Here's the new thread. This is a lovely supportive thread for anyone who has suffered the loss of a much wanted baby. Affectionately known as the penguin huddle- this is the place to survive the ups and downs of this crazy journey.

Welcome to any new ladies and sorry for your loss.

Let's have a roll call ladies

Wow @Boboelephant that's fab news! Just keep growing little embies! Wonderful news!

@Russkispy so frustrating for you on this of all cycles. Big penguin huddle hugs.

@frillyfarmer thinking of you today. Everything crossed.

I've just paid £256 for someone to stick me with a needle. And I'm needle phobic. And then I realised if I am pregnant already I'll most likely have to cancel as I'll prob start taking baby aspirin which will mess with thrombophilia results. Gah Confused

Newbie21 · 14/02/2019 18:44

Great to hear @Boboelephant. So amazing that you can follow each step. Stay strong little first graders haha x

Boboelephant · 14/02/2019 19:16

Thanks @Laney79 and @Newbie21. I probably should have explained that they are graded between 1 and 4 with 1 being the best. This is due to how the cells divide and means that mine have divided into equal cells and there is no fragmentation- which is good!

Lilimum6 · 14/02/2019 21:41

@Boboelephant that's wonderful news when is transfer day

InDreamland · 14/02/2019 21:45

@Lilimum6 and @TinyPaws thank you for all the info on aspirin and vitamin D. I'm finding it very interesting and useful.

@Russkispy massive hugs! Sorry your having a difficult time with this cycle.

@Boboelephant what fantastic news. Fx they continue to develop well. It's a really good sign for this cycle!

@frillyfarmer how are you today? Hope your scan went well.

Boboelephant · 14/02/2019 21:51

@Lilimum6 and @InDreamland thank you! Transfer day is Saturday!! 😀

Lilimum6 · 14/02/2019 21:52

@frillyfarmer how did it go today hun xx
@InDreamland I just hope my consultant is right and I don't make a mistake in not taking it.
@Newbie21, @Russkispy, @TinyPaws, @Laney79 , @KnitKitty , how are you all doing

InDreamland · 14/02/2019 21:56

@Boboelephant that is so exciting! Do keep us updated. Sorry if this is too personal, you don't have to answer, how many get transferred?

@Lilimum6 I understand how you could be torn and now I have the info I'm wondering if I should or shouldn't. Both NHS consultants I've seen recently told me to take baby aspirin as soon as I get BFP but I don't yet have diagnosis of blood clotting. They told me it won't have adverse effects but can only help but now with the info you've shared I'm a little apprehensive now.

Boboelephant · 14/02/2019 22:10

Thank you!!!

@InDreamland it's fine. They will only transfer one as I am under 37 and they always want to reduce a multiple pregnancy where they can due to possible health risks. They will transfer two if over 40. If we have extra blastocysts on Saturday we will freeze them.

InDreamland · 14/02/2019 22:13

Thanks for sharing @Boboelephant. So excited for you! Can't wait to hear how it goes.

Lilimum6 · 14/02/2019 22:18

So technically on Sunday you will be pregnant if all goes well. Wow I can't believe how excited I am for you.

Yukka · 14/02/2019 22:19

@boboelephant that is so amazing. And it all seems to be happening quickly!
After transfer on Saturday, how long till they do bloods....? Yikes! Xx

Yukka · 14/02/2019 22:22

You know I’m thinking about the aspirin, I’ll dig out dr regans book tomo as there is a whole section on the clinical trials they did. I think I remember age being a factor, so I wonder if us older mums to be are being told to take it and then others aren’t? I’ll check and report back x

Lilimum6 · 14/02/2019 22:23

@InDreamland I don't know about this asprin thing. The consultant says one thing but everything I have found on the net say different I really don't know what to do

OP posts:
InDreamland · 14/02/2019 22:27

Thanks @Yukka that would be interesting. I love how you just said "us older mums" it's so nice to be referred to as a mum, thank you Smile

@Lilimum6 it's tough isn't it. I'm surprised none of our brains have exploded with all the info out there.

Lilimum6 · 14/02/2019 22:44

@Yukka please that would be really helpful.

