Does anyone want to join?

I have been TTC #1 for 15 months and had a MC at 8 weeks in February.
I am off to the GP tomorrow to try and get a referral to a reproductive endocrinologist.
Tried every trick and tip and old wives tale in the book to get a bfp!
It would be good to have a group of longer term ttcers to chat to.

@bunhead34 exactly the same here - all good on my end apparently, it took DH five months to finally book his SA, his is next week. Sat down and spoke to him about it and he's just anxious because he doesn't know how he'll cope if the results come back that it's him... but we'll hit that barrier when we come to it... maybe have that chat?

@FlapJackered ah man, sorry that's the outcome 😩 why are they resetting it because of your mc?! Is private the only option? Is there anyway you could possibly go your DHs GP and see if they can refer you instead? X

@FlapJackered I'm going NHS and private. NHS is very slow. Only had standard blood test and still waiting for results, privately I've had initial consultation and scan which revealed I ovulated super early (saved me a fortune on ovulation tests!) and I've just the moment had my 21 day test - slightly early due to early ovulation but I think it will reveal my progesterone is v low. I just hope they can fix it. I went with a gynecologist/obstetrician as he did my D&C after my first MMC and he has been super helpful. I'm 38 so he has been very much of the View we shouldn't mess about and test for everything necessary then work out a plan. It's made me feel a lot better. Initial tests are gynaecology related so covered by my health insurance but if I have to look into fertility treatment then I'll have to pay for it so I'm going down both routes - nhs and private to ensure that I don't get missed in the system if privately it works out too pricey. I have no idea how much all this costs.

@bunhead34 welcome! It does seem that the men often take longer to get their heads around it all, my DH was definitely that way.

@MuddyElephant unfortunately they said because I officially conceived they won't accept that I have a problem. So frustrating! I have booked an appointment with the private clinic on 21st June so keeping everything crossed I get pregnant before then and can cancel it, as it looks like it can get very expensive very quickly!

@cupcakesandglitter Unfortunately DH and my GPs are the same. 🙄 I burst into tears at the docs and I think she felt guilty so is giving me a thyroid blood test again 😂 ... I have a feeling it has crept up again!

@Newbie21 that's great they are looking into it all. When do you get the results? From what I hear low progesterone is really easily treatable so hopefully it is that and they can prescribe you some progesterone for your luteal phase 🤞🏻🤞🏻

@FlapJackered apparently dr will have my results tomorrow so not sure if he will just discuss on the phone with me or whether he'll want me to come into the clinic. It's amazing how quick it all is on the private side. I realise I am incredibly lucky that such an avenue is available to me. The nurse I saw at my GP surgery was also amazing I should say though. It is just unfortunate that on the NHS things are so slow to filter information. Also the blood test I had on the NHS didn't test anything related to fertility or hormones but it was just an initial test. I told my mum what they were testing and she said it was just standard bloods that they always do so won't reveal anything. I'll try my gp surgery tomorrow to find out what the next nhs step is as I hear the recurrent miscarriage clinics can be very good.

I understand the frustration of not getting tests or referrals though. Initially I got told I needed to have 5 MCs before a referral! 5! Also the fact that you are waiting to get pregnant and lose it to get any help is a horrible thought. I wish the doctors could react quicker. Th mental strain of TTC following an MC or even just month after month of TTC and AF showing up or weird unexplained cycle patterns is so overlooked.

@FlapJackered @cupcakesandglitter well it turns out he had an appointment today but didn't tell me because I make too much fuss! 🤷🏼‍♀️
Anyway he has to go back next week for SA.

For this mentioning acupuncture, I tried it a few months ago. I feel any benefit from it, it felt like money down the drain! I suppose it does help some tho.

@FlapJackered 2 years is an insane amount of time to have to wait! Is it worth going to see a different gp in the practice? It seems like some of them will overlook the 'rules' ?

@FlapJackered that is so frustrating, and as @Newbie21 says it's not like you want to be waiting and wishing for more MC to get referred. I'd second trying another doc and hope you can avoid the private app.

Newbie did you get your results?

@Bunhead34 glad your dp has got things underway Smile

@FlapJackered definitely try another doctor. I would focus on gynecology issues rather than fertility/miscarriage issues if you can and you May get a gynecology appointment which will cover the basics at least. Still do mention your MCs and everything but if you have concerns about spotting and very unusual periods or anything then they can justify looking into it.

@MuddyElephant I didn't get my 21 day test results but I did get a call from my GP surgery asking me to come for my gynecology appointment on Sunday! I'll try and get my 21 day test results tomorrow so I can share that with the NHS doctor as that may speed things up.

AF turned up today... well I think it has. I bled this morning so put in a tampon but when I took it out it wasn't filled which it usually is when I start AF but anyway suffice to say I haven't got a clue what is going on down there! Sorry for TMI.

@bunhead34 glad DH had an appointment that is really positive. I told my DH that he will likely get checked as the dr mentioned it but I know he is hoping that they will establish the issue is me (which, to be fair, it pretty much certainly is) so he won't need a test but I think the dr will test him anyway to make sure there isn't anything else (I haven't told him that... will cross that bridge when we get to it).

Hey, hoping i can join too! I was on the other thread for a bit but was getting a bit down coz everyone seemed to be getting BFPs so quickly too!

I'm at the end of cycle 7. Pretty sure AF is a day or so away. I know that's not nearly as long as some of you, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to have issues because I have a short cycle and short luteal phase (plus I am rubbish at handling stress!!). It is nice to have some support on here anyway 😊

FlapJackered · 03/05/2019 07:15

Thanks guys, I think I will stick with the private appointment now and see if I need drugs I can potentially ask the consultant to refer me back to nhs for treatment.

