Is it me or does number 2 seem to take longer to conceive?

@nespressowoo hey! I can see a line xx

Goldendust · 17/04/2019 12:11

@crazychemist hey!! My AF decided to turn up on Saturday! Was so upset!
Currently on CD 5 now 😢

nespressowoo · 17/04/2019 17:51

Hey @Goldendust sorry to hear about your AF. It's like a massive kick isn't it. Sending lots of luck for this one.

I have just done another test and thought it looked similar but I am sure I just have line eyes. Only got FRERs left now so leaving them for now x

crazychemist · 17/04/2019 18:59

Oh wow, nespresso, that looks promising! Fingers crossed!

Sorry to hear about AF goldendust, start counting again Smile a new cycle a new opportunity.

Finally got a smidge of a line on today’s OPK. Alas we’re all ill! DH is currently on the sofa in a ski jacket and gloves with a pile of blankets over him while I’ve got a semi conscious DD on my lap who hasn’t budged for the last four hours...... this is not the plan! I don’t think binge watching Disney is going to get us a bfp.

NoMorePeppaPigffs · 18/04/2019 07:44

Hey Ladies- wanted to add my two pennies’ worth. Decided to try for no 2 end of last year (had copper coil removed) and was convinced it would happen immediately as No 1 did (few weeks and 33 at time)... it didn’t. I was distraught as once you’ve decided it’s what you want, you can only base it (and do!) I suppose on last time. I’m 36 now so I’d totally convinced myself it was my increased age, perhaps needed to give up everything/anything bad in diet/alcohol etc, perhaps secondary infertility, karma as happened quickly the first time etc etc etc. It did happen after 2 periods (so 3rd cycle) and only things I changed were not drinking copious amounts (don’t know if had any bearing) and to take 800 rather then 400 of folic acid as heard an increased amount can help for conception. Also used clear blue digital ovulation tests and fortunately worked for me. I’m 11 weeks now and have had an early scan and all ok (main one due to have in couple of weeks) but I’m terrified of all going wrong as wanted so so much. As for the test had a faint line and convinced wasn’t there lol until my husband looked at me strangely and said ‘but it’s there..?! Why are you upset?’
I suppose my point is (and although my ttc time was short I realise, it felt like absolutely forever to me) is that it’s true it really is different each time and as they say the past isn’t necessarily a predictor of future. It’s easy to write yourself off and become totally upset, disillusioned and sad but you must try to be rational. I had to tell myself this a fair bit although this whole ‘try not to think about it... relax...’ from the very few people I told.. incensed me! Of course it consumes you. It did me for sure- although I can see how damaging it is/was. Now consumed by the worry of staying pregnant!
You all are different ages on here and there are all different options if doesn’t happen straight away. There’s a next step which the thought, to me, helped and was always there....a plan.
Really do wish everyone lots of luck and strength with the journey.
I hope this helps a little for some people as I really found this forum helpful for info and just simply for support. We are all in this together (sorry for long post...).

nespressowoo · 18/04/2019 07:55

Did a FRER this am, I couldn't resist 🙄 FMU - negative! Never mind.

Hope your DH is better @crazychemist

MummyBearBoo · 18/04/2019 09:50

Mind if I join? Conceived DD while waiting for an appointment for genetic testing IVF (called PGD) due to genetic condition so we were being very careful not to get pregnant! Second time round we planned to start trying the month after not realising we were pregnant unfortunately that little boy had a couple of chromosomal abnormalities including the genetic condition so had to have TFMR at 13 weeks! Now TTC #2 cycle #5 have had 2 CPs one at 4w+4d and one at 3w+5days! My cycle length is now 41 days and am on CD24 ov due CD27/28. I'm 35 in January!

MummyBearBoo · 18/04/2019 10:05

Forgot to mention my whole group of Friends (6 couple) have all had baby number 2 and the only childless couple are due with Twins in March! Likewise my NCT friends have all had second baby along with my SIL they all had them a day to a few weeks after my Little boy was supposed to have been due that was really hard!

Chips4dinneragain · 18/04/2019 12:05

Ah sorry to hear it nespresso although it is still early (obviously not something that's ever stopped me POAS mind).

Hope you're all feeling better chemist , do you think you DTD close enough to the positive OPK to be in with a chance?

Welcome mummybear sorry to hear about your losses, good luck for this cycle.

Ballygowenwater · 18/04/2019 15:27

Period arrived today 3 days early which means I think my cycle is settling back towards 28 days... which would be great if we hadn’t been timing fertile week based on a 30 day cycle 😖

crazychemist · 19/04/2019 13:06

Thanks for your story nomorePeppa, glad that all is going well for you and your bump. Hopefully many of us will soon be in your shoes!

We are all starting to feel better, but not up to dtd so that’s going to put us out of the running for this month. We dtd two days before I had a faint line, so I guess there’s still a tiny possibility, but not much. Oh well, there are too many January birthdays in my family anyway, February would be much better for that!

bally does that mean you definitely missed it? It’s only two days different, might you still have caught it?

Welcome mummybear, so sorry to hear about your losses Flowers. Do you have plenty of support in RL? Are you still planning on using the genetic screening, or sticking to the old fashioned way at the moment?

