Hi can anyone recommend good OPKS? I'm thinking of going for a fertility monitor rather than sticks? Can anyone advise? Thinking of just calling things down until after Christmas - enjoy Christmas 🍷🍷🍷 and then when starting to really get to grips with tracking ovulation. ANOTHER AF for me - 19 days cycle which is really unheard of for me - got no idea what that's about maybe my body settling back down after starting medication for my newly diagnosed underactive thyroid. Had repeat bloods and a receptionist phone me to say that things were looking ok whatever that means and to stay on the same dose booked an appointment to chat further about this with the GP on the 9th of December can anyone advise me of what questions to ask and what results to push for as after reading some of the things on here I'm wondering if I should be getting my progesterone levels checked? Any advice greatly appreciated as I am trying very hard not to get down about this but it is hard very very hard

queenqueenqueen · 27/11/2019 12:24

I'm sorry that made no sense was typing in a rush at work 🙈

MotherOfShihTzus · 27/11/2019 12:53

Hello ladies - sorry for the radio silence! Currently renovating a house and living with my sister - so it's all a bit crazy.

How is everyone getting on? I see a few are at similar stages, with referrals to specialists so that's positive news.

I had all results and now in a 10-12 week wait for fertility referral; 'unexplained infertility'. Been having weekly acupuncture which I'm really happy with, feeling more relaxed.

And where I've been devastated the past weeks as I had my first ever squinters and latest ever period - likely a chemical pregnancy, I'm trying to see it as a positing that's something happened.

Hope everyone is well x

RosettaR · 27/11/2019 18:04

I have started spotting today, quite a lot all in one go. More than usual for cd 24 so I guess af is coming early.

@MotherOfShihTzus welcome back and I'm sorry to hear about your chemical. You sound like you have a lot to take your mind off ttc at the moment which can only be a goos thing! I love the idea of home renovations but in practice I'm super lazy and never want to do anything...

ValidUser · 27/11/2019 21:59

On my last follicle tracking cycle. Trigger tomorrow.

I got my pre ivf smear and chlamydia swab today. I need to lose 10kg but I'll manage that easily. Got into a comfort eating habit in recent months!

Got blood sent off to confirm antiphospholipid syndrome so we'll see what shows up.

Filling out the paperwork now and our first appointment will be late January. Pleased to have a plan.

starkid · 28/11/2019 07:42

@ValidUser glad you've got a plan all set up now Smile

Lina365 · 28/11/2019 11:39

@RosettaR Sorry about the spotting - but I have to say, I've read so many stories of women who have spotting, and a lot of them have their usual premenstrual spotting in their bfp cycles. Some don't, but even so, it's good to know that it's not necessarily game over, right?

RosettaR · 28/11/2019 13:24

@Lina365 yes it does seem to be that way and that's always what I'm secretly hoping. But for me it was game over, af is now undeniably here. So I am moving forward with the operation next week and then ivf, hopefully starting the drugs either in January or February.

FlapJackered · 28/11/2019 18:01

@ValidUser that is great news that the ball is rolling on the ivf!

@MotherOfShihTzus welcome back! Sorry to hear about your chemicals, not fun, but as you say try and see it as a sign you can get pregnant. My sister had the same and they ended up putting her on blood thinners which seemed to do the trick!

@queenqueenqueen sorry to hear about AF. It doesn't seem to get any easier does it. Have you had your day 3 and day 21 blood tests yet? The GP will probably suggest them which measures your hormones at the right time of the month and if you have ovulated.
I rate Clear Blue Advanced ovulation test, the one with the flashing smiley face. Get the one with 20 sticks. It is expensive but normally does last 3 cycles.

@Mrs71 yes good call on going NHS first. Hopefully it won't take too long to get going. 🤞🏻

@Broodyaf how are you getting on lovely?

FlapJackered · 28/11/2019 18:06

I had my consultation with ABC yesterday.
It was actually really good and I feel very reassured. It's the first consultation I have had that I haven't felt rushed out of the door. She did a scan and said everything looks good!
She showed me all the follicles and the sac where the egg was that I ovulated this cycle which was v interesting! Only trouble is i ovulated from my right which is my slightly dodgy tube which is frustrating as this is the last cycle before we dish out the dosh for it.

So I am all good to go for January! Which is very exciting! I just have to try and put on 4 kg by then which I just don't know how I am going to manage it. That is a lot to put on in a month no? Anyone have any ideas of foods to eat that will help bulk up but that are healthy? Hopefully Christmas will help a bit!

starkid · 28/11/2019 18:46

@FlapJackered - all sounds good to hear! When I needed to gain weight, I started having banana, full-fat greek yoghurt and peanut butter smoothies :)

RosettaR · 29/11/2019 08:06

@FlapJackered I have similar issues with weight, I just can't seem to put it on! Particularly as everyone says not to have too much sugar while ttc to keep your blood sugar stable - pretty much the only reliable way to gain weight I have found is Cadburys! When I was seeing a dietician she told me to eat plenty of nuts and cheese. Healthy fats are apparently important for egg health as well, so there's also extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil, avocados ...

