Is it me or does number 2 seem to take longer to conceive?

@crazychemist I always get it before my first positive OPK x

Chips4dinneragain · 10/05/2019 09:46

chemist I usually got some for a few days (maybe 3/4) before first positive OPK, I guess that potentially signals the start of your fertile window as by the time you get a positive OPK the window might be closing.

sassenach84 · 10/05/2019 10:39

@crazychemist I get it for 4-7 days before positive OPK. First just a little (and may seem like there's none, after seeing some) then increasing until OV day when it usually disappears. Good luck!

crazychemist · 10/05/2019 11:02

Aha, thanks ladies that's really helpful! I shall assume ovulation in the next 4ish days and try to make the best possible use of the weekend Grin. I never used OPKs when we were trying for DD so I'm not quite confident with them yet.

Ballygowenwater · 10/05/2019 12:19

I feel like I’ve got a lot to learn because I keep trying to make sense of everyone’s posts and I haven’t a clue 😂

Good luck to everyone now waiting and congrats to those who have had positive results already! Feels like we are on a lucky streak fingers crossed it continues.

I am currently 8 days out from period due date and cramping hard so thinking maybe AF will arrive a little early. The waiting is too much!

MummyBearBoo · 12/05/2019 08:59

I didn't expect anything this month as I didn't get s positive OPK but then I did forget to test on the main day!! Also I usually get a faint line the day before this time I had a week of faint lines getting darker until the day I forgot then gone the day after that we only DTD the day I forgot to test!
I though AF was going to come due to cramps but turned out to be Early Pregnancy cramping so don't give up hope yet! Baby dust to everyone!!

nespressowoo · 12/05/2019 11:06

I had more spotting yesterday... AF due tues 21st. Too early for implantation?

MummyBearBoo · 12/05/2019 11:25

You never know some people get spotting early pregnancy too - you're not out until AF comes!!! Xxx

Chips4dinneragain · 12/05/2019 18:03

depends how long your luteal phase is nespresso as I guess you could implant as early as 7dpo. When I was pregnant with DD I had implantation bleeding 6 days before AF which was around 9dpo (I think).

When do you think you ovulated?

nespressowoo · 12/05/2019 21:36

Thanks @MummyBearBoo xx

@Chips4dinneragain I had a solid smiley 5th May (two flashy ones before that) confirmed with a cheap OPK and they were positive until 6th then negative. I'm on cycle day 17 now so I have no idea to be honest when I ovulated. Probably 7th. I've not been good with temping this month, got out of the habit. Ovia says I'm in the 'late lutheal phase'. My CM is doing what it usually does at this point of my cycle so I'm not hopeful Sad

Ballygowenwater · 12/05/2019 23:24

What is an OPK?

Hope this month was a good one for you Nespresso and you get a happy surprise.

Chips4dinneragain · 13/05/2019 15:51

OPK stand for ovulation predictor kit bally they ate little strips you wee on and they test for a particular hormone that increases shortly before you ovulate.

I never temped either nespresso so was always a rough estimate ate with me. If you had 2 days of positives from the 5th may you would have likely ovulated between 5th and 8th may. So I guess today that makes you between 5 and 8 days past ovulation. Although I don't think it's a very exact science, I know doctors are sceptical of OPKs and the cycle I got my BFP was 4 days after my positive OPK, so either the strips missed the surge or I am a medical marvel who implants at 4 days Grin

nespressowoo · 13/05/2019 17:53

Thanks @Ballygowenwater x

@Chips4dinneragain ahh time will tell. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻 thank you x

MummyBearBoo · 14/05/2019 14:19

My scan is booked for 11th June seems so far away!! Xx

crazychemist · 15/05/2019 06:53

Fingers crossed nespresso! Doesn’t sound like you’re out yet.

Bad start to today. Got a nice strong line on my OPK Monday night and on Tuesday. DH “not in the mood” on either occasion, and I didn’t push it (although was feeling a bit grumpy last night as he’d had the day off work and I hadn’t asked him to do anything at all so he can’t have been that tired!). Turns out he’d accidentally set the alarm an hour early this morning, so I figured it would be a nice opportunity as we were both up and DD was fast asleep. Nope. He had “too much on his mind about work”. Ended up having an argument (in whispers of course), which is not really helpful at all! I’m not sure if I’m more upset that it might knock us out of the running for this cycle, or just that it makes me feel old and frumpy and unsexy that he can’t be persuaded 3 days in a row!

