@Lozzlepop yes mine are Amazon too. You need to BD when you get a positive and then for the next couple of days after. I really hope we get some luck from the SMEP, I wrote it all our for the OH and he's on it. I don't mind this part of the whole TTC because we can be in some form of control. When it comes to the TWW I will be a mad google woman!!!

@Amy39 as you will soon learn, if you haven't already, as soon as you decide that you are TTC your body will decide to be unpredictable. It's amazing really....NOT. If you aren't sure when you Ovulated then hard to say if it could be implantation etc but say it was the 30th/31st then your around 5/6dpo. Is it bright red spotting, do you need to wear a pad or anything?

Amy39 · 04/02/2019 14:55

@DayDreamer1707 yes I've definitely got a lot to learn lol. It changes sometimes it's browny red then sometimes it's bright red. I used a pad yesterday for extra precaution but there wasn't enough to transfer on to the pad. I've had a few twinges like
You would when your due on but I don't come on till the 12th xx

DayDreamer1707 · 04/02/2019 15:07

@Amy39 hmmm I always spot a couple of days before my AF now but yours is more like a week before. How long are your cycles normally? The only thing I can suggest is to wait it out it is far to early to test but does sound like it could be implantation and you ovulated earlier than you think like @Lozzlepop said. Welcome to the TWW...she's a killer 😫

Amy39 · 04/02/2019 15:15

I think my cycle is 35 days. I'm a nightmare though as I haven't really tracked my period before. I'm just sure I was ovulating last week as I could just tell with what was going off downstairs. At least if
My AF comes then at least I'll know exactly how long my cycle is. She is a killer!!! I'm just counting down the days. X

Lozzlepop · 04/02/2019 15:17

@Amy39 ill keep my fingers crossed that she doesn't come. I have found the OPKs pretty easy to use although was concerned at the start that I wasn't seeing any change but happy that there has been a visible change since yesterday. I just use the One Step ones off Amazon which are approx £5 for 30 I thought I would try with these for a while before opting for the more expensive digital option! Yeah its crazy the amount of things we end up knowing, especially when you are told when you are at school its so easy to get pregnant lol X

Amy39 · 04/02/2019 15:27

@Lozzlepop Thank you. That's good to know I just bought some cheap ones of eBay to get me started so I hope they work ok. Oh yes I know!! I thought it would be so easy haha. X

Lozzlepop · 04/02/2019 15:28

@DayDreamer1707 sorry I missed a whole load of messages there lol ok I will test again when I get home at get DP onboard to DTD tonight, I'm sure he wont really complain though. That's good that you OH is on it, I haven't really gone into it much with mine as we are just at the start of trying but if we don't get anywhere then I deffo will!

FlapJackered · 04/02/2019 16:16

@mrseg I am so so sorry to hear that. I can't imagine how hard that must have been. Sending lots of love. Look after yourself. xxx

@starkid oh god, I hope it doesn't mess up your cycle. Blame my doctor if it does (not me! haha!) Hang on I am going to try and find and paste the instructions I found about them..

FlapJackered · 04/02/2019 16:20

@starkid Here it is! I obviously can't verify whether this is all true, but it seemed to work for me with little ill effect! I did cd3-7.
Sorry everyone for the impending copy and paste essay...!

Soya Isoflavones are derived from soya beans. They have been dubbed “the natural Clomid,”
As they work in pretty much an identical manner.
Just like Clomid; Soya Isoflavones work by tricking your body into thinking its low on oestrogen. Your body then kick starts production of FSH (Follicle-stimulating hormone) followed by LH (Luteinizing hormone) Which are both necessary to release Healthy Eggs during ovulation.
FSH is released at the start of the menstrual cycle; it stimulates the growth of an immature egg into a fully matured egg. When the egg has matured your body then releases a surge of LH. LH is the hormone that tells the ovary to release the egg.

