Does anyone want to join?

I have been TTC #1 for 15 months and had a MC at 8 weeks in February.
I am off to the GP tomorrow to try and get a referral to a reproductive endocrinologist.
Tried every trick and tip and old wives tale in the book to get a bfp!
It would be good to have a group of longer term ttcers to chat to.

Hi ladies.

So I just called the doctors up they said both my blood results are in. My first blood test result, day 5 one she said the doctor has put a note on system to call him. I explained I’ll come in with DH one day as that’s what he told me to do when I saw him. Second one she said day 21 is normal but what’s normal ?
Also DH called regarding his sperm analysis he went 2 weeks ago today and his results still aren’t in! How much longer will this one be!! Now I feel worried about my first blood test and the GP I want to see is on annual leave this week so will wait till next week and hopefully by then DH results will be in too.

FlapJackered · 28/05/2019 19:39

@PineappleC I'm sorry, it's so frustrating when your body seems to work against you. If I were you I would book an appointment with the GP. I think peace of mind is worth a lot.

@Mrs71 that actually is good news your 21 bloods are normal as it probably means your progesterone is high enough to confirm you have ovulated. I know what it's like though, it's so hard not to worry! You could request a print out and then at least you will know what the problem is and won't have to wait for the appointment? Have you had your thyroid checked before as it may be that which is a bit high? Try not to worry though, as I remember most things they test for on day 3 are more easily fixable than the day 21.

Mrs71 · 28/05/2019 20:11

@Flapjackered would that just come back like normal though? I did have my thyroid checked a really long time ago when I was younger probably 10 years ago was all fine then. I didn’t know I could ask for a print out but I won’t know what the stuff means anyway. I’ll try not to worry as I’ll make an appointment for Monday but I need DH sperm analysis results to be in! I thought they would be by now it’s been 2 weeks today.

Newbie21 · 28/05/2019 20:37

@Mrs71 my DH's sperm results took 7 working days. They are in apparently and doctor analysing and then will call she tomorrow apparently to discuss. GP initially phoned DH this morning to ask him if he had been for the test?!? And my she said yes and I was going to call you for the results so they then followed up with the test clinic so maybe you should put a bit of pressure on gp to follow up.

Newbie21 · 28/05/2019 20:38

I only went for my day 21 test on Friday but maybe I will try and call tomorrow and see if they are in but I think they will take about 5 days.

Newbie21 · 28/05/2019 20:44

When do you ladies test? I said I'd make it a rule that I'd wait until I'm a week overdue. However, tomorrow I'll be 10dpo and on Thursday I have a drinks event with work so thinking maybe I should test before. The chances are slim to none but I was walking to the train earlier and I suddenly had a feeling that I felt pregnant - like a weird tight feeling like something is there. Now I know this is totally ridiculous and I'm pretty sure it is wishful thinking as everything else is the same as any other month. Maybe I'm just hungry, lol.

PineappleC · 28/05/2019 21:15

Thanks very much every9ne for your reassurance xx We were planning on going to GPs at end of this month but I might go before so that I can potentially do the blood tests you guys have mentioned next cycle. We're going on holiday this weekend for a week, so by the time we get back it'll pretty much be the end of this cycle anyway, and I will book an appt then xx

Mrs71 · 28/05/2019 21:35

@Newbie21 I will chase the GP up at the end of the week if they’re still not in. I really hope they are though 🤞. Worth giving them a call as I only had mine done on Saturday and they were back today. I don’t test I used to when first started ttc but I just hate seeing a BFN and always think it will be then AF arrives anyway. I hate getting my hopes up, today I kept tasting blood in my mouth but I have had a really bad cough so probably is nothing and my boobs hurt slightly when I’m running down the stairs. 😂 Everyone is different though if you want to test then do one you never know it might be a BFP. I hope it is for you.

Mrs71 · 28/05/2019 21:38

@PineappleC your welcome we all have to keep each going. You never know you might even fall pregnant on holiday and get your BFP before then. After going to the GP I felt relieved so I think it might do you some good and you’ll feel better about it all, I certainly did. x

FlapJackered · 28/05/2019 21:44

@Newbie21 I try to only test if AF is two days late, although some cycles I have been stupid and tested before and regretted it. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Generally I don't need to test as my temp drops and tells me af is approaching.
I am going to be in the same situation as you this cycle as I am due to go out to a party the day AF is due, so I probably will test that morning if no temp drop.

@Mrs71 yes it's your legal right to have them printed (although they do sometimes grumble about it 🙄) I get all of mine printed as it is quite useful if you end up going private etc I also am a bit mistrusting of GPs when it comes to interpretation as unless it is something glaringly obvious they don't always spot issues. They missed my thyroid problem first time.
If all your levels are within their 'normal' range then they will just say your test was normal. Just watch out for the thyroid tsh score, make sure you find out the number as GPs say anything under 5 is normal, but for ttc it should be between 0-2.50.

Mrs71 · 29/05/2019 01:21

@Flapjackered thank you for the info! I will try my best to get a print out. I’m cd 24 and getting so many twinges and cramps.

