Waiting 2 months TTC and struggling !

MrsMeow2019 · 23/06/2019 10:41

Dear All,

This is my first post, been thinking about TTC since January. DH and I agreed to start in August but as it turns out we have a family weeding next year and if we were lucky in August I’d be far too prego to go ans wouldn’t want to miss said wedding. Sorry for the waffle anyway this means waiting till September ... which is only 2 months ago but feels like forever.

I’ve got lots of social events to keen me busy, could do with losing half a stone, have started folic acid/ vit D and am due my smear test the first week of September. So really the waits makes sense.

But I’m almost 34 and getting increasingly worried about possible problems and how long it will take. Aside from the fact that I feel super broody and just want to try yesterday 😆.

Any other crazy ladies out there to join the wait ?

Hi @MrsMeow2019 and everyone else too Smile
Hope you've all had a lovely day. It's been nice and warm here today so that's had me in a good mood.
I'm 2 days away from ovulating (I think) so have been very preoccupied with thoughts of conceiving eeek!
We DTD Sunday, this morning, and I think I'll try make sure we do it tomorrow, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. (Or at least Thursday and Friday)
God it's exhausting just thinking about it...!

AndddddHerewegoagain · 16/07/2019 21:01

Ive just come off Af so being really careful to not get carried away Grin

with a toddler thats easier than it sounds. 😂

MrsMeow2019 · 16/07/2019 21:28

@noodlesoup99 That's so exciting! Will keep my fingers and toes crossed for you this month!

@AndddddHerewegoagain oooo I'm a week behind you then ! I know the feeling, I'm so tempted to just see what happens this month, but if we did get a BFP I wouldn't be able to drink and I have a couple of events which would massively raise suspicion along with it making me due the week of my sisters wedding! Sometimes wish I was not so practical lol .

The weather is good here too but the aircon in my office is a nightmare so I've been sweating it out all day. My DH is away this weekend on a lads drinking weekend, I might treat myself to a day in town baby equipment window shopping hehe.

What are you ladies plans for the week? hope you're all enjoying the pre-baby and pre-number 2 baby time!

MrsMeow2019 · 16/07/2019 22:49

@andddddHerewegoagain Sounds like a lovely weekend aside from the packing! Have a lovely holiday :D, Love a good UK holiday, we go to Wales a fair bit, I love not having the stress of the airport and being able to go to Tesco (god I sound SO old!)

My next week off isn't until October it's making me very sad however managed to swing a long weekend at the end of the month thankfully!

@AndddddHerewegoagain what a good week to pick a holiday! Hope you're having a good time in the heat!!

@noodlesoup99 this is exciting! Fingers crossed for you :)

I am loving the weather at the moment, we've been out and about just loving life and its made me realise I am ready for a family and I am very excited :D I am due to ovulate tomorrow or the next day and it will be hard to be disciplined!
Up until this point I have been mostly scared about it all. haha

Hope everyone is having a lovely week? xx

MrsMeow2019 · 24/07/2019 22:18

@CouscousEvaporator The weather is fab isn't it ! That's lovely that you feel so ready :-), I can't wait either and ovulate at the weekend (I think / hope!) but still need to wait another month or two really.

Why are we all so sensible?

Has anyone seen the Ava bracelet for fertility tracking ? I am thinking of getting one but it's a lot of money and not sure how helpful would be ...

OP posts:
CouscousEvaporator · 25/07/2019 10:39

I don't want to be sensible at all at the moment haha.

Personally, I wouldn't try Ava until I had been ttc for a while, as it's so expensive. I've used OPKs so far which are showing a regular pattern, and I always have temping to try...

However, I think you can get discount codes for them and also they have quite a high resale value, it will take a lot of stress out of tracking so if maybe you don't want to think about it all too much then it might be a good option!

Basically my plan has been to know roughly when I ovulate. Once we start TTC I will stop all the tracking and just go with the flow, but my app will have the correct data in to make good enough guesses as to fertile weeks, and I have an idea of ovulation symptoms. I've been way to organised I think haha (I also work in gynae and find this stuff fascinating)

Are you tempted to just forget the wedding that's making you delay? I am!! I mean it wont make any difference in 2 years time will it...!

MrsMeow2019 · 25/07/2019 12:16

@CouscousEvaporator

I had similar thoughts on the Ava, you're right they seem to have high resale value. And I'm not sure it'll give me more information I'm just not keen on the idea of temping ans you're right gathering all the info is really interesting.

I'm still on my POP so haven't been using OPKs as a bit pointless but only 2 weeks of them left !

I'm so tempted to ignore the wedding ! But I would actually be due he week of the wedding if got a BFP this month :/, and I can't really afford more than 7-8 months off work which we put me at returning at Xmas...

Do you think you'll try this month CousCous?

MrsMeow2019 · 30/07/2019 21:33

@noodlesoup99 how is your first month of TTC going?

