Waiting 2 months TTC and struggling !

MrsMeow2019 · 23/06/2019 10:41

Dear All,

This is my first post, been thinking about TTC since January. DH and I agreed to start in August but as it turns out we have a family weeding next year and if we were lucky in August I’d be far too prego to go ans wouldn’t want to miss said wedding. Sorry for the waffle anyway this means waiting till September ... which is only 2 months ago but feels like forever.

I’ve got lots of social events to keen me busy, could do with losing half a stone, have started folic acid/ vit D and am due my smear test the first week of September. So really the waits makes sense.

But I’m almost 34 and getting increasingly worried about possible problems and how long it will take. Aside from the fact that I feel super broody and just want to try yesterday 😆.

Any other crazy ladies out there to join the wait ?

@MrsMeow2019 I feel totally anxious about it as well as excited!
I get consumed by things so easily and I know this is going to 100% take over my life.
Like you, I have to keep having a little break from reading these boards and googling stuff.
And I know everyone says that you need to be relaxed mentally, in order to conceive; Ha - I'm almost setting myself up to fail if that's the case.

I'm absolutely over the moon that you started this thread so we can try keep each other grounded.
I've been waiting to jump on here for months

AndddddHerewegoagain · 24/06/2019 22:23

Feel like a fraud with all you first timers Grin

Whenever my boss or his son play the piano i say i feel like im in downtown Abbey, 😂😂

Less glamourously i spent an hour at the garage today whilst they repaired a brake on one of the cars and have spent the whole day finding a lock smith who can fix an ancient old door lock.

MrsMeow2019 · 24/06/2019 22:25

@noodlesoup99 nice to know other people feel the same!

I'm glad I've got up the courage to start a thread after months of being a lurker. Actually oddly makes it all feel more real as well! Can't really join a TTC board lol. It'll be fun to chat to like minded ladies and support each other getting through the next few months.

Does Anyone have nice plans to distract themselves over the summer? We have lots of weekend plans with friends/festivals etc which I hope will distract me! But I'm sure it'll just give me time to sit on my phone perusing prams/ baby clothes etc.

I'll make a list (I love lists). Update me if I've got anything wrong, switching between 2 tabs :/.

@noodlesoup99 - Age 31 TTC DC1 August

@AndddddHerewegoagain TTC DC2 September

@MrsMeow2019 33 TTC DC 1 September

@Jellybott - Age 30 TTC DC1 October

@CousCousEvaporator TTC DC1 October

@CouscousEvaporator How were your periods when you had your copper coil removed?
So pleased that one of you ladies was using that method of contraception, I hardly know anyone who uses/has used it?
Also - hopefully you're gunna tell me it was much easier to have removed than on the way in

@AndddddHerewegoagain No way, it's good for us to have someone who can tell us about symptom spotting, actually being pregnant AND labour

noodlesoup99 · 24/06/2019 22:34

YES @MrsMeow2019 I love a list too Grin
And it definitely does make it feel very real and realise how close we all are to going for it, posting on here.

Summer plans are hopefully gunna be a nice distraction for us all. Which festival are you going to?
We're having a uk break in August with DP's DC, and I'll be making sure that they have plenty early nights so we can have loads of baby making sex GrinGrin (kind of joking) Wink

MrsMeow2019 · 24/06/2019 22:38

@AndddddHerewegoagain Agree with @noodlesoup99 your wisdom will be very useful and appreciated!

@noodlesoup99 nothing exciting lol, DH is a bit folky so it's local folk festival. Not to bad sitting around with proper G&Ts but camping so no chance for DTD really! I'm keeping September as free as I can for that lol! Hope you have a lovely time away in August, where are you off to? How old is DP's DC, a new sibling for them must be an exciting thought!

OP posts:
noodlesoup99 · 24/06/2019 22:49

@MrsMeow2019 That sounds great, I love a good festival. Sometimes the smaller ones are the best. Haha tent sex might be pushing it a bit when you're trying to make a baby Grin although, you will be relaxed and happy.. maybe it's a good time to start practising DTD and feeling chilled in prep for September!

