Is it me or does number 2 seem to take longer to conceive?

@crazychemist

Ive got my letter for scan on 7th may so not long to wait. I’m starting to feel more positive as clearly something worked the 1st time I got pregnant and I can’t see how things have changed massively since then. Maybe I have had this condition all along and not known about it. Seems a lot of people have got pregnant with pcos that’s if I have it so going to try and relax again and try next month plus cut out the carbs and exercise and try proceive vitamins. AF due on Thursday so got to wait another 3 weeks til fertile week.

Now you got the opks, you won’t go back to not testing as it gets addictive. I started using them 2nd cycle so you had more willpower than me! When is your fertile week?

Glad to hear you’ve got your scan date. You may well have had it all along. If an anecdote helps, my DDs godmother has high testosterone. It took her a year to get her DD1, she had to go on a very strict diet (in her case, more fat as her body fat levels were low) and she was ruthless with herself in terms of cutting out caffeine, alcohol etc and making sure she took time to herself to relax. She has just had twin boys and is delighted with her family of 3. It was tough for her, and it took longer than she’d hoped, but in her case it did all work out, and o hope very much it will for you too. Hopefully the scan will give you more information.

I know it gets addictive, I’m so glad my DH was out this morning so he didn’t see I’d got a parcel Blush. OPKs and a pregnancy test hidden behind the tins in the kitchen cupboard! Oh well, I made it to six months before caving!

Not quite sure where my fertile week will be this month. AF has been a bit all over the place this cycle. Late and light this month, spotting from 30th onwards, but I think not proper day 1 till the 3rd and it’s been very stop and start and heavy. That’s why I caved on the OPKs. Monday is either cd6 or cd10 depending on how I count it, so I’ll start testing then and wait and see.

sassenach84 · 06/04/2019 20:02

Hi ladies, sorry for the silence, been busy Think OV is a bit later than expected and might conflict with DH's work trip but we'll try to do all we can until then.

@crazychemist I'm a total OPK believer - despite everything that's been said just recently. Before DD my cycles were all over the place after so many years on the pill, and then since DD while breastfeeding again they've taken some time to normalise. So I just like to use them to understand my cycle. I think I get some weird feeling of success when I see the dark line appear too Funnily enough I don't POAS during the TWW (usually) - maybe because less of a chance of success! Kitchen cupboard is a peculiar place to hide them in though lol

@Explorers10 that's great that your got a date already, 7 May will be here in no time!

nespressowoo · 06/04/2019 20:05

Hello ladies. Can I join? Have a 2 1/2 yr old and been trying for over a year. Did catch this time last year once I stopped BF but went on to lose it. Went to GP this week who is doing my bloods. It's soul destroying every month that passes by. I'm 32.

sassenach84 · 06/04/2019 20:10

@nespressowoo So very to hear about your loss. And to rub salt in the wound your loss probably didn't help getting the hormones back to normal after BF either :-( It's tough isn't it.

But going to the GP will be the first step to some answers and hopefully a solution! Did you conceive your first easily?

nespressowoo · 06/04/2019 20:32

Hi @sassenach84 thank you. It was a big surprise falling pregnant but we were over the moon. It was very hard - getting a bit easier now but my friend also conceived at the same time so when I see her it's like a constant reminder.

Yes - with my first I came off the pill 'just to see what happens' in the August and fell pregnant in the Feb - I had missed two periods and not even twigged due to house move and new job. It wasn't til they started asking about children I then remembered I'd not come on for ages Shock

I have spent a small fortune on OPKs, pregnancy tests, pre-seed etc - currently in fertile window so hoping but resigning myself to the fact it probably won't work.

How are you getting on? Have you been to GP?

Explorers10 · 06/04/2019 21:34

@crazychemist thank you for sharing your dd godmother situation. That’s so good it worked out for her in the end and twins as well! miracles do happen! I really hope by myself making small adjustments to diet and exercise and relaxing will help. And oh no let’s hope your DH doesn’t find them in the kitchen cupboard!

@sassenach84 thank you yes just a month to wait so hopefully get an answer to yes or no to pcos and then closer to the next step

@nespressowoo
Really sorry to hear about your loss. The constant reminder must be so difficult for you too. Who would have known TTC number 2 would be so hard. I know the feeling of spending a small fortune on everything as you doing all you can within your control. Try to be positive and kind to yourself. My GP said I needed to relax a bit more.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for checking in crazyxhemist unfortunately I'm not doing so well, pregnancy symptoms were replaced by AF symptoms yesterday and got negative tests last night and this morning, so now just waiting for AF to arrive. A bit gutted by my first experience of a chemical pregnancy, but trying to look on the positive side - I clearly am ovulating!

explorers that's good news about your scan date, not too long to wait.

sassenach im still an OPK believer too despite my recent experience, and even if I wasn't I've still got about 30 of them so will definitely be using them as I hate waste!!! Will be making sure I DTD regularly either side of my predicted fertile window anyway from now on!

Welcome nespresso sorry you find yourself here too.

crazychemist · 07/04/2019 09:06

Oh, @Chipsfordinneragain, I’m so sorry. That’s really crap Flowers. I’m glad that you can look on the bright side a bit, but you must be totally gutted. I hope Your DH is being kind to you.

Welcome @nespressowoo. Pull up a chair and a Brew. Sorry to hear about your loss, the reminder must be pretty painful.

@sassenach84, your still bfing, right? How does your little one sleep? (Having a go at night weaning at the moment, so If you have any amazing tips I’m all ears!)

