Is it me or does number 2 seem to take longer to conceive?

Hey there's a FRER pic in the convo that you posted on Wednesday and today's looks much darker!

Ballygowenwater · 08/04/2019 16:29

Not sure if it’s too early to join you guys as we literally started trying last month and currently apparently ovulating again so I guess on cycle 2? My DD is just turned 2.

Chips4dinneragain · 08/04/2019 16:38

Thanks sassenach

You're right, those two do look quite different which gives me some hope. On my way home now so will probably be spending all evening obsessively staring at them. Yes still feeling sick with sore boobs which is a good sign. Don't think I've ever wanted a gin so bad as I do right now!

Thanks for your support, my head probably would have exploded if I'd not had this thread to go full batshit on!

crazychemist · 08/04/2019 17:43

Oh chips I do hope that’s positive! It does look like it is. Fingers crossed that it was a bad bunch of internet cheapies! I’m amazed at you holding off on FRER this long, I’d suggest you grab a couple and do them all in the morning! But it definitely looks like a decent line to me. How many dpo would you be by now, I’ve lost track? Sore boobs sounds very promising, fingers crossed! Let us know tomorrow!

Welcome to newcomers! Get ready to obsessively track symptoms with the rest of us Grin

Nightweaning not going fabulously, but not awful either. If I cosleep with DD then she’ll nod back off with a cuddle. Sometimes she’ll do it for DH, but normally wants at least one proper feed during the night. She’s always been a very long way behind her age in terms of sleep milestones, so I didn’t expect her to manage it easily. I’m still hoping to make progress by Easter weekend if possible. Fingers crossed for me!

First day using OPKs today. Negative as expected for today (it’s somewhere between cd6&10, start of cycle was a bit all over the place). I know they will always EVENTUALLY show up a second line (because you always have a smidge of LH at any part of your cycle). How quick is it to count as a positive? On the pack it says 10 minutes, but what’s a sort of normal time? The control line was less than a minute, do they appear at roughly the same time if it’s positive?

Sneakily dtd during DDs nap. Hoping to take full advantage of me and DH both being on school hols during predicted fertile window! Seemed very odd, can’t remember the last time we dtd during daylight... definitely not since we had DD, so I felt a little self conscious.

sassenach84 · 08/04/2019 18:17

@Chips4dinneragain Feel free to update us at any time! I'm in between Netflix series at the moment so binging on MN instead

@crazychemist How often does your DD feed at night? Would it be worth dream feeding her and maybe that way extend the times between feeds? being successful might also depend on whether she might need it to keep her tummy full or not.

Daytime DTD oh my gosh I can't even imagine it - it's a vague memory of my youth lol. Well done for getting started so well on FW!

So far I haven't gotten a positive on OPK during this FW, supposed to be OV tomorrow and as luck would have it DH leaves for work trip tomorrow morning. Will still DTD tonight but I'm not convinced of the likelihood of success this cycle. I usually have two days of positive OPK so who know when I'll OV... oh well!

Explorers10 · 08/04/2019 18:39

@chips4dinneragain what a rollercoaster you have been on. I reckon no more testing on internet cheapies and just go with the FRER otherwise you going to get too anxious. I reckon your definitely pregnant!

Chips4dinneragain · 08/04/2019 19:04

Thanks everyone! Spent a good 30 mins comparing my FRERS and have concluded there is enough of a progression between 7dpo and 12dpo, so I'm stepping away from the tests for now, Ive got one FRER left which I'm going to use on Thursday when AF Is due, by which point I'll be around 15DPO. If it's positive then i will just be presuming I'm pregnant unless a scan/AF tells me otherwise!

sassenach that's odd about your OPKs, maybe you had a short surge this month and missed it?

crazychemist it usually took close to 10 mins for me to get a positive on an OPK, even when I had positives where the test line was significantly darker than the control it rarely looked positive within 3mins and the control line appeared way sooner than the test line.

sassenach84 · 08/04/2019 19:34

@Chips4dinneragain that is excellent news! Pesky dodgy batch getting you all upset for nothing. What a rollercoaster it's been. For us too lol!

Well considering the craziness that's happened to you I can't rule out a short surge. But I reckon I'll get a positive tomorrow and OV is just a few days late.