@CouscousEvaporator and @AndddddHerewegoagain how are you ladies holding up?

We've been away for a long weekend, returned to work today Sad. It's getting harder to not think about TTC isn't it! My colleague at work is about to go on Mat leave and another is in labour as I'm typing !

Counting down the weeks to TTC!

Only 1 more month to go @MrsMeow2019 we can do this!

Enjoy your last summer of freedom!

My friend has just announced she's having baby number 2. Its all getting a bit real!

CouscousEvaporator · 31/07/2019 11:23

Sorry I only just realised you replied @MrsMeow2019! We didn’t try this month as OH is more sensible than me haha

Hope you had a lovely long weekend??

@AndddddHerewegoagain glad you had a lovely holiday.

2 more months to wait for me! Ahh. I go from being excited to terrified 🤣
My friends have also been telling me about their birth injuries which might be why :(

I just feel like I need to do it before I think too much

CouscousEvaporator · 05/08/2019 17:32

MrsMeow2019 · 05/08/2019 21:24

@CouscousEvaporator your sentence of ' doing it before you think too much' resonates with me a lot! I keep thinking of reasons to put it off but then worry I'm getting so old! And I really want a baby

@catsandkid welcome!!! I'm in the same boat, AF due at the weekend and then it's game on !! I'm so worried it won't happen and equally worried that it will Shock. Did it take you long to conceive your first?

squirrelclub · 06/08/2019 19:52

Evening all! Is anyone still waiting to TTC or am I better off finding a new thread? I don't think we'll be ready to try until the new year. Blush

catsandkid · 07/08/2019 09:55

AF arrived early today so I'm officially On day 1 and will ttc this cycle!

CouscousEvaporator · 07/08/2019 10:19

@squirrelclub nooo stay! I’m still waiting too!! Tell us a bit about you, are you trying for #1?
I’ll be trying for no1 in October after our holiday 😁

@catsandkid this is exciting!! Let us know how you get on! Good luck x

catsandkid · 07/08/2019 15:55

@MrsMeow2019
It took 2 months of 'trying' with DS but I didn't really get too stressed out about it back then or anything. I did buy a CB fertility monitor on ebay though and fell pg first month I used it. Going to try and dig it out of the loft and see if it still works for this time around!

squirrelclub · 07/08/2019 20:07

A potential second, CouscousEvaporator! Conceived DC#1 (3) after two months of trying so we were very, very fortunate. Started a new job earlier this year so need to stick it out for longer for enhanced maternity pay. Had PGP at the end of my first pregnancy and ended up signed off so want to make sure I've been there a good while in case of a reoccurrence of that. Also for various reasons I would be looking to start mat leave early around 32-34 weeks so it makes sense to delay DC#2 until I'm established in my role. That will mean not trying until early next year so that I've got at least 18 months under my belt before I go off. That's all assuming we are lucky and conceive quickly, of course. What's your situation?

CouscousEvaporator · 08/08/2019 07:06

@squirrelclub ah a lovely sibling for dc1 ❤️ Hopefully it will be just as easy for you this time round - completely understand about the work related reasons. It’s sensible but it makes waiting a chore!
I have been waiting for similar reasons - I am hoping for a pay increase in sept, so it makes sense to wait. (And the fact I am avoiding the due date potentially being on a wedding day where I’m a bridesmaid- this sounds like a ridiculous reason even to me!)

I had to google PGP, that sounds horrible and constant. I think my work mate had that (SPD?) -she had to walk with crutches! Totally understand the earlier may leave dates!

Also, I was thinking about the conversations I’ve had with my mum about childbirth and she said it “wasn’t that painful” 🤣 I am hoping this runs in the family 🤣

Hope you’re all having a lovely week! Nearly Friday😁

AndddddHerewegoagain · 08/08/2019 17:07

@squirrel i can't tag you for some reason but its nice to have a second timer on board!
Im on day 1 of AF. Really struggling today after being surrounded by new borns every shop i went into and ds1 seems so grown up all of a sudden 😭 however we've just spent £6k on a new kitchen so very much doubt my dh will be willing to move times forward.

CouscousEvaporator · 14/08/2019 09:12

How are all you TTC-ers doing?

My period has decided to throw a curveball and be 2 days long 🙄 just as I want it to be regular.. typical!

So broody

JaffaCakeGal · 14/08/2019 10:07

First post for me, can I join? I'm not too hot on the acronyms here either, sorry!

Feels weird even thinking about saying that I want to TTC soon, I've not been with my OH long, but we have already discussed. Part of me wants to come off the pill straight away as I have been having issues with it recently. So I think well it won't happen for months, but then immediate family members have conceived straight away so it does send me a bit panicky. I have reasons to not want to be pregnant up until January, but then what if it does take that long to happen when I do come off the pill!

Like someone said above, I've spent that many years trying to NOT get pregnant, this feels very strange to me!
