Yammers thread 10!

Yammer rules:

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement. Please read the rules before posting!

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night
  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

-Thou shalt not post pictures of positive pregnancy tests. We will be delighted to hear about it but no photos, please and thank you

@impatientmammy thank you 🙏

dragonmummy17 · 09/06/2019 08:43

@SuzieQ10 congratulations!

dragonmummy17 · 09/06/2019 08:44

@impatientmammy sorry for the bfn. It never gets any easier to see one. How much longer are you on holiday for?

cupcakesandglitter · 09/06/2019 10:17

@impatientmammy exactly the same here. Always seem to google the littlest thing and just irritate myself more 😩 sorry for the BFN, what do you think is going on? Late ovulation?

@SuzieQ10 that's fantastic, I really hope you have a sticky bean and all goes well, congratulations xxx

@NoseringGirl oh that's amazing! I hope you ov soon xxxx

Having a really shit morning. I have family abroad that I haven't seen in two years - I've got loads of beautiful nieces and nephews, and my favourite cousin had this gorgeous little girl who was just a little toddler, and she'd said she didn't want another because her pregnancy was horrible. Last year we had a quick catch up and said that actually she might be ready for another, and I'd mentioned we were thinking about TTC... I've not spoken to her until last night and I woke up this morning to a message from her telling me that I'm going to be an Aunty because she's expecting a boy. I'm so beyond happy for her and god they deserve it but it's completely broken my heart. We visited them as almost newlyweds starting this exciting new life, looking for our home etc.... and two years later were in this empty house still having no luck. I really wanted to be the next one - when I visited my family were so ecstatic I'm married and said I was the one they couldn't wait to have a little baby (although I don't see them often, we're very very close) but I'm so heartbroken. That and another vivid dream of POAS with a glaring BFP and I actually don't know how to get past this. Thanks if you got through this, I just really needed to get it off my chest

cupcakesandglitter · 09/06/2019 10:17

@dragonmummy17 sorry I didn't see your message - did you get SA results?

NoseringGirl · 09/06/2019 12:31

Oh wow @SuzieQ10 congratulations! Did you do anything different this month?

@impatientmammy so sorry for the BFN, it's horrible when your body gets your hopes up like that.

@cupcakesandglitter sending you lots of love. Baby bombs like that are hard no matter how pleased you are for someone, it can still really hurt. Go easy on yourself and try to do something nice that's just for you.

SuzieQ10 · 09/06/2019 21:41

@NoseringGirl - actually yes, I usually just try to DTD for 4 or 5 days in the lead up to the predicted ovulation date, and following day. But this time DH was away and so we didn't get around to it until 3 days after predicted ovulation date. By which time I would usually have stopped DTD every day.

cupcakesandglitter · 10/06/2019 09:50

Thanks @NoseringGirl had a proper chat with DH about it and then we just had a really nice day together... woke up and my boobs are SORE, as soon as I stood up they were killing me!! Not going to symptom spot (that's a lie) because I'm fully expecting AF to turn up this week (this May also be a lie). Any luck with ov?

@SuzieQ10 oh wow! Do you think you ov'd later? X

impatientmammy · 10/06/2019 11:40

Any sign of af yet @cupcakesandglitter I just read you post 😩 I hope your having a better day today. Hopefully you'll get your BFP soon and you'll have a beautiful baby close in age with your lovely nephew that's on the way x
. I had a good sob after my bfn and feeling back to me again. I'm 100% getting more clearblue ovulation stick though as if I'd known if I ovulated late or not at all it wouldn't have been so heartbreaking x

impatientmammy · 10/06/2019 11:41

Also did anyone else here just assume they'd get pregnant straight away? I really wish someone had told me x

cupcakesandglitter · 10/06/2019 11:59

@impatientmammy nothing for me, anything for you yet? 😩 if I take the pos OPK I had on CD30/31 I think, AF will be here by the end of the week. Nothing apart from stupidly sore boobs but hey. I think the CB sticks are a good idea, at least you'll know when you're ovulating.. definitely thought I'd get Pregnant straightaway, in fact me and DH cried about it yesterday because I said that I was so upset that we didn't start trying pretty much as soon as we got married. I was really really broody anyway and had quite a few conversations with him about it two years ago, in fact I was on some threads for waiting to TTC back then - it's how I found Mumsnet!! DH didn't want to try then because we didn't have our own house, and although it was sensible we both said yesterday that had we have known it would've taken this long we would've just started trying straight away 😩

dragonmummy17 · 10/06/2019 12:11

@cupcakesandglitter I hope you have a good day today. It's so hard when you hear news like that no matter how happy you are for them. Good luck for AF not showing this week.

