Does anyone want to join?

I have been TTC #1 for 15 months and had a MC at 8 weeks in February.
I am off to the GP tomorrow to try and get a referral to a reproductive endocrinologist.
Tried every trick and tip and old wives tale in the book to get a bfp!
It would be good to have a group of longer term ttcers to chat to.

Hey all -
Can anyone interpret these thyroid (TSH) and AMH results:
TSH 3.02 mIU/L
AMH 19.8 pmol/L ?

Thanks!

KatBeCool · 12/09/2019 15:17

@Broodyaf TSH is normal for every day life (max is 4.85) but for ttc ideally they prefer between 1 and 2. You can ask your GP for low dose of levothyroxine, they might be nice enough to prescribe it, although some resist.
AMH is slightly low but still within range for ivf or natural conception (likely with medication).
All things considered, it's not bad at all.

KatBeCool · 12/09/2019 15:25

@Broodyaf should've added what I meant by slightly low amh, the "satisfactory" and average number is 22 pmol/l (some say 21.98) so your difference is negligible. You don't want it above 48 or below 3.

MotherOfShihTzus · 12/09/2019 15:35

I'm back after time away, moving house, renovating, holidays etc. Can I join in again?

I'm now on cycle 19 tww, in the fertility testing phase. Had my hsg (horrific), and pelvic scan this week which showed what looks like a fibroid. Feeling rather fed up and looking for some positive news.

What have I missed? X

starkid · 12/09/2019 15:41

@MotherOfShihTzus - oh no sorry to hear your HSG was horrific! What happened to make it so? Was it painful? I'm planning to ask for one in my specialist appointment end of the month...!

MotherOfShihTzus · 12/09/2019 15:52

@starkid the test itself was fine, but later that evening I had severe cramping. I just hadn't expected it so it was a shock; everything I'd read had said cramping just after the procedure - so it's probs good to know to expect it - I almost went to a&e Confused as I thought something had gone wrong. Was only afterwards that anyone said about what happens after! Def worth doing though so don't let that put you off; don't make any plans after and get an early night and I'm sure it will be ok :) x

starkid · 12/09/2019 16:31

@MotherOfShihTzus - thanks, will bear in mind if I get it booked in! :) xx

RosettaR · 13/09/2019 08:28

@KatBeCool thanks for the link, that really helps. I feel like I'm looking for a way to blame myself for this situation - it just feels like something must have caused it to be so low! But I guess the normal range is very wide (4.1 to 58 for someone 30-35), so I guess someone has to be near the bottom ...

Sorry to hear you're having migraines. How bad are they? I get fairly mild ones compared to some people.

@Broodyaf your TSH is very similar to mine, mine was 3.6 then 2.7 on a re test. First the clinic told me that was high and for ttc it should be under 2.5. Then (like 2 weeks later) they said they had changed their protocol and my results are now considered normal. My GP also considers it normal. I'm thinking about going privately to an endocrinologist to get a second opinion. There seems to be a lot of confusion...

KatBeCool · 13/09/2019 09:43

@RosettaR in comparison, my migraines are very mild too. Only literally twice in my life they were disabling where I just pretty much wanted to die. These were even less than mild but annoying and hard to get rid of. This cycle went far easier, happened only twice.
You don't need to look for a reason to blame yourself, most women having trouble conceiving haven't done anything wrong.

@FlapJackered how are you doing, hun?

FlapJackered · 13/09/2019 13:27

@KatBeCool I am ok thanks Hun. I have just been trying to distract myself with work.
I have my op booked in for 16th October after complaining to my gp, so feel good having that sorted. Annoyingly I am at a hen do for two days when ovulation is due this month, which sucks as I hardly know anyone going. I suppose I am going to have to hope Dtd two days before will be enough.
How are you? Where are you with it all?

@Lina365 I do think telling people we were trying really helped me. I am now very honest with all my friends. It is good as now I don't get anyone asking about it.
I hope the ivf appointment went well.

Welcome back @MotherOfShihTzus sorry to hear you're still here though!

@RosettaR @Broodyaf I went to my gp last week as my tsh was 2.49 and asked if I could try upping my medication to see if it would help bring it down to below 2 and she agreed. So if you're worried about it it might be worth asking your gp to try an increase in meds.

