@Blackfriars we’re on the exact same cycle I’m cd 24 today and again made a good effort this month with dtd but don’t think this is my month I have the usual af symptoms and a few spots to add to the list of woes 😥

blackfriars · 18/03/2019 15:02

Hi @SunnyL88 - it's nice to have a cycle twin! Crossing my fingers for you that AF doesn't arrive (is your cycle 28 days?) but if so will be interested to see how you get on next month. We have been only DTD during fertile window so far, but are thinking of doing SMEP next cycle - here's hoping for some good news soon!

daisiesandpeonies · 18/03/2019 15:12

@FlapJackered I would definitely tell her and ask her to hold off a few weeks. Perhaps send her a card or letter as sometimes it's easier to explain that way than by phone, and more personal than a message. I'm sure she'll understand - she's probably very sad for you and wants to see you - just say it isn't personal and you aren't any less happy for her just devastated for yourself. You don't want to go through a whole weekend of forcing yourself to smile and be happy when you don't mean it, she will be able to tell and it would be worse for her than not coming

SunnyL88 · 18/03/2019 16:01

It is isn’t it @Blackfriars !!

Yes 28/29 days usually and funny that I’m regular as I have high prolactin which usually makes you irregular or have no af at all. I’ve just ordered some clear blue digital opks for this month as it’s a definite yes or no with them I think and I’m a bit indecisive at the best of times!!

Lozzlepop · 18/03/2019 16:27

@Lottiepink yeah thanks hun, I do know so I am keeping an eye on things ☺️

@MrsAW2018 sorry to hear you had a bit of a rough weekend hun, I know its a tough old journey nut if you stop now it will take longer if you do then need to see someone. How about taking a more relaxed approach for a few months?

Hello @Hatty33 @blackfriars welcome

@MrsR16 oh how exciting, you should deffo go for it as @BabySquid said you will still be entitled to Stat Mat pay (thats all my work offer) you cant let such a good opportunity pass you by!

Currently CD27 and 12DPO had a little spotting today but other than that no usual AF signs, should I POAS or hold off?

starkid · 18/03/2019 16:30

@Lozzlepop - Ooh go on Grin (sorry, I'm a bad influence)

Lozzlepop · 18/03/2019 16:34

@starkid lol you are, also should be 11DPO- that was a typo! Would just rather know so I can formulate a plan for next month

starkid · 18/03/2019 16:36

Ooh 11dpo... nah actually wait til Wednesday I say Smile

BabySquid · 18/03/2019 16:50

@Lozzlepop don't test just yet. If it's neg you'll be disappointed, but then think it could be too early, and get your hopes up again, just to be shot down if af turns up. Don't test early

blackfriars · 18/03/2019 16:59

I'd hold off for the moment if you can @lozzlepop - Wednesday sounds like a good plan!

Question - has anyone tried using fertility gel? Just bought some ('Fertile Check') without noticing it's only 6 sachets in the box (about £12 for the box) so it's pretty pricey. Any thoughts welcome!

Lozzlepop · 18/03/2019 17:04

@starkid @BabySquid thanks ladies! Will hold off! Ovia predicts AF tomorrow and Glow predicts Thursday so we shall see! How is everyone else getting on?

starkid · 18/03/2019 17:06

@blackfriars - I've been using preseed for a fair few months, it's lasted me quite a while (not the amount they say, as otherwise it's like a gushing waterfall!). Can't say much for it working fertility-wise as I'm not pregnant, but it does lubricate well.

rosehm · 18/03/2019 17:31

Hi everyone,
Newbie here! Feeling very confused and keep having to flip between this and a glossary of what all the abbreviations mean!
I am 28 and TTC my first.
Quick question for you (sorry if it sounds really naive/obvious) I came off the pill on 11th March and had a period of what looked like old blood from 13th-16th. Does that count as proper AF or should I expect a normal period to come as well?
When would you first do an ovulation test in my position? I have some in the cupboard and have no idea how long I should wait? Until after my next period?
Please help!
Rose

BostonFern · 18/03/2019 17:35

@Jessikka thank you!

@Lozzlepop 🤞 for when you POAS!

SophWolf · 18/03/2019 17:53

Hi @rosehm (and everyone), I'm new too, hope it's ok to chip in. I'm ttc my first. I came off Yasmin 5th March and had my withdrawal bleed two days later - is that what you had do you think? I have no idea when to test for ovulation ether, have been trying to track my bbt to see if that shows but think from what I've read it can kick in at different times for different people?

thumper59 · 18/03/2019 17:58

@rosehm I counted my withdrawal as a period and tracked from there- I was on and off with my first OPKs and possibly didn't ovulate or missed ovulation, I conceived second cycle. I would start using them if you want too though it causes no harm! Luckily I went straight into a 28 day cycle and only had 1 period (excluding withdrawal) before I conceived so cant tell you if they would of stayed at 28 day cycles!