@crazychemist unlike chips my positives always appear within 1-2min! The control line starts stronger for sure but I see really quickly if the test line is coming through and getting stronger. So clearly there's little pattern and it varies depending on people. This cycle as I haven't seen a positive yet I've been staring at the OPKs much longer, willing the test line but no luck Wink

sassenach84 · 08/04/2019 19:50

What's your pre and post DTD rituals? Any old wives tales that you go with because, well, it can't hurt?

I usually do an OPK just before just to know for sure what's going on, recently use a bit of preseed though not sure if necessary as usually have EWM during FW. Then afterwards I lay down for 20-30min in the hope of helping the little guys out a bit. Then I go for a shower but recently been wondering if I should avoid a hot shower just after Hmm

sassenach84 · 09/04/2019 06:17

Just got a positive OPK, three hours after DH left for a work trip! Oh well, maybe the vitamins I fed him made the swimmers strong as we DTD yesterday.

By the way @crazychemist I saw the test line coming through even before the control line so straight away knew it was positive. Hope that helps though clearly others have had different experiences.

nespressowoo · 09/04/2019 08:41

Big congratulations @Chips4dinneragain ! Lovely news

Day 4 of flashy smiley face today - normally would have had a solid by now. Cheap OPKs negative too - CD12 today. We didn't DTD yesterday but hoping to later.

Chips4dinneragain · 09/04/2019 13:00

Cheers nespresso

sassenach so you're probably ovulating today/tomorrow then, so that's time perfectly. Good luck!

crazychemist · 09/04/2019 16:20

@sassenach84, fingers crossed for you, if you’ve got a positive now and dtd yesterday you’re still in with a chance! How long is he away for his work trip?

Night weaning going disastrously.... not so much the weaning itself (she normally feeds twice a night, but sometimes much more often. I wouldn’t mind once but would prefer none!), but more that the disturbance at night is completely buggering up her routine! She’s never been a great sleeper and seems very sensitive to changes in routine. She would mostly not nap now, except on days that she’s at nursery, but because she’s taking longer to go back to sleep when she wakes at night she’s exhausted during the day and taking a nap that destroys bedtime. I really mean destroys it. Last night she didn’t go to sleep till 3am...... she’s now napping even though it’s ridiuoously late in the day, but I just couldn’t keep her awake any longer as she was abjectly miserable after so little sleep. Bet she’ll be up past midnight again tonight.

Good luck @nespressowoo, sound like good timing for some dtd!

Still not sure I quite understand OPKs, but I guess I’ll work out when it’s different. I get a faint second line appearing about 5 mins in, which doesn’t get any darker. I know you do have some LH present throughout your cycle, so I guess that’s what causes that and I just have to look out for it getting darker. Naively I thought it would be more obviously yes/no than that.

sassenach, is showering after sex a no-no? I can’t see why it would be, but happy to be corrected. We don’t have a ritual as such, I just hope DD doesn’t wake up immediately after! I think decent sperm that are going to be able to swim up to the Fallopian tubes aren’t going to have any difficulty with going uphill anyway,

sassenach84 · 09/04/2019 18:19

@crazychemist oh no, that sounds disastrous for sure! I don't have great tips unfortunately. But if she takes a late nap when tired, could you just try to make it a power nap of 15min so she doesn't sleep too long and ruin her night? My DD wakes up early every day, between 5 and 6am, and usually struggles to make it to her nap at midday. So I often let her power nap in the car or on the breast mid-morning and that seems to give her the extra boost she needs for a couple of more hours.

DH is gone for a week. I do hope we still stand with a chance! I looked at my apps for records of DTD in the last 7 cycles and I don't think we've done too well actually. Usually DTD just twice in FW and we did it 4 times when DD was conceived Confused getting old!

Actually I meant HOT showers... mine are like boiling hot Grin

You'll definitely now when the OPK is different! I'll post a pic of my OPKs that I have from a funky app

sassenach84 · 09/04/2019 18:22

@crazychemist here it is. This has tests from a few days before positive and at the bottom you can see the test that was positive. I had the same faintness in the line for several days and then suddenly today it became dark really fast and started appearing the second the urine reached it and hence appeared even before the control line. Does that help?

TTC number 2
sassenach84 · 10/04/2019 12:31

OV symptom spotting - any experience of OV symptoms such as pain? I'm due to OV today or tomorrow and this morning had an odd pain in the lower abdomen (across the abdomen, not just one one side). Almost like a dull ache one might get before AF. But not sure if it can be OV related since was not on one side.

