TTC for 1 year +

FlapJackered · 30/04/2019 15:55

Does anyone want to join?

I have been TTC #1 for 15 months and had a MC at 8 weeks in February.
I am off to the GP tomorrow to try and get a referral to a reproductive endocrinologist.
Tried every trick and tip and old wives tale in the book to get a bfp!
It would be good to have a group of longer term ttcers to chat to.

@flapjackered thanks! Ah I can imagine that is equally as frustrating. My friend has always been on the low BMI side (she has been tiny ever since we were at school, and she eats like a horse :) ). I hope your weigh in goes well!

We have been trying for about 2 years now, not very seriously for the first year, more seriously this year. I'm 34 in August, with cycles that range anywhere from 27 days to 50 days.

Mrs71 · 06/06/2019 10:53

I’ve already used pre seed I also found that very messy! The suggest amount to use in the syringe is just way too much. I’ve ordered conceive plus no harm in giving it a go. Cd4 for me so long way to go again.

Welcome @LoveTheBear85 👋🏼 Is that how long gp’s wait then to send you to fertility clinic around 2 years? My gp told me to come back if I haven’t fallen pregnant after another 6/7 months. Really hope I get BFP before then!

KatBeCool · 06/06/2019 12:38

@LoveTheBear85 welcome. Definitely try to lose weight as much as you can. For some treatments bmi isn't a factor, but they can't do ivf if bmi is too high.

@Goodyear2019 I'm on progesterone prescription so there's no "due" as it may or may not affect AF start. In the last three cycles it was at 14dpo that I started spotting, but there's no guarantee that it works like clockwork. The rule is to test at 14dpo and then if bfn, stop taking it and AF will come.

Carley321 · 06/06/2019 19:14

I’ve been trying to mount on weight with no luck. I’ve also cut back on the booze @FlapJackered although a wine on the weekend is a must right now. The only thing I could do is have breakfast, the rest of the day i literally don’t stop.

Hello @Lovethebear85 good news on the referral. How long have you been ttc?

Carley321 · 06/06/2019 19:17

Sorry @Lovethebear85 cross post! I have very irregular periods to. It’s a bloody nightmare.

FlapJackered · 07/06/2019 05:50

Temp drop this morning so I am out. 👎🏻
Silver lining - at least I can drink this weekend now!

@FlapJackered I'm sorry, hun. Same for me, not a massive drop but still a drop. Bfn on frer, so stopping progesterone. I saw your post on the other thread that you're taking a break from mn, I don't blame you. I'm thinking I'll be taking a break too, if anything, I won't read the other thread anymore. The support is great, but seeing every bfp from those trying for only a month or two is becoming too much to handle.

cupcakesandglitter · 07/06/2019 10:15

Hey @KatBeCool just popped on this thread to see how you are - sorry you had a drop this morning too 😩

PineappleC · 08/06/2019 11:42

Hi ladies, hope you are all well 😊 I took a week off thinking about TTC for my holiday. After my last AF I just needed to get it out of my head for a while and stop feeling like a slave to TTC rules! It was really good and nice to enjoy sex rather than timing it 😊 It also got me thinking that I need to find a balance between TTC and living life/not beating myself up, especially if this ends up taking ages. I haven't done Opks this month so no idea where I am, but cd13 for me.

Anyway sounds like I have missed quite a bit...HUGE congratulations @babysquid and @newbie21 really pleased for you both, and this really gives me hope 😊👶👍

Newbie21 · 09/06/2019 11:49

Thanks @PineappleC Glad you has a nice holiday. Sounds like it was what you needed. I totally agree with trying to find a balance. It's really hard and easier said than done but I do believe that I relaxed a lot when I started my recurrent Mc tests as I relaxed into the fact it might take time and so didn't seriously think I'd get a BFP before all the Clomid, IVF started and then I did. It's super early days but I'm trying to take each day as it comes.

You should definitely arrange things to look forward to - non TTC related - nights out with the girls, spa days, date nights with partner, holidays. Whatever puts a smile on your face and gives you a goal other than TTC

I hope all you ladies are doing ok?

I'm 5 weeks now. Had spotting over a week ago and go referred me for HCG testing and scan so had first HCG test yesterday and it was looking good but the one tomorrow is the important one so fingers crossed the level doubles. They'll do the scan tomorrow too as with my levels something should show but the HCG is the important one. They think the spotting was likely IB so fingers crossed. It's such early days and all my MCs happened later so I'm just being grateful that today I am pregnant. I hopefully I'll be able to say that for the next 8 months.

Carley321 · 09/06/2019 19:14

I like your plan @PineappleC I have told myself the same this month. I just hope I can stick to it 🤦‍♀️ It’s so easy to get caught up in all this ttc madness.

I was thinking of having a break from it all @Flapjackered and just seeing where we’d end up. But don’t think I can control myself enough.

I may make some plans to focus on instead.

Aw @Newbie21 I hope everything works out for you. Good luck 🤞 💗. X

PineappleC · 11/06/2019 09:12

Thanks @Newbie21 I'm so happy for you! Quite a few ppl on here have said that it happened when they got referred for treatment so there must be something in it! Hope things are still going well for you 😊

And thanks @Carley321 - it's definitely easier said than done! At the end of last cycle I just got so fed up of concentrating on everything I was doing, and remembering vits and tea, timing sex and limiting exercise (but not too much), and limiting alcohol and sugar...aghh!! So basically I reached my limit! So I guess you will know when you've reached yours 😊 We're going to do this month really relaxed, and then both agreed that the next step is seeing the GP 🤞

Carley321 · 11/06/2019 19:06

I am with you on that feeling @PineappleC I am so fed up of watching every little thing and then if I do have a treat end up having to deal with the guilt. It’s crazy. I’m just thinking we’ll.... people fall pregnant every bloody where and I’m pretty sure they don’t all live by these demanding and unenjoyable rules. So I’m still focussing in ttc but until it actually happens, if I want a treat i’ll Have one! I’m also determined to actually think about something other than ttc, 🤞🤞. I can hope lol x

Tryingforkittens · 12/06/2019 07:29

Only two days to go until my GP appointment. This is the first time im going for TTC and want to focus it on the spotting I have after ovulation. Any tips on what I should ask for or say? My goal is to get blood tests.