@Newbie21 how did the tests go? I hope they came back ok. 🤞🏻

@bunhead34 that's good news! Sometimes it just has to be on their on terms and timeline. 🙄

Welcome @PineappleC are you charting or taking opks? I actually find the charting chills me out as I can see when ovulation has happened and I don't have to deal with horrible bfn's.

Oh god @FlapJackered sorry thought maybe you'd have different ones 😩 it's ridiculous that it's a case of whether you can get pregnant or not - surely it's about whether everything goes okay afterwards that counts? I've seen threads where women have CPs every month, surely that warrants help? I'm glad you're at least getting another test, when is it? X

@bunhead34 glad he went and got it sorted. DHs is next week too - fx we both get some answers soon x

Hey @PineappleC I think I remember you from the other threads - it's definitely a hard time. I think when you're TTC even three months can feel like forever! X

Hi all, been a bit quiet a couple of days with AF turning up, have just been to the drs to discuss how emotionally difficult I'm finding everything and they're going to refer us 😃😭 so happy I can't stop crying. Booked in this aft for day 3 bloods, DH is off for his bloods and SA, 🤞🏻they find something easy to fix and I can stop feeling like there's something seriously wrong with me and I'll get my BFP to stay this time.
I'll catch up on the rest of the thread now I've shared my news with someone who's not my hubs. Wishing you all a good Friday xxx

@FlapJackered I'd certainly go with a different doctor, I went to see one last month and she said I'd need to wait till September which is a year after my mc, couldn't cope with the emotional strain so went back today and saw someone else and by god I'm glad I did coz now we're being referred.

Hey @PineappleC I remember you from the other thread. 👋🏻

@BabySquid so sorry about af but that's great news you're being referred!

My doc just called me and she had double checked the criteria with someone and apparently my miscarriage doesn't count after all so I am being referred!! So happy I could cry! Time to cancel the private appointment which is great as that was going to be £500+ for consultations and all the tests 😅

Great news @flapJackered and @babysquid!

Hello and welcome to those joining the thread 👋

No new updates my end... AF due on the 10th May. Feeling very unpregnant! Got a hen do this weekend which I think will take my mind off things, so excited for that. Bring on the G&Ts!

@flapJackered and @babysquid so pleased you've both got your referrals

welcome to those joining the thread 👋 sorry you are also in this situation but it's great to talk to people who understand

Feeling a bit down today as realised I won't have a baby in 2019 whatever happens. Its only a number but I always thought I'd have one by now and it just seems so far off. My boobs are also ridiculously painful (standard for me 7dpo) and pissing me off!

@Bluebells2019 enjoy the hen do and the gin!

@MuddyElephant oh I hadn't even realised that, here's hoping for 2020 babies then 🤞

I'm feeling a bit nauseous today, and kept having this weird dizzy feeling last night while dozing/waking up. Probably nothing tho! Maybe I was dreaming 😂

@Bluebells2019 enjoy the hen do and the gin! I will be binge watching outlander. Got a friend with her baby coming tomorrow for lunch too, so will try not to be a jealous ttc friend!

@Bunhead34 yep, hopefully 2020 for us all Smile

Your weekend sounds nice and chilled. I always try and enjoy the baby cuddles but revel in being able to give baby back for the 'bad' bits Wink to make myself feel less jealous.

My in laws are coming for the long weekend, lots of Wine will be consumed Grin

Thanks so much for the warm welcome all 😊

@babysquid and @flapjackered that's fantastic news for both of you 🎉 The wait must have been so frustrating. I hope you get some good answers now 😊

@flapjackered I've charted since I started TTC but have only done opks for 3 months. My cycles are around 24-25 days, but based on opks my luteal phase is around 10 days which seems pretty short?

I think for me one of the key issues is stress. I was training for a marathon until recently, and my job is stressful, but now marathon is done plus I actually resigned from my job this week so hoping my stress levels will reduce a bit!! 🤞 Also trying meditation, but not finding it easy to switch off after 12hr days and the commute from the city.

I hope you all have some great plans for the bank holiday. Mine will be spent mainly on the sofa! 😁👍xx

How did I not see this before and not get an email for tagging?

I'll join, in a week it'll mark a year trying. Although my cycles used to be only 24 days for a while, so more than 12 by now anyway. Currently on 3rd cycle of Clomid and 10dpo.

@BabySquid was just thinking of you earlier as I knew you approached a year. So glad you got a referral!

@FlapJackered thank you for thinking of me and tagging me!

@BabySquid we can compare test results 😂

@Bluebells2019 enjoy the hen party! I am jealous of the g&t's!

@bunhead34 I love outlander! I feel so bereft now I have finished it all!

@PineappleC I could be wrong but I think 10 days is still within normal range. That is exciting about the job! Have you got another in the pipeline or are you taking a break?
I am the same with meditation, my mind just wonders and I find it hard to switch off, from what I hear it takes some time to get good at it.

@KatBeCool welcome to the dark side 😂
What's the temp doing this morning? I have had a slight dip today at 9dpo hoping it goes up again tomorrow, or at least doesn't go down more. My chart has been known to slowly go down to the cover line from 10dpo though. 😕

@PineappleC ten day LP is still considered normal but on the lowest end. People have conceived with even shorter LP.

@FlapJackered the temp shot back up to very high. Haven't seen any more blood or spotting whatsoever since yesterday morning. Although for some reason my body decided to wake up at 2:30am and not bother falling back to sleep, so my temp taking was off by a couple hours but I could tell my body temp was significantly higher. I'm going to hold off until Tuesday to test as long AF doesn't show up. How are you doing? You're only two dpo behind me.
