarahsarah303030 · 03/10/2019 10:01

@han2291 I made the mistake of going on Google too! When we were trying for my daughter (she is now 2) I had my LH surge around day 16/17. I have got the vitamins recommended by @Goodebe and going shopping for foods that apparently help with progesterone levels. Good luck, will let you know how I get on this month x

@Sarahsarahsarah303030 why do we do it to ourselves, Google always tells you the worst things will happen haha sounds like a good plan, I've also been reading up on boosting my progesterone via diet since it can do no harm 🤞🏼

I've started worrying about this now as well. My first two cycles after BC were really long. This cycle I finally ovulated day 20 but started spotting day 30. The last two months I had a 12 day luteal phase but now dropped to 10 always something to worry about

waitingforarainbow · 03/10/2019 21:04

When my cycles came back after breastfeeding, my luteal phase was short (9 days) but after a couple of months of taking a B vitamin complex and Agnus Castus, it lengthened to 14 days. Could be coincidence but lots of people swear by those. Good luck! x

Nic555 · 03/10/2019 21:30

@waitingforarainbow
I think I'm going to take some B vitamin complex to see if it helps. I'm not sure if your luteal ends on spotting or full AF so might not be as short as I think x

mrsmonkey14 · 03/10/2019 21:45

I read your post with interest as I was tracking ovulation prior to pregnancies for both my children. I had exactly same luteal phase as you OP but was very lucky to conceive first attempt both times. So in my case it certainly wasn’t a barrier to conceiving. Just thought I would mention in case it’s helpful. In both pregnancies I had spotting in first few weeks necessitating early scans, I don’t know if that was connected. Good luck.

Nic555 · 03/10/2019 21:52

@mrsmonkey14 thanks for taking the time to post your positive story. Has stopped me worrying x

catsandkid · 03/10/2019 22:09

I have a short LP too - 10-11 days usually. Has been 9 days previously too.

Now in first month ttc#2 but had short LP when ttc#1 and fell pregnant pretty quickly then (2nd cycle but first cycle actually tracking) so it didn't seem to hold us back. I do worry about it this time though!

Sarahsarahsarah303030 · 03/10/2019 22:51

@mrsmonkey14 it's great to hear a positive story, definitely gives me some hope! Thank you!
Trying not to worry as I know that wont help but easier said than done!

Sarahsarahsarah303030 · 03/10/2019 22:55

@catsandkid Good Luck with #2, great to hear that your LP didnt hold you back with #1. I think mine was about 12 days with #1 and it was our 2nd cycle of tracking when we conceived. Think everything feels like more of a worry this time. Good luck to you!

@Sarahsarahsarah303030 how are you getting on this month? ☺️

Sarahsarahsarah303030 · 12/10/2019 13:16

Currently on day 18, still no positive opk @han2291. Expecting it tomorrow and then fingers crossed!! Have made some diet changes and been taking vitamin B. How are you getting on? Xx

OP posts:
han2291 · 12/10/2019 13:48

@Sarahsarahsarah303030 hoping for all the best for you! 🤞🏼 I got my LH surge on cycle day 18, currently on cycle day 26. According to my last cycle AF should be here tomorrow but I'm really really hoping that won't be the case (even if I'm not pregnant, I'd just like my cycle to be a few days longer so my LP is longer 🙁)

Sarahsarahsarah303030 · 12/10/2019 13:55

@han2291 let me know how you get on! Will be hoping for good news for you this month! X

Hello, mine was only 9 days and I recall telling the gp about it and he being v dismissive!

I eventually got diagnosed with slightly underactive thyroid and am convinced it played with my cycles. A few weeks after starting taking medication I was pregnant. Went on to have 2 kids.

Do ask for a thyroid blood check if not done already.

I also had reflexology which was supposed to help regulate my cycles. No idea if it worked, tbh am sceptical, but the treatment was pleasant enough.

catsandkid · 12/10/2019 19:39

I'm currently in the tww. I have long cycles but short LP so I ov'd CD26 this cycle. Am 5dpo. Hate the waiting!!

han2291 · 13/10/2019 01:23

@catsandkid yeah the waiting is horrible 🙁 you don't want to dwell on it but it's sooo hard not to!

@Frazzled2207 thanks for sharing your experience! I'd read that acupuncture could help, definitely something I'd be interested to try. Have always wondered about my thyroid but I think I'll give it a few more months to see if my natural cycle will sort itself out 🤞🏼

han2291 · 13/10/2019 10:53

@Sarahsarahsarah303030 I think I'm out for this month 😔 it's very light but I think this is it. That would put my LP this cycle at 9/10 days. I keep telling myself my body is still adjusting post pill but it's hard to not feel disappointed.