We're going to Wales on holiday, and his DC are 11 and 9. They don't know about our baby plans really; it's a bit of a grey spot right now because they know that their DM doesn't particularly favour me, and they feel guilty for getting on with me. But, they're completely happy and comfortable with us as a couple and they do keep hinting about us having a baby so I don't think it will be a shock or that we'll get anything other than positivity from them about it.

MrsMeow2019 · 24/06/2019 23:02

@noodlesoup99 Tent sex is defo off the cards! The tents are pitched right next to each other, and DHs mates would have no qualms on just opening the tent if they suspected anything...

I love Wales, hope you'll have a fab time :). It's lovely you get on with the DCs so well, they'll be good babysitting age in a few years too!

CouscousEvaporator · 25/06/2019 07:07

@MrsMeow2019 ahh that list has made it very real 🙈

Has everyone here always wanted children? I haven’t, and as a result I’ve always been very militant with contraception so this is all very weird! I’m trying to focus on enjoying the summer (she says.... staring at the rain sheeting down)

@noodlesoup99 the coil coming out is soooo much better than going in! One almighty cramp then it’s done.
I think because I had it so long (I’ve had 2 over 11 years) my body was telling me to take it out. I would easily fill 3 mooncups in a day on my heaviest days and my periods would last 8 days, though this only happened over the last 2 years.
I was about to ovulate when I had the coil removed and it delayed it by a week - maybe due to the trauma of it? All the signs were there (the nurse commented on it too) then it all just stopped and happened a week later instead, so my cycle was a week longer too. No one told me about this though so I was panicking!

My current plan is to get as fit as I can over the next few months. Does anyone else do any sport/regular exercise?
I’d love to do some festivals too, I don’t think there will be many round here though.

Jellybott · 25/06/2019 07:32

Wow, the list definitely makes it more real!

@CouscousEvaporator I've always wanted kids, but it was always a 'one day' kind of thing, so it's weird that it nearly here. It's only the last couple of years I've really felt 'grown up' enough for it to happen, despite being nearly 31 Grin

I don't do any exercise (apart from walking) but I really should. Other than that though my diet's pretty good so I think I'll be fine health-wise. Are any of you making any lifestyle changes before you start trying?

MrsMeow2019 · 25/06/2019 07:51

@CouscousEvaporator gosh your periods sound really heavy, hope they settle now the coil has been removed. IMO Mirenas are better as tend to have lighter / no periods with those coils but they are hormone coated so not safe for everyone.

Babies! I've always wanted children (2 I think lol), but never been in the right place with work etc. Met DH 5 years ago and we've enjoyed our time together but we're ready for a little one now, we're pretty much the last out our friends to start a family !

@CouscousEvaporator what changed your mind about children?

Fitness ! @Jellybott I only walk too, keep thinking about joining a gym but I know I won't go and could put the £30 towards my maternity leave fund.

Sorry I'm not sure why my message is all in bold :/

Nicecupofcoco · 25/06/2019 08:03

Hi op, I'm not ttc, but im somebody that took much much longer than expected to fall pregnant, so my suggestion is go with it now! Start trying. Don't wait.
It doesn't always go as you'd hope. I'm similar age to you, but my family have a very strong history of early menopause, starting very early thirties with my mum, auntie, grandma and grandma's mum also, so I was really concerned and thought I'd missed my chance. I did fall eventually but it was an anxious time.
What I'm trying to get across is look at the bigger picture and go for what you want, the wedding will seem unimportant in comparison to your baby when your hold them in your arms.
Hope you didn't think I was hijacking just wanted to offer my advise! Best of luck to you all. Smile

CouscousEvaporator · 25/06/2019 10:46

@Jellybott ha I know what you mean about feeling grown up, actually I still don’t feel grown up despite being nearly 31 also 😆

I think I decided I wouldn’t be as bad a parent as I though I would when friends started having babies and I didn’t freak out at poop and sick and crying 😂 and it’s gone from there!!

