@ValidUser - wish I liked exercise Grin I only really enjoy wii just dance, or yoga. Prefer Cake

ValidUser · 07/02/2020 21:07

@starkid it's selective with me! I hate anything that requires coordination. Flailing? I can do that.

PineappleC · 11/02/2020 14:09

@starkid aww nice to have a holiday to look forward to 😊 We are trying to find some decent winter sun that doesn't have a zika risk, it's harder than I thought!

@ValidUser yes running is my stress relief too! I'm just doing fast walking now, and hope thatll keep me sane!

I'm now on my injections (scan yesterday showed that down-reg worked fine). The nurse did it yesterday so tonight will be my first solo go! 🤞🤞

starkid · 12/02/2020 12:31

Sorry feel like i'm spamming the thread at the mo as it's a bit quiet.

I had my specialist fertility appointment. DH's sperm test results were all good except morphology was 1% in his first test and 2% in the second, so minimal-mild issue he said. I seemed fine from tests/scans except he arranged for me to have a blood test for CA125(?) to check the cyst on my left ovary isn't anything to worry about. And apart from that, he's concerned about external adhesion's from previous surgeries causing havoc. If not, unexplained infertility.

So all being well from that blood test for the cyst (results in 2 weeks),we're being referred for the IVF eligibility appointment, which he's already said we'll pass Smile Not a clue what the wait times are, but there we go - on the IVF train now!

starkid · 12/02/2020 14:15

@PineappleC - how did you go with the injections? to be honest that part is really freaking me out, I can't look at or think about injections at all and that's with having daily blood tests for 5 weeks before...!

FlapJackered · 12/02/2020 16:18

@starkid I found the injections totally fine and I am really squeamish about blood tests, they are so much easier than a blood test.
That is great everything is moving ahead for you! Very exciting!!

Good luck @PineappleC !!! 🤞🤞 I hope you're getting on ok with the injections.

PineappleC · 12/02/2020 18:38

@starkid Honestly? They're absolutely fine! I've done 3 so far and the only one that hurt a bit was the first one which the nurse did! I have hardly felt the ones I've given myself. I've done them in my thighs rather than stomach, so please don't worry about the injections 😊

@Flapjackered Thank you! I feel like my patience has been really tested but I finally feel like we are actually doing something now. Hopefully it works 🤞 How are things with you? Any symptoms yet?! Xx

starkid · 12/02/2020 19:23

@PineappleC - ooh thighs are a good shout, think I'd find that easier than stomach (not just because of my ostomy bag...!). Well done on getting on with them so well :)

PineappleC · 12/02/2020 21:55

@starkid oh wow, I can't imagine what that's like for you but definitely sounds better to go for the thighs in that case! I'm only 3 days in, and expect I'll start feeling some side effects soon, but so far so good👍 I'm sure yours will be totally fine too 😊

starkid · 13/02/2020 16:45

The news keeps on coming (sorry I keep venting on here, I tell some people in real life too but you guys are all well versed in all this terminology as we're all going through similar experiences).

So yesterday after the consultation he had me do a blood test for CA125 to check the cyst on my ovary isn't anything sinister before i'm referred for IVF. I can see the results on my GP's portal and it says the result is abnormal, and throws the word cancer in there.

Looking online, raised amounts of CA125 point towards a few things, most relevant to me ovarian cancer, fibroids or pregnancy. I do have a fibroid, so if it's definitely from that then fine. If not there's the 2 others which would cause differing types of extreme emotions!

So now to wait and see what the next step would be for that, if they'd do another scan or another test to confirm what this abnormal result definitely points towards. Fingers crossed for the boring or very happy result Confused

Oh and another couple in DH's friendship group is pregnant I just found out, so along with this and yesterday i'm feeling fairly shit Sad

RosettaR · 14/02/2020 18:10

@PineappleC I'm glad you are finding the injections OK, it's exciting that you're at that stage already!

@starkid if fibroids can cause it to be raised and you have a fibroid, then please don't worry about what else it could be! Do you have an appointment or can you ask to speak to the doctor on the phone? Also, are you going to do a pregnancy test just in case? It would be amazing to get a surprise bfp!

I am also feeling shit, similar situation to @starkid, we found out a few weeks ago that my husband's school friend and his wife were expecting. Then yesterday I got home and opened some post and it was a little card with pictures of their new baby saying "I can't wait to meet you". It looked like a wedding invitation. I cried a lot and also felt angry. Do people really have so little idea that not everyone is as lucky as they are and the impact that could have on someone who was struggling? We're not even that close to them!

Generally I've been staying off here a bit because I've been in an anxious state waiting for the tests (still not convinced I really need them and think I maybe talked myself into them unnecessarily which makes me feel terrible). I'm also really worried how long the results will take, and the fact that I have literally no control over this, but now the clinic will not do ivf until I get the all clear!

starkid · 14/02/2020 18:37

@RosettaR - I'm due tomorrow or Sunday so won't be long to wait to find out if pregnant (I doubt it though, I had my usual pre-period jitteriness today). I spoke to the consultants secretary and she said as it's only a bit over the normal range she wouldn't worry and that he will send me a letter detailing his thoughts/what comes next in the next week or so (likely when I'm on holiday!).
Hoping, like with your tests, it won't be something that will lead to more waiting for the IVF referral...