WHEN?
You take Soy Isoflavones, like Clomid, on either CD 1-5 , 2-6, 3-7 , 4-8 or 5-9.
If you take soy Isoflavones during the later time bracket, for example CD5-9, you shall strengthen the egg that has already started growing producing a healthier egg. The earlier in your cycle you take It, the higher your chance of releasing multiple eggs but these eggs will not be as mature as the eggs grown from taking Soya later.
A lot of women will choose the middle cycle (3 -7) allowing time for a strong and healthy egg to develop without erasing the chance of a second egg being developed and released.

1-5 = you produce more eggs, and ovulate sooner, with a stronger ovulation.

2-6 = you produce more eggs that usual, but not as many as taking it 1-5. Eggs may be more mature, and ovulation will be slightly more strong than 1-5.

3-7 = The best of both worlds, a few more eggs, and all eggs will be strong & mature, and ovulation will be alot stronger than 1-5.

4-8 = No more eggs will be produced, but the ones already there, will be matured alot more than usual, and ovulation will be very strong. Ovulation may only be brought forward a teeny bit.

5-9 = You'll have one very mature strong egg, from the ones you already produced on your own. Ovulation will either happen when it usually does, or a few days later, but your egg will be of great quality.

DOSE?
The dose is really down to you but you should always use the lowest amount that works for you.
With Clomid the starting dose is 100mg. Soya Isoflavones are said to be half the strength of Clomid, so it makes sense for the starting dose to be 100mg.
The trouble with 100mg of soya is that the capsules tend to come as 40mg. So you have a choice of starting at 80mg.
Some women change the dose on different days. So they may start at 120mg for the first 3 days then give an extra boost for the last 2 days with 160mg.

As I have said though, use the lowest dose possible for yourself. If you ovulate using 120mg/day stick to that for a few cycles. GIVE IT A CHANCE. It is said that it takes 3months to get the full benefits of what you are taking. NEVER EXCEED 200mg/day.

OTHER BENEFITS?
The following potential health benefits are attributed to Isoflavones:
Reduce heart disease risk
Protect against prostate problems
improve bone health
Reduce cancer risk

SIDE EFFECTS?
As with any medication, taking Soya Isoflavones may cause side effects such as:
Nausea
Headaches
Dizziness
Hot flushes
Night sweats
Cramping
Diarrhoea
Lack of fertile cm
Thrush
Obviously the higher the dose you take the higher your chance of experiencing side effects.

DO NOT TAKE SOYA ISOFLAVONES WITHOUT CONSULTING A DOCTOR IF YOU HAVE ANY OF THE FOLLOWING:
Breast cancer, hepatic disease, prostate cancer, kidney disease, taking hormone treatments, thyroid disease, and allergies to soy, peanuts or other legumes.
Soy Isoflavones should not be taken while breastfeeding or pregnant.
Soy Isoflavones may interact with the following medications; androstenedione, antibiotics, clomiphene, DHEA, contraceptives and other female hormones, finasteride, raloxifene, red clover, tamoxifen, testosterone and other male hormones, thyroid hormones, and toremifene.
NOTE: Just like Clomid, Soya Isoflavones may not help some women at all!
Although research carried out on FF has shown that 77% of women taking Soya Isoflavones on the stated days at the stated doses, got there BFP on their first cycle taking them!

starkid · 04/02/2019 16:55

@FlapJackered - Thank you, you're a star!! I have ordered some to come tomorrow so will take 2 on days 4-8 and see what happens (if anything) :)

starkid · 04/02/2019 16:56

It's not the end of the world if it messes my cycle up a little for the month, worth trying something new anyway xx

DayDreamer1707 · 04/02/2019 16:58

@Lozzlepop I am pretty sure he will be happy to DTD, my OH has been telling me all day ha. I like him to be involved because I get really bad anxiety and having him there to talk to about things I think will help.

Lola871 · 04/02/2019 17:28

Hmm, not sure we have DTD enough for this first cycle tbh, I was due to ovulate Sunday, DTD Friday night, (OH works away in the week so nothing earlier), then nothing for the rest of the weekend due to social things, might go for a last effort today just in case I ovulate a little later!

