@JcHcks I was on the implant not the pill, but I waited til we were ready to start trying. That was mostly because we wanted to start trying after our honeymoon and I didn’t want to be worrying about periods or hormones while we were away

@Lozzlepop my cycle came back after a month. Was regular from then.

@cupcakesandglitter if you don’t want your DH to see the crazy then one of the cycle tracking apps (I think Glow) has a section where you can take a photo of each opk and it stores it and also tells you if it’s positive or not

Welcome @honeylove

@ValidUser congrats on the job and the weight loss, nice work!

I’m 11dpo today, AF due tomorrow. I leave for a work trip at 6am tomorrow, terrible timing.

Bettythecat · 13/01/2019 09:48

@stormtrooperjulian oh dear that timing isn't great is it! are you going to wait for af to arrive or test tomorrow?

@FivexFive lovely DH I've also got a good egg like that. He gets shared parental leave with work so we've discussed me taking 9 months and then him 3 to make up the year 😊

Question for you all my loves- app has just predicted I ovulated on CD13 which is early for me. I normally O on CD14-20. Does anyone know why I might have ovulated a bit early this month? All google seems to tell me is that stress could cause it to happen early before the egg is mature but CD13 isn't crazy early and I'm also hoping that isn't the reason coz the month would be wasted.

Bec18x · 13/01/2019 10:13

I hope everyone is doing well! This thread is moving so quick. I’ve been off for a while as I’m just a bit fed up. Currently cd 83! No af since October and no sign of ovulation. Had bloods done and about cd 68 and progesterone was only 0.4. My gp is going to start me on metformin while I await my fertility appointment in April. I’m also losing weight on slimming world and I’ve also been taking inositol and the usual pre natal vitamins to try and help.
Hope everyone gets their bfp this year!

Bettythecat · 13/01/2019 11:02

@Bec18x that sounds tough but you should be proud of yourself for taking positive steps to make it happen. At least you are trying to work out the issue and sort them. I'm sure it will all help massively and you will be well on the way to your BFP soon. X

TrashKitten10 · 13/01/2019 11:05

Welcome @Kittyhop

Goodness @Bec18x, CD83, how frustrating! No wonder you are fed up :( Well done though on your weight loss, it's not easy especially when you're fed up and just want chocolate and wine. Are you cycles normally this long?

FlapJackered · 13/01/2019 11:06

@Bec18x cd83! Poor you, that does not sound fun, I feel for you as I used to have long irregular cycles. Inositol sorted me out in the end, along with a low sugar, gluten free diet. What dose are you taking?
That is good that your doc is going to get you on metformin. Fingers crossed it works for you. X

Bec18x · 13/01/2019 11:31

@bettythecat thank you, I hope so!

@trashkitten10 I have pcos so ever since I started my period they have been irregular, sometimes going 6months without. When we started ttc they became more regular 25-35 day cycles but that only lasted 4 months. Hoping my lifestyle change will have positive impact.

@flapjackered I’m taking 1000mg inisitol and also cutting out the carbs and sugar. My gp was very reluctant to give me the metformin at first but I’m a midwife and explained I have seen so many women on metformin for pcos and helped them get pregnant so he eventually agreed but wanted bloods first. I’m going to go tomorrow to get the metformin hopefully! I also see women that have got pregnant on long cycles so it gives me some hope!

MrsAW2018 · 13/01/2019 11:54

Morning ladies, hope you're all well.

AF hasn't arrived yet and I don't feel particularly pre menstrual but not feeling at all positive about this cycle. Had a massive breakdown last night, was crying uncontrollably to my DH at how unfair all this is. All the unwanted and unplanned babies that are coming into the world just today and we don't get to have our very wanted baby. We've been trying since June and I expected to be pregnant by Christmas. We're doing everything right and I'm still finding it hard to conceive. I'm so worried that I'm infertile or that we're going to need some help to get pregnant. I know I'm worrying prematurely but I can't help that niggling feeling I've got at the moment. Plus the fact that even though we started trying in June, we told the doctors that we were waiting to try until September (due to medical reasons) so even if we haven't conceived in a year, we'll have to wait until September to access any help. Fingers crossed it doesn't come to that though.

I'm so sorry for the essay and the rant, I just know you girls are the only ones that will understand. Not even DH completely understands although he tries his best. Anyway, hope you all have a lovely day!

Bettythecat · 13/01/2019 12:20

@MrsAW2018 I'm so sorry you're feeling like this, I honestly know exactly how you feel. It all seems so cruel and unfair and I too feel like there must be something wrong with one or both of us for it to be taking a while.

