Does anyone want to join?

I have been TTC #1 for 15 months and had a MC at 8 weeks in February.
I am off to the GP tomorrow to try and get a referral to a reproductive endocrinologist.
Tried every trick and tip and old wives tale in the book to get a bfp!
It would be good to have a group of longer term ttcers to chat to.

@RosettaR I was taking so much of vitamin E only for my lining. I'd definitely recommend it if yours is thinner.

@FlapJackered I left the appointment feeling positive - the doctor seemed to think my endo hasn't caused too much damage as everything seems pretty normal. I was given a choice - do we proceed in finding out how bad my endo is (could mean big surgery if the problem where it's suspected to be) or do we treat infertility. I chose the latter!

@MotherOfShihTzus Sorry to hear you had pain afterwards! I have my HSSG in a couple of weeks and I'm scared it'll be painful and I'll make abrupt moves and accidentally hurt myself (or the doctor!).

KatBeCool Good news about the lining! You're showing a good example with the yoga and gym to all of us.

RosettaR · 15/09/2019 08:19

@KatBeCool I've not been told my lining is thin but I'm willing to try anything. At my scan they said it was normal but that was CD7 so not sure it would have got that thick by then anyway. Do you have a link or something for the yoga poses?

Report
KatBeCool · 15/09/2019 10:11

@RosettaR it is more of a compilation of links, but you can search for them individually - butterfly, cat, pigeon, squat, legs up the wall. Last two are most important. I did it 2-3 times a day.
On CD7 it's in between thin and good, so hard to say. There's also a range of "normal", you can be on the higher end or on the lower. Do you remember what it was? I hate when they say to me "it's all looking good". I need to see actual numbers!!!

@Lina365 HSG for me was horrific. I went in already terrified. Take 800mg of ibuprofen two hours prior. And you have to relax while they do it. I couldn't but for the few seconds that I managed to relax, the pain was less. But just remember this - it doesn't last long, only 2-5 minutes and no matter how much it hurts, if it hurts, you'll live and make it through. You will be able to bear the pain. You won't really be able to hurt yourself if you move a little.

RosettaR · 15/09/2019 10:23

@KatBeCool i checked the paperwork they gave me and it says endometrial thickness was 6.8mm. Does that sound OK given day 7? I normally ovulate day 13 to 15 so there were still a few days for it to get thicker - assuming that's what happens. I feel so ignorant!

Report
Lina365 · 15/09/2019 10:32

Thanks for the encouragement, @KatBeCool! Was the pain like period cramps? Because I think can deal with that as it's "familiar" kind of pain, if you know what I mean. Were your tubes both open?

Report
Mrs71 · 15/09/2019 11:04

@Lina365 good luck with the dye test! I also need that done but am so petrified of the pain.

Report
Lina365 · 15/09/2019 11:11

Thanks, @Mrs71! It won't be for another couple of weeks (and if we get lucky there'll be a bfp before that!). So are you on the fence about going?I'm terrified too, but I'm also looking forward to it. There's been so much waiting around that in a weird way I can't wait to find out what condition my tubes are in and whether I can technically get pregnant the natural way.

Report
KatBeCool · 15/09/2019 15:44

@RosettaR 6.8mm sounds good for CD7. You need at least 8mm when you ovulate (ideally 11mm or more).

@Lina365 it's very similar to cramps, maybe more sharp. And it doesn't just go from zero to Satan in a second, it progresses so there's time to adjust. My left tube passed the dye immediately, right one took a minute (literally). Watching it on the screen distracts you from pain just slightly.

@Mrs71 don't be scared. Coming from someone who had horrid pain, you'll get through it. If I had to do it again tomorrow, I wouldn't even hesitate. At the least, breathe deep when they're in, it'll help.

How is everyone on this drab Monday?!

AF due here today and temp dip means I'm fully expecting it.

However, I'm heading for my first acupuncture appt tonight; anyone have experience with this?

starkid · 16/09/2019 13:15

Good luck for acupuncture @MotherOfShihTzus a couple of people on here have been doing it :)

I'm CD15 of cycle 15 and expecting a positive opk today or tomorrow 🤞

RosettaR · 16/09/2019 14:03

@MotherOfShihTzus I know the feeling, I hate that temp dip.