@FlapJackered I'm CD9 today, going for the scan tomorrow. Fingers crossed my lining is thicker, it's my biggest worry. Hoping for at least 7mm. I don't like people who work there on Saturdays, they won't answer any questions and if they do, they don't sound like they know what they're talking about.
Glad to hear your op is scheduled for sooner than three months. If you don't know anyone at the hen do, I just wouldn't go if I was ovulating then, just say you're ill. You know you'll be thinking that you're missing your most fertile days the entire time and not enjoy yourself fully.

FlapJackered · 13/09/2019 14:03

@KatBeCool I think the hen would be really annoyed at me if I bail as she has had quite a few drop outs. I am thinking of only going for the 1 night though and leaving early, depending on when I get my smiley face.
Fingers crossed for tomorrow!

Hi ladies! Just been catching up.

@RosettaR yes I still go for acupuncture and I really enjoy it. Made me feel so much more relaxed.

I've been feeling really shit these last couple days. I ovulated 4 days ago and I've been cramping like crazy! I don't know if the acupuncture has anything to do with it. I really don't want to get my hopes it, it's so not worth it. She told me if AF doesn't arrive on 24th/25th of this month then do a pregnancy test on the 26th. Which is also my birthday!! I can't think of anything worse than getting a bfn. I just can't imagine even falling pregnant after being so disappointed so many times.

RosettaR · 13/09/2019 22:09

@Mrs71 I think acupuncture might have added an extra day to my luteal phase this cycle. Normally it's 11 days, this cycle AF was a day late which is really unusual for me. So I think it does something. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

It's so hard not to get your hopes up. AF being a day late did not help as that's so rare for me.

Mrs71 · 13/09/2019 23:23

@RosettaR it brought my ovulation forward by 2 Days! It's so weird, she put a needle in my ankle or near I can't remember exactly where and it was a bit uncomfortable she told me she knew my body had released progesterone and I've ovulated! 🤯 I can imagine even one day makes all the difference. I don't want to get my hopes up as it's so disheartening

starkid · 14/09/2019 07:00

@RosettaR @Mrs71 this acupuncture talk really intrigues me! It's something I'm definitely considering booking (after my fertility specialist appointment) Smile wouldn't mind my luteal phase going from 11 to 12 days.

Mrs71 · 14/09/2019 11:27

@starkid I absolutely love it. It's made me feel so much more relaxed about the whole thing this month. It's a weird feeling and I actually look forward to my next session. I had my peak on my clear blue monitor cd12 usually I wouldn't get it until after cd15.

KatBeCool · 14/09/2019 15:21

So great news/news kinda thing from my scan today. My lining is 8mm!!!! Wahoo! Everything I did totally worked! But my follicles aren't ready yet unlike last time, only 12-13mm, so I'm having another scan on Monday. I'll be nervously doing opks to make sure I don't miss it.

RosettaR · 14/09/2019 15:30

@starkid i will be very impressed if the extra day luteal phase continues. This time i still feel like it might be a one off. But my short luteal phase is something that has worried me so an improvement is good. I mean it was crap this cycle because i got really excited about late AF. But in the long run it is good.

I have also booked a private appointment in two weeks time with an endocrinologist recommended by someone in my family. I will let you know what they say about marginal TSH @Broodyaf.

Any news from your scan @KatBeCool?

starkid · 14/09/2019 15:33

@KatBeCool - great news :D :D

Mrs71 · 14/09/2019 15:57

@KatBeCool fab news!!

KatBeCool · 14/09/2019 15:57

@RosettaR looks like we were going at the same time so you missed my answer :) also, my luteal phase did gain a couple of days after my TSH was under control.

RosettaR · 14/09/2019 16:07

@KatBeCool that's great news, you must be so relieved. Is there anything else you did this month that you can recommend?

KatBeCool · 14/09/2019 16:16

@RosettaR gym! Although I went only three times starting cd5. But I made sure not to always be stationary (thanks desk job), did some yoga poses to bring blood to pelvic area, 600mg of vitamin E for the past five days, and pomegranate juice, in addition to CoQ10, pregnacare, vitamin D, and fish oil. I couldn't believe it when he said 8mm, last cycle it was only 5.61mm and even with taking estradiol from CD10, I knew it wasn't going to thicken enough.

RosettaR · 14/09/2019 17:18

@KatBeCool that's quite a list, well done! I didn't know being too sedentary could be bad for ttc. I will try to go for walks at lunch time more. Normally I sit at my desk literally all day. May also try CoQ10 and vitamin E and/or D. I already take pregnacare and fish oil. Weirdly there's not much vitamin E in Pregnacare.