ValidUser · 29/11/2019 09:20

@FlapJackered I have the opposite problem! I gained weight on the hormones (due to overeating, not magic) but I was always inclined to overdo healthier food rather than other stuff.

Smoothies with nuts/avocado can be a good way to get extra energy in. Nut butter in porridge. Higher carb fruit like banana. Oil based salad dressings.

FlapJackered · 29/11/2019 22:20

Thanks @ValidUser @RosettaR @starkid good tips! I think I am just going to try and make a super high calorie smoothie with all the things you've mentioned and hope that works 🙈

Urgh I have started spotting, only 9dpo which is really annoying as I never used to spot before AF, it has been since the op. 👎🏻

starkid · 30/11/2019 12:35

Just a quick one, I got the actual results from my HSG and progesterone 21 day blood test through this morning:
HSG- all normal (endometrial cavity, tubes have normal contour, dye spill observed through both sides).
Progesterone levels on day 21 was 53 nmol/L, with >30 confirming ovulation.

So guess there's nothing else to question from the point of view of those 2 tests, which is good to hear! Have to wait til specialist appointment to hear about DH but presuming his 2nd SA was fine too, as not heard anything.

RosettaR · 01/12/2019 22:30

@starkid that's great it all looks normal and congratulations on the progesterone, that is high!

@FlapJackered good luck with the smoothie. We should have weekly weigh-ins or something! So far my progress is minimal, I've stayed exactly where I was despite a lot of nuts and oil.

I'm feeling pretty low, I just can't believe we're sixteen months into ttc and I don't know where the time went. I tried to start ivf in October and because of the polyp progress has been glacial.

FlapJackered · 04/12/2019 09:44

👎🏻 Af arrived on Monday so there is one more cycle before ivf, just paid the deposit and it is starting to feel really real! Crying a little bit at the thought of all that money disappearing from our savings account but it is exciting too. It just feels like we are playing a really expensive lottery. 😬

@RosettaR sorry you're feeling low at the moment. It just seems to go on and on doesn't it. Very frustrating. When is your op?
Hopefully it will all go quickly for you and you will be on to ivf before you know it.
I think I have put on a bit since being ill, I feel like I am eating all the time 😂

@starkid that's great to hear it all came back ok, have you got an appointment to discuss the next steps?

starkid · 04/12/2019 09:56

@RosettaR - it really does fly by doesn't it, feel like the last 17 months barely happened. Sorry to hear things have been delayed, really kicks you in the teeth when things have taken so long already

@FlapJackered - sorry about AF- expensive lottery indeed, but fingers crossed all works out for you :)
I'm still waiting for an appointment letter through from the specialist I've been referred to, to talk through the results fully and yeah discuss next steps... already harassed them a week ago so feel I can't harass them again quite yet!

Am CD14 so likely in fertile week at the mo... Didn't get a positive opk last cycle so am hoping for one in the next couple of days, as I like at least feeling like I have a grasp on things when I don't on anything else to do with this!

zoomies1 · 04/12/2019 14:32

Hi All,
Sorry for disappearing, life has been busy.

I'm at home today following a GA and hysteroscopy yesterday. The consultant said she saw some really thin, filmy, tissue growing in my uterus. She has removed it and sent it to the path lab. So we'll see.

I have now had all my blood tests done which I was told were normal but when I looked them up, it looked like my FSH was too high so of course upset myself and have decided to wait for the experts to talk to me. Follow up on 31st Dec so it could be an interesting start to the New Year!

DH SA results come back tomorrow - He has hav a phon eappointmet - I guess that's good right? If it was bad, they would want to see him face to face??

@KatBeCool thanks for the additional info - wen I got pregnant the first time I was doing a lot more exercise, including yoga but I am finding it really hard to motivate myself since the MMC. I have put on about half a stone that I 'can't' lose now.

2-3 month wait for referral now.......

@starkid glad the results came back ok!

@RosettaR I know what you mean, I'm on 13 months now and I feel really stuck and frustrated.

zoomies1 · 04/12/2019 14:34

Sorry for the typo's can I blame the general anaesthetic?

ValidUser · 04/12/2019 20:10

Hello everyone! Confirmed antiphospholipid syndrome today. Will be on innohep for my full ivf cycle. It's actually a relief in a way!

We have a reason for my chemical pregnancies and a way to make ivf work.

zoomies1 · 05/12/2019 09:17

@ValidUser

I really hope that's it for you now and everything runs smoothly.

starkid · 05/12/2019 14:51

@ValidUser - glad you now know the score, and have everything in place for the next step xx
@zoomies1 - good luck with your results from the lab!

Finally getting something close to a positive opk, was worried would be another cycle without a positive and therefore not knowing when to expect AF.

KatBeCool · 05/12/2019 20:57

CD13, got positive OPK. All the hopes are up as usual.

@starkid catch up! We can be twins again.

How's everyone doing?

starkid · 05/12/2019 21:13

@KatBeCool - I think it was a positive one earlier on. The last one wasn't positive though. Will test again tomorrow but am saying a positive today for now. Hooray for ovulation twins Grin
