Great news russkispy! Fingers crossed.

Reality - so far so good. 6+1 today so very much in the dangerzone. Not counting my chickens yet.
How about you?

Realitysucks · 29/09/2019 08:46

@Cleozeta just keep cooking, 1 day at a time x Im 10 weeks today. All seems ok, scan on Wednesday and harmony test so dreading it to be honest. This pregnancy is so different to my first. Hardly any sickness, but way more tiredness and bloating !

Cleozeta · 29/09/2019 09:54

Fingers crossed for you reality. Every pregnancy is different. You have come a long way, so chances are good for you!

Geegrl19 · 29/09/2019 12:34

Hi Ladies, just wanted to post to share with you all that all is not lost over 40! I did have a bit of a lurk on the thread last year but never posted.

I had a miscarriage last year after a surprise pregnancy (aged 43 - I'm now 44 1/2. I already have two other girls ages now 15 and 11). I always thought I didn't want any more but the miscarriage was a kind of last chance wake up call. DH eventually agreed to give it a try for a few months and if nothing happened then that was it. I read everything I could and started taking all the supplements to try to enhance my chances. Started trying in June of last year, I took my temp each morning, maca powder with porridge (to make cycles more regular as were generally on the longer side and were also very light), multi vits, ubuiqunol and b complex vits. Also used opk digital tests.

Think I had a chemical in November of last year and the following month got a positive test - new year to be precise. I felt anxious all through the pregnancy and felt like every major stage was a milestone. DS finally arrived on 27/8 and I'm totally in love. His big sisters dote on him.

Sharing with you so you don't give up hope. Not sure if all the supplements and some lifestyle changes did make a difference. I realise that I am very lucky and wish you all the best on your journeys.

Kimm123 · 29/09/2019 13:24

Hi congrats to u.....pls can u tell me list of supplements which u took...at the mo im only taking lamberts strong start vitamins and minerals....much appreciate ur help xxx

Geegrl19 · 30/09/2019 01:09

@Kimm123 I'm in Australia and took Blackmores conceive gold vits, ubiquinol 100mg - two tablets per day, a vitamin b complex and a couple of teaspoons of maca powder which I stirred into my porridge in the mornings (I think this actually really helped in keeping my cycles to around 29/30 days).

I also cut out caffeine (killer for a coffee addict!), eased up on the exercise a bit so I put on a couple of kgs and only had a couple of drinks per week. I also read the book 'It starts with the egg' and so then tried not to eat out of plastics and then thought that shop receipts were poison every time I had to touch them, lol.

I do think though that I was extremely lucky and who knows if any of the above helped

Cleozeta · 30/09/2019 09:45

Congrats geegrl19 - always great (and so reassuring) to hear a positive story Smile

twinkledag · 30/09/2019 21:54

Hello everyone, I fell off the thread.

So happy to see all the BFPs. Congrats to @Cleozeta, keeping my fingers crossed for you as I could see how desperately you wanted this xx

Congrats to @Hobbes39 on the birth of your twins! Fantastic news!

And keeping my fingers tightly crossed for a smooth transfer @Russkispy 🤞

Good luck to all those still trying and congrats on all the bfps.

As for me - an update. My ivf cycle number 4 trying for a sibling failed ☹️. 7 eggs collected, 5 fertilised, 1 early blasto put back which ended in BFN and none to freeze.

Can't go for for more ivf - we've spend the best part of £30k on it! Last cycle was cancelled as we only had 1 blasto which we PGS tested and it wasn't suitable for transfer.

What now?

I have regular periods and my AMH was 10 when last tested, is it worth trying naturally? Our issue is male factor but DH's sample has improved so much over the years.

Or are we kidding ourselves considering we've been TTC 8 years over all and we've never had a natural BFP. ☹️

littlemimosa · 30/09/2019 22:09

@twinkledag I’m so sorry your cycle failed. It must be so hard when you invest so much in it. And I don’t just mean financially. 8 years must be so tough. I have no real advice for you only to ask if you’ve had any counselling to look for any potential emotional blocks? Sending much love.

