Hi. We have been TTC baby number 2 for 5 months now. My cycle was a bit all over the place at first but I have noticed I ovulate late recently (positive opk days 19/20) but my cycle is only 29 days usually, and was 27 this month. Im concerned that there isnt the time after ovulation for implantation and asked my GP but they didnt seem to get what I was worried about. Google seems to point to low progesterone and wondered if anyone else had similar and had any advice? Thanks x

@sarahsarahsarah303030 It said that vitamin C was water soluable so is just removed in urine so I thought why not try it. What are the blood tests for if you don't mind me asking? I was thinking about contacting my GP but wasn't sure if they would take me seriously.

Sarahsarahsarah303030 · 08/11/2019 20:33

Definitely worth a try then!
I'm having full blood tests, including a progesterone one. My GP said I am most probably over thinking it all and it's more of a reassurance thing, but I turned up with my print outs of short LP and what it can mean and my list of my cycles, so I think they knew I needed something done. If there is a problem i would rather know sooner than later. Currently on CD18 and had a very very faint second line on opk, which I know isn't actually a positive. Doing my best to stay positive though (easier said than done!!) x

Hi ladies

Hope it's ok if I join you all! I do have to read the chat from the beginning to get to know all of you. But before that here are my stats:

We're ttc #2. It's been 8 months (so far I've had 7 periods. And 3 been regular)
DS is now 14mo
I'm almost 30. DH is 31
Just stop bf last Sunday. So hope this will kick my fertility back.
Started doing OPKs last month but I'm rubish at it.
DH and I started taking Pregnacare Conception this week. And I have also been taking Vitex since last month.

Sending you all good luck and massive amount of baby dust! Xxx

Sarahsarahsarah303030 · 09/11/2019 18:28

Hi @mrssendy. Good Luck to you as well, keeping my fingers crossed for everyone on here, hopefully someone will have some good news to share soon!

Can I ask if anyone does OPK more than once a day? I have got a very very faint second line again today and wondering if I am missing my LH surge. It was the same last month. Just giving me something else to worry about! X

OP posts:
Nic555 · 09/11/2019 19:03

@Sarahsarahsarah303030 yes I'd check twice a day closer to ovulation. As for some people the surge doesn't last long so once a day you can miss it. If you download the premom app they explain it pretty well. Mine rises and falls quickly I've caught in in the morning with my clearblue two months but last month I had my peak in the afternoon and I'd have missed it if I hadn't checked twice x

Sarahsarahsarah303030 · 09/11/2019 19:37

@Nic555 that's really reassuring, thank you. I think I have probably missed it for this month now, maybe it was this morning, but I will try testing twice a day. X

OP posts:
Nic555 · 09/11/2019 19:53

@Sarahsarahsarah303030 you're welcome. I'm so glad I checked twice last month otherwise I'd have worried I hadn't ovulated. I know I waste time worrying about silly things finally stop and then think of something else Xx

Sarahsarahsarah303030 · 09/11/2019 20:04

@Nic555 that's exactly like me. I was worried I hadn't ovulated. There has been a very faint second line and I know that you can get a positive for the LH surge going up and then another positive for it going down again. CD19 so very late again, doing my best not to worry about things, it wont help or change anything, but that's easier said than done! Xx

turquoisebaby · 09/11/2019 21:19

@sarahsarahsarah303030 Once the blood tests results are in at least your know one way or another what could be causing it/rule out things it isn't. With regards to OPK's I test with a digital opk in the morning and a internet cheapie in the evening in the hope of catching my peak. I wouldn't like to say whether you have missed your surge or not, I'm only now learning how to use these cheap opk's myself. CD 5 for me, just sitting and waiting for ovulation makes time go so slowly.

@Mrssendy welcome :) hopefully now you have stopped bf your cycles will sort themselves, what OPK's are you trying?