Sorry to hear you got that through the post, that's a bit over the top isn't it! At least going through this can make us all more considerate of others when the time comes xx

RosettaR · 14/02/2020 20:50

@starkid I'm due Monday so we're almost in sync! At least we can wait together i guess.

RosettaR · 18/02/2020 16:44

How is everyone today?

How are you @PineappleC? Any side effects yet or are you sailing through it? When is your first scan?

Did af arrive @starkid? It did for me, right on schedule.

Spent this morning googling hay fever and ivf, as I may now end up having ivf in June when my hay fever is really bad. I need to step away from Google, basically no one knows if it makes any difference. I plan to go ahead with ivf as soon as no can, even if that means hay fever season!

starkid · 18/02/2020 16:47

@RosettaR - If no one is sure if it hayfever affects IVF and they don't seem to have any worries, I would go through with it in June personally :)

AF was also bang on time for me, Sunday! So Cycle 21. Think I'm going to skip the opks this month as i'll likely be on holiday during fertile week, so will try just ignoring it and see how it goes... not my favourite idea as I like to have a good idea of when AF is going to be, but we'll see how it goes :)

RosettaR · 18/02/2020 16:59

@starkid I'm not counting cycles any more, it got too depressing once I got to 14! I'm exactly the same with opks, I only really do them so I know when af is coming and can be mentally prepared!

PineappleC · 18/02/2020 22:23

@RosettaR thanks for asking after me 😊 Things are going okay thanks. I'm on day 9 of stims in my IVF cycle. My first scan showed that I had good lining and a good number of follicles, but they're slow growing, so they've now doubled my dose. I'm hoping tomorrow's scan will show some improvements 🤞

Its much easier than expected so far, no real symptoms for me, so hopefully won't be as daunting as you might be imagining when you come to do yours 😊 I think I could probably handle hayfever alongside mine at the moment (Although never a great time to get hayfever!) so hopefully that won't cause too much extra discomfort for you 😊

FlapJackered · 19/02/2020 07:16

@PineappleC that's great it's all going well and you're not finding the stims too bad!
I had slow growing eggs too so don't worry, they will catch up!
Good luck! I will keep fingers crossed for you!! 🤞🤞🤞

@RosettaR it is hard not to fall down the google rabbit hole but I doubt hayfever makes a difference or no hayfever sufferers would get pregnant in summer. I think anti-histamines are not great so maybe you will have to stay indoors a bit more while going through the process!

PineappleC · 19/02/2020 09:58

Thanks @Flapjackered 😊 How are things going for you? How nany weeks are you?

This morning's scan was frustrating. I now have 18 follicles but only 4 seem to be catching, there's 14 still just below 10mm. They've upped my meds again but egg collection will now be Monday at the earliest. Really disappointed as feeling now like we may not get any good ones at all!! Damn hormones!!

FlapJackered · 19/02/2020 21:38

@PineappleC I know it is really hard but try not to worry about the numbers at this stage, they can change so quickly and it wasn't long ago they upped your meds. Also some ladies on the ivf thread I was on had 16+ eggs but only got one ok embryo, I had 6 and had 3 good quality embryos. It is a really tough time getting told all the numbers and not being able to forecast what will happen so I totally understand the frustration!

I am 7 weeks on Friday and have my scan then! 😬 🤞

RosettaR · 20/02/2020 07:41

@PineappleC I'm sorry you're worried and sending hugs, the whole thing must be an emotional roller coaster. From too much lurking on ivf threads, I can agree with @FlapJackered that the numbers don't seem to mean much in the long run and plenty of women with low numbers get pregnant. It's a waiting game as much as anything.

@FlapJackered that's flown by, can't believe your scan is tomorrow! Will you tell people after that or wait until 12 weeks?

starkid · 20/02/2020 09:10

@PineappleC - fingers crossed it all works out/the meds kick in the next day or two to make you feel more confident with the next step! xx

ValidUser · 20/02/2020 11:55

Hello all! Provisional egg collection date the 13th of April.

How is everyone?

PineappleC · 20/02/2020 12:11

Thanks so much everyone for being so nice to me 😊

@Flapjackered you're absolutely right, I'd forgotten about that, and totally agree it's quality over quantity. It does seem like the more eggs gathered the less % made it for many ppl.

I can't believe you're 7 weeks already. That's gone so quick!! I'm really pleased everything's going so well for you and hope the scan is good and nicely reassuring 😊

@RosettaR you're totally right it is a waiting. I'm trying not to read too much into it. I was always prepared for IVF not working, but guess I never realised that (possibly) not getting eggs was a thing!

Next scan is tomorrow morning anyway, and that'll be after 4 days of increased meds, so hopefully I'll have something to show for it 🤞🤞🤞

starkid · 20/02/2020 13:07

@ValidUser woo good luck!! Smile
