Is it me or does number 2 seem to take longer to conceive?

Thanks MummyBear congratulations on your positive and sorry to hear about your previous pregnancy Sad

MummyBearBoo · 07/05/2019 11:01

Thank you xxx

Wrigleys123 · 07/05/2019 11:49

Do you take anything for your PCOS Mummy? I took Metformin last time but I was only on it for a week before falling pregnant with DD so not sure if it even did anything or not! (I have tried it for a while this time but stopped now as I'm not sure if it does anything for me!)

MummyBearBoo · 07/05/2019 12:33

No mine's always been unmedicated I was diagnosed when I didn't have a period for 6 months but due to a genetic condition we were going through the process of having genetic testing IVF but then I had 1 period randomly and got Pregnant naturally before we got our appointment - since then my periods have been regular just 5 or 6 week cycles! I don't have many symptoms I gain weight quite easily but I've recently lost 1st 8lbs to get me back in healthy weight - some people say that having brown pasta and rice and limiting sugar intake (which I do) helps as PCOS causes insulin resistance! Xx

Chips4dinneragain · 07/05/2019 15:20

Congratulations mummybear hoping you get some positive results at 11 weeks.

Hope all went well today explorers

MummyBearBoo · 07/05/2019 15:30

Thanks @Chips4dinneragain - how far along are you now? Xxx

crazychemist · 07/05/2019 17:04

Wow, congratulations seahawk and *mummybear! What a great bank holiday weekend people have been having! Fingers crossed for the next 9 weeks. Is it amniocentesis they do to check?

Hope all is well explorers (was it today?).

Welcome wrigleys Smile

OPK users, when do you start to POAS? I think today is day 9, so wondering when I should start checking (started waaaaaay to early last cycle and wasted loads of sticks!). Tomorrow, or leave it a couple more days? Cycle is mostly around 28days, but not completely regular. Last cycle I think I OVd at about day 16.

Those of you with DC1 at nursery - are they ALWAYS ill, or is that just mine? My DD is more prone to illness than most (overlarge tonsils and adenoids crushed eustacean tubes before they were removed, so fluid trapped in ears/sinuses, lovely breeding ground for bacteria!), but honestly we only get 1 day between one illness and the next. Not sure if I should go to the GP. Seems a bit silly to do so as there’s nothing they can do for viruses, but I’m not quite sure how far off normal it is, ifswim?

Explorers10 · 07/05/2019 17:10

Thanks @chips4dinneragain and @crazychemist

The scan went well. I’m surprised I have no cysts on my ovaries. They said my ovaries are completely normal. I also have regular periods just high testesterone in blood so won’t be diagnosed with pcos. How strange is that!? I don’t know whether to be happy or not?! I suppose it’s good news?!

OP posts:
Explorers10 · 07/05/2019 17:12

Basically you need 2 of 3 to be diagnosed with pcos:

Irregular periods
High testesterone
Cysts on ovaries

crazychemist · 07/05/2019 17:18

Ok explorers, so what’s the next step for you? Are they able to treat the high testosterone with any kind of hormone therapy? Or give you anything else to encourage ovulation? Normal ovaries sounds like good news

sassenach84 · 07/05/2019 17:25

Wow @MummyBearBoo congratulations, great news! Wishing you lots of luck with this pregnancy. I cannot imagine the tough situation you are in.

@crazychemist I usually start when my app tells me I'm entering FW and/or the first day of EWM. It's usually 4-7 days before OV. I'd do one sick a day for 2-3 days and then do 2 a day.
Wow that is a lot of sick days, poor child and poor you 😞 Mine is not at nursery but I'm now thinking of putting her in one three mornings a week as of September ahead of #2 and those illnesses are definitely my main worry. Especially in view of pregnancy/newborn.

@Explorers10 That's definitely food news! It explains some of the issues but seems like it also means things are not as complex as they could be... What's next for you, have they said what can be done about the testosterone? Also, have they said it's something you likely have always had?

Explorers10 · 07/05/2019 17:45

I’m a bit confused as i prepared myself that the sonographer was going to tell me I had cysts. I got GP appointment next week so will see what she says. The sonographer today could only tell me the results of the scan. Maybe I just need to relax a bit more as to why it hasn’t happened yet and be more patient

MummyBearBoo · 07/05/2019 18:06

@Explorers10 you can have PCO without it being a Syndrome they diagnose you with the syndrome if you have more testosterone in your blood and the scan shows cysts- if you don't have the syndrome it's not a condition that will reoccur usually!
@crazychemist - it's like amino but done at 11 weeks it's called CVS they take a sample from the placenta instead of amniotic fluid it means then can tell me the sex if the baby and test for all other chromosomal abnormalities-my little boy had 2 chromosomal abnormalities and was unlikely to survive.
I did tests at 15dpo days after my first missed AF but after 2CPs on last two cycles I said wasn't going to test til AF a week late this time but then my AF didn't come and it is a gym day today so I thought I better check before I go killing it and doing weights so I checked this morning xxxxx