Feeling very wound up and dramatic now. Hopefully I’ll feel more sensible and forget about it once I’m at work!

Chips4dinneragain · 15/05/2019 10:42

Ah chemist that is crap, its a double blow in terms of your both your self esteem and the dissmissal of the time and energy put into to working out best chances of conception. I had a similar experience with DH a few months back and it really knocked me, I think we are fed a narrative that men constantly want sex and the only thing stopping then is availability! He's probably just feeling the pressure, I know my DH was.

crazychemist · 15/05/2019 18:23

Well, work distracted me all day so I didn’t think about it, so that was a relief. On my way home now and it’s back on my brain.

I don’t think DH feels pressured, he doesn’t know I’m using OPKs or that I track anything (he has asked not to be told things about my cycle as he feels it ruins the romance if he feels on schedule). But I think he doesn’t feel any time pressure for TTC at all, it makes little difference to him if it’s one month or the next. I’m probably over reacting, but I felt so positive about this cycle! The timing seemed great. Next cycle will be bonkers busy, so it feels like him saying no this time means another couple of months of waiting even as the best case scenario! Grumble grumble grumble

MummyBearBoo · 15/05/2019 19:40

It is so difficult when you've got a DC already coz you only really have chance at nighttime to DTD and my DH too was often really tired from work/ last cycle we were lucky coz my ov date fell on Easter Monday and his work get Monday and Tuesday off instead of Friday and Monday- having said that the only time we DTD in my FW was in that Monday night! Sperm can live for 5 days so if you DTD a few days before ov you still have a chance of them catching the egg xx

crazychemist · 16/05/2019 07:29

Well, feeling even more shit now.

DH did have a reason for being worried about work. They have said that they are not continuing his contract next year, which they can do as he was in his probation year. So he's going to be paid till September, but needs to find a new job.

It's particularly shit as he takes DD to nursery close to his work. She was going to be starting a really lovely pre-school in September that was close to him (I commute, so no good finding one near me, and we leave v.early in the morning so close to home is no good). He's probably going to have to travel quite a long way to new job if he finds one as it's very late in the academic year to apply and most jobs have gone. So not a fucking clue what we'll do with DD. I know we'll find something, but it'll end up being last minute and so probably not very good, which as we'd got a really lovely pre-school of our dreams sorted is a real kick in the teeth.

So overall, probably a good thing we only dtd once during my FW. TTC will have to go on hold, probably for quite a long time.

sassenach84 · 16/05/2019 07:42

@crazychemist sorry to hear that, sounds like a big disappointment, on top of TTC worries. Hope your DH finds something soon and you'll get a place for DD at an equally nice pre schools.

nespressowoo · 16/05/2019 13:29

Holy moly. Is this it??? I'm not due AF til next tues...

TTC number 2
nespressowoo · 16/05/2019 14:49

I did the other one. I have some FRERs on order to come tomorrow. Holy shit. I hope it is positive. Not telling DH til Tuesday. I've been spotting again today but it's brown. My heart is beating so fast! Anyone rate these freedom tests?

TTC number 2
Chips4dinneragain · 16/05/2019 15:52

Looks pretty positive to me nespresso! Tentative congratulations Grin I don't know about those tests personally but the results look fairly convincing to me! I guess that random brown spotting you had earlier in the week was implantation bleeding then, which hopefully means the spotting today is the same thing. My implantation bleeding with DD lasted 6 days, I think the implantation process can take a little while so not unheard of for it to happen over a week or so.

Chips4dinneragain · 16/05/2019 15:57

Oh chemist that's really shit! Sounds like he's been treated pretty poorly by his employer, no wonder he was stressed. is he a primary/secondary teacher or in academia/higher education?

nespressowoo · 16/05/2019 16:58

Thank you. I'm so paranoid now. Just wish the Amazon bloke could come tonight to deliver the FRERs Blush
