@Hobbes39 - great news 😊 how many days past transfer is that HCG result from?

@Presh12345 - good luck, maybe the McDonald's fries will be the magic ingredient! 🤞

Karigan195 · 23/01/2019 13:24

All sounds good Hobbes. The waiting is so painful isn’t it!

Crossing fingers for a sticky healthy bean

Hobbes39 · 23/01/2019 13:40

@CritterTamer I'm 11dp3dt (so 14dpo equivalent) x

Rose68 · 23/01/2019 13:47

@Hobbes39 that’s good news! x

CritterTamer · 23/01/2019 14:40

@Hobbes39 - that's in the possible range for twins 😊 it will be a long wait for your scan to find out!

I was unlucky and came down with moderate late onset OHSS, but the plus side of that was I got loads of scans so we found out very early (5+1 I think it was) that it was twins, although really we already knew as it was kind of obvious from the beta HCG which was 597 at 9dp5dt!

Cleozeta · 23/01/2019 14:44

Great news hobbes!

Cleozeta · 23/01/2019 14:48

Good luck presh. I think this whole thing is just stressful for all involved. The 'procedure' the men have to do must yake a toll. Hopefully it works this time

Hobbes39 · 23/01/2019 14:50

@CritterTamer - is it? Shock
I would be totally shocked if it is! What is the range?
Oddly - this am - just before leaving house I did a CB digi and it said 1-2 weeks, which I thought was up to about 150 ish, so I'm shocked it's as high as it is. Goes to show that there's a lot less HCG in wee than In blood!

Presh12345 · 23/01/2019 15:38

Has anyone been told to take the white tablets of Progyluton? It's an oestrogen. I'm afraid to take it with increased risk of everything.....heart, clots, breast cancer. It's for 14 days, twice a day.

SparrowSG · 23/01/2019 15:45

Presh yes, I have taken these both times after IVF, for up to about 12 weeks I think on my 1st IVF and pregnancy. Was taking that, progesterone and aspirin. Had no ill effects from them.

Realitysucks · 23/01/2019 15:47

Well ladies I’m out of clinic and alll I can say was that was bloody awful! Having little cry now 🙄

Presh12345 · 23/01/2019 16:08

@sparrow I'm so afraid as I had a blood clot before albeit 20 years ago. He also put me on clexane injections, crinone gel, duphaston progesterone, baby aspirin plus all my vitamins. Did yours work?

Cleozeta · 23/01/2019 16:34

Reality - what happened?

SparrowSG · 23/01/2019 16:36

Presh Clexane and aspirin are both blood thinners so should protect you from clotting (but I am no Dr), did you mention your concerns to the clinic and that you have had a clot previously?

1st IVF cycle was successful and I had my DS, 2nd was not. I was on similar post-treatment meds both times. The difference between the two was egg quality at the end of the day. As Dr said at 2nd round everything else 'looked' good (uterus/lining/egg etc) and if egg was genetically good I would fall pregnant, but I didn't on 2nd go.

Realitysucks · 23/01/2019 18:09

@Cleozeta So had the saline infusion and scratch. Took my pain killers an hour before as told. have the scan and I only have 5 follicles three on the left and two on the right. She said they are tiny but in keeping with what they expected from my bloods and AMH level. She said I had ovulated yesterday so in like line with with CBD which gave me a smiley yesterday and day before. Then she put in the catheter and did the scratch omg it bloody hurt!!! Been having cramping ever since so on the sofa now with hot water bottle felling sorry for myself.

I’m literally so fed up with the clinic. I asked loads of questions and she just says it’s fine. I literally feel like we are in and out with her. There is no rapport, shes there to do a job and that’s it. Every question i asked she said speak to the nurse. Then we went to have our bloods with the nurse and asked her and she doesn’t friggin know the answers tells us to ask the doctor. Then On top of it all they try and charge me and extra £70 for kidney function tests despite me having it done at the end of November by gp and all being fine. I refused to pay it. I snapped at DH as he was getting shitty with nurse, it’s not her fault, now they are saying because this was so painful I’ll need sedation for transfer and that’s an extra £800 ffs. Sorry I’m ranting now!

