Hi. We have been TTC baby number 2 for 5 months now. My cycle was a bit all over the place at first but I have noticed I ovulate late recently (positive opk days 19/20) but my cycle is only 29 days usually, and was 27 this month. Im concerned that there isnt the time after ovulation for implantation and asked my GP but they didnt seem to get what I was worried about. Google seems to point to low progesterone and wondered if anyone else had similar and had any advice? Thanks x

@han2291😩 sorry to hear that.
This is my 6th month off the pill, I was told that it can take up to 12 months for your cycles to get back to normal, but that it won't affect your chances of getting pregnant. It's hard not to be disappointed though and sit back and wait. Xx

@catsandkid good luck! The waiting is hard, looking out for any signs of good news!!
@Frazzled2207 I found my GP was dismissive too, I actually don't think she understood what i was saying. She just kept telling me that it can take a year or 2 without any problems. I hadnt even thought about anything like thyroid affecting it, definitely something to keep in mind. Would definitely give anything like reflexology a try, even if its just for the benefit of relaxation!

I'm wondering whether to start taking vitamin b complex or Agnus castus too. I ovulate early CD11/12 but I have a short cycle and always spot 3-5 days before. This month spotting started CD21 and my cycle was only 23 days. TTC#1 for 5 months this cycle.
I already have a b12 and b9 (folic acid) deficiency which I get injections and tablets for so maybe it's related and I am deficient in others. I am not vegetarian and eat everything on the food list for b complex, I think I'm just not absorbing it maybe?
It's hard not to look into things so much when you want to just fix it and make it happen!

han2291 · 13/10/2019 13:57

@Sarahsarahsarah303030 12 months seems like years and years when you want this so much 😔 hoping for the both of us that it doesn't take that long.

@Makeafamily19 it's definitely hard to think about all of the possibilities and how you can potentially fix them, keep us updated! So glad to be able to discuss any concerns with you ladies, feel like my husband just doesn't really get it.

Sarahsarahsarah303030 · 13/10/2019 18:36

@han2291 I agree, it really does help to be able to speak to you all. Feel like I am doing everything I can.....no alcohol, no caffeine, vitamins, opk.....and my partner is very relaxed about it all, it will happen when it happens!! Wish I could be more like that rather than worrying!!

OP posts:
han2291 · 14/10/2019 00:53

@Sarahsarahsarah303030 me too! I'm a planner and a control freak so "letting it happen" is not easy 😂 we're currently living abroad and have both sets of parents coming to spend Christmas with us, so I think I'm adding pressure to myself because we'd love to be able to tell them in person that we're pregnant.. we'll see what this next cycle brings 🤞🏼

Sarahsarahsarah303030 · 22/10/2019 10:38

@han2291 no luck this cycle for me I'm afraid. Feeling really disappointed this time, it doesn't get any easier. 😢

han2291 · 22/10/2019 12:12

@Sarahsarahsarah303030 I'm sorry hun 😞 take extra care of yourself these next few days and give yourself lots of love. Do you know which day was O? X

Sarahsarahsarah303030 · 22/10/2019 15:16

@han2291 I got a positive opk on day 18, but that was it. I usually get a positive for 2 days. And it was another 27 day cycle. Think it might be worth going to see my GP for some advice/reassurance? 🤞

OP posts:
han2291 · 23/10/2019 07:32

@Sarahsarahsarah303030 that was the same for me last cycle, day 18 out of 27 😞 a GP visit might be a good idea.. whether they're able to try XYZ, run some tests or tell you everything is ok all of those things will make you feel better than doing nothing. If you do go let us know how you get on x

Sarahsarahsarah303030 · 24/10/2019 11:44

Has anyone taken agnus cactus? I have got some after seeing them recommended a few times, but when they have arrived they say not to take if you are TTC, so I'm confused now!

Nic555 · 24/10/2019 13:38

@Sarahsarahsarah303030 I haven't sorry. I read it helps you ovulate earlier but if you're already ovulating it can mess up cycles. I think u may use it up to ovulation then stop?

I've seen a progesterone cream that's meant to extend luteal phase but everything I read also has negatives attached x

Sarahsarahsarah303030 · 24/10/2019 14:49

@nic555 I have heard mixed reviews for most things! I think I might leave the agnus castus for now, see how I get on. Dont really want to mess up my cycle when its usually quite regular, just wish my LP was longer! X

han2291 · 29/10/2019 13:35

Hi @Sarahsarahsarah303030 how are you doing? I got my positive OPK today, CD16, so one day earlier than last month but I'll still ovulate too late 😔 we'll still give it a good shot but I'm not hopeful again.

