Great to hear your good news @Cleozeta 💐

rubyroot · 13/10/2019 22:11

I think @Rose68 didn't mean that seriously. Thanks for the good wishes everyone x

Realitysucks · 14/10/2019 12:17

Hi ladies,

Just come from 12 week scan. All looks fine, except they refused to do screening as I had already had the NIPT so apparently they don’t do screening if you’ve had it as it is more accurate. I’m not really sure how I feel about that to be honest but she didn’t really give me a choice. Apparently I’m also actually 13 weeks according to measurements so due date brought forward to 20th April 2020 now!

Chatbash72 · 14/10/2019 12:42

Fab news of the lining @Russkispy and great scan news @Realitysucks 💕💕💕

Cleozeta · 14/10/2019 16:03

Great news reality! I wonder if you want the screening it's best not to mention that you've had NIPT?.... I must admit I had been wondering the other day if they would still do it

rubyroot · 14/10/2019 16:10

Congrats @Realitysucks. My midwife thought that may be the case as I had already had the screening too. However, they do to the screening on my area. I decided not to do it, I know so many people who have had high risk because of their age and it has caused unnecessary anxiety and then had to have the nipt for reassurance. Therefore, I couldn't see the point of doing it the other way around! I did however, ask if they'd measure the nuchal as mine was 5.8mm before my termination last year. They said this was not usually something they did on its own, they looked at it and said it looked 'lovely' but couldn't measure it as baby was morning so much and in a funny position.

I was happy with that. I'm sure if your nuchal was excessive they'd have to say something anyway and the nipt is far far more accurate than the NHS screening. I would think no more if it.

Realitysucks · 14/10/2019 17:06

Thanks ladies @Cleozeta yes if you want it don’t say you’ve had NIPT.

@rubyroot I see what you are saying, I felt like it was another safety net if it was fine. But as you say, I’ve also read of people who had negative NIPT then thick Nuchal and have been really stressed and ended up having an amino. That would be me. She was very reassuring and said that even if it was thick they would only send you for NIPT which I’ve already had and is more accurate anyway so it was best to go with NIPT results. I felt like I was being fobbed off a bit as it was clear bubs wasn’t playing and not in a great position for her to measure anyway.

Anyway I’m going with it’s all ok 😬 here is a littler pic ! Plus she could tell sex as he was stood to attention 🤣🤣🤣🤣 which she said is very rare at this stage !

Your nuchal looks tiny. Think of it this way, what would you have done if it came back 1 in 80 (average for a 40 year old) because of your age. It would have just created unnecessary anxiety! And you couldn't get a nipt for reassurance, as you have already had that.
I had a very poorly baby at 13 weeks, fluid all around it including 5.8mm nuchal. It was later diagnosed as t21 through cvs. If I can do this, you can too. I'm assuming you also had scan with nipt? They look for other indicators and they can tell so much from the scan too. In fact my consuktant told me she was sure my results would come back as low risk. I would just relax. You don't need the triple scan as it is only 70 percent accurate compared to the nipt which is 99 percent. Relax and enjoy your pregnancy.

Realitysucks · 14/10/2019 17:56

@rubyroot I know you’re right and yes it would just cause more anxiety so hence why I didn’t push for it. I don’t know how you got through it to be honest. I wouldn’t even know where to look I thought it was the black bit and then worried it was too big. Trying to relax now and enjoy it!

rubyroot · 14/10/2019 18:05

I'm just a googler, not a sonographer obvs. With my first pregnancy I looked at the scan and said oh great you can see it's nasal bone. Midwife was like Hmm you know your stuff. Grin here's one with a 1.5mm translucency which is way below the 3.5 cut off

PetraRabbit · 14/10/2019 23:06

Hi Reality! If this helps, with both of my successful pregnancies I had the NIPT and refused the nuchal screening and blood tests as they are less accurate so there is no point, for all the reasons given above. I don't think you need to worry. I mean it in the nicest way too when I say it's also an unecessary use of NHS resource to have a lot of testing done when you've already got a low risk result. By the way, I know three couples who "passed" the NHS tests as low risk and went on to have unexpected DS babies diagnosed at birth- obviously a shock they weren't prepared for- so I wouldn't find a low risk result reassuring anyway. I'm glad all is going well for you!

Inks42 · 16/10/2019 00:59

We're still TYC as well.
OH had a relapse of his slipped disc and could barely walk for all of September. So we only got back to it this cycle. I'm 12 days past ovulation, fingers crossed.

Inks42 · 16/10/2019 00:59

TTC even

Springroll89 · 16/10/2019 06:04

Hi do you mind if I join? I've been reading this thread for a while and have found it heartening to see other over 40s trying for a baby. We've been TTC since last November without a single positive in all that time (and what feels like everyone I know getting pregnant!), but just got BFP a few days ago. I've now changed to worrying if the line is getting darker quickly enough... But in response to Beckymum it can happen even after months of nothing. Xx

KristieP2018 · 16/10/2019 08:14

Still trying here too @beckymum

KediKat · 16/10/2019 11:26

@beckymum I got BFN this month, I am very disappointed as I had more symptoms than before and had felt hopeful. 😢

Chatbash72 · 16/10/2019 18:52

@KediKat I think I'm teetering on the edge of af..
welcome @Springroll89 and congratulations xx

minime2017 · 16/10/2019 19:26

Im still here too and have been from the original thread. All the recent bfps are keeping me optimistic at 42.