Hobbes39 · 23/01/2019 18:14

@Realitysucks - where is your clinic? Sounds rubbish! I'm so sorry you've had such a shitty day. I believe the scratch can be quite painful - I've never had one, but they are literally scratching you, so I can see hi it would be sore! I don't see the logic or needing to sedate you for embryo transfer tho? Tbh I have always hated smear tests as I have found them uncomfortable (I just get an icky sick feeling when they scratch the cells off and feel a bit like I'll pass out!) but yet I have found all but one of my transfers (I've had 7 now) painless other than the discomfort from the desperate need to pee! And the one that wasn't painless it wasn't bad, was just not completely pain free.
Rest up and I hope you feel better in the morning x

Cleozeta · 23/01/2019 18:18

Reality - that sounds shit. Do you feel like they are just trying to get money out of you? What was the painful part, the catheter or the scratch?
Was the folicle count what you expected?

Realitysucks · 23/01/2019 18:45

@Hobbes39 @Cleozeta Clinic is Herts and Essex and we went there on a recommendation of someone who had successful treatment there. It’s not like we are asking loads of questions as I’ve done loads of research but they have literally told us nothing. Yes I feel like we are easy money for them. Maybe I’ve just been unlucky with the doctor I have! The nurses are all lovely. I’m not sure what was the most painful I was not looking forward to it and couldn’t look at screen as I was so anxious. DH was watching screen whilst I was breaking his hand and screaming ! when she was scanning the scan was really deep to find my right ovary and that hurt but nothing like the worst bit when she put the catheter through the cervix, the scratching hurt but nothing like the initial pain, I literally screamed. I don’t really know what I expected on the follicle count. She said 5 and that’s fine. I said it was really low wasn’t it and she just said it’s what we expected. No epxlaination or anything. I said that people normally have about 10-12 don’t they at my age and she just said 5 is fine 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ Then she was rushing us out to the waiting room. I could barley stand , my whole body was shaking! She just said it will calm down in ten minutes ! You’ll be fine. I felt like she thought I was being a wuss. I’m not being funny but I gave birth to a 9llb baby with no drugs I’m pretty sure my pain threshold is high and that bloody hurt ! They are now saying if i cant to cope with the catheter then egg transfer will be difficult.

Chatbash72 · 23/01/2019 19:47

Ohh @Realitysucks that sounds dreadful treatment.. poor you.. are you too far down the rabbit hole to change clinics?

Realitysucks · 23/01/2019 19:58

@Chatbash72 problem is it’s the closest clinic to us and we are still a 45 min drive away. Yes I think too far down now as have paid nearly 9k so far already and still no clearer ! I also asked what drugs I was getting and when and was just told each time, we will tell you next appointment. I have no idea what drugs they are going to give me. All I know is that they don’t do them in bulk and you get given days at a time to last to each scan. Saw the anaesthetist today who asked if we had been to our treatment information appointment err that was in November! Each person I see seems to have no idea how far down the line we are. The doctor wrote to my gp on 6th December there are so many inaccuracies in the letter, saying we’re due to book the information appointment yet we’d had it 3 weeks earlier!!! I don’t know what to do short of ringing and complaining. We’ve had 4 appointments now every time we are late going in and early coming out !

Chatbash72 · 23/01/2019 20:21

@Realitysucks is there an ombudsman for fertility clinics? @CritterTamer would you know ?

Cleozeta · 23/01/2019 20:32

Reality - sounds super crap, I'd definitely ssy something. You are getting a crap service from them and at the same time they are trying to fleece you for every penny. Lets just hope the next step is successful to make it worth it

CritterTamer · 23/01/2019 20:37

@Realitysucks - sorry you've had such a bad experience at your clinic today. I am very concerned that they keep asking you to spend more money. I had the scratch done too, and yes it was horrifically painful, and followed by several hours of cramps (I was find the next day), but there was no mention of needing sedation for transfer, and the ET was completely fine, no more uncomfortable than a smear test. I've never heard of anyone in this country being sedated for embryo transfer in fact. I don't know about an ombudsman but the regulatory body for the clinics is the HFEA, you can look your clinic up on their website and probably raise a complaint with the if you wished.

Rose68 · 23/01/2019 20:41

@Realitysucks this sounds terrible, can you make a complaint to your clinic about the doctor you are seeing? And request to have a different doctor from now on? With a free consultation to answer the questions that haven’t been answered? Also I know ivf is expensive, but I also know it’s not £9k for one round of ivf. I really hope your £9k has paid for a package of at least 2 rounds.

Rose68 · 23/01/2019 20:44

@Cleo sorry I forgot to reply re your clinic not bringing forward your scan (or whatever it is you are having done). I also thought that wasn’t good, although I can understand it if they were already fully booked. I guess the other option would be to have the scan later so as not to waste this month, but I’m guessing you want to get the ball rolling on the ivf front. x