Sarahsarahsarah303030 · 29/10/2019 13:55

Hi @han2291 I'm ok thanks, I went to my GP and they have agreed to run some blood tests, including a day 21 progesterone test. She did say I am probably overthinking it all but would try some tests to reassure me.
I'm having reflexology later too, see if I can try and sort some of these hormones out. Feel like I'm very tearful lately, although I have always been very emotional!! 😂
When we were trying for my 1st, I always got a positive opk on day 16, they say anything upto day 20 is considered 'normal' .
Good Luck for this month, ovulating earlier is a great sign. Let us know how you are getting on! Xxx

Just wanted to post to say that you're not alone in TTC with a short LP. I've been ovulating around CD18/19 with a 28 day cycle. I've been trying to work out how I'd know if it's fixing itself, would I ovulate earlier, or would AF come later?? I got my positive OPK yesterday on CD18 and I already feel like I've ruled this month out because it's so late.

han2291 · 02/11/2019 12:17

@Sarahsarahsarah303030 that's good, so great that your GP was willing to listen and do something to help you feel better about it!
OF COURSE we over think these things 😂 what woman doesn't?! Reflexology sounds like an amazing idea, even if just for the relaxation for an hour or so.
I really hope that's the case.. last month my cycle was 26 1/2 days (yes, I'm counting half 😬 I had very light bleeding starting around 5pm on CD27) so I'm really hoping this one is a bit longer, but of course rather AF doesn't come at all.

@Fredthespider thanks for sharing your journey so far, it definitely helps to speak to others going through this. Try to stay positive, hopefully your cycle might just be longer this month. How long have you been TTC if you don't mind me asking?

Fredthespider · 02/11/2019 16:35

@han2291 we’ve been ‘trying’ since May, but I’ve been breastfeeding so I think it was in June I got my first positive OPK so maybe on cycle 5 now? Pretty confident that the breastfeeding is causing the short LP but I’ve been reducing over the months so we’re down to just once a day now and hoping that will sort it. It’s a tough choice between keeping the bond with number 1 and wanting to be pregnant with number 2.

Sarahsarahsarah303030 · 02/11/2019 20:55

It's good to be able to speak to others that are feeling the same, its not something i have discussed with friends/family, I don't want the extra pressure of others knowing we are TTC.
Fingers crossed for everyone, I'm on CD12 now and will probably start OPK on CD14, on the off chance that I ovulate a bit earlier 🤞

Hopefully my blood tests will reassure me a little. Think I need to take the pressure off myself!
@Fredthespider I hope your cycle returns to normal soon for you, how old is number 1? Its crazy what these hormones do!!

OP posts:
Fredthespider · 03/11/2019 20:17

@Sarahsarahsarah303030 fingers crossed for a positive OPK for you soon! Number 1 is 9 months now, we never wanted a big gap and she's lulled us into a false sense of security by being so awesome that we'll no doubt have a demon second child.

Evening Ladies,
I am TTC #2, I ovulate between CD21 and CD23 of a 29 day cycle. I had a MMC at 16 weeks at the end of August and am expecting af tomorrow CD9, although not 100% sure as my body is all over the place with bleeding when it feels like it. Our MMC took over a year to concieve so I'm desperate to lengthen my LP. What Vit B complex should I take?

han2291 · 05/11/2019 05:07

@turquoisebaby so sorry you went through that 🙁 as to what vitamin B complex I'm not sure.. do you take any vitamins currently from a brand you like? iHerb have a huge assortment of brands ☺️

Sarahsarahsarah303030 · 05/11/2019 07:29

@turquoisebaby so sorry to hear that, that must have been so hard for you.
I am taking a vitamin b complex from Boots, as well as a TTC vitamin. I checked with my GP that they were ok to take together. Xx

OP posts:
turquoisebaby · 06/11/2019 11:16

I'm glad you checked with GP, i was a bit worried as I'm also using a TTC vitamin. I grabbed some vit b complex from holland and barretts for the time being, but will have a nose at iherbs! I've been reading that a high dose of vitamin C is good for extending LP to, do any of you ladies take this to?

Sarahsarahsarah303030 · 08/11/2019 16:25

@turquoisebaby I have also heard about vitamin C, it's not something I take at the minute but cant see it doing any harm. I am having my blood tests on monday so once the results of those are back i will look again at vitamins etc , depending what they say!