We really aren't putting pressure on it which means it will only happen if we feel up for it anyway! Will just have to wait and see what happens 🤷😀

starkid · 04/02/2019 17:38

@FlapJackered - Actually today is day 4, so will have to be days 5-9 this cycle.
Not sure if I missed it, but how did your OH take news of your bfp? :) Xx

cupcakesandglitter · 04/02/2019 18:51

@MrsEG @Keyboard91 I'm so so sorry to hear that, both of you - I hope you're looking after yourselves and have all the support you need ❤️ xx

@FlapJackered how're you feeling? Have you done a digital yet? Xx

KatBeCool · 04/02/2019 20:46

@FlapJackered you're quite an expert on isoflavones! I'm seeing my OB tomorrow to discuss the next steps. He mentioned medication before so my guess is this will be my next step. But I ordered isoflavones anyway, I got nothing to lose. I'm still having cramps which is very strange. I never had cramps before AF in my life. But with temp dropping below cover I don't have much hope left for this cycle.

@starkid I heard about days 3-7 for isoflavones too, same as Clomid.

BostonFern · 04/02/2019 20:56

@MrsEG sorry to hear your news. I hope today went as well as it can do given the circumstances x

Nextchapter19 · 04/02/2019 21:07

Can someone help?! Its my first cycle TTC#1. I have a 28 day cycle. Im currently 8dpo, but the FRER test says you can test 6 days before AF due. This would mean only 5dpo as ovulated day 17. Am I missing something?!

MrsR16 · 04/02/2019 21:11

Super excited! Sounds stupid, but used an OPK for the first time ever and there's some form of line! It's definitely not a positive OPK, but I'm just happy my body is doing something it's supposed to at the moment! 😅

TTC FIRST BABY - Thread 12! [edited by MNHQ at OP's request]
KatBeCool · 04/02/2019 21:15

@Nextchapter19 those are average numbers and assume 14-day luteal phase so you'd be testing at 9dpo with their calculations. Don't test unless you're late, pregnancy won't go away if you didn't pee on a stick sooner!

Jessikka · 04/02/2019 21:39

Hey all 👋🏻

Just checking in. Currently chilling on 4dpo.

Haven't really thought about the 2ww at all - taking it easy and chilling. 100% not POAS early either. Feeling very chilled and relaxed about it all so what will be will be ❤️

I do however have to confess I have a new slight addiction to reading sex confessions and voting in polls on the Glow app 🧐

I can't get enough of it. I'm now a fully trained doctor who specialises in confirming positive OPKs .... or at least that's what my confident persona voting in women's polls would have you believe 🙄😂 ... oh the confidence we have hiding behind usernames 🤪

Crossfitgirl · 04/02/2019 22:16

@mrsEG I was just thinking about you earlier today and wondering how you were doing. I hope it went as smoothly as possible for you and I hope the support on here helps. Sending lots of love to you and I hope you're getting looked after well xxx

FlapJackered · 04/02/2019 22:45

@starkid Good Luck!!! I really hope they work for you! DH was happy but a fairly underwhelming response as he has man flu! 🙄 As he is getting better he has started to get more excited but it is early days and we are trying not to get too carried away yet, but it is hard not to after such a long wait!

@KatBeCool I'm sorry your temp has dropped. That is good you have got the appointment tomorrow. At least you can get a plan of action in place. I have to say with the Soy I just felt like I had got to a stage with ttc where I was willing to risk the possible side effects. Keep us updated!

@cupcakesandglitter I feel ok thanks hun! V sore boobs suddenly today and waves of nausea, but I have had both of those symptoms before AF in some cycles so no major pregnancy symptoms yet.
I took a digital today! I got the words, very exciting!
How are you feeling now lovely? Are you still thinking of taking a break? X

PinkFizz19 · 04/02/2019 22:51

@MrsEG So sorry to hear about what you are going through. Hope today went as well as can be expected. Sending lots of lpve and hugs your way.

@Amy39 Welcome to the club. I hope it IB..will keep everything crossed for you.

I've just got home from watching Mary Queen of Scot's at the cinema. One pump and a squirt and she was pregnant!! How misleading. Lol Wink

KatBeCool · 04/02/2019 23:35

@FlapJackered thank you! Spotting started, so AF is about to punch me in the gut with all its might. Maybe I'll get lucky and get actual Clomid prescribed.