@Kimm123 I’m sorry you’re in this position. I feel for you not having had a period for so long. How old are you? Have you had any tests done to find out why? My cycles are now irregular and more infrequent (think I’ve only had 5-6 this year. It worries me a lot.

@Geegrl19 congratulations! You give me hope. Especially as you say your cycles had got further apart. I’m going to start putting Maca in my porridge!

Kimm123 · 30/09/2019 22:19

Hi littlemimosa..i am 42years old
How old are u...im hoping to start clomid..how about u....have you tried anything....
I hope and pray for every1 on here to become pregnant....so we can put an end to this thread...

twinkledag · 30/09/2019 22:25

Thank you @littlemimosa. What do you mean by emotional block?

Kimm123 · 02/10/2019 13:28

Hi ladies....just got bk from my gynae app..she said cuz of low amh she not advising ivf or iui...she sent me for blood test to see if im premenopausal..and said not to take clomid..but to consider de...im soooo upset....unabe to give my child a sibling

BooseysMom · 02/10/2019 14:06

Just popping by and saw your news @Russkispy..wow, congratulations! Flowers

Hello everyone else inc Sparrow who kindly added me in her list! So i'm doing particularly well at 'not preventing' as I've managed about 6 wks with no bd Shock. Feeling horrendous and def peri looming ever closer Sad

NicLondon1 · 02/10/2019 14:50

@twinkledag, so sorry to hear your cycle failed. It surely is still worth trying to conceive naturally, just in case it happens? A friend of mine conceived naturally after 8 years of trying and failed cycles (though she did have 2 miscarriages). I guess otherwise donor sperm would be the next thing to consider..?

@Kimm123 sorry to hear your news too. Could you get a second opinion or private opinion..? I just found out my Mum had an early menopause at 43 and it has freaked me out! Have had very sparse cycles for last 2 years myself (am 40 now), I can't believe how this could just creep up on us!!!

NicLondon1 · 02/10/2019 14:58

I had an appointment at a private clinic yesterday. As we've naturally conceived but had 2 miscarriages this year, these are the options they gave us:

i) a natural cycle with follicle tracking/timed intercourse & progesterone supplements to prevent recurring miscarriage

ii) Medicated IUI Cycle (plus progesterone supplements)

iii) IVF with PGS - very expensive and not our first port of call! But equally, the other 2 options still feel like they're rather relying on my eggs to be healthy.... and not sure they are tbh.

Has anyone else done the follicle tracking/timed intercourse? Is it just a waste of money?!

Also, in the spirit of sharing, here are the supplements the consultant recommended:

For Women; Folic Acid, Omega 3 1000mg, CQ10 300mg, Vit B & D

For Men: Wellman, extra Selenium & Zinc, Vit D

MOST interestingly - I've been prescribed thyroxine, as even though my TSH levels are in the "normal" range of 0-4, they prefer women to have TSH of under 2 if trying to get pregnant!

twinkledag · 02/10/2019 15:14

I'm so sorry to read your news @Kimm123. Sending you a hug.

@NicLondon1 - interesting you say donor sperm, thought your suggestion would be donor eggs rather than sperm due to my age?

twinkledag · 02/10/2019 15:14

Ps @NicLondon1 - thank you for sharing the supplements list.

NicLondon1 · 02/10/2019 15:39

@twinkledag - only as you mentioned the male factor, no other reason... :)

twinkledag · 02/10/2019 15:58

Ah I see @NicLondon1 ☺️. The type of ivf we have had is supposed to bypass the Male factor hence I think the issue is now with me being 40.

Kimm123 · 02/10/2019 18:53

Hi NicLondon1....how old are you if you don't mind me asking? xx

NicLondon1 · 02/10/2019 19:42

Hi Kimm123, I'll be 41 in 2 months