In terms of the doctor i would imagine that if you went and said you had actually been trying since June and this is taking a huge emotional toll on you and you are feeling very down and anxious about it all that they might help a bit sooner. I doubt they would hold you strictly to the September date you initially said.

One thing I have found helps me is to journal everyday if necessary. I just write down how I'm feeling, why I'm feeling it, where I am in my cycle etc. It helps me to process and then park the emotions and I also think it will be lovely to look back on when our very much wanted baby is finally here.

Sending lots of love and hugs from my corner of the internet to yours. Xx

stormtrooperjulian · 13/01/2019 13:05

@Bettythecat will just wait for AF to arrive. I’m not sure about early ovulation, but mine has been CD13 on a couple of cycles, I don’t think that’s early enough to worry about.

@Bec18x wow CD83 that must be so shit for you, I hope the metformin helps

@MrsAW2018 is your AF due today? I’m sorry you’re feeling down, I know it feels so unfair sometimes but you will get your turn soon!

thumper59 · 13/01/2019 13:35

So I think I've just had a positive opk, it's the first I've ever done so unsure if it's a strong enough line?

I track my cycle in the clue app and putting details into an ovulation calculator online I'm just about right for a 28 day cycle, it was a few days out but that's all. I calculated it from the first day of my withdrawal bleed. Does this mean my cycle will be going to just about normal or have people had this happen then waited forever for their first period?

I'm all confused about it all! Hoping stuff just goes back to normal, whatever normal was! I was only 13-14 when I went on the pill.
I've attached a pic of my opk. I think it's positive, but maybe I'm just being hopeful!

MrsLBear · 13/01/2019 16:20

Aw @MrsAW2018 sorry you're feeling like that. I really do think it's completely normal to feel like that and don't think you shouldn't be allowed to cos you're allowed to have your moments and melt downs. Men don't really get the full extent of it - as much as they can be there - as it's not their bodies going though it. Every twinge and pain. Or funny feeling. It's the biggest emotional rollercoaster there is and it has the highest highs and the lowest lows.
I kept telling myself that there's so many stats out there that say how long it can take the average couple to conceive and that it's all completely normal.
My cousin just found out she's pregnant and she got told her and her DH couldn't have babies unless they tried ivf and even then they said there weren't any guarantees and they fell naturally. As hard as it is, we have to have faith in our bodies.
And I totally get what you mean about unwanted and unplanned pregnancies. It seems so unfair that people who want a baby so so much can struggle yet some who don't even care fall pregnant with a drop of a hat.

MrsLBear · 13/01/2019 16:21

And I agree with @Bettythecat. Speaking to your doctor might be more insightful than you think. They are there to help you and might be able to give you some advice or perhaps even investigate certain things if you have your concerns @MrsAW2018

Bettythecat · 13/01/2019 16:40

@thumper59 I don't think that's a positive but it looks like you are coming up to getting a positive so likely to get one tomorrow or the day after. Positive is where the line is the same or darker than the test line and I think that's a bit fainter.

Bettythecat · 13/01/2019 16:42

@thumper59 sorry I was assuming the left hand line is the control line and the fainter line is the test line? If it's the other way round then it's definitely positive!

PinkFizz19 · 13/01/2019 16:51

Hello everyone, hope you're having a lovely weekend. Welcome to the newbies...i'm really hoping 2019 is our year.

I'm going to start my OPKs tomorrow when I will be CD10. I did one yesterday just to try them but was obviously just a circle (Clearblue Advanced OPKs) I don't mean to ask a stupid question but if/when you get a static smiley do you stop testing or do you generally carry on testing for a few days afterwards?! Thanks in advance

@MrsAW2018 So sorry to hear you've felt so down. I hope you feel a little better now you've got it off your chest. One of my friend's got pregnant following a one night stand. It's so annoying that people can be so lucky/unlucky and yet others are in a happy relationship and ttc but it doesn't happen as easily. I'm a firm believer in everything happens for a reason so fingers crossed you're time will come soon and everything will all fall into place Flowers

FlapJackered · 13/01/2019 17:58

@MrsAW2018 I know exactly how you feel. My DH and I have been ttc since March last year, so almost a year. It is a very lonely place and it is hard to understand when nothing seems to be wrong, and everyone else seems to get pregnant to easily. I just wish I knew if it was going to happen or not, then I could come to terms with it, but the uncertainty is very hard to deal with.
The thing that keeps me sane is thinking that the baby that we will eventually have will be worth waiting for as that is the baby we are meant to have. X

Can anyone recommend cheapie opk's?
These clear blue are too expensive 😭
Ones that are super easy to read?!