Thanks

Goodyear2019 · 12/06/2019 09:41

@Tryingforkittens good luck for your GP appointment. I don't have any tips as I never know what to ask! I've just had my 21 day blood test and waiting for those results. My DH has been in for his tests, but those take up to 3 weeks to come back.

KatBeCool · 12/06/2019 09:46

@Tryingforkittens blood tests is definitely a you want. Ask for your vitamin D levels to be tested, and, if possible, iodine. I never had my iodine checked but I wish I did as its deficiency is one of the possible reasons for hypothyroidism which I do have. When the results are in, get a copy for yourself. Mainly you want to see your TSH levels.

Tryingforkittens · 13/06/2019 19:54

Thanks! I'll let you know how it goes.

MrsChicken89 · 13/06/2019 20:06

Hi ladies, can I join in?
I'm on cycle 15 of ttc, in the fertile week. Out of the 14 so far I'd say 12 have been spot on with timings.

This week I was told 2 friends are pregnant, one after only 2 months with her 2nd. It sent me in to a downward spiral, and I've been feeling shit ever since. I've given up hope of it ever happening to us, imagining ever getting a positive has gone.
We've had tests done and all is fine, so it's just down to luck really.

KatBeCool · 13/06/2019 20:39

@MrsChicken89 welcome!

AF wasn't starting for me, had to schedule a blood test so I'm not taking progesterone for no reason. Came home and started spotting, of course. Blood test negative, but I already knew that.

Debating what to do... Try another Clomid month, or go in for more testing, different medications, etc. It'd be my 4th cycle on Clomid and there are plenty of success stories from fourth cycles. I'm leaning towards giving Clomid another chance, plus going to repeat all the supplements.

Goodyear2019 · 14/06/2019 09:15

@KatBeCool sorry to hear that. Whatever you decide to try for your next cycle I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Welcome @MrsChicken89 I totally feel your pain. We've been ttc for 13 cycles now. Loads of our friends and family have announced pregnancies/had their babies since we started and it is really hard. Of course I'm happy for them but it does start to feel like everyone is the world is able to get pregnant and it makes you think, why not me?! I know it's easier said than done but you've just got to stay positive, maybe plan nice things for you to do to take your mind off of it.

Goodyear2019 · 14/06/2019 09:18

I'm feeling a bit gutted today. My two apps were predicting AF either Wednesday or today. I'd had most of my usual pre-AF symptoms but no spotting (which I usually get for a few days prior to AF) so did a test this morning but it was a bfn! If AF doesn't start I'll test again. My cycle is usually super regular with all the same symptoms so had really got my hopes up that this was my month :-(

Carley321 · 14/06/2019 18:58

Evening all. Hope you all have lovely plans for the weekend.

Cd12 for me lots of O symptoms but no lines on the opks.

I know how you feel @mrschicken89 I feel the same. We’ve been ttc for a year now and it’s getting boring and miserable. But I hear of so many people catching after a long slog of trying. So trying to stay positive.

Iv been obsessed with it all but this month I’m trying my danders to just be laid back and give up all of the ttc and what if madness. It’s worth a go! X

KatBeCool · 14/06/2019 20:07

@Goodyear2019 I'm sorry, hopefully she doesn't come. I never have any symptoms so it's not helpful at all.

CD1 for me today. She sure took her time to show up.

Tryingforkittens · 14/06/2019 21:36

So I had my appointment today. I'm having the day 3 and 21 bloods as well as a scan. She has also suggested sperm analysis for my husband.

I'm happy to get the tests requested. I've booked an appointment for 3 weeks to discuss the results because I never have much luck calling in.

FlapJackered · 16/06/2019 10:38

Just checking in to see how you're all doing?
I am not sure the break from Mumsnet has made me any more chilled.
I had my weigh in and had miraculously put on 9kg 😂 ...absolutely nothing to do with the bags of sugar in my pocket, coat and boots!
I have my private consultation on Friday so I am looking forward to seeing what he says.
I have been raging internally the last few days as I am being told I should relax by everyone and that that is probably what is stopping me getting pregnant, and then also pretty much stopped alcohol and changed all products to natural, eating organic, supplements... (the list goes on) and yet the nurse who got Ebola has just had twins and a lady who survived Chernobyl manages to get pregnant after 😩😂. Don't get me wrong that is really so great for them and would not want to go through what they have but it's just hard to understand why it can happen for some people and not for others. Sorry! Rant over!!

@Tryingforkittens that is great news you have the tests booked in. It is good to know where you stand with it all, I hope you get some answers.

@KatBeCool sorry for AF. That did take a while. I hope you're feeling ok about it all and not as ragey as me! 😂 What is the next step? Are you trying Clomid again this cycle?

@Carley321 it is so hard to be laid back isn't it. I am trying meditation this month but so far I don't feel like it is making a difference.

@Goodyear2019 sorry for the bfn. It is so heartbreaking. Has AF shown up for you yet?

@MrsChicken89 welcome, it sounds like you're in a similar boat to me. I have been ttc for 14 months. Most of my best friends are currently pregnant and all got pregnant straight away. It is SO hard but we have just got to keep trying.