Explorers10 · 07/04/2019 09:49

@chipsfordinneragain

Im so sorry to hear this. This is heartbreaking. Your so strong seeing the positive. I hope today you be ok. If you need anything we are all here for a chat.

Thanks both, it's very disappointing but id suspected it was happening for about the last 48hrs, so in a way the negative tests this morning gave me a sense of relief in terms of putting and end to the fretting. Now just stuck in limbo waiting for AF which is a bit of a killer, luckily been busy today and got plans tomorrow. Both DH and I agreed we would rather have had the chemical pregnancy than no pregnancy at all as now we I know I can ovulate!

sassenach84 · 07/04/2019 19:06

@Chips4dinneragain oh no I'm so so sorry to hear that, what a crushing disappointment. Though I'm very impressed at your positivity and indeed you now have proof that things are working as they should! Take care of yourself now x

@crazychemist I'm breastfeeding yes but not at night time, not since she was 8 months actually so I'm short on tips unfortunately! At 8 months I had to 'sleep train' her which essentially meant not letting her fall asleep on the breast, as it stopped working and she would always wake up when I laid her down. So after that she has pretty much slept through the night. How often do you still BF during the night and day? I BF maybe 4 times a day, she keeps asking and I don't have the heart to say no. It's also a nice way to chill together. I hope my bloods don't end up indicating that I should reduce it as I would struggle with that. I don't mind stopping, I just don't want to see her cry about it Sad I should have stopped when she turned 1 tbh as she was naturally reducing then and didn't yet ask. I'll know now with the next one Grin

nespressowoo · 07/04/2019 19:19

Evening ladies. Thanks for the welcome. Busy day with our boisterous toddler today. Just done another cleablue opk and flashy smiley (same this am and yesterday) trying to persuade DH to DTD as I know we will be too tired tomorrow after work.

Thanks
mrscatmad31 · 07/04/2019 19:20

Hi, hope you don't mind me joining,
I have just turned 35 and TTC number 2, actually started TTC a year ago but have stopped and started due to work/financial issues, first time got pregnant the second cycle so taking longer this time

nespressowoo · 07/04/2019 19:20

Hi @Chips4dinneragain sorry to hear of your chemical. It's a mixture of emotions isn't it. Take it easy x

Chips4dinneragain · 07/04/2019 20:09

thanks sassenach and nespresso I've spent today consuming large quantities of coffee, soft cheese and about to start on the wine.

Welcome mrscatmad welcome to the mid-thirties table! Where are you at in your cycle?

crazychemist it was a long time ago, but when I night weened DD we basically had 1 night of me singing her to sleep and then cuddling+singing when she woke up. We all coslept then though so it wasn't too bad, had one night where she cried, but it was more rage then distressed, and the next night there were no tears. Can't remember how old your LO is but DD was coming up to 2, maybe 20 months or so, so I had explained to her in a very basic way that there would be no milk at night time. She took it surprisingly well considering she was still breast feeding constantly quite a bit.

mrscatmad31 · 07/04/2019 21:26

Chips4dinneragain I'm in my fertile period, two weeks until AF is due! So hoping to DTD tonight

Chips4dinneragain · 08/04/2019 07:21

Morning all,

Just checking in for my regular update of "how the fuck is this possible???" help.

So after several stark BFNs on ICs on Saturday night and Sunday morning, I was up all through the night feeling extremely nauseous and woke up this morning with really sore boobs. Unable to eat breakfast this morning due to feeling so sick and feeling very reminiscent of early pregnancy with DD. No sign of AF and period pains all but disappeared since yesterday morning.

Did a test and it was BFP, came up quicker and clearer than my other early ones!! WTF?!? I definitely feel pregnant, more so than earlier in the week.

Been wracking my brains trying to figure this out, all I can conclude is I had a batch of dud ICs in the middle of my highest Amazon bulk buy.

TTC number 2
sassenach84 · 08/04/2019 11:06

@Chips4dinneragain that is def positive but so weird. Seems like your body is looking to keep us all on our toes! It clearly is not a fan of OPKs or POAS Grin First the super early BFP and now this! Would it be worth going to see your GP to see if they can shed some light?

sassenach84 · 08/04/2019 11:06

Also @Chips4dinneragain YAY! Smile

Chips4dinneragain · 08/04/2019 11:20

I feel like I'm going mad! Got a go appointment on 24th anyway as called up at the end of last week to cancel the fertility referral and was told to book an appointment then to speak to the referring gp.

Just bought a frer and going to use this afternoon to confirm. Really trying not to get my hopes back up as I'm starting to doubt the quality of the internet cheepies!

sassenach84 · 08/04/2019 13:53

I'm impressed at your will power for not having gotten a FRER already! Grin Let us know what it says - we're on the edge of our seats here!

Chips4dinneragain · 08/04/2019 14:29

OK, feeling pretty stressry right now. Got a clear positive on the frer, but it looks the same colour as the one I took last thursday. Surely life could not be so cruel as for me to be actually be having a chemical pregnancy after the rollercoaster of the last week?!? Well anyway I bought aa Frer twin pack today so still got one left which I'll do in 48hrs to see where I'm at. Not sure I can cope with the ups and downs of this much longer!

Chips4dinneragain · 08/04/2019 14:35

Unfortunately I'm work but no doubt I'll be fishing lasts weeks test out the bin when I get home to compare [embarrassed]

That does look like a very good line though! Still feeling the same symptoms? We're rooting for you!