@impatientmammy DS was conceived first month of trying... we were very lucky. But we are on month 14 now of ttc #2. I cannot understand why it might be so hard this time around... DS was 1 when we started trying so not a long gap either. I was at a playgroup today and one of the mums had a little girl of about 18 months and was heavily pregnant and I always find that hard. I always thought that if it was easy to get pregnant with the first, it would be easy again and I only know about secondary infertility by doctor Google and mumsnet... I've never heard anyone talk about it

DH is going to phone the GP to see if his results are back this afternoon... I really want to get the referral in now

cupcakesandglitter · 10/06/2019 12:23

Thanks @dragonmummy17 it shouldn't take too long for SA results to come back - I think DHs took a week?

impatientmammy · 10/06/2019 14:45

@dragonmummy17 secondary infertility here too my little one was a surprise and @cupcakesandglitter we waited a good 10 months to start trying so the my other half could get a promotion first 🙄
Has anyone's other half's used home sperm tests ? We had one booked but he keeps going away with work and missing appointments 🤷🏻‍♀️ x

cupcakesandglitter · 10/06/2019 15:18

@impatientmammy oh god. Isn't it crazy!!! WHY DID WE WAIT 😭 (also we haven't, sorry)

dragonmummy17 · 10/06/2019 15:29

@cupcakesandglitter I turned down a promotion for myself because I assumed I would be pregnant in a few months time! That was this time last year. Luckily I had another chance for a similar role in November and got it, then found out I was pregnant and spent 4 weeks wondering how to tell them, then miscarried anyway. I look back and wonder about how arrogant I was at how simple it would be!
DH spoke to receptionist at GPs. Results are there but GP is on holiday so no-one has looked yet. She is going to ask another GP to look tomorrow.
@impatientmammy here you do the sample at home and take it in... there are specific days and times though

NoseringGirl · 10/06/2019 15:51

@SuzieQ10 thanks, that's really interesting! So do you reckon you were just ovulating later than you thought?

@cupcakesandglitter glad you and your DH have managed to have a good chat. Sorry for the BFN! Hopefully it's just too early?

@impatientmammy I always felt like I'd struggle to get pregnant and while I've been lucky enough to have two sons, it's been difficult to get pregnant both times. I stupidly thought it would be easier this time as I was having regular cycles and I did get pregnant fairly quickly but had an early loss and cycles have gone back to being awful and I'm in the familiar place of struggling to get pregnant.
With the at home sperm tests, do you mean the ones you can buy from Boots or Amazon? I've heard they're good for things like sperm count but don't give you any information on motility or morphology.

@dragonmummy17 I hope someone looks at those results and gets back to you soon!

OPKs are getting slightly darker here. I'm keeping everything crossed my ovaries manage to do the job and didn't wear themselves out last cycle Grin

impatientmammy · 10/06/2019 16:22

🤞@NoseringGirl and yeah those are the ones I'm considering ordering one but then I suppose I risk give false positive information x

cupcakesandglitter · 10/06/2019 16:46

Oh @dragonmummy17 sorry :( I'm glad you got your promotion though, I think we get taught how naive it is and that it just takes one time - for some lucky people it does but it definitely doesn't for the majority of us!! X

@NoseringGirl no idea 😩 I tested last a couple of days ago I think now? I'm not gonna test (or at least try not to) until the end of the week now. Yessss I'm glad yours are getting darker, fx you get your positive soon!! X

justbeingelle · 10/06/2019 21:45

Hello, username change here, it's todaywasafairytale.

I'm with all of you ladies, it's so tough not knowing how long this will all take. I assumed it would have happened long before now too. Every cycle that passes just makes that BFP feel more unlikely.

justbeingelle · 10/06/2019 21:53

AF arrived on Sunday, a full five days early. My periods are usually so regular, with maybe a day or 2 either side so who knows what's been going on. I've been travelling a lot this month and I've been drinking alcohol / eating rubbish more frequently so I'm putting it down to lifestyle. I didn't get a positive OPK around the time I should have so I'm guessing I ovulated early.

1 year this month of TTC, 9 months of planning and actively tracking. Myself and DH are changing our eating and drinking habits this month. I've been struggling emotionally with this whole TTC journey, plus work has been very stressful and I've been emotionally eating which has meant I am now at the highest weight I have ever been. Gahhhhh! Struggling with this all 😭

cupcakesandglitter · 10/06/2019 22:04

Hey @justbeingelle I'm one month 12 too so can relate. I think lifestyle can definitely have an effect on cycles so don't worry too much, and also don't beat yourself up for eating drinking etc - it's okay to have some time off and TTC is soooooo stressful I think it's more than justified!! The main thing is that you're looking after yourself x

cupcakesandglitter · 10/06/2019 22:05

*on

Can't type today 😶

impatientmammy · 10/06/2019 22:21

Sorry everyone's feeling a bit down 😔 I think @SuzieQ10 is our first BFP of 2019? X

NoseringGirl · 10/06/2019 22:37

@justbeingelle we've just hit 13 months so can definitely sympathise, there's something very difficult about that year mark. Go easy on yourself. When TTC is a struggle I think we tend to start criticising various things about our lifestyles etc but it just adds to the pressure. Be kind to yourself.

@impatientmammy is she really? Lets hope @SuzieQ10 starts a trend!