Mrssendy · 10/11/2019 16:20

Hi @Sarahsarahsarah303030 Thank you and yes hope we will all get lucky soon! FX

@turquoisebaby hiya! Thank you and I do hope so my cycle will go back to normal-ish. I've been using CB and OneStep. But I'm so rubbish at it!

Actually I'd like some advice ladies. So I've been trying to test ov with CB in the morning and OneStep in the afternoon and evening. I don't know if it was because I was still breastfeeding last month, but I never got a smiley or convincing positive OPKs! It was always faint. Even if I waited for 1 hour. Did I do anything wrong? How long do you wait until the OPKs shows positive? I did feel the ovulation symptoms though but just never got positive... Thanks! x

turquoisebaby · 11/11/2019 15:06

@Mrssendy I'm no expert as I'm only getting the hang of them myself. What CB's are you using? I used the pink to begin with but swapped to the purple ones as they give 4 days or more. I found getting the flashing smiley reassuring as i knew it was near and used the onesteps around lunch then evening to (not that it made a differnce, I had 2 days flashing followed by a static). With the onesteps the results were within a minute. I only had a faint line the day before, then the next day a proper positive. Before that they were all completely blank. It doesn't sound like your doing anything wrong, just unlucky. I know the feeling though, it was testing for 6 weeks before getting a positive.

Sarahsarahsarah303030 · 12/11/2019 08:19

I thought as long as you didn't use your first wee of the morning there wasn't much else to an opk? Hope i haven't been doing it wrong! I did manage to get a positive opk on CD20, which means it could be CD21 when I actually ovulate. Which is too late for a 28 day cycle 😩

I'm assuming my progesterone level on the blood tests is going to be low, seen as it should be tested a week after ovulation.

@han2291 how are you getting on? X

OP posts:
Fredthespider · 12/11/2019 10:22

I've been using the purple CB tests and they want you to use first urine. I've started spotting this morning which is CD 29, but it's only 10 DPO. I started spotting 2 days earlier last month so I'm taking that as a win (need to see some positive when AF is on it's way!)

crazychemist · 12/11/2019 13:03

Hello ladies, may I join please?

Ttc#2 for quite a while now. I use OPKs, and the earliest I’ve had a positive is day 18, so LP always ends up being less than 10 days. Many cycles I don’t get a positive at all, or one that I’m not sure of (dark, but not as dark as the control line). Have decided this month to spend money on Ovusense as that way hopefully I’ll be more certain of if I’m actually ovulating!

I take pregnacare conception, as does DP. Last cycle and this cycle I’ve been taking Agnus Castus up until ovulation, and I also take Vitamin C (had read it might help with short LP, and as you just wee out anything your body doesn’t use I couldn’t see the harm!). Might add a B Complex into the mix as well this month. In all fairness, my diet is currently completely pants, so Without the supplements I’d probably be deficient in all sorts of things!

What do you ladies count as day 1? I know it doesn’t make any difference when working out LP. Since having DD, I get bleeding that is fairly light but way more than just spots and definitely bright red for 2/3 days, then 2 days of no bleeding and then I get proper painful cramps and bleeding with lots of clots for 2/3 days. I’ve been counting the second onset of bleeding as day 1 and the earlier one as spotting, but I’m curious how others count it.

han2291 · 14/11/2019 00:31

@Sarahsarahsarah303030 AF came a day earlier than last month so no change 😔 I allowed myself a day to mope and be sad then picked myself up again ready for another month (though the next day I found out another friend of mine is pregnant and that stung a little, but of course I was happy for her).

DH is away on a business trip for a good chunk of this month so I'm not going to bother with the OPKs or anything, just DTD when we can. We're hosting a big family Christmas at our place this year so that's going to keep me busy for a while.

I've decided if we aren't pregnant by January/my LP doesn't get any longer I'll go to see my doctor for some advice.. we'll only have been trying for 5/6 months by then but for the sake of my sanity I either need to be told it's fine just keep trying OR look into whatever is going on and figure it out.
Phew. Sorry longest update ever ☺️

How are you? X

Sarahsarahsarah303030 · 14/11/2019 08:16

@han2291 I'm sorry to hear that, we definitely deserve a day to mope though.
There seems to be people announcing pregnancies all over the place now, not sure if I'm just more sensitive to it!