Newbie21 · 29/05/2019 05:57

I only have CB tests and they are 25mlu and there is definitely a faint line. I need to get a FRER for tomorrow morning maybe as I've heard lots about false positives etc although it not ever happened to me.

FlapJackered · 29/05/2019 07:21

@Newbie21 oh my god! That is very exciting! Keeping everything crossed for you! 🤞🏻 yes definitely get a frer! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

@Mrs71 not long to wait! Hopefully this is our lucky cycle on this thread. I am 3dpo today so I have got the long wait now. It goes so slowly!

OP posts:
Goodyear2019 · 29/05/2019 09:10

@Newbie21 that sounds promising, fingers crossed, let us know how you get on with the FRER!
@FlapJackered thanks for the info about getting test results printed, I didn't know you could ask. I'm definitely going to do that.

FlapJackered · 29/05/2019 10:08

@Goodyear2019 I didn't know either until a few years ago, sometimes they can be a bit grumpy about printing them and ask why you need them. They shouldn't really ask this as it is your right to have them. However just to avoid the argument I normally just say I am seeing a specialist privately so need the results printed!

OP posts:
Goodyear2019 · 29/05/2019 11:22

Oh dear, one of the receptionists at my GP surgery is grumpy enough on a normal day, dread to thin what she'll be like when I ask for them to be printed haha!

Mrs71 · 29/05/2019 15:22

@Newbie21 oh wow that sounds promising. Let us know! 🤞🤞🤞🤞

@Goodyear2019 same as mine but I’m going to say going private like Flapjackered said so hopefully shouldn’t be a problem. I called the clinic today where DH went for his test, they said they’re emailing the results over this afternoon and will be there by this evening. I’m going to make an appointment with the GP for Monday as he’ll be back then to speak about all the results.

@Flapjackred hopefully time will go quick for you. My cycle has gone pretty quick this month but I have been quite busy with work. My boobs ache so much but I don’t want to get my hopes up at all, this happened to me a few cycles ago and AF turned up. Even though my boobs rarely hurt when I got AF symptoms.

BabySquid · 29/05/2019 16:49

Hi ladies 👋🏻 had another month of trying to forget about TTC and putting pressure on us, but as it's only 4 days till AF is due, thought I'd pop back on and see how everyone is doing.
For those that don't know me, I'm 29, TTC month 14 with an early mc month 4.
I went and had my day 3 bloods and the results came back 'normal' going to request a copy of them next time I'm in though. DH has just been today for his SA and they said his gp will have the results by tomorrow morning, so he can give them to my gp to put on our referral form for the fertility clinic. But 🤞🏻we won't need to go that far.

I'm having to test early this month coz I'm on a stag do Friday and away Saturday night, but DH did a mental tally of all the coffee/caffeine in general he drinks, and was astounded, so has completely cut it out this month... see if it's made a difference??

Going to try keep up with this thread as I really enjoy talking to you ladies about everything going on the world on ttc! It's hard talking to others.

Luck to all XxX

bunhead34 · 29/05/2019 19:41

@Newbie21 that's good news, fingers crossed for you 🤞

I'm ov today according to glow app, but not doing opk this month so not sure. Do not have the energy to dtd today! But have the last 3 days. And will tomorrow and every other day for a week or so just in case. I hope that's enough!

Might have to test early this month, as at a wedding 4days before af due. With My luck af will show her face well before that anyway 😭

Tryingforkittens · 29/05/2019 21:00

Hi All,

I'm cycle day 2 today. But because of the spotting already the 9th day of bleeding :( counting down the days until my GP appointment!

bunhead34 · 29/05/2019 21:25

@Tryingforkittens I get a lot of pre af spotting too, so annoying isn't it 😕

Newbie21 · 29/05/2019 21:46

@Tryingforkittens spotting is so frustrating. I've had it every cycle since last MC and it gets quite upsetting.

Thanks everyone for the good lucks. I worry each time I go to the loo. It's such early days, I'm annoyed at myself for testing. Hubby is still waiting for his SA results, doctor has them and was meant to call today. DH followed up and they said he would definitely call but he didn't. So annoying. He will try again tomorrow. I said to ask for them to be emailed or printed out for him to pick up so we can share them with our consultant. I've not told the consultant yet about the BFP although maybe I should just in case there is something they can do to help the progesterone if it's low. I'll follow up for my 2nd 21 day test results tomorrow. Would they be a lot higher if I was pregnant or would it be too early so they would just to be high enough to show ovulation?

Newbie21 · 29/05/2019 21:48

@BabySquid we are both due AF same day. Good luck to you. Let's home she's a no show!

Mrs71 · 29/05/2019 22:04

@babysqhid Good luck hope AF stays away for you. I also love this thread as it’s nice place to talk about all the shit things but yet people understand.

@Newbie21 I really hope AF stays away for you and you get your BFP! I’m going to the GP ok Monday to get all results and print outs.

@bunhead34 I got spotting last month a whole week before AF came. I had loads just for one day then nothing for 6 days then AF came 🙄

Mrs71 · 29/05/2019 22:05

@Tryingforkittens good luck with the GP.
