Is it me or does number 2 seem to take longer to conceive?

Hi zoo that missing period situation sounds very frustrating! There is a conversation a bit earlier in the thread about vitamin C and B6/B12 that you might find useful.

I had positive OPKs all of Friday and Saturday (tested 8am and 7pm), negatives Thursday evening and today so presuming my peak was Saturday morning, I've read that average OV can take place as early as 12hrs after first positive or 48hrs after peak, so guess OV is any time between midday Friday and Monday morning. Judging by symptoms I'm guessing it was yesterday at some point, obviously that's if it actually happened at all....

sassenach84 · 31/03/2019 14:00

That's a really useful summary of the likely OV time based on OPKs, thanks chips. I too had read varying pieces of information on when OV takes place from the positive OPK, ranging from 12 to 48h and depending on the timing of first positive. I usually get two days worth of positive OPKs as well.

Did you manage to DTD?

I'm entering FW on Wednesday - DH is ready and willing and made sure he's not travelling, I bought vitamins for us both... the recipe for romance Wink

Chips4dinneragain · 31/03/2019 14:37

Managed to DTD Friday and Saturday night, aiming to again tonight, and if I can cope then on Monday too. If I ovulated on Friday then I reckon I probably missed it as had quite a gap before, but hoping we've done enough. No room for romance here, just ruthless military style calculations and planning!

Unfortunately no amount of planning is going to help if I'm not ovulating, but deciding just to park that until I've had absolute confirmation one way or another.

When's AF due for you? I'm due 12th April.

crazychemist · 31/03/2019 14:45

Good luck @chipsfordinneragain, hope you’re not feeling too tired! That sounds like a fairly impressive weekend shagathon for someone with DC! Grin Especially with the lost hour for the clocks.

@Sassenach84 good luck for next week! Glad to hear DH is going to be at home and on board with it.

@zoo18, I take the pregnacare vits. They have preconception ones, I took them before I had DD, I take the bfing ones now and will do till they run out.

Feeling far more positive about the whole process today. No idea why, but I hope it lasts!

sassenach84 · 31/03/2019 17:13

Crazy keep going with the positivity! That's great stuff.

Chips that's a commendable DTD effort, well done Smile

DH went to his doctor today to see about some tests and the doctor just stated that he's fairly sure we're not being successful because I'm BF which seems like a bit of an off the cuff comment to make. AND he then said that I should stop BF our 18month old before it causes any mental issues eg separation anxiety. I don't know this doctor but feel like going over and having some words! Anyhoo DH will get some tests done regardless.

Chips4dinneragain · 31/03/2019 17:39

Thanks for all the cheering on Grin

crazychemist Im Impressed you manage any positivity at all with a 2.5 year old!

sassenach that is outrageous, pretty sure World Health Org guidance is 2 years BF for mother and infant to get full benefits, he sounds like a bit of a twat Maverick. At least DH is getting some tests though. My DH also has to give a sample as part of the standard fertility referral, but I think the sample has to be given after a few days of DTD abstinence so will have to wait until we are out of the fertile window.

sassenach84 · 31/03/2019 17:52

I quoted the WHO recommendation to DH too when he told me what the doctor said! I can only assume it was a case of mansplaining on the part of the doctor... ridiculous.

Explorers10 · 31/03/2019 19:07

@chipsfordinner that’s good that you still continuing to persevere. I think that’s what I need to do too as until I have the scan I may be worrying about nothing. We live in hope!

Happy mother’s Day to everyone.

@sassenach84 what does BF stand for?

Thanks ladies

I've got some maca root to take too as I took it last time along with acupuncture, DTD everyday and was the month I got pregnant after over 2 years of trying.

I've never properly used ovulation sticks and only used the app to track but I've ordered a load of cheap ones so as soon as AF turns up and can start my cycle Again il start tracking ovulation.

Also order a BBT for temp so just need AF to turn up now 🙈.

Chips4dinneragain · 31/03/2019 20:50

BF is breastfeeding explorers

Hope you've had a lovely day with your DD.