It doesnt do any harm to see a doctor, even for some reassurance. I know stress plays a massive part but it's not that easy to stop the worrying.

I'm ok, should know either way this time next week. Feel like I'm spending my days waiting...for ovulation and then for AF!! Christmas will be a good distraction. Xx

OP posts:
han2291 · 14/11/2019 12:24

@Sarahsarahsarah303030 agreed! I think it's good to acknowledge every felling and emotion during this whole TTC journey, good or bad. I'd love some good feelings though haha.

It will be, can't wait for Christmas! I'm hoping you get some good news back from your doctor ☺️ what exactly did they test, if you don't mind me asking? It would give me a good idea of things to potentially ask my doctor to look into x

Sarahsarahsarah303030 · 15/11/2019 12:09

@han2291 I'm ready for some good feelings too!
My doctor did full bloods (thyroid, liver, kidney, iron, cholesterol etc etc.) But the main one was a Day 21 progesterone test. Assuming you ovulate on day 14 then on day 21 progesterone should be at a certain level. I have had my results and surprise surprise the progesterone level is too low to indicate ovulation. I have been back this morning to repeat the test, as I think I am ovulating but only around day 20/21 and today is day 25. Will see what comes back from this. 🤷🏻‍♀️ xx

OP posts:
han2291 · 19/11/2019 06:40

@Sarahsarahsarah303030 blimey that's a lot of blood drawn. I had read about the progesterone tests.. so you'd go for the test a week after ovulation right? Good that you have an answer now and know for sure, but hopefully you miss timed it and the second test will show higher levels!

My attempt at relaxing and not thinking about TTC this month has been successful so far (I wasn't even sure what CD I was, that's a good sign haha) but even though my husband is away I'll probably do a few OPKS just to see if it's any earlier again, I figure it won't stress me out because I won't be thinking when we should DTD since he isn't here!

turquoisebaby · 20/11/2019 16:13

I'm so excited! I ovulated on CD 12 instead of my usual cd23!!!!! I need to rein myself in and not get so carried away. Now to wait. Anyone else in the TWW?

han2291 · 20/11/2019 23:46

@turquoisebaby that's so exciting!!! 😄 allow yourself to be excited! Did you do anything differently this month? Share your magic!!!

VenusTiger · 21/11/2019 01:18

Hi @Sarahsarahsarah303030 sorry if I’ve misread, but make sure you’re having the first bloods taken between cycle days 2 and 5 and the ‘day 21’ bloods taken within 7 days of the last day of your cycle.

@han2291 they take a small vial on both tests - it takes about one minute, it’s really not a lot - size of average thumb.

han2291 · 21/11/2019 07:13

@VenusTiger of course, they wouldn't take buckets full, we need that stuff 😄

Sarahsarahsarah303030 · 21/11/2019 07:59

@VenusTiger they did all the bloods in the same day, which was day 21 of my cycle. This is to check that progesterone has raised, showing ovulation. When they redid my test on day 25 I got the raised result, showing that i had ovulated.
They took about 5 vials from me, but they were doing full bloods so needed a bit more! 😁

@han2291 The only things I changed was I started a Vit B complex, high dose vitamin C and my regular prenatal vitamin. However, my excitment is shortlived, I'm so confused.

So I'm CD17 and 5DPO on a whim I decided to do another OPK and it came back positive, so I did a cheapie pregnancy test blazing positive. Ran to Asda and got a CB Digital and it's saying 2-3 weeks. I had a MMC at the end of August and I have had a negative result since then to comfirm end of miscarriage. How can I possible be pregnant? Any idea whats happening to me? I'm a bit sceptical of it and don't want to trust the result.