Russkispy · 14/02/2019 22:59

Thank you ladies! You've been great! See what tomorrow brings. I've been looking o into fertility coaches. Scheduled a couple of calls for tomorrow. To help me along my IVF journey. Whenever that may begin! Confused

ale2992 · 14/02/2019 23:21

I'm finally ovulating! It feels like such a long week of negative OPKs, felt like it was happening this month!

Laney79 · 15/02/2019 06:44

@Yukka @InDreamland @Lilimum6 to be honest on the aspirin I've done so much research and there's very little to suggest it does harm at such a low dose, admittedly not much hard evidence to say it definitely helps either. I've emailed my nurse to ask her what new evidence there is so I can see the reason why some doctors are now saying this as I can't find diddlysquat published. If she can point me in the direction of the evidence Then I'll prob decide for myself based on how confident I am in the research. It seems so much of miscarriage treatment is based on the opinion of the dr you have rather than agreed evidence based info. I still feel that it could be the answer for me (at 39 and a half and with a family history of clotting issues) and frankly I did it the drs way last time and still lost my bow - I need to be in control if there's a next time. I'm the doctors worst nightmare!!!

10dpo today for me and the really strong symptoms that had me going I'm deffo preggers two days ago have eased off...so who knows. Going to have to frer test tomorrow. I can't wait till Tuesday.

Laney79 · 15/02/2019 07:20

@ale2992 hoorah! It feels like a huge step to get a positive opk doesn't it. Good luck with the BD-Ing!

KnitKitty · 15/02/2019 07:59

@Laney79 I'm not sure getting referred elsewhere would speed anything up. I'm working under the assumption that things are happening at the speed that they're meant to and it's giving me extra healing time; physically and mentally. I suppose at the end of the day, it's a good thing that I'm getting frustrated because it means I've done some mental healing and feeling more ready to try again.
Hope you're managing not to go mad in the TTW. I'm not really looking forward to that roller-coaster again. Stay strong xxx

@Russkispy Sorry AF is taking her time this month. Hope she shows up soon xxx

@Boboelephant That is absolutely FANTASTIC news! I'm so pleased!!! Hopefully you'll have some to freeze then so you don't have to go through the first stages of IVF again if you ever need to.

@Lilymum6 Thinking of you today. (If I'm remembering correctly you have some kind of appointment?? It's hard to keep up...) You're in my thoughts, anyway. xxx

KnitKitty · 15/02/2019 08:00

Oh, and yes, to whoever said all this would have been better researched by now if it were happening to men... Totally agree. Same as with all the contraception pill side-effects business... that gets my blood boiling, so I will try not to think about it and stay zen. Grin

frillyfarmer · 15/02/2019 08:13

Thanks everyone for asking. After about an hour scanning and about six different people in the room, they've concluded that the gentle hgc increases over the past fortnight are being caused by a small amount of retained material from my mc in jan.

Bit of a curve ball as this hadn't been put forward as a potential reason before, but definitely preferable to another ectopic, which they've ruled out.

Unfortunately, it's too small for intervention so I'm going to have to wait for it to pass, and do another pregnancy test in two weeks to check my HGC is dropping. I've also been prescribed amoxicillin as a precaution against any infection.

I'm happy I've got a conclusion and an end in sight, although sad that the tiny optimistic bit of me was secretly hoping for my October miracle. I'm trying not to dwell and it's all academic but I'm sad that realistically I don't think I'll be having a 2019 baby now.

The consultant has said once it has passed and I get my negative, I need to wait at least two cycles before TTC. When I asked why she said I need to give my body time to recover - is this true? It's bummed me out a bit to be honest, I like to have stuff to work towards and I'm not sure I want to "recover" until May/June time!

ale2992 · 15/02/2019 08:31

@Laney79 it really does!
Last month I tested and started ovulation unexpectedly quickly after my miscarriages so this has felt like it wasn't happening!

@frillyfarmer sorry to hear that but glad you have your conclusion. I was advised to wait after one cycle before trying again, which we sort of didn't follow but didn't fall pregnant anyway 👎🏻
I have see a lot of other people be given this same advice and some that have been told to wait longer