I have decided to adopt the attitude of 'you've got to be in it to win it' - DTD might not get me pregnant, but not DTD definitely won't get me pregnant. Also trying to remember that hormone levels fluctuate from cycle to cycle and the next one might be a bit more conducive to pregnancy, maybe....

zoo you DTD every day for a month?!? I'm very impressed, I'm already thinking of backing out on my plans for Monday!

zoo18 · 31/03/2019 22:23

@Chips4dinneragain

Haha yes the intention was every day for a month but found out preg On 18th so managed 17 days 🙈🙈. Something that month worked just wish i knew what. Grin

Chips4dinneragain · 01/04/2019 09:36

I've not heard of maca root zoo where do you get it from and how much do you take? Might add it to my ever growing supplement collection

Goldendust · 01/04/2019 09:54

Hello ladies. How are we all today. What day is everyone at. I'm on 2dpo... would like to know if there's anyone around a similar time as me x

sassenach84 · 01/04/2019 12:16

Saw doc today who ordered blood tests for the beginning of next cycle in a few weeks. Now on day 13. She did an ultrasound too and said all looks normal except not ready to ovulate yet. So in the meantime just gearing up for FW in a couple of days.

peasando · 01/04/2019 12:24

@Goldendust I'm at 1dpo and trying hard not to think about it (clearly not going very well given that I'm on a conception board!) How are you? Going to try and hold out until at least 10dpo before testing this month as I always drive myself mad.

zoo18 · 01/04/2019 13:05

The Maca root is from amazon take 1-2 tablets a day, @Chips4dinneragain it's meant to have fertility boosting benefits and men can take it too to boost there fertility.

Hope April is everyone's month for BFP!

Cheers zoo might give it a whirl next cycle, although wouldn't mind if a BFP messed with that plan, obviously Grin

For some ridiculous reason I am feeling optimistic this month, I'm not sure why as the only thing thats different from previous cycles is I've been told I might not be ovulating, so wondering if I might actually be going batshit?!

sassenach84 · 01/04/2019 16:50

You know I don't think you're going batshit. I think the optimism stems from starting to feel in control and finally getting some answers - even if not entirely good news, at least it means you're closer to an answer. I was feeling incredibly positive after leaving the Doctor's office today and I haven't even gotten my bloods done yet. You know you always hear of these couples - I know a few too - who were about to start IVF when they found out they were finally pregnant. Maybe a lot of it is in the mindset too (and not just the stress factor we're always told about). New month, new start!

Explorers10 · 01/04/2019 16:58

@chipa4dinneragain and @sassenach84 You have given me great positivity I’m going to keep trying as you said not doing the deed I won’t get pregnant but if I at least dtd then I got some chance. I’ve googled a lot about pcos that’s if I have it and you can get pregnant just might be more difficult. Victoria Beckham is a pcos example & she’s had 4 kids. Although what me and DH think possibily I’ve had it my whole life without me knowing about it. I just don’t understand how it could just suddenly happen as how could I get pregnant with 1st?!

Explorers10 · 01/04/2019 17:00

P.s I’ve lost out an Xmas baby as was too stressed and didn’t cope very well with what the GP said. Will continue dtd next month!

Chips4dinneragain · 01/04/2019 17:26

I think you might be right sassenach i was really upset on the day and spent pretty much 24hrs crying, but feeling as if things are moving forward - even if it is towards a fertility clinic - is helpful. Glad you got some good news at your scan and hope it continues with your bloods. And yes, fingers crossed we become one of those 'about to start fertility treatment' stories!

explorers I have a friend who had pcos and when going for a follow up ultrasound, the scan picked up she was pregnant, I know this is just anecdotal but you're right, it absolutely can and does happen. I too wonder if my issues were there all along but the stars were just miraculously aligned that first month we started TTC DD, I guess we will never know But it has certainly made me incredibly greatful to have her.

Explorers10 · 01/04/2019 18:31

@chips4dinneragain

I feel for you & know how you feel. I’ve cried all week & seeing others with more than 1 child I keep wishing that was me. Silly i know as should be grateful for having a healthy child when some others can’t have one. I hope miracles happen for us. Thanks for your support.

sassenach84 · 02/04/2019 13:59

@Explorers10 oh no sorry to hear you've been feeling so down :-( Don't lose hope just yet! I think we've all been tricked into thinking it's easy thanks to our luck with the first kiddo. But most of us are still pretty much in the average range of how long people try for. At least we've made sure to find out any issues and we're addressing them now and quite early even. That's a positive thing! We'll get there! X

Chips4dinneragain · 02/04/2019 17:08

Apologies in advanced as I'm about to go full metal batshit.......

By my reckoning I am max 4dpo, however because I'm a POAS addict and have a fresh ton of ICs I thought I'd scratch that itch. Anyway, because I clearly knew it was pointless, I forgot to check it for about 30 mins, came back and there was a second line. Obviously my first though was evap, but thought id do another one (a mere 30 mins after my last wee, I honestly need rehab) and I think there is a line?!?! I also dipped an OPK in the second wee as I thought if it's a dodgy batch the OPK would be really light. Anyway, please give me honest thoughts...