And a thermometer?

Xx

Random2468 · 13/01/2019 18:04

@MrsAW2018 really sorry you're feeling like this... it's just so hard and the disappointment that comes each month takes such an emotional toll. Please know you are not alone and I hope this thread can be of support to you.. I think it's good to come on here and rant! When you get that bfp and your beautiful baby you will know why it happened when it did 💕

My bbt dropped today to below cover line.. feeling pretty miserable about it. Boobs are actually a bit sore today. I'm between 10dpo and 12 dpo. AF due Tuesday - Thursday but wondering if tomorrow now with temp drop? I know you can get implantation dips but I don't think it would happen at this point and yesterday I had a higher than cover line bbt but was much lower than previous 3 days so it's been trending down... Only redeemer would be an above cover line bbt tomorrow but I don't feel hopeful. Trying to just trust in what I said above that when it happens it'll be the right time but it's just so disappointing 😢

FivexFive · 13/01/2019 18:06

@PinkFizz19, once you get a static you can stop testing. I do once a day when it's a circle, once or twice when it's flashing (depending on how crazy I'm feeling) the once the static comes, you stop. The static face stays on the monitor for 48 hours anyway. Hope that helps? Xx

bunhead34 · 13/01/2019 18:10

@MrsAW2018 I'm the same as you, started trying in June but....nothing.
I feel like I'm in limbo just waiting for something that might not even happen.
I'm only in my job because I needed a job before ttc. If I'd known it'd take so long I'd have waited for a job I actually wanted. Now I feel stuck Sad

Ah how annoying that you can't go to the docs.
Have you thought about acupuncture?
I've had one session, and due another soon. No idea if it will help!

FivexFive · 13/01/2019 18:13

Also, renewed my fertility friend ap AGAIN! Slightly annoying. I was feeling a tad pessimistic and got a year subscription. Sigh!

A lady at work brought her baby grandson in this week, he's sooo cute! Apparently he's a 'happy accident' according to the mother. My colleague suspects he was planned though. I said, in my recent experience, I have no idea how anyone actually manages an Accident!!

On the plus side, I've got an enormous vegetable pie in the oven :)

MrsH497 · 13/01/2019 19:40

Having a negative weepy day 😢 still can't find anything to wear to my new sister in laws wedding next Saturday and we go down to Devon for it Tuesday straight from night shift. With wedding, honeymoon and Christmas clothes just feel a bit tighter. Not had time to get eyebrows waxed that sort of thing!

No symptoms at all either and the potentially late ovulation means I have no clue when af is now due. Oh well off to work I go! X

cupcakesandglitter · 13/01/2019 20:13

Honestly @FlapJackered it's so funny 😂😂😂

Thanks @stormtrooperjulian might look into that app too! Xx

I've got an almost positive OPK from a couple of hours ago, hopefully if I do one in an hour or so it'll be darker and then I'll ovulate soon!!! God I've missed doing OPKs 😂😂 I think this month I'm going to keep doing them anyway just to see if maybe I get the surge twice? X

@MrsAW2018 sorry you're feeling like this, I can completely sympathise too - it's such a lonely difficult journey, I don't know how I would've got this far without all of your support. Don't forget we're always here xx

@FivexFive oh god, I dread seeing other people's babies - they might be cute but actually they just make me want to cry. It's like another reminder that it's not me yet! Enjoy your veg pie though ;) I've just had lasagne and feeling positively full bloated and lazy

Oh @MrsH497 sorry to hear you're not feeling great too - are you going to look for something to wear tomorrow? Could try Debenhams? And if you go to Benito Brow (they usually have a stall in Debenhams) you could get your brows done too? Xx

Jessikka · 13/01/2019 20:21

Evening Ladies.

I'm curious to know.... when you are ttc do you behave as though you are pregnant, in case you are and it may affect the sticky bean? or do you try and live your life because the process may take ages?

Alcohol consumption? Caffeine etc.

I've not touched alcohol since ovulating (though that's not hard for me as not a massive drinker) and I've limited my caffeine down (I wonder if I'm singlehandedly keeping Starbucks afloat with my caffeine intake) to "pregnant" doses just incase... but at the same time we have to live our lives.

Just curious how you guys go month to month!