@MrsMeow2019 I agree mirena sounds better period wise but the thought of having no periods freaks me out!! I wanted to keep my cycle as normal as possible without interference and I guess the week long periods were the compromise. Joy!

I’ve started a 30 day yoga challenge on YouTube, it’s actually really good and I don’t have to leave the house! It’s making me realise I have no core strength though...

@Nicecupofcoco everything you say is correct and I have said this to my OH, but he wants a couple more months for money. To be honest I might just forget the wedding as even if I delay a month I’m still risking it due date wise and no way will I delay more than that.

Have you guys heard of the app Femometer? I use it for the intelligent recognition on opks, obviously taken with a pinch of sal t but it’s interesting!

MrsMeow2019 · 25/06/2019 12:34

@Nicecupofcoco thank you for your message, I know what you're saying and that goes round in my head every day. But 2 months wait will put us in much better situation for lots of reasons, so I'm hoping my sensibleness will work out..... if not we've agreed we're happy to adopt and would go from there. I already have plans to go and get bloods on January if nothings happened. I hope everything worked out for you and you have wee one s.

@CouscousEvaporator yoga challenge sounds good , I might look into this, I prefer not to have to leave the house to exercise. Need a home gym Grin

@CouscousEvaporator No I haven't heard of femometer - is it an app where you take photos of the OPKs? Have you used it and found it helpful ?

@MrsMeow2019 it’s good! You take a pic and it gives you an estimate of whether you are low high or peak so you can tell when you have had you LH surge and therefore estimate when you are going to ovulate!

How’s everyones week going? mine is super slow. Managed to do my yoga last night despite feeling knackered! Happy hump-day everyone 😁

MrsMeow2019 · 26/06/2019 07:10

@CouscousEvaporator yay on the yoga front! I did no exercise, really struggle to be motivated after work lol

I'm not in work until tonight so catching up on some tele, meeting a friend with her new 2 week old later on! Time seems to go so slowly sometimes doenst it .

Hope you all have a good day, not far from Friday now!

OP posts:
noodlesoup99 · 26/06/2019 12:45

@CouscousEvaporator Amazing on the yoga! I always feel ace after doing it.
I did a 6k walk with DP and the dog last night
I'm due on next week though, and PMS is creeping in - I'm always so ravenous for carbs so trying to keep myself occupied so I don't face plant an entire loaf.

@MrsMeow2019 time does seem to be dragging! I'm using the school holidays as a bit of a milestone, because once we're there we'll be in touching distance of August.
3 weeks left after this one

Have you ladies got plans at the weekend?

(@AndddddHerewegoagain @Jellybott too? )

noodlesoup99 · 26/06/2019 12:46

Mixing up tagging people Blush
God, I'm old!

Jellybott · 26/06/2019 12:57

@noodlesoup99 I'm going out for dinner Friday night... Will be payday so have a date night planned. That's the extent of my plans at the moment!

All this talk of exercise is making me want to do more... Maybe I'll dust off the kettlebell I bought a while ago!

MrsMeow2019 · 26/06/2019 15:49

@noodlesoup99 I like your thinking, summer holidays isn't far away at all.
Walk sounds lovely, we have cats they're not very good at encouraging exercise!

@CouscousEvaporator dinner and date night sounds like an excellent evening ! And yay pay day weekend!

We're away with some friends at the weekend and I can't wait. I'm going to drink a pile of gin I think lol

Just had coffee with a friend and new baby who is gorgeous , feel stupid am so sad it's still at least a few months away and who knows how much longer for me.
Then got to my car to find someone has reversed into it at the car park and not even left a not! So feeling a bit sorry for myself today and really don't want
To go to work tonight lol!

Apologies for the rant lol