Hi ladies hope you're good! Hope you don't mind my long message - my daughter is nearly three and a half and I've been off the pill since last April. My daughter took 6 months to conceive and at the time seemed like the worse 6 months of my life! After coming off the pill for #2 I didnt expect it to happen overnight however as I hit the year mark I'm really struggling to see light at the end of the tunnel. My periods were irregular (between 29-35) days up until month 9, they've now been 31 days for the last 4 months. Bloods came back clear and the doctor seems confident I'll conceive before the autumn given my cycle seems to be regular. Is it normal for your body to take such a long time to recover from the pill. I feel like I'm clutching at straws to try and remain positive.

sassenach84 · 07/05/2019 19:18

@Marshnic Welcome! From what I've heard it's definitely normal for things to take a while after the pill. When I came off it before DD, I had two irregular cycles followed by no period for 6-7 months (we weren't TTC yet). Never knew why as bloods came back normal, could have been hormonal after the pill or perhaps stress. I'd been on it for 10 years so figured it was understandable. Good luck for your next cycle! I think it sounds encouraging that recently there's been more regularity.

Chips4dinneragain · 07/05/2019 20:40

explorers that's great news, now you just need need to see a GP who knows their stuff with fertility and hopefully there's either a quick fix or its just a case of it taking a bit longer than usual. Really pleased for you.

mamabear I'm 7 weeks although feels further along as i got a BFP 10 days before my period was due, so gonna round up to 8 weeks as that makes me feel like I'm closer to the end of the first trimester symptoms Grin

chemist I always did them from the day after AF, not that it did me any good! I think generally a good rule of thumb is start 4 days before you usually get your surge.

Welcome wrigglies and marshnic sorry you find yourself here and good luck for your next cycles.

Marshnic · 07/05/2019 20:42

Thanks @sassenach84 my periods weren't regular when we tried for my daughter and someone how I fell pregnant after 6 months. Not sure what's delaying it this time but it's very difficult to keep your chin up! Thank you, I really hope it'll happen soonSmile

crazychemist · 08/05/2019 08:01

Thanks for the advice ladies. Think I'll start using Ov sticks tomorrow, which is day 11. Fingers crossed there are no surprise visits from MIL or horrible plagues that get us this cycle! We're both exceptionally busy at work this week, so alas I don't think there's going to be a lot of romance!

MummyBearBoo · 09/05/2019 07:35

Ok huts need you're help coz I'm totally paranoid I took another FRER this morning - the one I did Tuesday both line were dark on this test the test line is still dark but the control line is pretty faint is this still positive? Also I read online that sometimes the test line is so dark it pulls dye from the control line hence why it's so light is that true? See pic xx

MummyBearBoo · 09/05/2019 07:41

Ok meant girls not huts 😂 xxx

Chips4dinneragain · 09/05/2019 08:19

Hi mummybear that's a very strong positive, you've just reached the 'dye stealer' stage which means there is a shit load of the pregnancy hormone in your urine - a very good sign. I lost my mind with tests in the early stage and did a ton of them (it wasn't helpful to be honest) and I think my frer test line got darker than the control line at about 17dpo (give or take a few days).

MummyBearBoo · 09/05/2019 08:31

I'm 17 dpo that's reassuring thanks xx

crazychemist · 09/05/2019 12:20

Looks exactly like mind did when I got bfp with DD. I think when you have lots of hormone the test line is often darker than the control line, so perfectly normal if you’re testing more than 2 weeks post ov

nespressowoo · 09/05/2019 17:01

Oh congratulations @Seahawk80 & @MummyBearBoo ! Wonderful news! You both must be over the moon!

My fertile week is over, we DTD three times. I've had a bit of spotting today after I went to the loo, which is unusual. Have also had the most awful headache which just won't shift! AF due 21s May, I'm not holding out any hope.

Hope everyone is well - it's exhausting this waiting lark! X

crazychemist · 10/05/2019 06:27

Ladies, (sorry, another OPK question!) do you generally get EWCM before or after your first positive on OPK? Yesterday was cd11, did first OPK of the cycle without a hint of a line, but had EWCM. But there’s no sign of it this morning. Does that make any sense to anyone? We dtd just in case, but I’m wondering if it means anything about when I’m likely to Ov. (I’m not always regular, so trying to pinpoint FW is tricky)