@Mrs71 and i are doing acupuncture. I still find it a little hard to relax around the needles, but this cycle i had an extra day on my luteal phase. If that continues i will be a convert! Its also great to have someone to talk to about diet and lifestyle, to tell you to do things you know you should be doing (for me, avoid sugar and caffeine and have more snacks with complex carbs and protein). Somehow being told by someone makes me more likely to actually do that kind of thing!

So my scan was today. My lining got thinner. Thinner!!!! How does that even happen? It was 7.5mm today, which is still good, but it better be thickening. My follicles grew to 15-16mm. Trigger tonight, IUI Wednesday. Told DH that Dr prescribed "intercourse" tonight, he didn't want to believe me until I showed him 😂

How's everyone else? I'm losing track of who's doing what and when.

Hello ladies. Currently on cycle 13. Ttc #4 with a new partner. I had a CP in May, Then again July and again in Sept. flFeeling like I'm running out of time (I'm 41 next month) and it's never going to happen. Anyone offer some hope?

Report
FlapJackered · 16/09/2019 22:57

@KatBeCool no! What is that about? How accurate is it, could it be they measured a slightly different area?
That is good that it is still ok though and exciting it is all happening! 🤞🏻

@MotherOfShihTzus sorry for the temp dip. So frustrating. I have done acupuncture and it actually really helped me chill out. It also brought my ovulation forward by 4 days and I have been bang on regular since I started it, I can't say for sure it is the acupuncture but it would be a weird coincidence otherwise.

@Whyhaveidonethis welcome! Sorry to hear you're also struggling and for your CPs. You hear a lot of people on this site have had children well into their 40s and the fact that you have DCs is a great sign for you.

DH and I have been invited to a wedding in the Caribbean next year, it's a good friend of his so he is keen to go, BUT it is a low risk zika zone. What are your thoughts? It is a risk but a very low risk. Half of me thinks I might equally be hit by a bus and i should not worry about it but the other half of me thinks why take unnecessary risks? 🤷🏼‍♀️ Also I hate putting life on hold because of all this, it hasn't happened in the last year and a half what's to say it will happen in the next 9 months.

@FlapJackered she kept measuring over and over at different angles and best she got was 7.53mm. But on Saturday the technician measured 8mm right away. I don't know how that works. It did seem it was a bit thicker on Saturday from what I could see on the monitor, but we're talking only 0.5mm difference so I don't know. I could definitely see the difference in the follicle size though. This process is so complicated.

@starkid did you get your positive opk?

@RosettaR yep the dip continues but still no AF- which does mean an extra day onto the literal phase so I'm grateful for that at least.

@FlapJackered I know exactly what you mean about putting life on hold, and then getting frustrated at missing out just in case it happens! Even just with socialising at the weekends... as well as girls trips I've turned down. Are you able to decide later on whether to go to the wedding?

Think I liked the acupuncture last night. Too soon to tell about the effects, but I will continue. Hope everyone has a good Tuesday!

@MotherOfShihTzus - annoyingly I forgot to do it all day until 10pm and it was a massive negative! Was close yesterday though, so I expect I'd have got a positive if I did it yesterday afternoon... will keep testing for a couple of days though to be sure but I'm usually pretty regular

Glad you liked acupuncture, definitely something i'm going to look into later in the year once had more tests, results etc from fertility specialist (week and a half away FINALLY, it's been a long 3 months!)

@FlapJackered don't put life on hold. I'd still take a bit extra precautions (long sleeves, etc) when in the Zika country but it hasn't been as much of an issue recently anyway.

@starkid fingers crossed you get your +opk today. I got mine today but technically it's from the trigger shot. Hopefully I don't ovulate early like I think I did last month.

@MotherOfShihTzus extra day in LP is always a plus. Mine was always quite short. Although I think it went from 10 days to 12 in the last 6-8 months, it used to be only 10.

@FlapJackered regarding the zika thing, I wouldn't put life on hold. I went to the Caribbean last year when we were ttc, I saw so many pregnant women! I'm off to the Indian Ocean in 2 weeks time which also has risks.