MummyBearBoo · 19/04/2019 19:11

I would prefer genetic screening but it could end up restricting what we can do with our DD as we have a 'normal child' we are not entitled to any NHS funding and PGD is much more expensive than IVF. It's set by NHS England and is £15k per cycle and goes up every year with it having a 1 in 3 success rate that's £45k! Xx

sassenach84 · 20/04/2019 07:29

Hi ladies, apologies for the radio silence for the last week. DH was away so I've been down in the trenches looking after DD and trying to study for my masters.

How is everyone enjoying the long weekend? @crazychemist sorry to hear you've all been so ill! That sounds miserable

@Chips4dinneragain How are you feeling? Feel like it's sunk in yet?

@MummyBearBoo Very sorry to hear about the difficulties you've had. As if just regular TTC wasn't already hard enough. Sending you extra strength and positive thoughts.

Sorry to hear about the AFs. At my end I'm symptom spotting like crazy. Small twitches in the abdomen a few days ago, not sure I should read into it. Last pregnancy I had implantation bleeding CD 6-CD10 which was a telltale sign in retrospect since would have been too early for AF. Today I'm 9DPO and feeling a bit queasy. Might be all the Easter eggs I ate though Hmm I had zero nausea during last pregnancy. So far resisting POAS as AF due in one or two days anyway... it's a long weekend though so not sure! I did have a dream I was pregnant though lol

MummyBearBoo · 20/04/2019 07:39

Thanks everyone - still waiting for a positive OPK I keep getting a faint line so end up DTD every night coz usually I get the faint line day before I get positive OPK but it was negative again this morning with another very faint line!! Good luck to everyone! Xx

sassenach84 · 20/04/2019 08:53

I've been feeling nauseous all morning which is very unusual so decided to POAS... am I seeing something here!?

TTC number 2
Ballygowenwater · 20/04/2019 09:06

I see something then Sassenach! Also I’m curious about your username 😊

Chips4dinneragain · 20/04/2019 09:16

Oh sassenach I see something! Eeek! When are you going to bust out a FRER?

I'm also studying for a masters, I'm a bit worried my course lead is going to think it's really flakey to get pregnant in the middle of it, but some things can't wait (as my blood results will attest to!)

WontYouDance · 20/04/2019 10:01

Mind if I join u?

DD is 4 now. We’ve always known we wanted another and wanted only a few years between them. Alas, now on cycle 20 😔 so the small age distance didn’t happen. Beginning to lose hope.

AF due Monday. I normally get a belter of a migraine and really sore boobs exactly the week before I’m due, but I didn’t last week. I use Ovia, so got a surprise this morning when I had the ‘is your period here’ email. I don’t track religiously as I don’t want to stress out about it all. We’re going on holiday in July and if we haven’t had any luck by then it’s off to the docs for some tests (will be 2 years come August)

I suspect where my problems lie. I have Crohn’s disease and when DD was 8 weeks, my bowel perforated and I needed 2 lots of major emergency surgery to remove my large bowel completely. I now have a stoma, and a hernia, and I get the feeling my complete stomach area is fucked with scar tissue. I’ve mentioned it to my surgeon and consultant and they’ve both said it’s still early days after surgery (4 years?!) and keep trying. Limited on time though as I need more surgery which will make it even harder to conceive.

Sorry for the novel! Good luck everyone

sassenach84 · 20/04/2019 10:24

I can't find a FRER anywhere local!! I think I might be forced to just wait till I get a stronger line. Haven't shown it to DH yet as I'm weird like that and want to be sure first.

I took a year out from my masters when having DD so I hope I can wrap it up before #2!

Really surprised at this -potential- line though, considering we DTD before I got a positive OPK. I did get the positive 12h after DTD and still again the following day but thought we were likely too early.

MummyBearBoo · 20/04/2019 10:40

You could order a FRER from Amazon they're cheaper too xx

sassenach84 · 20/04/2019 11:04

@MummyBearBoo thanks that's not a bad idea!

sassenach84 · 20/04/2019 11:20

Well I think this is more than a squinter Shock

TTC number 2
Chips4dinneragain · 20/04/2019 11:34

Whaaaaat?!? Congrats sassenach that a clear BFP! What a lovely bank holiday weekend you've got ahead of you Grin

Welcome wontyou sounds like it's been a stressful journey for you so far, good luck.

sassenach84 · 20/04/2019 16:49

Thanks @Chips4dinneragain Blush Im still playing it down a bit and trying to keep my cool...

Did you stop the vitamin B and C when you got your BFP?

Chips4dinneragain · 20/04/2019 17:29

Understandable when youve been trying a while sassenach feels a bit surreal to finally see those lines. I've found it much more intense than when I got my BFP with DD, I've really struggled to not freak out over every minor change in symptoms, as I guess you've gathered by my insane posting on this thread.

I've continued taking them but am going to run it past my GP when I see her on Wednesday, will let you know what she says. From what I've read (admittedly other people's experiences not actual research) other people's doctors have said B50 is fine but the higher ones like B100 would need to be reduced.