How is everyone else?

crazychemist · 10/04/2019 13:21

Ah, @sassenach84, that is helpful thanks! I’m a bit of a novice at this side of things. DD is out at nursery today but I’m home and DH should be back after lunch.... if only I could get a nice dark line tomorrow or the day after!

I sometimes get a poking feeling when I think I’m ovulating. It’s uncomfortable, a little bit like a stitch but more localised and not as strong. I don’t know if I always get it though, I don’t alway notice it, and I’ve never noticed it on my right hand side, only ever my left (lots of PCOS in the family, so I’ve always wondered if I have some cysts on that side responding to the hormones...). A friend of mine says she gets it more across the bottom of her uterus and in the middle, almost like a contraction. So who knows? Maybe!

DDs sleep is often disastrous. We get her into a good routine that works, and then when something goes wrong it takes her a week or longer to get back onto routine. DH finds it completely baffling that she’s so sensitive to routine changes, and I’ve got to admit I hadn’t expected it either. DC always find a way to surprise you!

sassenach84 · 10/04/2019 13:36

@crazychemist if only I had known before DD how much time I would spend on googling baby/toddler sleep! And that's with a fairly good sleeper so I can only imagine how baffled you guys must be. But it's great that you've been able to identify the link to routine changes. At least you know what you're dealing with! My DH is clueless when it comes to sleep and routine. Somehow he still seems to be stuck in the newborn stage - if DD as much as yawns he thinks he should put her down for a nap, never mind if it's 7.30am Grin I think he probably learnt so much in the first 3 months of having a baby that he's sick in the same gear and hasn't progressed to living with a toddler. I've ended up putting a schedule on the fridge door with nap and meal times (including what to feed her) but I still get questions on when the nap is due. Oh well, he's pretty good really, wakes up with her at 5.30am every day Smile

Have you considered speaking to a sleep consultant? I did this when I wanted to DD to stop falling asleep on the breast at 8m and it was really valuable.

sassenach84 · 10/04/2019 13:38

*STUCK in the same gear

crazychemist · 10/04/2019 14:00

sassen, I’ve thought about a sleep consultant, but finances are fairly tight at the moment, and would be far more so if I was on maternity leave again (I’m the main earner, if not by very much, and last time I was on maternity leave my pay was still for my full-time wage). She’s not too bad in some ways (unless I compare her to other people’s toddlers!). When she doesn’t nap she goes to bed at a reasonable hour, but then wakes a lot. We’re working on the night wakings with mixed success..... I shouldn’t really complain. I’m so happy to have her, I can manage on the sleep I get.

crazychemist · 11/04/2019 15:32

How’s everyone doing today? Did you get your solid smiley @nespressowoo?

@chipsfordinneragain, I realise you’re probably now spending your time on the pregnancy boards, but I for one would love some vicarious symptoms Grin how are you getting on? Any sickness yet?

@Ballygowenwater I’m guessing you’re in the middle of your tww by now? Symptom spotting like mad, or managing to resist the urge so far? @mrscatmad31, I think you are roughly there in your cycle as well?

crazychemist · 11/04/2019 15:35

I’m still negative on OPKs. Somewhere between day 9&13 on my cycle, so that all ties up. Not a smidge of EWCM either. DH and I are both at home tomorrow while DD is at nursery, so I was really hoping to ov fairly early this time and catch it perfectly! Otherwise we’ll have to hope for some solid napping at the weekend Grin next week will be rather harder to dtd unless DD breaks the habit of a lifetime and sleeps well.

Hope everyone is enjoying the sun Smile. It’s certainly much easier keeping a toddler entertained in this weather!

Ballygowenwater · 11/04/2019 15:39

I’m sorry, what’s TTW? I’ve a long cycle so fertile week atm and then period due around the 26th April. Which is my birthday so a positive result on that day would be fab 😍

crazychemist · 11/04/2019 15:41

Two week wait I.e. between ovulation and being allowed to POAS! Ah, so not yet then. Hope you’re keeping busy this week then!

Ballygowenwater · 11/04/2019 15:56

Lol sorry I’ve just looked back on my app. I am now in the TWW. We’ve still been... keeping busy 😉 anyway just in case. But can prob ease off now 😂