Fivebyfive2 · 18/03/2019 17:58

@Lozzlepop, try to hold out until Wednesday, I'll keep everything crossed for you!

@MrsAW2018, sorry to hear you're having a rough time of it. It can grind you down after a bit. Definitely take a little break if you're feeling like it's just a slog. Even still trying but not tracking as much can help sometimes xxx

@blackfriars, we looked at the lube/gel but chickened out!! Let me know if you get some, what the verdict is!

@flapjackered, if you're not up to seeing your friend because of all that is happening, don't force yourself. But, just to put a different spin on it if I can... It may be that when you do meet up, it's not bad as you think. She might also be feeling awkward, as in not knowing if it's better to leave it for a bit or if that itself would seem insensitive?! It's such a tricky situation for all sometimes. Have a think and maybe just chat to her before deciding?? Hope you are OK xxx

Well, I called the EPU where is had the surgery, they just said to test again next week or maybe even the week after and all should be fine. So at least that put my mind to rest a bit! Xx

BabyO1988 · 18/03/2019 17:59

@BabySquid can you add me to your list?
I'm 30 cycle 4

@MrsAW2018 sorry to hear your got a negative today but keeping everything crossed for you!

@Hatty33 maybe take another test in a few days and then maybe contact gp just to check?

@blackfriars sorry so hear about your negative test... maybe wait a few days and test again?

@Jessikka sending lots of luck for this cycle!

@MrsR16 you need to do what's right for you. If the job is what you want then go for it and if you get your bfp then you can approach it then 👍🏻

@Lozzlepop good luck and hope you get your bfp! Maybe test tomorrow and see?

@rosehm welcome to the thread! You could start testing but depends how long it is since your last af?

I'm still in limbo. My opks results have been strange since last Monday. I got the darkest test line on Monday but it still didn't look positive but dtd anyway. Have done every other day since. Had another dark result on Wednesday but still not positive. Then since, my results have been so weak. Don't know what to think. Any advice? Still getting slight cramps each day. I'm on day 31 now but af not due yet as cycles are longer xx

Lottiepink · 18/03/2019 18:43

@Lozzlepop fingers crossed for you, hopefully you will be able to wait until Wednesday 😊

@blackfriars I have the conceive plus one, but my DH isn't that much of a fan of it, so only used it a few times... think I will use it each time when dtd in FW this cycle tho

MrsR16 · 18/03/2019 18:45

@BabySquid 😊 can always rely on you for a sensible answer! I just can't let this pass by.

@Lozzlepop is it bad I'm trying to find out what mat pay I'd be entitled to and when I'd get it if I got this new job? 😂😂 as an aside, I'm desperately trying to hold off POAS... I've got one FRER left!

@BabyO1988 again with the sensible ness! This is why I love you ladies! 😂 I'll be finishing my application tonight I reckon...

Lottiepink · 18/03/2019 18:57

@MrsR16 defo go for the job, my friend was made redundant from her job the day before she found out she was pg, got another job at 8 weeks and didn't tell them until she had to at about 16 weeks. They were obviously a bit annoyed but, what can you do. Although employers aren't supposed to discriminate against pregnancy, she would not have got the job if they had know. You have to do what's best for you... go for it 😊 she also got stat pay, but it's better than nothing I suppose. I think it's like £145 per week, but 90% of the wage for 6 weeks first?

Hatty33 · 18/03/2019 19:22

Thanks everyone- think I’ll wait to my husband gets back from working away and test again. Hate the waiting game

MrsR16 · 18/03/2019 21:00

@Lottiepink most of the application is done! 😊 now just gotta do the wordy bit...

FlapJackered · 18/03/2019 21:28

@cupcakesandglitter @Fivebyfive2 Thank you, very wise words. I think maybe I will just try and put her off for a while.

@rosehm welcome! As the others have said, I would just count your withdrawal bleed as cd1 and maybe start testing the opks cd10.

@BabyO1988 that does sound frustrating! It's possible one of those darker ones was positive. I have had cycles where it hasn't been quite dark enough but ovulation was confirmed by my temperature after so it obviously was a positive after all! Fingers crossed you get an answer soon!

@BabySquid I think my age will be 31 by the next thread 😩

@blackfriars I have been listening to this fertility podcast where they debunk ttc myths with an expert and apparently there is nothing in those ttc lubes that would help get you pregnant but it won't hinder either.

FlapJackered · 18/03/2019 21:47

@daisiesandpeonies you're right. I think I will put her off for now and try and have a chat about it with her.
How are you? Where are you in your cycle now?

@MrsR16 that's exciting about the job! I would definitely go for it, as you can't put life on hold for what ifs. Also you can guarantee as soon as you start the new job you will get pregnant! 😂
